Cruizin’ in the passin’ lane By: Jimbo On August 16 I took the day off, backed out the ol’ ’29, loaded up Nancy and headed to Wiggins, Ms. for the 4th annual Red Creek Classics picnic & Cruise-in. What a great day! Over 200 cars all parked in the shade, by a lake, surrounded by trees and food!! Hey it don’t get much better than that. The Red Creek Classics folks greeted Nancy and me with “Welcome to our back yard” and what a back yard Flint Creek park has to offer. It was nice to see folks visiting with different groups surrounding the air conditioned dining hall. Silent auction, 50/50 and music filled in all the activities. I think best of all I didn’t see a glum face in the crowd. To all I say Nancy & I had a nice day. Thank you.. Now you might ask why I got all mushy and stuff but let me explain. After a great day at the park it was back to work. A magazine deadline is waiting and it doesn’t wait even for the editor. So I made a stop at the post office, picked up the last of the mail then settled in behind the desk. One piece of mail felt different and so I opened it first. And here is a retype of what I received.. www.GulfCoastMotorSports.com

August 12 ,2014 Hey there... I was a participant last weekend (August 8-10) at one of the bigger and better car shows in our area each season. It is called the “Bloomsburg Nationals” and is held at the fairgrounds in Bloomsburg, Pennsylvania. While checking out the swap meet section, I came to a table that had stacks of “Gulf Coast Motorsports Magazine” on it as well as flyers for other upcoming car shows and events. I was not familiar with your magazine and was curious. I picked up a copy of each of the June, July and August, 2014 issues and put in my bag to look at later. It was not until yesterday that I got the chance to really look thru them and discovered where they were printed and what area's car events were covered. WOW! How these regional magazines ever got this far North is beyond me. But what a nice surprise! Even though the focus is on car happenings a long way from here, I enjoyed looking at the pictures and reading the articles, etc. I like your magazine a lot! The content and style is “right up my alley”. After combing thru my three sample issues of your magazine, it is easy to see that the car hobby and all the fun stuff that goes along with it is alive and well in the Gulf Coast area. Looks like Southern style hot rodding is as much fun as up North. In fact, you all might be having more fun than us! Your warmer climate allows you to enjoy a longer outdoor show, cruise and activity schedule than we get. Severe cold, deep snow, ice and hot rods don't mix! I have many relatives in Northern Louisiana and some in Texas. I went thru some schools and training in the Gulf area while I was serving in the US Army during the Vietnam era but is has been many years since I was in your neck of the woods. Currently I am in the middle of a major re-building project on my 1934 Ford Tudor Sedan street rod. The real steel body is celebrating its 80th birthday this year. By the time work on these upgrades is finished and the car is ready for the highways again I will be closing in on retirement and ready for a vacation. Looks like the Gulf Coast area would be a perfect destination for some well deserved relaxation, good food and fun with cars! With this thought in mind, I want to keep up with what is going on in your area. Would like to start a subscription to your enjoyable magazine. Keep up the nice work. Bye for now and thank you. Sincerely, Rich S. … Jersey Shore, Pa.

- Public Welcome -

Thanks Rich for the great letter. Kinda makes it all worth while. ...ed Jimbo, Two little boys are going to the hospital the next day for operations. Theirs will be first on the schedule. The older boy leans over and asks, "What are you having done?" The second boy says, "I'm getting my tonsils out, and I'm afraid." The first boy says, "You've got nothing to worry about. I had that done when I was four. They put you to sleep, and when you wake up, they give you lots of Jell-O and ice cream. It's a breeze." The second boy then asks, "What are you going in for?" The first boy says, "Circumcision." "Whoa!" the smaller boy replies. "Good luck, buddy. I had that done when I was born. Couldn't walk for a year." Jimbo, I met an older woman at a bar last night. She looked pretty good for a 60+ year-old. In fact, she wasn't too bad at all, and I found myself thinking she probably had a really hot daughter. We drank a couple of beers, and she asked if I'd ever had a Sportsman's Double? 'What's that? I asked. 'It's a mother and daughter threesome,' she said. As my mind began to embrace the idea, and I wondered what her daughter might look like, I said, 'No, I haven't.' We drank a bit more, then she said with a wink, 'tonight's your lucky night.' We went back to her place. We walked in. She put on the hall light and shouted upstairs: 'Mom...you still awake?' I hope to see ya’ll at Hot Rod Alley this year. ……. Jimbo

This summer is going to fast. August is half gone. The Coast Cruizers did have a dinner cruise in July. There was twenty people who showed up for our outing. We went to Café Orleans on Lamey Bridge Road in Biloxi. If you haven’t been there you need to go for some good Cajun food. Some of it is a little spicy and others are not. The seafood platter is $20, but if you order another baked potato and side salad, 2 people can split it. It has that much food on it. Now if you want a taste of several things, get the sampler plate. You get four bowls of different Cajun food. Gumbo, crawfish etouffee, red bean and rice, shrimp Creole. They have all of the other seafood you find on the Coast along with steaks, burgers and po-boys. Me when I go to a seafood restaurant I get seafood I can’t see ordering a steak or burger. A shrimp or oyster po-boy is ok. Some people don’t like seafood. If you need something start off with the fried dill pickles are good and if you want to go to the wild side try the fried alligator tail. The café has remodeled some and now has a bigger meeting room to hold a larger group of people. We will be returning to the café again. After the dinner we went across the interstate to the Gearhead cruise in. Till we eat again J. R. www.GulfCoastMotorSports.com

by Candy Cocktail One of my favorite local places for beautiful, timeless cars and an old school Friday night is Biff Burger and Buffy’s Barbeque in St. Petersburg, Florida. I have been coming here since I was a kid. Yet unlike other places that modernize and do away with tradition, Biff Burgers has embraced its tradition in the Tampa Bay area for over 29 years by continuing to give car enthusiasts, visitors and retro fans like myself a good old fashioned Friday night. They still have the Friday Night Cruise In every Friday night, featuring live music and classic cars. On the first Friday of the month they feature special events in addition to the car show, giving away trophies and having a drawing worth a minimum of $250.00. The Friday Night Cruise In starts at 6pm and runs until approximately 10pm, even though they remain open until 12pm for those that don’t want the party to end early. In addition to classic rides and rat rods, you may even see some custom cars like a vehicle completely devoted to POWs or a recognizable movie favorite like Doc’s car from Back to the Future. Biff Burger is a favorite gathering place of classic cars, street cars and hot bikes. It remains the largest of its kind in the country.

In addition to their famous Friday night car show, they feature themed nights and specials all week long! NASCAR Sundays is a big hit with the locals and Thursday is customer appreciation day. Wednesday and Saturday are Bike Night. Bike Night at Biffs in just as popular as the Cruise In, with free registration, live entertainment and a free $1000 cash giveaway on the last Wednesday of every month. Tuesday is Ladies Night from 6 pm until close with $1.50 drinks for the ladies, live music and a blind draw cornhole tournament. Biff Burger and Buffy’s Barbeque is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner, serving up specialty Hickory-smoked barbeque and traditional American favorites like hamburgers and hot dogs. Offering nostalgia with great prices, they have an outside bar and a full menu, even during the car show. It is likely that Biff’s has remained a local favorite not just because of their traditions and customer appreciation, but because they give back to the community in big ways. Biff’s Kids is their charity that regularly has bike shows, raffles, rides, auctions and toy drives to benefit children and local families. In November they will have their 4th Annual active Military and Veteran Poker Run to benefit our local VA Hospital and Mac Dill Air Force Base’s Family Services. Some of you may have even heard of the legendary Biff-Burger. Over the years many locations have closed down, but at one time it was a fast growing chain of burger drive-ins. Started in the mid-

8

SEPTEMBER 2014

The original Biff-Burger Drive-In

1950's by the National Biff-Burger System, the chain spread across North America as far south as the Clearwater/Largo area of Florida and stretched as far North as Toronto, Canada. Biff-burger was mostly known for their signature "broiled" burgers lathered in their tangy special sauce made with 27 spices! Today there are only two Biff-Burger locations left in operation; the first location in St. Petersburg, Florida which still uses the same name and has many of the classic and original Biff-Burger architectural features. The second location is located at 1040 West Lee Street in Greensboro, North Carolina. However it was renamed Beef-Burger in the 1980s. So if you find yourself in central Florida on a Friday night be sure to visit Biff-Burger for a journey back in time to a 50s style diner with cars, bikes, food and fun people just like the good old days. But Where Are They Now? The little green Gremlin also known as "Gizmo" was rescued from a backyard in Gulfport in July, 2000. Even though we were among the few who had never owned a Gremlin, we began to restore him to his former glory with hard to find parts. A lot of trim pieces were from a 74 owned by Robbie Robinson. With a little ingenuity and some spray paint most things fit our 73. Tracy Allen gave it an expert paint job, Mustang Grabber Green, that's almost the same as the original color. The interior is a black and white hounds tooth by David Ladner. The rest of the parts came from Mike Lakins, a Gremlin guru in Reno, Nevada, Barry's U Pull-it and EBay. We installed a 92 Jeep drivetrain donated by Cotton Smith of Cotton's 4-Wheel Drive. In October 2004 he was not only complete, but pretty hot. He got to show off inside the theater of the Grand Casino Gulfport since a lot of Cruisin the Coast was rained out that year. During hurricane Katrina he was in a garage in the backyard 1/2 block from the beach in Long Beach. When the 5+ feet of water came in, it caused him to float into one of the interior pillars of the garage. It took out the driver's door, the left rear quarter panel, the interior, and added assorted dents everywhere. We were pretty sure he was a total loss, but he was

10

SEPTEMBER 2014

rescued this time by Carl Holliman of 3 C's Towing. Carl hauled him up on a flatbed wrecker and took him home where he put him on a hoist and power washed everything. That is the only thing that saved the little Gremlin from the junkyard. It took another Jeep engine donated by Cotton and Christine Smith, this time a 97 fuel-injected, another interior by David Ladner and 5 years to put him back on the road. We found a Hornet door in Clinton, MS that almost fit. Tracy Allen cut it down and Mike from Reno found a door glass. Frank Rose, dent removal specialist, did the final touches on the body. Jason Lefler painted the new door and blended the new paint with the 10 year old paint until it matched perfectly. The new dash and miscellaneous parts came from River Rags in Mobile. Finally, it was ready for Cruisin the Coast 2010, but the old engine was pretty tired, so we reworked it in 2011. His greatest achievement so far was the trophy for Best AMC at the March, 2013 Big Easy Mopar show in Kenner, LA. Be sure to look for the little green Gremlin at Cruisin the Coast and local car shows. He's the only one. The Masked Cruiser from the Sun Herald wrote a nasty article in 2004 claiming that Gremlins were the ugliest car ever

made, and he couldn't understand why anyone would spend the time and money to restore one. Gizmo replied in Sound Off that although nearly everyone either owned one or knew someone who owned a Gremlin, where are they now? Without the help and encouragement of the following people, Gizmo would undoubtedly have become Chinese yard art at some point: Carl Holliman, Cotton and Christine Smith, Tracy Allen, Mike Lakins, Robbie Robinson, David Ladner, Jason Lefler, Frank Rose, and everybody who cheers as he drives by. ……… Beverly Painter

Its August 11th and the Tony Stewart Sprint Car racing accident with the young (20) race driver is getting a lot of ink on T.V. (Even Fox). I would like to point out that about 4 things are not mentioned in Tony’s favor! If you watch the T.V. Tony’s car (right rear wheel) hits the victim in the left front wheel. If the “kid” had lifted a tiny bit off the throttle, no wreck! He then could have dropped behind Tony and attempted to pass him back in the next corner. (if he could stay with the champ) I drove midgets and stock cars for 12 years, 1948-1961. Only drove stocks in 1956 & 1957, all the rest were midgets, and once in a while a sprinter when asked. If you want to be “world champ” you stay on the gas and die! As did the “kid”. Others included Tony Bettenhausen, Eddie Sachs, Vuki Senior1955, Vuki Jr. 19990 Geo Amick 1959, Jack McGrath & Manny Ayulo 1955. I can go on but “win it or wear it” was the description given to many of the 40’s , 50’s drivers. (That’s point #1 ) Just lift for ½ second, drop in behind & pass under him in the next corner if your car is good enough! (Point #2) It’s a dirt track, mud gets on drivers goggles, so they all have cover lenses they pull off & have clear vision. Perhaps the mud was there & Tony didn’t see the “kid” until too late! (Point #3) If you watch the T.V. clips, the blue & white car is in front of Tony blocking his view of the “kid” as Tony is coming out of the corner. He is sideways with the right rear tire “hanging out” and you can’t in 1/5 of a second slow down & straighten out & miss the “kid”. (Point # 4) The “kid” was facing Tony’s car, no car coming on his left, and he couldn’t throw himself to his left? He was braver than smart . (Point #5) Nascar (the cars that run with roofs, fenders, and doors) shows the drivers on T.V. throwing their helmets at the other cars, and running out on the track pointing with threatening gestures. They poke each other in the chest with stretched fingers (not fists) and all still have their helmets on! I’m sorry, but the “kid” should have read up on #13. Three guys were killed running that number. (I don’t know how many since 1950) (Mitch?) At my best count I ran 172 races from East Coast to West Coast, my total win column read 7. They were all on dirt, never won a pavement race. I got “upside down” only once in 12 years, and my good friend spun in front of me trying to pass me, he said his radius rod broke (?) and I woke up 20 hrs later in the hospital. Summary It was a dumb “thing to do for the “kid”) its nite, a dirt track, your doing it to get crowd approval, or feel OK about not “lifting” for 1/5 of a second and by the way, what position was the “kid” running in when Tony passed him? The (photo) you see here is me, in my neighbors (Willie Swift) car. He had broken his arm in a Gardena race, and we lived 2 blocks apart and were in business together known as “Swift & Dunham” selling racing parts and materials. (See photo) of ad, can you believe these prices? It was a 100 lapper ¼ mile at Orange Show Stadium, I had fast time in Willies #22 (he asked me to park mine) and run his so he could keep his points) and in a 100 lapper URA flipped a disc to see if quick time started in the back or front. If it came up black you started in front, there

12

SEPTEMBER 2014

were 22 cars on the ¼ mile for 100 laps. It came up black! I’m on the pole with fast time, Don Edmunds my pal, had 2nd quick and started beside me in front. I’m going down the back chute (straightaway) smiling under my face mask. I go into the last turn “high” on the cushion, I had won here before and set fast time many times, so I would “Diamond” the corner, go in high, and when you can see the starters stand with no infield in between you dive down, and drive straight for the fence in the middle of the chute, then stay high and repeat in the next corner. Weill “Rotten Red” spun out in front of me, (a few years ago, he told me he “broke a radius rod” and spun!) (This is a guy who built 500 or so midgets, and also the chassis that Evil Kneivel used with a jet to jump the Snake Canyon years ago!) I woke up 20 hrs later in the hospital, no broken bones, but a real bad concussion! I had flipped end for end 5 times! I’m deeply sorry the “kid” didn’t have certain rules laid out, (maybe he owned his own car). Most other new “kids” will learn from this, and let the stock car guys throw their helmets and poke fingers in the other guys chest (with helmets on!) Tony Stewart is a many time millionaire, and the “kids” family will probably sue. In the 40’s you signed a release at the track that you held all drivers, cars, and the assoc. and/or the complete facility harmless, and no responsibility for any damage to anyone, or anything. I remember when Bobby Allison and Cale Yarbrough wrecked each other, took off their helmets and started “duking it out” in the corner in the infield. Bobby wasn’t doing too good, so his brother Dannie (just as good a racer as Bobby) pulled in the corner, jumped out & started helping Bobby, - By that time the pit crews got there & broke it up. If you want to check the records on Google in the 40’s & 50’s a race driver died every week! No roll cages, no roofs, no doors, and do yourself a favor, watch “TO PLEASE A LADY” movie on TCM with Clark Gable & Barbara Stanwyck racing in the 40’s. It was on last week. Its open wheel from the midgets to the Indy 500. There is a bunch up there looking down as I write this & smiling.

To book DD Thunders Band : ddthunders100@yahoo.com Summer is almost over in in my favorite time of year is near. Oh how I love it when all the kiddies go back to school and the theaters are empty for the matinees. Then Hollywood start releasing Oscar worthy dramas instead of comic book superhero caped Crusaders in 3D! I have seen a few good movies this past summer and a bunch of stinkers so here comes three examples, we're like the good the bad and the ugly. Let's start with ugly, Little movie titled Begin Again. It stars were my favorite male actors Mark Ruffalo and English actress Kera Nightley. The storyline is about a recently fired record executive discovering a street performer and bringing her to stardom because of her talent. Too bad the director/writer and everyone else involved didn't show any talent. This is one of the worst movies I've ever seen I'm a big fan of Mark Ruffalo and I've enjoyed his work but lately it's one bad movie after the other. I also enjoy Keira Knightley's better movies but this one she might have been better off staying across the pond. Being a musician, I was interested in the plot but this celluloid piece of crap made me want to sell my guitars and become an insurance salesman. So let's not waste anymore time on this hour plus bomb and give it 3 out of 10 pics

American tale of rags to riches and perseverance through horrendous conditions. The music was portrayed honestly and was a powerful plot pusher and kept this fast-paced musical juggernaut moving as fast as James Brown's foot work. Mick Jagger was a producer and you can tell this was a labor of love. To watch what James had to go through in his journey to achieve his superstardom is inspiring for anyone who has obstacles in their life. The only thing I didn't like about this movie was it used of breaking the fourth wall. It must be a trend that started the Jersey boys. Good thing they didn't release is in 3-D like everything else this summer! Also, they did a lot of storyline skipping. Back and forth from when he was a child to an adult, making it confusing and kind of losing the dramatic point sometimes. What I liked most about this film that it showed Mr. Brown at his best and at his worst. This wasn't a fluff piece but you hard-hitting bio drama, gritty, rough and funky. Just like the godfather of soul's music, this film will hard-hitting in your face and Funk Fest and needs to be seen by all. I will really good this movie 8 out of 10 pics.

Next up is the bad, a major release title Lucy. It stars Scarlett Johansson and Morgan Freeman. This R-rated thriller was written and directed by Luc Besson. It has an interesting plot about a party girl who gets adducted with others and has illegal drugs inserted into their body so they can be mules and distribute a new designer drug around the world. The fun starts when the bag inside Scarlett Johansson's characters bust open and gives her 100% of her brains capacity and super powers never seen in the human world. She becomes hell-bent on finding her Doors and bringing them to a painful justice, brainiac style! Morgan Freeman plays a Dr whose expertise in the field of the minds power get him right in the middle of this international espionage and deadly revenge I fell in love wiyh Scarlet Johansen when I saw her in the classic film, Lost in Translation. But this film goes bad when it relies way too much on special-effects and not enough on the intrigue and the interesting idea of the script. The first part of the movie has plenty of intrigue and on the edge of your seat nervousness. But the second half focuses on Scarlett's character's ability to move matter and destroy anything in her path by mind power. So we get to spend about an hour watching people fly out windows, levitate, shoot themselves for their own guns etc. while Ms. Johansson destroys anything in her way. As far as Morgan Freeman's character, he spends half the movie scratching his head in amazement while watching all of his theories of the brains capacity come to life. It's more like he's doing a extra long cameo in this film. Hey, he's a busy man. He doesn't have time to watch the world get destroyed by a super brain beauty. He has more movies to make and $20 million check to cash. I will get this good idea but poorly executed movie 6 out of 10 pics.

Well, it's good to put summer behind us and get ready for fall releases. I've been doing a lot of traveling to the West Coast lately but will continue to bring you reviews of the best in the worst Hollywood has the offer. Keep those comments coming to dd thunders100@yahoo.com and thanks for your continued support for my column. See you at the matinees ddthunders100@yahoo.com

And here comes the good one. The James Brown bio flick titled, Get On Up. I've always been a big fan of James Brown and was excited when I finally heard they made this film. The script has been bouncing around Hollywood for years. At one time Prince was going to star in the true story of an American musical icon. Director Taylor chose to go with a little known actor Chadwick Boseman who delivers a powerhouse performance and might get a Oscar nod later this year. Character actor Nelson Ellis plays James Brown sidekick Billy Boyd and Dan Aykroyd turns in a solid performance of James Brown's long time manager. I liked almost everything about this movie. James Brown's life story is a classic www.GulfCoastMotorSports.com www.GulfCoastMotorSports.com

The Street Dynamics Overdrive Car Show - Paris, TN The Street Dynamics Overdrive Car Show was as close as you can get to being the perfect car show road trip. All car shows are good, some better than others and trips can have things go wrong that mess up the total experience, but this road trip was perfect beginning to end! The week of an out of town show is always hectic. Trying to cram five days worth of work into four days, plus getting everything ready so you are prepared gets you stressed out. If you’re ready you don’t have to rush, or end up forgetting something in your hast. We have figured out what we need to take and how to organize it to have a less stressful and prepared trip. The night before, I’m always anxious… last minute details and I end up staying up too late, have a hard time going to sleep and then have to get up early. It was after midnight when I got to bed and then fell asleep. We got up at 4:30 am and tried to leave by 5:30 AM, but it was closer to 6 when we pulled out. This trip was going to be a slower go because it was almost all state roads and very little Interstate. I tried going Interstate, but going through Memphis added over 100 miles and a couple more hours for the 470 mile trip. The country and towns we got to see made up for the stop signs and traffic lights we had to endure; it was very enjoyable. We pulled into the hotel in Paris, TN a little after 3 pm, got checked in and discovered the show had booked us a nice room with a giant whirlpool tub in our room. We got our room set up and then walked about 25 yards to where we were setting up the Hot Rod Show trailer. We got the trailer all set up as much as we could the day before and then it was time to walk another 20 yards to the Convention Center where the promoters were set up to feed all the car show participants all the fried catfish and fixings you could eat. After eating all that catfish, the hot tub was calling and a good night’s sleep after getting little of it the night before, driving all day, physical labor with the set up and then getting stuffed full of catfish. Paris, TN is famous for the World’s Biggest Fish Fry every April when over 12,500 pounds of catfish are cooked. It was a weeklong festival with beauty queens, parades and a lot of catfish. Paris, TN is a pretty area with rolling hills; it’s near the Kentucky line and one of the largest lakes in the U.S., the Kentucky Lake. That area is big on retirement with a lot of retirees living and visiting there. The Street Dynamics Overdrive Car Show promoters, Tim and Vicki Boyd were as well organized as it gets for putting on a car show. I had all the details of the show before we left on the trip, including an aerial map of the grounds and a decision of where the Hot Rod Show trailer would be set up and even the speaker placements. The show was at the local Convention Center/Hotel that was all one complex. The show featured the car show of course, parts swap meet, vendors both inside the convention center and outside, plus food vendors. Inside you could cool off and eat with plenty of tables set up. The promoter had probably 25 or 30 people

working the show that wore bright event shirts and everything ran very smooth. The weather was great, the turnout was great, we had 72 door prizes to give away and the Mega 50/50 was respectable at over $1,800 dollars. After we finished the show, we got the Hot Rod Show trailer loaded with some good help from the staff and it still took over an hour. Special thanks to our assigned staff people Jac Burke and Laura Dougherty, bless her heart, Laura was recovering from Spotless Lime Disease. It was time to find a great place to eat, so we asked around. Several people said go to Fresh Market. It was only a couple miles down the road and I knew it was going to be good because there was a long wait. The food was awesome and we headed back to the hotel room for another whirlpool stress reliever and another good night sleep. We slept like a log. We woke up at 5:30 AM and on the road by 6 AM with a stop by a fast food restaurant for a biscuit to go and it was on the road back home. On the way back, I promised Scotty we would take the time to stop by Elvis’s birthplace in Tupelo and the Classic Car Museum right down the road. We hit Tupelo about 10 AM and they were both closed and they didn’t open until 1 PM on Sunday. We got to walk around Elvis’s birthplace and read all the signs but didn’t get a chance to go in. Several people did the same thing while we were there, but we were not hanging around until 1 PM. It seems like both places would open earlier on Sunday during at least the summer months to capitalize on tourists driving through. That was the only negative thing about the entire trip, everything else went smooth as silk. Got a call on Monday after the trip about us doing a big car show in a major city in Texas…I’ll let you know if we work out the details. We are also working on a big show down in Florida if it pans out. We enjoy the traveling so much, the meetings of new folks, seeing different cars, car shows and performing the Hot Rod Show for them. We hope all trips go as smooth as this one went. There is nothing like a road trip to get you out of town, clear your head and be able to really enjoy that 17 FOREVER state of mind! Til next month…

We specialize in kustom paint work, collision repair, metal fabrication work, kustom one off bike parts, and we are your one-stop-shop. From a oil change to your full ground up kustom built bike. These photos, are of a 1995 Harley Softail Custom we converted into a bagger. A handmade inhouse handle bar has chrome hand controls with braid lines going to the brake, clutch, speedo and throttle. Oracle LED turn signal lights are mounted in the handle bars all this sits above the aftermarket headlight, and front custom made aluminum wheel. The tank sports a custom tank dash (has a hidden compartment looks like a acorn nut to hold down tank dash when you unscrew it you find a hidden compartment for your hand rolled cigarette.) a smoked speedo gauge lens finishes off the top. Underneath the tank we dressed out the power train with chrome heads and trans cover, aftermarket cam cover, derby cover, forward controls, a spike air cleaner kit (painted to match color of bike.) And our hand made in house exhaust pipes, wrapped with hot rod header wrap. A Harley touring style rear fender with factory Harley-Davidson saddle bags sit over the rear tire. Oracle LED turn signal lights are installed along with a set of 1950 Ford taillights with bright LEDs on the back of saddle bags. Youngblood Kustomz’s kustom paint job of charcoal grey, with burnt orange and root beer candy on top. Really makes this bike stand out in a crowd, Thank you for taking the time to read this and it would mean a lot to me and the boys if you would give us a call or like us on Facebook. Your assistance is needed in supporting the 5th Annual Wounded War Heroes Fishing Rodeo. This is a very important event for the brave men and women of our U.S. Armed Forces who have been wounded in the global war on terror. Our organization is proud to announce the 5th WWH’s Fishing Rodeo scheduled Aug. 22-24, 2014, hosted by Delta Marina in Empire, La. This event will allow veterans from around the country to socialize, network, and experience some of the amazing fishing that south Louisiana has to offer. The rodeo will kick off with a dinner meeting welcoming the captain’s, soldiers, and volunteers, followed by two days of competitive fishing. Tens of thousands of service men and women have been injured in the recent war on terror in Iraq and Afghanistan, many of them suffering traumatic brain injuries, amputations, and severe burns, which will retire them from service. Wounded War Heroes (501c3 non-profit organization EIN#: 27-0794499) was founded to show our appreciation to the men and women who have been wounded while in combat, by providing them with outdoor recreational opportunities upon their return home from fighting for our country. Our sole purpose is to show these veterans that they have not been forgotten for their courageous service to our country. All of WWH’s events will be paid for by soliciting donations. Donations are requested to help defray the cost of fuel, lodging, food and fishing supplies for this event. Sponsorships and in-kind donations are also welcomed. Money collected will directly benefit our wounded veterans to provide them with this unique outdoor recreational opportunity. 100% of each donation is spent to support this cause. No salaries are paid to anyone associated with WWH’s. Please Contact Emeric Watson for information at 985.960.1471 or semwatson@eatel.net. Please make checks payable to Wounded War Heroes (12360 Mill House Dr Geismar, La 70734) or go to our website www.wwhfr.com and donate online. Thank you for your time and consideration of what has become an annual event. Together, we can make a difference in the lives of U.S. troops who selflessly put their safety on the line every day. Please consider giving back to those who have already given so much. Please take a moment to see our new website and web link below to see details on the first Wounded War Heroes rodeo.
