Sometimes the enemy celebrates too soon. He doesn’t realize you’re down, but you’re not out. You had a setback, but really, it’s setting you up. He thought that disappointment would cause you to be sour, give up on your dreams. He thought that bad break would cause you to stay sitting in the ashes, discouraged, bitter. He didn’t know that when you got knocked down, you would get back up again. He didn’t know that instead of complaining, you would start praising. He may be celebrating now, but don’t worry, your time is coming. Right now, God is arranging things in your favor. God doesn’t ask you to do something, and then not give you the grace to do it, but you have to step into it. Dig your heels in and be more disciplined, bite your tongue when you feel like saying something disrespectful, keep a good attitude when you could be sour. The grace is there. As you tap into it, you’ll discover a force breathing in your direction: empowering you, enabling you. When you’re in a difficult time, more than ever, you need to look for opportunities to do good. When your dream seems impossible, find someone and help their dream come to pass. It’s good to pray, believe, work hard, but some things are not going to happen if you’re only focused on yourself. As you bless others, God will bless you. As you show favor, favor will come to you. The scripture says, “When it’s in your power to do good, don’t withhold it from others.” That means when you know you can be a blessing — you have the resources to help that person in need, you can teach them the skills that you’ve learned — don’t put it off. When you help solve their problem, you’re not just being good to them, you are setting a miracle in motion for yourself. When you show favor, the scripture says favor will come to you.

“They’re colorful if sometimes noisy fixtures staged between late April and mid-October, and they bring thousands of people to downtown streets, parking lots and grassy fields. Not only do car shows provide what is usually free entertainment for spectators to recall bygone days of motoring, they also help fund charitable endeavors. So common are car shows that it’s often possible to choose from two or three each weekend at the height of the season, but 2020 will be much different because of the COVID-19 pandemic. Instead of having 50 or more shows in the region to enjoy, vintage vehicle lovers may only end up having a handful to visit, if any at all. Some shows have already pulled the plug, while others continue to ponder what to do: proceed as planned, postpone until a later date, or cancel. Each option offers frustration.” My Ride at https://wheels.rep-am.com/ So where do we go from here? Some say it’s time to turn all the local shows over to the younger crowd and their newer cars. We all see the changes that have taken place. Magazines that once filled our mailboxes have stopped printing and want us to pay an “online fee” how’s that going for them!? Not many of the “cars & coffee” crowd are interested in some of the mainstay magazines of the past. When they do go online, it’s for technical support about tuning their in-dash computer software. They aren’t using feeler gauges and screwdrivers either. I remember being part of the “younger crowd” when we rolled up to car show in our flat black Rat and the older guys just stared. They said that fad won’t last and I guess they were right, like old antique cars and trucks we are parking them more and driving them less. Local shows and cruise-ins keep getting cancelled and it’s just to easy to get into our late model vehicles and drive a couple hundred miles to see if anybody else showed up. (more comfortable too) Jeepin’ the Coast just might be an example of what may change as event participants make their plans. Even though the event was

“officially” canceled, hundreds of Jeep families still invaded the Coast, and who could blame them. Imaging you’ve planned to attend the event, took vacation, made hotel reservations, saved money to spend, and you get this notice; “Well Jeepers, I’m typing this with a heavy heart and with sincere disappointment and apologies, but must advise that our event this year has been cancelled. All venues planned for our event have advised that their governmental authorities have cancelled due to Covid concerns. I was looking forward so much to seeing our local “Jeeples” and making new friends with the out-of-towners and new Jeep owners that bought their Jeep to join in on the amazing times we have at JTC each year!! Trust and believe that I know there are other things that could be so much worse. With the Covid numbers rising on our Beautiful MS Gulf Coast, we feel it is best NOT to put our fellow citizens in jeopardy! We will be offering a full refund for all items purchased and look forward to many GREAT rides in our near future and especially JTC2021!! Many have expressed an interest in coming to the Coast anyway simply for the diversion that our Coast offers, and we welcome the chance to visit with those that do choose to come – socially distancing of course. Nonetheless, “officially” the JTC2020 event on July 16-19, 2020 has been cancelled, but be ready for JTC2021 on June 3-6, 2021! We do encourage everyone to abide by the guidelines if you choose to be on the MS Gulf Coast next weekend!!“ ….. The Mississippi Gulf Coast, will have a another great show taking place in October. This is for the vintage vehicle lovers. Cruisin’ the Coast, sure to bring back some of the “good ol’ days” feeling we have been missing the last few months… I have been asked, will it take place or have they canceled that event too? As of right now it is still on and you can find the schedule on pages 38 & 39 in this months MotorSports. My guess even if they did cancel it the Gulf Coast would be packed with all the “Cruisin’ crowd” that have reservations at the hotels and camping sites so as not to loose them for the 2021 season. Ease the wait into Cruise Central For our first year at Centennial Plaza as a fully functioning resort, things went pretty well overall. We know that there was a wait to get into the property and we are doing what we reasonably can to help the situation. You can help with this by understanding a few simple issues. We placed an abundance of signs directing spectators to Arkansas Ave. and spectator parking. Not all saw the signs or just ignored them and got in line to enter Centennial Plaza. This slowed down entry for Cruisers as our hard-working volunteers had to redirect them. A large number of registered cruisers showed up on Monday and Tuesday in late model vehicles. To park in cruiser parking, you must be in the vehicle you have registered. No ifs, ands or butts about it. Of course, our volunteers have to take time to explain this and redirect them to spectator parking. Please, if you are coming to pick up your package drive your hot rod to the show! The biggest reason there is a bottleneck at the gate is because so many of you are so excited and want to get your registration package right away. We understand and are actually proud and flattered that this happens. But it creates traffic and parking back ups. To help ease the log jam and to more effectively practice social distancing, a new package pick-up schedule will apply. There are only two events Sunday through Wednesday where you need to prove registration – the Monday parade in Long Beach and the autocross at the Coliseum. Your confirmation postcard is proof enough. This year, we’re going to print out lists of registered cruisers and give one each to the parade and autocross staffs, so drive up, give them your name and they will check the Big Book of Cruisers. If you’re in, you’re good to go. And finally, onsite registration adds hundreds to the mix. That clog can be lessened if you register before August 15. We understand some of you have fluid schedules or other reasons for not pre -registering. To help lessen the load and aid in social distancing, onsite registration will not open until 9 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 7. We ask for your assistance and understanding. Jimbo, I love Gulfport. I own a house there which I seldom occupy. My residence is West Virginia. WV's history is complex. Some say WV's formation was unconstitutional. WV became a state in 1863. It needed usual "State Stuff" like a State Seal, State Flag, State Motto, etc. WV's motto Montani Semper Liberi is on its Seal. its Flag, and its other State Stuff. Everyone in WV has learned the English translation of the motto is: Mountaineers are Always Free. Well, not really. Computers translate that motto to be: Mountaineers are Always Children. I don't care. In the 1950's I heard folks say things like, It's a Free Country, or You don't need to make a Federal case out of everything. To know what freedom means, one needs to know the difference between freedom and liberty. Those who don't know the difference between freedom and liberty might be children. Words mean something. write a word unless I know its meaning. I wish you to be free. Thanks for all the good you do. Take Care. Mendal Yoho Jimbo, Since I have thought about it overnight I have decided to comply with the mask mandates. After all I want to be a great Patriot and American and definitely don’t want to be selfish. So if it saves lives I’ll do it. But I need guidance from the experts on here since I am obviously clueless. Please help. QUESTION(s): 1) After shopping at the local grocery store, do we leave the masks on once we leave or does the virus just stay in the stores? - If we leave it on, then for how long? - How many miles can I drive before it is safe to remove the mask? 2) What about my fingers, arms, legs, head, neck and toes? Should I disinfect them BEFORE or AFTER I remove my mask? After all they were exposed at the store. 2.1) if I touch my mask do I have to sanitize my hands 2.2) now I contaminated my hand sanitizer bottle . What do I do? 3) When we arrive home from the grocery store do we disinfect the goods and bags BEFORE we bring them inside or AFTER? - Do I put the mask back on? 4) Once we have the goods inside do we disinfect the entire car or just the trunk? 5) Do we need to disinfect our counter tops, pantries, refrigerator, entire kitchen, the dogs (they always sniff the bags) doors we touched, the garage, driveway and street? 6) What should we do about the food and goods purchased? Do we need to disinfect all these items as well? After all they were in the grocery store exposed to all these nasty liberal viruses. 7) What should I do with my homemade fancy cloth mask? Do I burn it? It was also exposed to the nasty liberal virus at the store? 8)What about the clothes I wore to the store? Is disinfecting them
ok? Do I disinfect them in the grocery store parking lot or in my garage? 9) What about my eyes? Are there special eye drops I need to take? Where do I get those? 10) After consuming the goods from the store do I need a biohazard bag for the waste? (Both trash and poop) 11) Is the juice and milk I bought safe to drink or should i disinfect it first? 12) Is there a specific shampoo to use if I get a hair cut to disinfect my hair? 13) My meds...what about my meds? Are they safe to orally consume or should I disinfect them too? 14) If I shop at a hardware store should I disinfect each screw, nut and bolt BEFORE or AFTER I put them in my project? 15) I want to paint my room but I am not sure if I should disinfect the paint BEFORE or AFTER I apply it to the walls. 16) What if I forgot to follow any of the above do I call the fire department, CDC or psychiatrist? Posted by Sandra Saucier Jimbo, I've decided to go begging in order to save some of the extra money the Government is sending me for not working. I need advice before I go out and do it. Some of the questions I have are: How much can I expect to earn from begging? My goal here is to earn $20 an hour from it. If I bring in more money than I spend, how should I invest my excess begging funds? Does the IRS expect me to declare begging income on my tax return? If so, where do I put it on my return? And will I have to pay extra social security taxes on my begging income, since it might be considered earned income? What's the chance of the IRS grilling me during an audit about begging income, if I don't report it? Does the U.S. Government issue any informational pamphlets for beggars, which explains this line of work?

Where are the best, and safest, areas to beg? I live in on the Mississippi Gulf Coast. I would think the Airport would be productive area. Also, the major shopping centers. What will the management of these facilities do to me if I stick around begging? Will they kick me out? Isn't begging protected by the U.S. Constitution as a freedom of speech? Should I park my car quite a distance from where I beg? I figure it might lower my begging take, if people see I own a decent car. On the other hand, it might be safer if I have my car near by, in case I need to flee from some sort of trouble. How should I dress to go begging? Should I dress as messy as possible, to make people think I'm extremely dirt poor? Doing that might bring more sympathy, and thus more money. But if I dress more sharply, does that mean I could get away with begging in more high-class areas, such as in front of Starbucks, without any management chasing me away? Begging in Gulf Hills I would probably meet more people with fatter wallets this way. How long should I stay in one place before I move? I'm afraid if someone watches me in one place for too long a period, I might be robbed or beaten-up. What's the best time and/or day of week to go begging? Does weather make much a difference? Begging on extremely hot or cold/ wet days would be quite uncomfortable, but if lousy weather brings in more money due to lack of competition from other beggars. I think I'll do it, but any other advice would be appreciated. Fred Gpt, MS Something to think about A bus carrying only ugly people crashes into an oncoming truck, and everyone inside dies. As they stand at the Pearly Gates waiting to enter Paradise and meet their maker, God decides to grant each person one wish because of the grief they have experienced. They're all lined up, and God asks the first one what the wish is. "I want to be gorgeous," and so God snaps His fingers, and it is done. The second one in line hears this and says "I want to be gorgeous too." Another snap of His fingers and the wish is granted. This goes on for a while with each one asking to be gorgeous, but when God is halfway down the line, the last guy in the line starts laughing. When there are only ten people left, this guy is rolling on the floor, laughing his head off. Finally, God reaches this last guy and asks him what his wish will be. The guy eventually calms down and says: "Make 'em all ugly again. Next time your last in line, Be Happy!!! Till next month …… Jimbo
Who remembers this place on Pass Road?
Jack took a long look at his speedometer before slowing down: 73 in a 55 zone... Fourth time in as many months. How could a guy get caught so often? When his car had slowed to 10 miles an hour, Jack pulled over, but only partially. Let the cop worry about the potential traffic hazard. Maybe some other car will tweak his backside with a mirror. The cop was stepping out of his car, the big pad in hand. Bob? Bob from church? Jack sunk farther into his trench coat. This was worse than the coming ticket. A Christian cop catching a guy from his own church. A guy who happened to be a little anxious to get home after a long day at the office. A guy he was about to play golf with tomorrow. Jumping out of the car, he approached a man he saw every Sunday, a man he'd never seen in uniform. "Hi, Bob. Fancy meeting you like this." "Hello, Jack." No smile. "Guess you caught me red-handed in a rush to see my wife and kids." "Yeah, I guess." Bob seemed uncertain. Good. "I've seen some long days at the office lately. I'm afraid I bent the rules a bit - just this once." Jack toed at a pebble on the pavement. "Diane said something about roast beef and potatoes tonight. Know what I mean?" "I know what you mean. I also know that you have a reputation in our precinct." Ouch! This was not going in the right direction. Time to change tactics. "What'd you clock me at?" "Seventy-one. Would you sit back in your car, please?" "Now wait a minute here, Bob. I checked as soon as I saw you. I was barely nudging 65." The lie seemed to come easier with every ticket. "Please, Jack, in the car." Flustered, Jack hunched himself through the still open door. Slamming it shut, he stared at the dashboard. He was in no rush to open the window. The minutes ticked by. Bob scribbled away on the pad. Why hadn't he asked for a driver's license? Whatever the reason, it would be a month of Sundays before Jack ever sat near this cop again. A tap on the door jerked his head to the left. There was Bob, a folded paper in hand. Jack rolled down the window a bare two inches, just enough room for Bob to pass him the slip. "Thanks." Jack could not quite keep the sneer out of his voice. Bob returned to his car without a word. Jack watched his retreat in the mirror. Jack unfolded the sheet of paper. How much was this one going to cost? Wait a minute. What was this? Some kind of joke? Certainly not a ticket. Jack began to read: "Dear Jack, Once upon a time I had a daughter. She was six when killed by a car. You guessed it - a speeding driver. A fine and three months in jail, and the man was free. Free to hug his daughters. All three of them. I only had one, and I'm going to have to wait until heaven before I can ever hug her again. A thousand times I've tried to forgive that man. A thousand times I thought I had. Maybe I did, but I need to do it again. Even now... Pray for me. And be careful. My son is all I have left. Bob" Jack twisted around in time to see Bob's car pull away and head down the road. Jack watched until it disappeared. A full 15 minutes later, he, too, pulled away and drove slowly home, praying for forgiveness and hugging a surprised wife and kids when he arrived. Life is precious. Handle with care.

The electric fence and the lawnmower. We have the standard 6 ft. fence in the backyard, and a few months ago, I heard about burglaries increasing dramatically in the entire city, not to mention all this ANTIFA mess. To make sure this never happened to me, I got an electric fence and ran a single wire along the top of the fence. Actually, I got the biggest cattle charger Tractor Supply had, made for 26 miles of fence. I then used an 8 ft. long ground rod, and drove it 7.5 feet into the ground. The ground rod is the key, with the more you have in the ground, the better the fence works. One day I'm mowing the back yard with my cheapo Wal-Mart 6 hp big wheel push mower. The hot wire is broken and laying out in the yard. I knew for a fact that I unplugged the charger. Little did my sweet wife know that bit of information, but worried the animals might get out, had plugged it back in. I pushed the mower around the wire and reached down to grab it, to throw it out of the way. Now I'm standing there, I've got the running lawnmower in my right hand and the 1.7 giga-volt fence wire in the other hand. Keep in mind the charger is about the size of a marine battery and has a picture of an upside down cow on fire on the cover. Time stood still. The first thing I notice is my pecker trying to climb up the front side of my body. My ears curled downwards and I could feel the lawnmower ignition firing in the backside of my brain. Every time that Briggs & Stratton rolled over, I could feel the spark in my head. I was literally at one with the engine. It seems as though the fence charger and the piece of crap lawnmower were fighting over who would control my electrical impulses. Science says you cannot crap, pee, and vomit at the same time. I beg to differ. Not only did I do all three at once, but my bowels emptied 3 different times in less than half of a second. It was a Matrix kind of bowel movement, where time is creeping along and you're all leaned back and BAM BAM BAM you just crap your pants 3 times. It seemed like there were minutes in between but in reality it was so close together it was like exhaust pulses from a big block Chevy turning 8 grand. At this point I'm about 30 minutes (maybe 2 seconds) into holding onto the fence wire. My hand is wrapped around the wire palm down so I can't let go. I grew up on a farm so I know all about electric fences ... but Dad always had those junk chargers made by International or whoever that were like 9 volts and just kinda tickled.

This one I could not let go of. The 8 foot long ground rod is now accepting signals from me through the permadamp Ark-La-Tex river bottom soil. At this point I'm thinking I'm going to have to just man up and take it, until the lawnmower runs out of gas. 'Damn!,' I think, as I remember I just filled the tank! Now the lawnmower is starting to run rough. It has settled into a loping run pattern as if it had some kind of big lawnmower race cam in it. Covered in poop, pee, and with my vomit on my chest I think 'Oh God please die .... Pleeeeaze die'. But nooooo, it settles into the rough lumpy cam idle nicely and remains there, like a big bore roller cam EFI motor waiting for the go command from its owner's right foot. So here I am in the middle of July, 104 degrees, 80% humidity, standing in my own backyard, begging God to kill me. God did not take me that day .... he left me there covered in my own fluids to writhe in the misery my own stupidity had created. I honestly don't know how I got loose from the wire .... I woke up laying on the ground hours later. The lawnmower was beside me, out of gas. It was later on in the day and I was sunburned. There were two large dead grass spots where I had been standing, and then another long skinny dead spot where the wire had laid while I was on the ground still holding on to it. I assume I finally had a seizure and in the resulting thrashing had somehow let go of the wire. Upon waking from my electrically induced sleep I realized a few things: - Three of my teeth seem to have melted. - I now have cramps in the bottoms of my feet and my right butt cheek (not the left, just the right). - Poop, pee, and vomit when all mixed together, do not smell as bad as you might think. - My left eye will not open. - My right eye will not close. - The lawnmower runs like a sumbitch now. Seriously! I think our little session cleared out some carbon fouling or something, because it was better than new after that. That day changed my life. I now have a newfound respect for things. I appreciate the little things more, and now I always triple check to make sure the fence is unplugged before I mow. The good news is that if a burglar does try to come over the fence, I can clearly visualize what my security system will do to him, and THAT gives me a warm and fuzzy feeling all over, which also reminds me to triple check before I mow.

Things are once again getting busy in the Carriage house, got some new wheels for the Big Truck Pro ject, and just ordered some tires. Brake bleeding and fixing leaks has also begun. As well as a first attempt at installing the rear glass. Also removed the hood and installed the new custom hinges, so maybe it will fit better this time. Will keep you posted. I attended a few cruise nights and am looking forward to more nights like this. I do believe if we could get this dampanic under control all would be right with the fun with cars groups. Very saddened to see many really nice events get cancelled, I know I had several on my wish list to do, and am quite sure many of you feel the same. I once again attended Scrapin the Coast in the black truck, and had fun with some of the regular old timers and some of the younger set. There were a very large variety of cars and trucks and vans and even some bikes in attendance. I am constantly impressed by the level of craftsmanship some of these folks have on display. I consistently praised these youngsters every chance I got. It just does my heart good to know that not all kids care only about video games, and not getting their hands dirty. Lots of respect for these young folks, for we all were once them. Whether we all want to admit it or not, these youngsters and others are the future of this sport/hobby. I for one am just thankful they are doing this rather than doing drugs and getting in trouble in other ways. I also would like to thank the workers and staff of

Scrapin for handling the large turnout. From my point of view, they did a fine job. I took some pictures, walked around aimlessly and several times just relaxed under the tent with the other older teenagers. I must say it was great just to get out and enjoy the breeze, the good company, and the back roads home. It's what it's all about, riding, chilling and visiting, and riding back. We all here in the Good Old U.S. of A. should feel blessed to be able to enjoy the things we have the freedom to do. I know I am. Since the wheels are now sufficiently painted, I have forwarded a few pics. I had hoped to paint them red, however, Chase said no to the red idear. Hope some of you like them, it is starting to grow on me. But I will not give away the choice of tires. So, stay tuned next month it just may be on the ground and very close to a maiden voyage, in the neighborhood. Stay safe, take care, and hope to see you on a cruise, from the overfilled Carriage House, Gizmo.

This month I started at Scrapin The Coast. With everything going on didn't know how this one would make out this year. A lot of extra precautions were done for this one. Contact info and temperature checked for every participant /spectacular along with numerous other safety orders. Well guess what the Scrapin crew worked their butts off to pull off their largest show..Participation was so good they ran out off registrations. Around 2000 cars/ trucks and a never ending crowd that came to see some of the baddest rides around. If you've never been just go one year and you'll be hooked. We finished out the Month in Waveland or the Misfits Street Krewzers 2nd Sat Cruise-in. They had 30 plus cars/trucks come out and enjoy the evening. And yes i even had a mask on my old truck for safety. Hahaha Remember to watch for our friends out riding their bikes also………. Allen

Oh, happy days! We had our first Lucedale Cruise In since the beginning of the pandemic. This pandemic has caused lots of changes in the way we live, and it has even flowed down to our Cruise-ins. One of the changes for us is a new location. We feel this is a positive change for us. With an invitation from Rocky McGarrity to move our Cruise-in to Lucedale Edwards Drugs and Rocky's Diner; it did not take us long to jump on this. There is ample parking, good food at reasonable prices and friendly staff and atmosphere. You know this time of the year our weather is unpredictable. We did not get disappointed because we had an early morning shower. The rain did not dampen the groups enthusiasm. Everyone was happy to get back to something semi-normal and to see the gang. Mark Toomer showed up in his '89 Corvette and the little bit of rain was easy for him to dry off.

It seems Rocky's son, Jamison, has his eye on this '52 Dodge truck. After a ride with the owner, Mark Lachaussee, I think we may be looking at the future owner. Good luck Jamison in convincing your father! We want to thank Rocky McGarrity and his staff for inviting us to have our cruises there and we really appreciate the great reception we received. In the future, we will become known as Edwards Drugs Lucedale Gang Cruisers. There will be music and perhaps some surprise fun activities plus plenty of good-looking vehicles to check out. We invite everyone to our new location on the 2nd Friday of each month from 7:30-til. Edward Drugs is easy to find and is located next to Sun South Tractors and diagonally down from our old location. Just ask if you get lost because everyone knows Edwards Drugs. Keep safe, keep cruising and God Bless us all and the USA.

I could not make her wait too long, because she knew I had the ring and I did want it on her finger. I had thought about doing it on stage at Emerald Coast Cruizin in Panama City Beach in November, but that was just too long to wait. She knew that it was probably going to happen 4th of July weekend. I had told her I wanted to go to a very special place on Saturday night to celebrate and be thinking of where she wanted it to be, we’d get dressed up and have a nice dinner. I’m driving down the road during the week and it hit me, my friend Todd Allen Herendeen has a Dinner Theatre in Panama City Beach and he was opening up for a patriotic show Friday night July 3rd. So I contacted Todd to see if he had tickets left and to see what we could cook up. Todd is a great entertainer and as a showman he loved the idea. But now if I told Elizabeth about Friday night she would be on to it. I still wanted her to believe it was Saturday night. So I needed another accomplice. I called my brother Ken and sister in-law Linda and shared the idea with them to see if they wanted to come. Not only were they excited to come, but said our mutual friends Bill and Pam Stockton wanted to come. So then I shared the plan with them.
Mason Barfield
Last month I started off the column with it is amazing how much can change in a month, so true and more this month. Let me tell you about it. Elizabeth and I were getting very serious with our relationship, we both knew it, you know it…so we started talking about forever. She comes down every Friday after work to Pensacola and spends the weekend with me. I could go to Dothan, but there is just so much more to do here. Well anyway a couple of weeks ago we decided to go to Zales and look at engagement rings. I like Zales because you can always trade up on your diamond rings. Say you start at $2,500 and later you want a $5,000 diamond, well Zales will always take the ring back for $2,500 on the $5,000 ring, which has always sold me on their store. We get to the store and the lady brings out a diamond ring that was heavenly, what I mean by that is it was cloudy or milky. Nota going to happen, so Elizabeth picks out this brilliant quality diamond and we find out it’s on sale, with the wedding band cluster that surrounds it, it really pops, so we decide to go ahead a purchase it on the spot, but I haven’t asked Elizabeth to marry me yet. So now the back story… When Scotty and I got married I accidently proposed to her and she accepted on the phone. It was late one night and we were missing each other bad and having one of those passionate conversations and it just slipped out. I said “We should just get married” and she said “OK”! I never dreamed that that innocent exchange would have me paying for it for 34 years! lol I never lived down proposing on the phone. So I told Elizabeth that would not happen, I would make it special this time.

AUGUST 2020
The plan was to have Linda call Elizabeth just before noon on that Friday July 3 and ask what our plans were for the night. (I made sure that our plans were only staying home and watching a movie.) When Elizabeth told her just a movie night, Linda said great we’re going to Todd Heredeen’s patriotic show tonight and we want ya’ll to join us. So Elizabeth asks me if I want to go and meet them. I told Elizabeth I really didn’t want to deal with the PCB 4th of July traffic and that drive…but I guess so! So that threw her off. So we got dressed up and headed out. I had the ring box hid in the truck, I got it out when we got there and then had to carry that big sucker in my pocket through the first half of the show… so I had to keep that side away from Elizabeth so she wouldn’t feel it. She later told me she wondered why I pulled back a couple of times, she is really perceptive when it comes to me. Anyway, we got through the first half of the show and intermission. A couple of songs into the second half of the show, Todd said I have a dear friend here tonight that I have worked a few car shows with, I want you to meet him and he calls me up on stage. Well as I’m getting up I am grumbling under my breath I can’t believe he is doing this, to once again throw Elizabeth off. So Todd and I talk on stage a little…and then I tell him he has not yet met my new special lady. He said I have met a bunch of your other ones and the crowd laughs…So I said Elizabeth come on up. As she gets up there, Todd hands me the mic, backs up and I say… “Elizabeth Holman… We have both paid a huge debt to get to each other! I want you to know you really rock my world!
www.GulfCoastMotorSports.com
Todd Herendeen played it awesome… and he has an incredible dinner theatre in Panama City Beach, FL. Todd performs Johnny Cash, Roy Orbison, Neil Diamond and the headliner of course is his tribute to the King, Elvis. Catch his show when you’re in PCB, of course you can also catch him at Emerald Coast Cruizin. We have been busy with me sharing my life and friends with Elizabeth and her sharing her life and family with me. I met her sisters this past weekend in Dothan, AL. They did a rib Bar B Q cookout to meet me this past weekend. I’m truly blessed to be included in this warm family. Liz had promised me they were all nice and would welcome me with open arms and as always she was right on the money!
(As I drop down to one knee and all the ladies in the audience scream bloody murder, I say…) Would you do me the honor of being my wife?” And she said ‘YES!” Our wedding is set for Saturday June 19, 2021, 5:30 pm at First United Methodist Church in Gulfport, MS. Rev. Claire Dobbs will do the ceremony and David Delk will perform a couple songs. Please join us for this special occasion; you are invited to the wedding! Please place it on your calendar. Elizabeth said later she had no idea until I said her name what was going on…You can log on to our Facebook page, Terry Mason’s Hot Rod Show and find the video of the proposal, like our page while you’re there.
Liz and I have bicycles and this past weekend we found her a kayak, (those things are sold out like bicycles.) Our plan is finding her a job here; we are working on that now, then finding us a house depending on our job locations and then starting the search for our 1934 Ford. 2020 has been a very strange year indeed, and it’s not over yet, but we’ll get through this year. It seems we all have to deal with this virus in the way we feel most comfortable in doing. I still feel like much of this stuff is political, but however how you feel about this virus, please by all means be registered and vote November 3, the future of our nation depends on you! Change is the name of the game right now and although I have learned to hate the words, there does seem to be a “new normal” we have to deal with, this virus and civil unrest is affecting people in different ways, please check on your family & friends, especially their mental state of mind and make sure they are good! We all need to pray for each other! Car shows will make a comeback and we’ll see you at one of them! til next month…

40 YEARS! It all started in 1979 when two partners from Texas got the idea that the Mississippi Gulf Coast would appreciate having quality, made-in-house, quick-service Mexican food readily available to them! With that thought, Jimmie Johnson, his wife Jean and Lynn Parkhill made the 800+ mile trip from Texas to Gulfport, Mississippi and opened the first Taco Sombrero in 1980 on Pass Road in Gulfport‌.with a wing, a prayer and a lot of faith and hard work. A couple of years later, they expanded their restaurant with a second location to the once-remote area known as Orange Grove on Highway 49 North. Carl Starks, a resident of the area, was our first customer. The rest, as they say, is history! Taco Sombrero quickly became a staple for thousands of Gulfport residents. While Jimmie, Jean and their daughter didn't make Gulfport their permanent home, they continued to travel back and forth from Texas over the years leaving Lynn and his wife, Vicki, to run the day-to-day operations of the expanding business. Lynn and Vicki have raised their 4 children in Gulfport and are dedicated business owners and partners in the Mississippi Gulf Coast community. The restaurant prides itself on being family-based having had all of their children work for the business and now employing the third family generation to the business. While Lynn has been the force behind Taco Sombrero for the last 40 years, its future rests safely in the hands of his management team that includes his general manger Mike Partridge (a 35-year employee) as well as two of Lynn's sons , David Parkhill and Tyler Morgan. Lynn and Vicki are fixtures in the restaurants on a daily basis. She handles all of the restaurants social media accounts and on almost any given weekday, you'll see Lynn's smiling face at the Highway 49 store in Gulfport!
In 2016, Taco Sombrero made the decision to franchise and opened their first franchised store in Biloxi. The Pass Road location is owned by a former employee, Danny Mercer and his wife, Windy. They were the perfect partner to launch the new chapter of growth for Taco Sombrero. In April of 2019, the second franchise location opened in Ocean Springs giving Mississippi Gulf Coast residents three locations to enjoy the fresh taste of Quality Mexican food! The Taco Sombrero team loves their customers and prides themselves on being a local hangout for the high school students, a special anniversary spot for so many married couples and a destination for numerous visitors who make the restaurant their first stop when coming to the Coast for vacation or to visit family and friends. In 2018, Jimmie passed away but the family remained as committed as ever to the institution and legacy that is Taco Sombrero. In September Taco Sombrero will host a 40th Anniversary Celebration! We hope you will join us for the festivities! Stay tuned for more information...

RESORT RIDES Meet The Merc, a 1961 Mercury Monterey. Mercury manufactured the Monterey from 1952 until 1974. The Merc is driven by Travis Faith. Travis has been with Pearl River Resort for 6 years and is a print production coordinator in the resort's marketing department. Travis spotted this Monterey on Facebook Marketplace in central Mississippi, but it originally came from Michigan. “I had never seen anything like it before, but I just had to have it. I love the patina and everything else about it,” said Travis. A head turner around his town of Union, he joked, “they love it, but can’t figure out what it is!” The Merc is currently powered by a 292 Y-block V-8, though Travis hopes to do some modifications on the drivetrain. He’d like to put in a Crown Vic suspension and do a Coyote engine swap… but not a drop of paint will cover this beauty!

If You Run In Front Of A Car, You Will Get Tired, But If You Run Behind, You Will Get Exhausted! I tried to rev up my car today, but in the end it is clearly exhausted! Yes, this article is about automobile exhaust. More specifically, it is about how important it is to have someone who is trained in the science of exhaust and knows exactly how to obtain peak horsepower and performance in your modified specialty hot rod, or any vehicle. It is not as simple as putting on mammoth piping because an incorrect design, can cause your machine to lose horsepower rather than gain it. The calculation for this is mathematical. The “cool factor”, the “shiny factor”, or the “bigger is better factor” based upon Cool Chris’ advice, is not necessarily what you need. A specialist is the person you want to turn to, and I do mean exhaust specialist. One such specialist in my area of the country is Allen “Pork” Shidler, owner of Shidler’s Auto Repair in Indianapolis, Indiana. He is one of the foremost custom exhaust fabricators in the state. He amazes me every time I watch him work because he enjoys his work and he understands what the customer needs. This talent is truly a gift from God! I have witnessed a lot of technicians in my years around automotive repair and customization. I am always in awe. These people see the finished product in their mind, before they begin. I have to stare at the completed work for hours, sometimes days, before I can fully appreciate their craftsmanship. This is truly a gift and these specialists are working exactly where they belong. I recently visited Shidler’s Auto Repair and Pork had a 1956 Dodge Coronet up on the lift. He was installing a complete exhaust system similar to the stock exhaust. The diameter was going from 2” to 2 ½” exhaust, from the exhaust manifold to the rear of the car. The engine in this car is original, but the exhaust is going to have some custom characteristics. Cherry Bomb mufflers were to be installed, which caused some design changes to the original exhaust pipe configuration. I watched as he carefully made the bends, and then checked the diameter to assure the openings remained 2 ½ inches. He would expand the pipe back out in the bend so it was not restricted. Other things he showed me were paying attention to the direction of the bends and how to have the pipe run in the proper and most efficient direction. It is too complicated for me to describe here because the procedure appears difficult to me, but not to him. Go watch a specialist sometime. You will be entertained. Pork installed a custom exhaust on my 1946 Ford Street Rod some years ago. I was installing an independent front suspension and the stock exhaust manifolds on the 350 CI small block engine did not allow the proper clearance for the steering shaft. The options were to use several universal joints, or put on a manifold that dumped the exhaust in a different location. I decided that the left side exhaust manifold from at 265 CI Chevy engine would give the perfect clearance. Pork was able to modify the 265 manifold and hone it out to the proper diameter. He then fabricated a donut packing and flange to create a leak-proof connection. It is really clever and I have included this photo. I hope you can see it clearly. The steering works flawlessly, and the u-joints were avoided.

There are always show cars, street cars, hot rods, and daily drivers at the shop for me to observe. I must not be too big of a pest, because I am always welcomed by Pork and Sabrina. I appreciate that. Hi to Levi and Uncle Frank, too. If you are in need of an exhaust system in the Indianapolis area, I recommend Shidler’s Auto Repair. They can do everything from an oil change to a complete overhaul. My sincere thanks to everyone who works there for treating me like a family member. I appreciate all the kindness. Honor Flight Mission: To transport America’s Veterans to W ashington, DC to visit those memorials dedicated to honor the service a n d s ac ri fic e s o f t hem selves and their friends.
An increasingly more well known organization for veterans throughout the By Candy Cocktail country is the Honor Flight Network. The nonprofit organization, comprised of independent Hubs working together for the Honor Flight mission, is dedicated to honoring those that have served and sacrificed for our country. The nationwide organization, based in Arlington, Virginia, usually transports 75-80 veterans per flight. Created solely to honor America’s veterans, the organization transports our national heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit those memorials dedicated to honoring their service and sacrifices, so they can reflect at these memorials that honor the wars they fought in. Top priority is given to World War II survivors and those that are terminally ill. Veterans who have served during war time are eligible to apply. The veteran is not required to have served in a combat zone, just during one of the designated time frames. Participation in an Honor Flight trip gives veterans the opportunity to share this momentous occasion with other comrades, to remember lost friends and allies and share their stories and experiences with other veterans. At the end of the 2017 flying season, the network had escorted over 200,000 veterans to their memorials, free of cost to the veterans. As always, the veteran is not required to pay for ANYTHING because they have paid enough with their service to this country.
by fire trucks and passengers are usually met by cheering crowds (in DC or upon their return flight home), comprised of current or retired military service men and women, children, pinups, school groups, reporters and just those that recognize and want to honor their sacrifice. The network was founded by Earl Morse, a physician assistant and retired Air Force captain, and Jeff Miller, a dry cleaning business owner who is the son of a WWII veteran and the nephew of a B-24 bomber pilot who died in the war. Miller was a charter member of the National World War II Memorial Foundation. Morse worked in a Department of Veterans Affairs clinic in Springfield, Ohio, where he saw many World War II veterans as his patients. After the National World War II Memorial was completed in 2004, he asked several of his veteran patients if they were going to see it, and most said yes. "I would see my World War II veterans some three, six months later," Morse said, "and I'd ask them if they'd gone to see it. Three hundred of them, and not one of them had been to it. Reality set in. They were never going." So Morse offered to fly with two veterans to Washington to see the memorial. After seeing them break down and cry, graciously accepting the offer, he pitched his idea to a local aeroclub of 300 private pilots at a local Air Force base, proposing that the pilots would pay for the veterans’ flights to Washington and even personally escort them around the city. Eleven volunteered, and thus the network was formed.
“Of all of the wars in recent memory, it was World War II that truly threatened our very existence as a nation— and as a culturally diverse, free society. According to the Department of Veterans Affairs, an estimated 640 WWII veterans die each day. Our time to express our thanks to these brave men and women is running out.” Currently these organizations are focused on the appropriately named Greatest Generation; bringing veterans of World War II to the National World War II Memorial. Organizers plan to naturally transition their programs to focus on veterans of the Korean War, the Vietnam War, and subsequent wars as the veterans of those wars get older. Honor flights arrive at all three of the Washington area airports: Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport, Baltimore/ Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport, and Washington Dulles International Airport. The veterans are escorted by volunteer guardians, who help them on the flight and around DC. After landing, the veterans are treated like celebrities with an aptly named heroes welcome: The taxiing airplane may be saluted

By 2005, a board was formed, funds were raised, and volunteers had joined; it was the start of an exceptional organization for veterans. The first honor flight took place in May of 2005, as six small planes flew 12 veterans to Washington, DC. With such high participation, the program began using commercial flights. At the end of 2005, the program had already transported 137 veterans to the memorial. In September and November of 2006, Jeff Miller’s HonorAir flew more than 300 World War II veterans from the Asheville Regional Airport to Washington, free of charge. HonorAir provided everything, including a medical doctor and several EMTs, guardians who would attend to the needs of three to four veterans each, tour buses to take the group to the World War II Memorial and other national memorials, and a box lunch. Ticket agents and passengers lined the ropes as veterans emerged from the charter jets into the terminal. The event was even featured on CBS Sunday Morning. Shortly after, HonorAir merged with Earl Morse’s Honor Flight Network. In the Spring of 2008, Senator Bob Dole nominated both Earl Morse and Jeff Miller for the prestigious Presidential Citizens Medal. The medal was awarded to Morse and Miller by President George W. Bush in the Oval Office in December of 2008. An honor flight of 100 people, including both the veterans and volunteers, costs about $30,000. Costs are covered by donations with assistance from the airline. As of 2014, the group grew to 133 chapters serving veterans in 41 states and the District of Columbia. In 2015 the first all-female honor flight was held, with 140 female veterans. Southwest Airlines is the official commercial airline of the Honor Flight Network, although the network utilizes many national airlines. A 2012 documentary, Honor Flight: One Last Mission, showcased the lives of four World War II veterans who were part of the first Honor Flight from Milwaukee's Stars and Stripes Honor Flight Hub. The Honor Flight Network recognizes American veterans for their sacrifices and achievements so they can see THEIR memorial at no cost. Honor Flight Network has expanded to include Korean War and Vietnam War veterans. In order for Honor Flight Network to achieve this goal, guardians fly with the veterans on every flight providing assistance and helping veterans have a safe, memorable and rewarding experience. If you are a veteran or know of someone who is a World War II veteran or a veteran with a terminal illness, find an Honor Flight Hub near the veteran and contact that hub on their behalf to apply. Most importantly, honor flights are free to veterans. Unfortunately, like many things this year, the Covid virus led to a postponed 2020 flight season. The Better Business Bureau accredited charity, The Honor Flight Network, can use your help even while flights are postponed. With the recent flight cancellations, in their place, parades of
patriotic cars and trucks have lined up and rolled through streets and neighborhoods to honor veterans. You can volunteer to be a guardian on the flight or become an Honor Flight sponsor. Another important part of the flight experience is “Mail Call” in which the veterans are given cards and letters to thank them for their service. The organization is always looking for help to fill up their mailbox. Even if you do not have the money to donate or sponsor, you can help by sending thank you cards, letters and notes for the veterans. You can let our heroes know you appreciate them and all they have done for our country. You can show your love and gratitude by helping to fill up their mail call supply. The deadline is usually 2 weeks prior to each flight, however you can still send them even though flights are on pause right now due to the pandemic. I think it can also make a great idea for your children who are home from school right now & working on their writing skills. Why not have them write some letters or create some cards for the veterans as part of their school work, just like having a pen pal. I have seen how much the veterans appreciate letters and cards of appreciation. Spread the word to your family and friends, schools, and civic and church groups and send the mail to the address below. Honor Flight of West Central Florida P.O. Box 55661 St. Petersburg, FL 33732 Thanks in advance for your assistance!
As Will Rogers said, “We can’t all be heroes. Some of us have to stand on the curb and clap as they walk by.” To apply as a veteran or guardian, find nearby flight hubs, donate, become an honor flight sponsor, or for more general information, visit

7/17/20 Welcome back everyone!!! I hope you all are doing well. I know things seem really crazy right now for us! We are just taking it a day at a time! As things seem to drastically change daily, we have quit trying to predict what's coming next! As most of you know, we are small business owners, and we own two different types of businesses. One is a large bridal and formalwear store, (all brand new merchandise) and the other is an upscale consignment shop. (all previously owned merchandise) It's interesting to see what each business is doing through all this craziness! Both stores were on track for record breaking years before this pandemic hit…The bridal and formalwear store took the initial hit the hardest when the schools shut down! It was like they locked our doors, as the uncertainty of the kid's proms were leading to no one shopping! (Prom is usually our biggest revenue generator for the year) Worse than that, we had customers now demanding refunds!!! It's been rough! The consignment business suffered the initial hit too, but quickly revved back to life as we were able to get our online/ Facebook sells to tote us through these tough times! As I said, we are taking it a day at a time and we are very appreciative of any decent day we have at the businesses right now! A bad day from the past is now considered a great day in today's craziness! I just pray things get back to the old normal soon! I'm thankful for what we have, and I realize there are some businesses that won't survive this! It is sad and depressing! Enough about this…Let's go racing… We had left off with a BIG win in Flomaton Alabama in our last article, so let's pick up from there… June 20th…Deep South Speedway in Loxley Alabama…We started 4th in our heat race and won it, which put us starting on the pole for the Feature! Our teammate, Jade Luzenberg, won his heat race as well so he was starting beside Chase on the front row for the feature. Feature race time…Chase pulled out front and went on to win another feature race for the 2020 season!!! WOOOOHOOO!!!!
24
AUGUST 2020
Very exciting as we celebrated with the Luzenberg's and family in Victory Lane! I noticed Chase left his car running while in victory lane and I later found out why…Our engine was on its last leg and Chase was afraid it wouldn't fire back up if he shut it off! You know what they say in racing, an engine always runs it's best just before it BLOWS!!! Well, we had just come off with 2 feature wins in a row and here we are…Chase told me that it was sounding weird and just didn't have any power anymore! Hmmm… We were convinced that the problem was in the top-end. We pulled the heads off Sunday evening and was looking for a quick freshening from a local engine builder to get us back going without missing a race. We were set to put it back together Wednesday, but an early morning call from the builder left us frantically looking for other options! He didn't get the correct parts in and we were out of time to get what we needed before the weekend! We borrowed an engine from a friend (with the option to buy) and we spent all day Thursday swapping parts and trying to make everything work together! It was a mess…nothing was the same, so we kept having to figure out which parts worked with others to get it together! At last, Thursday evening we were ready to fire it up! NOPE!!! Wrong starter/flywheel combination!!! So, we hadn't come this far to stop now! We searched and searched everywhere for the correct flywheel and couldn't find what we needed anywhere! SO…. Unfortunately, we spent the day Saturday pulling the engine back out and returning it. We were totally bummed out that we couldn't race that weekend! Chase made a comment in our YouTube vlog that we were looking to trade our open trailer for an engine. That comment lead to us receiving a phone call from a fellow racer who had a good back-up engine, but he was needing a nice open trailer! DEAL!!! We met up and traded Sunday evening and within an hour we had the engine fired off and running! We spent the weeknights going over everything as we prepared for the upcoming two-night show at Deep South Speedway for the 4th of July weekend. We arrived Friday with our new powerplant ready to rip! We were 2nd fastest in hot laps but made the wrong adjustment for qualifying which put us 4th quickest in qualifying! We started 2nd in the Heat race Friday night and Chase got out front and led it flag to flag which earned us the 3rd starting position for the big show Saturday night! Rain, rain, and more rain Saturday evening! Yep, it was a washout as they had to postpone the big show! The race has been rescheduled for Saturday July 18. We decided to travel to McComb MS on July, 11th for our first time visit to Pike County Speedway! With $1,500 going to the winner and a nice payout throughout the field, it was no surprise to see 23 of the best modifieds in the South ready to battle! We started 4th in the first of 4 heat races. Chase drove us to 2nd and was working on the lead when a caution grouped everyone
www.GulfCoastMotorSports.com
back together. On the restart we got pinched back to 3rd where we eventually finished. We would start 9th in the 23 car feature. Chase spent the first half of the race just maintaining his position until a caution flag waved where he decided it was time to GO! Chase restarted 9th where he precisely drove his way to 4th in less than 3 laps! We were QUICK!!! Another caution grouped everyone together again where Chase began working on that 3rd place spot! As Chase took over the 3rd position, another caution waived which made Chase have to go back to 4th. On this next restart, Chase was right on his mentor, Noah Daspit, who was in a hard battle for the lead! As they came out of turn 2 the leader chopped down, and Noah had to get on the binders hard which left Chase with 2 options and no time to think about it! He could either run over Noah, or spin himself in the infield to stay off of Noah! Easy decision, as Chase turned his car sideways and pointed it towards the infield, he barely missed a huge tractor tire that is used to keep the corners honest. Chase whipped back straight and throttled thru the infield all the way down the back straightaway! He had went from 3rd to 9th but he got back to work immediately! He cleanly passed several competitors in the final laps as he crossed the white flag in 6th position! He was
determined to get a top 5 finish. As he focused only on the car in front of him down the back straightaway, he didn't see what was coming ahead in the final turn of the race! A couple cars had tangled, and one was spun blocking the track! Chase couldn't miss him as he slid in and made contact! Our night ended right there!!! The checkered flag in sight!!! ‌the car we were racing with for 5th ended up 3rd and we came home broken and bent with a 12th place finish! Oh well! That's racing. We honestly had a great run and an awesome night all things considered! Our friend and teammate, Noah Daspit did get the victory, so that was pretty awesome too! Our other teammate Jade had a good run going too, but he had to pit because he had a tire go down on his car. I was surprised to see that our car didn't look very damaged after the race. However, once we really looked it over in the shop, we found quite a bit of suspension damage. We have it repaired and ready to go racing again as I'm typing! We are ready for the makeup race at Deep South Speedway tomorrow night! Thank y'all for reading!!! Be sure to check out our Facebook page for more details and videos of our racing adventures! Just google search, Chase Holland Racing and it should pop up our Facebook page. Until next time‌Chavus

Copied from someone but really thought it needed to be shared.........Just thought I would write a little about drag racing. There might not be a perfect world but the drag strip comes as close as I have found. In a world obsessed with race, sex, and politics in this place all that Stuff gets left at the gate. No one gives a dang if you are black or white, brown or tan, male or female, old or young, just are you fast, can you run the number, are you safe. The track cuts through all that separates us. Walk around the pits you will see old men taking parts out of their trailers or off there cars so some youngster can make the next round. Men rooting for women to win just because they want to see more women in the sport. White crews for black drivers and vice versa. Hispanic young men taking the tires off their race cars to loan them to the guy they just lost to last round and caught a flat on the return road. I miss the track I miss racing. The track serves so much more than just a place to drive my car it cleanses me from all the crap that builds up in my daily live, and reminds me that all of us are equal . So for those that have never been come to the drag strip come see what for me is my little piece of heaven..... Jessie Donaldson

Cruisin’ Registration Deadline Nears Time is running out to get your ride registered for CRUISIN’ THE COAST 2020. EARLY REGISTRATION ENDS AUGUST 15 It’s creeping up soon and you don’t want to miss it. You’ve got time, but you have to hurry. August 15 will be here and gone soon. If you’re not registered, you can do so online at www.cruisinthecoast.com . If that isn’t your thing, you can also find a registration form on our website that is fillable and printable. Simply complete it and mail it in to us with your payment. Online registrations must be completed prior to midnight, August 15, when the system will close. Faxed registrations (228-385-3842) must be time-stamped prior to midnight, August 15. Mailed registrations must be postmarked no later than August 15. Early registration includes a mailed registration confirmation card, which when turned in at Cruise Central, gets you in the running for one of 10 $500 cash prizes. It also gets you a free participant t-shirt, which is not available to those registering on site. Best of all, it only costs $60 to register early. If you wait until you get to Cruise Central, it will cost you $90 and you don’t get the free stuff. If you’re not sure if you’ve registered, give us a call at 228-385-3847, M-F, 8 a.m.-3 p.m., CST. We’ll happily check that for you. Now go get registered! Hello Everyone: We hope this finds you all well, healthy and happy. Let’s answer the big question most of you have: Cruisin’ The Coast 2020 is still a “GO” as of this writing. We are moving ahead with our plans and hope for the best in October, which is still a little ways away. As you will see inside, we have been busy pulling everything together, planning to see you in October. We’ve been placing a lot of focus on health and safety. We will follow federal, state and local guidelines as best we can, with your help. To that end, we will take enhanced measures for you, our volunteers and guests. We are bringing on additional (twice as many) hand-wash stations. Portable facilities will be thoroughly cleaned and sanitized each morning and again during the day. Our volunteers will be issued masks, hand sanitizer and gloves. Of course, we are depending on you to take appropriate personal protections and recognize and practice safety recommendations as well. To help follow social distancing protocols, we are making changes to the package pick up and on-site registration procedures. Please read the instructions within closely. We ask for your understanding and cooperation. In the event we are required to cancel this year’s Cruisin’, our plan is to either refund your 2020 fee or roll it over to next year. But we won’t think about that now! Those details will be published when and if needed. Cruise Central will be back at Centennial Plaza this year. Last year was a learning experience for us and for you. Inside you’ll find suggestions for making the registration experience better all around. From the “cool as it gets” department, CTC will again host a leg of the Street Rodder Road Tour. They will be making appearances at select CTC venues and will have evening showcases at the IP Casino Resort Spa. They are a great bunch of hot rodders and very entertaining to talk to. It has been a much different spring and summer for all of us. We are hoping CTC will bring some much-needed relief and happiness. Remember, early registration ends at midnight AUGUST 15, so get that done! We’ll see you soon, Woody Bailey Vice Chairman & Executive Director
