When you’ve seen God bless you in the past—He’s given you a good job, promoted you, opened up doors—it’s easy to think, “I’ve got this down; just go on autopilot.” But you have to stay sensitive. What worked in the past may not work in the future. Yesterday’s attitudes, yesterday’s ideas, yesterday’s ways of doing things won’t take you into the future God has in store. Are you open to change, trying new things, being innovative? Or are you stuck in what worked in the past, comfortable, not wanting to stretch, doing what you’ve always done? You may have had things come against you that weren’t fair. You did your best, but a dream didn’t work out, your marriage didn’t make it, you lost a loved one. It was painful. Thoughts whisper, “It’s never going to change; this is as good as it gets. Just learn to live with it.” No, get ready; God is going to bless you in such a way that you don’t remember the pain of the past. It’s not going to be at the forefront of your mind. You’re going to be so filled with gratitude for all God has done that you don’t think about what you’ve been through. “God will not allow things to happen that won’t somehow move you to your destiny.” … Joel Osteen

Cruizin’ in the passin’ lane By: Jimbo I guess there is some good news this month. Our Lords of the land are letting some things open back up. We have a few shows and cruise-ins that are scheduled to take place this month and I sure hope they aren’t canceled at the last minute. Hard to believe so much has happened to all of us in such a short time. I remember cruising down Hwy 90 thinking how lucky I was to live in a mini Las Vegas, with twenty-four seven activities. Miles and miles of glitz and glamour. I love cruizin’ in my ’29 along the coast

highway.. then in 2005 hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast. It only took a few hours to destroy our comfortable life. The economic hit was terrible and lot’s of people were out of work. It has taken 15 years to build our way back up and we still say “you know before Katrina” when we talk about how things were. Five months ago the world got hit with a virus. All our lives have been impacted and everyone has their opinions of what is good for everyone else.. Time to rebuild. Now it will be “you know before the pandemic of 2020 ” Jimbo, Talk about magazines, well Automobile and Car Craft and Classic Truck, said no more home delivery, but gave me an internet code. Well Jimbo, you know us guy’s have to have something to read in the morning, EVERY MORNING, and I don’t have a computer in my bathroom!!! Thank god I still get Street Rodder, Hot Rod, MotorTrend and most of all Gulf Coast MotorSports Magazine. You talk about a laugh or two, well let me tell you it is more than that. Plus I recycle all those laughs when I cut them out of the magazine and send them to my sister in Las Vegas, Nevada. She gets a big kick out of them. So I say to you and your great crew, thank you, and please keep my magazine coming to me in the mail, or I just may get constipation!!!! Norm your BT buddy Jimbo, Thought our readers would like to read some of the comments people made 65 years ago in 1955. To some of us that were born in the 40’s it doesn’t seem that long ago. "I'll tell you one thing, if things keep going the way they are, it's going to be impossible to buy a week's worth of groceries for $20.00." "Have you seen the new cars coming out next year? It won't be long before $2,000.00 will only buy a used one."
www.GulfCoastMotorSports.com
"Did you hear the post office is thinking about charging a dime just to mail a letter?" "If they raise the minimum wage to $1.00, nobody will be able to hire outside help at the store." "When I first started driving, who would have thought gasoline would someday cost 29 cents a gallon. Guess we'd be better off leaving the car in the garage." "Kids today are impossible. Those duck tail hair cuts make it impossible to stay groomed. Next thing you know, boys will be wearing their hair as long as the girls." I'm afraid to send my kids to the movies anymore. Ever since they let Clark Gable get by with saying DAMN in GONE WITH THE WIND, it seems every new movie has either HELL or DAMN in it." "I read the other day where some scientist thinks it's possible to put a man on the moon by the end of the century. They even have some fellows they call astronauts preparing for it down in Texas." "Did you see where some baseball player just signed a contract for $75,000.00 a year just to play ball? It wouldn't surprise me if someday they'll be making more than the President." "I never thought I'd see the day all our kitchen appliances would be electric. They are even making electric typewriters now." "It's too bad things are so tough nowadays. I see where a few married women are having to work to make ends meet." "It won't be long before young couples are going to have to hire someone to watch their kids so they can both work." "Marriage doesn't mean a thing anymore. Those Hollywood stars seem to be getting divorced at the drop of a hat." "I'm afraid the Volkswagen car is going to open the door to a whole lot of foreign business." "Thank goodness I won't live to see the day when the Government takes half our income in taxes. I sometimes wonder if we are electing the best people to Congress." "The drive-in restaurant is convenient in nice weather, but I seriously doubt they will ever catch on." "There is no sense going to Lincoln or Omaha any more for a weekend. It costs nearly $15.00 a night to stay in a hotel." "No one can afford to be sick anymore, at $35.00 a day in the hospital it's too rich for my blood." "If they think I'll pay 50 cents for a hair cut, forget it!" Cubby

And in closing this month I leave you with this….. A minister decided to do something a little different one Sunday morning. He said "Today, in church, I am going to say a single word and you are going to help me preach. Whatever single word I say, I want you to sing whatever hymn that comes to your mind." The pastor shouted out "CROSS." Immediately the congregation started singing in unison, "THE OLD RUGGED CROSS." The pastor hollered out "GRACE." The congregation began to sing "AMAZING GRACE, how sweet the sound." The pastor said "POWER." The congregation sang "THERE IS POWER IN THE BLOOD." The Pastor said "SEX". The congregation fell into total silence. Everyone was in shock. They all nervously began to look around at each other, afraid to say anything. Then all of a sudden, way from in the back of the church, a little old 87-year-old grandmother stood up and began to sing "PRECIOUS MEMORIES".

This Month a few events have been happening with social distancing and common sense. Started this month with the Misfits Street Krewzers parade through 3 senior assisted living facilities. Woodland Village in Diamondhead, Dunbar in Bay Saint Louis and the White House in Pass Christian. Had over hundred cars/jeeps and bikes make the parade. The residents loved it. The next weekend was a fun get out from Corona cruise parade organized by Hellcat Mike. It started at Courthouse rd., cruised to Bay St Louis and then back along the beach to Ocean Springs. Had well over 200 car, bikes trucks and Jeeps on this one. Our next event was back with the Misfits Street Krewzers in Waveland for a parade from their Cruise in location thru Waveland and rode by several senior Living Communities. These residents were so happy to see us parade by with 25 plus cars/trucks to look at. Finished up that evening at the Misfits cruise in at Choctaw Plaza in Waveland. And to finish out the month we went to the Biloxi VA for their parade to honor our American Veterans and Health care workers. This one was big over 200 cars, trucks, jeeps and over 200 motorcycles bringing smiles to all the Veterans faces seen as we cruised slowly by them. Well hope everyone stays healthy/safe and we continue to recover as a World. Remember to watch for our friends out riding their bikes... Allen

January 2013 This was what the truck was originally intended to look like, Until Chase claimed it.
The past few months of this pandemic or dam panic, whichever you choose, has been quite productive for me in the carriage house. I have been socially distant for some time now, (since I've retired), so it has been easy for me to stay home. The weather has been quite cooperative of late too, which has allowed me to get paint on the doors of the Big Truck project. And now the doors reside in their natural place on the truck, and I have begun installing all of their internal stuff. Yes, I have made some remarkable headway in this long-time project. I even got my trusty tube bender out and bent up a nice vacuum line that I had been putting off for some time too. Most of the things I have accomplished were due to sheer boredom though I must admit. Now to get cracking on the Old Shovel head, but that's a whole nother topic. I can say its been tough seeing all of the car/bike events being cancelled. I just feel bad for all of the charities that have lost out due to the folks not being able to participate in most of these events too. Car and bike folks are some giving and caring folks, we help support each other's favorite charities as well as benefits. I can only hope when all of this panic is over, we can return to our fun with cars and bikes things we have been so accustomed to. We all collectively missed out on some really nice events, and I for one can only hope that most if not all get rescheduled this year. Maybe things will settle down after this covert 19 passes. I most certainly miss visiting with all of the gearheads and car and bike folks that I have come to know and enjoy. Oh, and I for one am not at all happy with the term the New Normal, its far from new and will never be normal. I liked what we did and how we lived and I don't want to change that. Despite what our alleged leaders profess, the sky is not falling, and this too shall pass. Later from the far west coast of Mississippi, ‌. Gizmo.

By: Joyce Lachaussee This is the second month without a Hardee's Breakfast Cruise In due to the Coronavirus. Everyone is getting cabin fever and want to get out and do something - anything! The Breakfast Gang hopes this finds everyone well and staying safe. We miss seeing our friends and just enjoying our cars together. Well we decided to do a different type of cruise this month - one where we were following safety guidelines. We had a “Thank You HEROES cruise. We met in Lucedale at the old Wal-Mart Shopping Center parking lot and lined up. We had incredible support from the Lucedale Police and Fire Department directing, leading and blocking traffic. It made our cruise safe and enjoyable. We cruised to several Nursing and Assisted Living Homes, George County Medical Center, George County Hospital, George County Rehab and Edwards Drugs. Some of the cars were decorated and several made signs for our Heroes. Melvin and Cathryn Howard, Tom and Kathy Browning and Mike and I had cute homemade signs. Terry & LuJean Webb decorated their car with
flags in honor of the war heroes and veterans and the 75th anniversary of the end of WWII. Dwayne and Olene of Wiggins were in their decorated jeep and participated as first time cruisers in Lucedale. At the end of our cruise, we all were invited back to Rocky's Diner at Edwards Drugs for a FREE milkshake. He did not have to ask this bunch twice. These are photos of some of our Heroes and participants in our Heroes Cruise. It sometimes takes so little to make a difference in another person's day. As we were coordinating with all the locations, we were surprised to see the level of excitement for the doctors/nursing staff and those who are residents or patients. This little cruise provided a diversion from their normal routines and made a happy moment from all this worry about the VIRUS. We all are anxious to return to normal, but we may now experience a new normal for a while. Be thankful we are in the USA and not in a third world country or China! Remember - this too shall pass. From the Lucedale Hardee's Breakfast Gang, stay safe and keep on Cruisin'.

Leon Levavasseur Cadillac & Henry Ford These three names all were instrumental in the development of the V8 engine, the engine whose sound is unmistakable. First introduced by 39 year old Frenchman Leon Levavasseur in 1902, when he took out a patent for the first V8 engine he called the Antoinette. The Antoinette was named after the daughter of his financial backer. The Antoinette enjoyed a brief run between 1903 and 1912 powering monoplanes, racing boats and early passenger cars using lightweight 20 or 50 horsepower V8’s. Levavasseur witnessed his invention become the most popular engine in automotive history, but died in 1922 before seeing the Ford Motor Company, General Motors and Chrysler perfect it. Perhaps the most important improvement on the original invention is Henry Ford’s one-piece version with a down draft carburetor application. It remained unchanged for nearly 20 years. The first mass-production automobile V8 was introduced in the United States in a 1914 Cadillac, a division of General Motors and has been primarily a V8 company ever since. Henry Ford ran the Ford Motor Company in 1932 when they made the V8 affordable to the emerging mass market consumer for the first time. Since then the V8 engine has become the most reliable and efficient engine in history to power the automobile. The idea of an internal combustion engine was first designed in 1680 by a Dutch physicist named Christian Huygens. It was never built. It took until 1807 before anyone attempted to construct this engine, and their tries were met with limited success. The Ford Flathead V8 is a V8 engine with a valve in block configuration, designed by the Ford Motor Company and built by Ford and various licensees. It was the first independently designed V8 engine built by Ford for mass production. It ranks as Ford’s most important development. Before development of the Ford flathead V8, almost all massproduced cars affordable to the average consumer used inline-four and inline-six cylinder engines. Multi-cylinder V-engines (V8, V12, V16’s) were produced, but were used in Cadillacs and other luxury cars with their limited production runs. Even though Ford Motor Company had an engineering team who developed this engine,
many of the ideas and innovations belonged to Henry Ford. This engine was developed between 1926 and 1932, and this period was Henry Ford’s last central contribution to the company’s engineering. An economizing design feature of this engine was the use of three main bearings to support the crankshaft, rather than the customary five bearings used with most V8’s. The flathead
mounted the camshaft above the crankshaft, like later pushrod operated overhead valve engines. Valves for each bank were mounted inside the triangular area formed by the “V” of cylinders. The intake manifold fed both banks from outside the “V”, but the exhaust ports had to pass between the cylinders to reach the outboard exhaust manifolds. This arrangement transferred exhaust heat to the block, causing a huge cooling load. It required far more coolant and radiator capacity than equivalent overheadvalve V8 engines. Ford flathead V8’s were notorious for cracking blocks if their barely adequate cooling systems were over taxed, such as with towing or racing. The simple design was fertile for improvement, and the power available after even low cost modifications was usually substantially more than could be obtained from an overhead-valve inline six-cylinder engine of similar displacement. Although there have been many great sounding engines over the decades, from various cylinder layouts, almost all V8’s sound special and are beloved by car enthusiasts. There have been many improvements to the internal combustion engine over the years, engines are now smaller, more efficient, more powerful, produce fewer emissions and are more reliable. The passion towards the V8 design ensures that it will endure.

By Candy Cocktail The jet cars are a personal favorite of mine at any drag race, with their sleek shape and fiery roar. Now the jet dragster is becoming a Jet Limo as the first of its kind to land on roadways. Coming to the famous Mecum Auctions this year, is a vehicle that is just 'plane crazy.' For the first time, the auction is featuring a Learjet limo. The Limo-Jet recently finished turning heads on its national tour. The limo, dubbed the Learmousine, is a combination of a jet and limo. With a candy apple red exterior and black and red interior, the Learjet is powered by a gasoline 8 cylinder engine. The creation of the “Learmousine” began in 2005 when the concept was introduced to the Chicago based company, Exotic Coach, already well known for their wild rides. The original designer, Dan Harris, began the jet's construction in Bend, Oregon where he spent around two years to construct the rear engine bay, drive train, suspension, electrical and computer systems.
As the vehicle progressed, their vision grew and more details were added. The fabricators wanted a sleek roadster to compliment the custom 28-inch red and black Diablo wheels with Kumho 325/25R28 tires. The “cockpit” is complete with rows of switches, plus a steering wheel and panel of instruments from a first generation Chevrolet Silverado. Four screens surround the cockpit to display the various camera angles around the limo.

JUNE 2020
The Learmousine took over 40,000 man hours of work to complete, yet it is the undisputed king of both the skies and the limousine world. Jetsetters can sit on diamond-stitched leather seats and an infinity floor.
For maneuvering in tight spaces, the tips of the tail plane on the vertical fin fold inward. The Limo-Jet has side-mounted jet turbine engines, a steel skeleton frame and Hydroboosted brakes. This giant limo is powered by an 8.1 liter Vortec-V-8, 400 HP truck engine and has seating for 18 guests. Like any average stretch limo, the Limo-Jet has the standard fancy features, including a 42 inch flat screen TV, lights and a minibar. The electrical system and full suspension were built from the ground up. With a 17,000 watt audio and video system between the inside and outside speakers, the Limo-Jet can play jet engine sound effects as you drive. If you decide to purchase the Limo-Jet, the sale includes a custom built 44 foot long 2017 Iron Bull trailer and a 2015 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 pickup truck that is powerful enough to pull the monster ride. The 42 foot long by 8 foot wide limo is not only street legal; it is also available for purchase at the upcoming auction, although no

starting price has been listed yet. The extra large limo will be featured at the Mecum Indy Auction July 10-18 at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Now owned by Jettersetter Inc., a company formed by Frank DeAngelo and Michael Kashevatsky, the Limo-Jet and its patent-pending design are the only one of its kind on the planet. The company is now working on the Limo-Jet 2, for which they have assembled a team of the best fabricators in the world. The Limo-Jet 2 will feature only the best and newest technology. Visit www.limo-jet.com to learn more and visit the link to the Limo-Jet's YouTube video. If you are interested in purchasing this high flying limo, it will be available for purchase in July, where like the popular song, you can literally leave on a jet plane.

Just so you know, COVID19 will officially end on November 4, 2020. Write it down. The day after the Presidential election it will be over. Allow me some rant and then I’ll tell you about some fun! Oh, let me interject this before I go on, I’ve been getting a lot of questions. Emerald Coast Cruizin in Panama City Beach, FL is on for November 11-14, get your registration in. Georgia Mountain Moonshine Cruise is still on for July 30-August 1. It all looks really good, both should be incredible shows. It looked like we were going to reschedule The Spring Street Festival Car Show in New Roads, LA down on the False River for Saturday June 6, but that did not happen, it has now been rescheduled for Saturday September 19, mark your calendars.
Now dealing with this pandemic on a daily basis and cabin fever is another. I was notified this week that I will be continuing to work from home at least until September 8. In ways I have loved working from home. I’m saving 140 mile commute, five days a week. I don’t have to get dressed up, have a dry cleaning expense or worry about shaving every day. My company has taken care of me well financially, but I miss so much in-person human interaction. I’m a people guy, I love visiting with my clients, taking care of business and having fun doing it. I can see the mental toll this quarantine can take on people, because I feel what it is doing to me. I so miss normal and I long for it to return to it and I know you do. Now my heart breaks for businesses and people suffering financial hardships, I don’t think any of us are immune to what this can do to everyone if we don’t get this economy up and running again. You have heard me say that the music we sell at the car shows was getting harder and harder to get. Every time I re-ordered I was told, no longer available on certain CD’s, always. This week I was notified that the one company I had used for seven years for CD’s was going under and permanently closing their doors… after 30 years in business. Gone! That hit me like a ton of bricks. I talked to the owner, I had his cell number, he said Terry I was barely holding on the last 10 years, but I kept downsizing for I knew this day was coming, COVID19 put me out! There will be huge amounts of businesses that will go under. Our world will forever be changed for what happened and what we have had to do the last 90 days.
I think we could have done the right thing flattening the curve of CORVID19, maybe, I even question that now, but now it’s all about politics. We shut down a $22 trillion dollar economy for a .1% death rate? The COVID19 numbers will be inflated due to the reimbursement by our government if COVID19 is listed as cause of death, so we’ll never know the correct numbers, my rant, and my belief. In 1969 we had a pandemic called the Hong Kong Virus, (H3N2 Virus) it killed over a million worldwide and over 100,000 Americans, what did we do?…we held Woodstock! Staying away from all germs, I predict, will have an impact on our immunity as a country.

On the bright side, businesses are starting to open back up. The beaches are now open in Florida. Ft Pickens National Park opened today (5/16/20) and I went surf fishing and got some vitamin D. I went early, was on the beach and set up by 6:30 am. There were maybe five cars in the parking lot, mostly fishermen. I caught an undersized Pompano and a giant Redfish that didn’t meet the keep requirements and had a great day. Awesome day!
We are all in this COVID 19 stuff together, supply runs or food runs are still the highlight of my days. History is 20/20, we’ll know a lot more about this as we exit it and then look back on it with evaluation. We must pray for our country and our leaders that they will make the right call. One thing I have learned is how fragile our lives really are even in a great country we live in like America. How something can come in overnight and crush us. The terrible thing is the bad players in world have also learned this fact. also. A fact that no nuclear bomb is needed to crush our country. Like you I’m really missing the car shows and car events. Check on your friends and family, make sure they are good physically and mentally! I’ll pray for you, please… pray for me! til next month…

About noon it was starting to get crowded, the parking lot was starting to fill up and I was hungry. You see I prepared two sandwiches and some snacks and left them sitting in the carport. I had drinks, but no food! As I got loaded up and drove home, the roads were packed coming to the beach. It looked like July 4th weekend. If you are familiar with Pensacola Beach, there are two large bridges you go over to get to the beach. The Bay Bridge and then what I call the $1 Toll Bridge. From the Pensacola Beach Ball to where you first turn to head to the bridges and into downtown Pensacola were backed up double lanes coming into the beach. I did the best thing, going early and leaving early. You’ll see the before and after photos here.

Welcome back everyone!!! I’m so thankful to see things start to get back to normal again! Well, SOMEWHAT normal! This has definitely been one of the wildest things I’ve ever experienced in my 43 years of living! I’m over this crap!!! Here’s a peek at what our quarantine life has been like… We we’re able to sneak in a secret practice session in Mississippi towards the end of the lockdown. Then, we heard about multiple tracks scheduling races, which got us excited! As the word spread like wildfire, these races were shutdown one by one by local authorities in multiple states! May 2nd, in Florida, was looking like our best chance to go sling some dirt, so we began preparing our hotrod for our first visit ever to Milton Florida’s Southern Raceway! They run a different tire package than us, so we had to spend $800 just to be legal to race by their rules! That hurt a little, but we desperately wanted to race! The only way the racetrack was allowed to race was with an agreement with local government that they would abide by all of Florida’s social distancing guidelines and they were not allowed to have fans in the stands! The track put together a plan to do a live pay-per-view broadcast to compensate for the loss of fan revenue! It was a HUGE success!!! The race was seen by people all across the US and we even had fans from our Facebook page in Canada who were tuned in! That’s pretty cool!

JUNE 2020
We did quite well, considering the competition! There were around 20, sure enough bad fast, modifieds in house for the first “Post Corona Pandemic” race! We started 5th in our heat and Chase drove us to 2nd! That put us starting 6th for the A-main! After multiple starts and re-starts early on, Chase was able to find his groove and stretch out to a comfortable 2nd place finish! That felt GOOD!!! We returned for round 2 the following weekend! We once again had a fast car, but not enough car to outrun their track favorite Ryan Fowler! He’s quick!!! Chase ran a comfortable 2nd most of the race, but a late race caution was not what we needed to see! He spun the tires and got doored on the start, which knocked him out of the groove where he dropped back to 6th place! He gathered it back up and raced his way back to a 4th place finish! Still another great run for the Young Gun! Next race, Flomaton, Alabama officials gave the green light to one of Chase’s favorite tracks, Tri-County Speedway! They offered a $1500 to win purse for the modifieds which was sure to bring some awesome racers! And it did!!! Chase started 3rd in the first heat where he finished 3rd! That had us starting 5th in. the feature where Chase quickly made his way to 3rd. He tried multiple lines to get a run on the 2nd place car who was obviously holding him up! While working on 2nd place, Tennessee hotfoot, Hunter Wilbanks was slowly creeping up on Chase through the field! When he arrived behind Chase, that made for a great show as Chase and Wilbanks ran side by side trying to get around Greg Hopkins for 2nd! With 2 to go Chase tried a high-side move in turn two but ran out of real estate and had to shut her down before climbing the guardrail! He gathered it back up and finished a respectable 4th behind Wilbanks and Hopkins with Chris Smith taking the win! Great racing! Awesome racetrack with some very friendly and appreciative owners! We will certainly be back soon! Thank you all for following along and be sure to check out our Facebook for more details and videos of our racing adventures! Just google search, Chase Holland Racing and it should pop up our Facebook page. Until next time…Chavus

This 1965 Olds Cutlass 442 convertible is a barn find, sporting the original rag top and willow green paint. It's driven on sunny days by Mike McKay, Executive Chef at Pearl River Resort. Mike has over 33 years of culinary experience and has been with the Resort since 2015. As the story goes, this beauty was bought by a West Virginia couple right off the revolving showroom display at the Oldsmobile dealership. The car was a daily driver for a housewife and eventually put in the family barn, where their daughter found it some years later. In 2008, Mike bought it from her in South Carolina, with the original 50,000 miles on it. Built in Lansing, Michigan, the 442's badge originally indicated a four-barrel carburetor, four-speed manual transmission, and dual exhausts. Mike says he is thinking about a full restoration for his '65 drop top in the near future.
