he Wiseco ATV Motocross National Championship, presented by CST Tires, an AMA National Championship, is America’s most prestigious and longest-running ATV racing series. With thousands of venues across the United States and only 11 stops on the circuit, each track boasts

different opportunities and atmospheres.

Perhaps the most distinctive aspect of ATVMX is

that amateur riders get to compete on the same track as the pros. This means each track must be safe for all skill levels and have plenty of parking and other amenities just to be considered a candidate to host an ATVMX race. Here’s a look at the tracks that will host the 2017 ATVMX National Championship.

he tradition of kicking off the season with the FLY Racing Daytona ATV Supercross (ATVSX) will continue in 2017. After a five-month off-season, anticipation is always at an all-time high before the gate drops at Daytona International

Speedway. This unique event takes place dur-

ing Daytona’s Bike Week festivities, kicking off with Saturday night’s Daytona Supercross by Honda, continuing with the two-day Ricky Carmichael Amateur Supercross event, and concluding with the ATVSX.

“Taking place on the most prestigious motorsports grounds in the world, the ATVSX includes a full weekend of racing and family fun.”

While this event only pays points to the AMA

Pro class, a whole slate of non-points-paying classes are offered for riders on 51cc machines all the way to Senior and Vet classes. Families are invited to camp trackside on the Daytona infield and catch all the racing action of the week before taking to the track on Tuesday.

combination of tabletops, sand rollers, step-ups, doubles, step-downs, and much more were all designed by one of the nation’s top track builders, Randy Poulter.

manmade jumps. When combined with the sandy, power-robbing soil, these features make one of the more technical tracks on the circuit, which tends to favor elite riders who aren’t intimidated by its distinct supercross feel.

Sunset Ridge is a fantastic track for spectating—excel-

lent views of the action are available in multiple locations. That’s good news for fans of four-time ATV Motocross Champion Chad Wienen—this is the champ’s home track, and his supporters always show up in force to cheer on their local hero as he strives to add another championship to his records against the stacked field of the AMA Pro class. Lodging, restaurants, and other conveniences are roughly

in order to choose their passing opportunities with utmost care.

Thanks to the amphitheater-like setting, the venue offers

The Ranch isn’t steeped in just rich musi-

WWW.ATVMOTOCROSS.COM under the Rider Services tab. You can also email info@atv motocross.com or call the main office at (304) 284-0101 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EST. We are happy to help and look forward to seeing you at the races!

A short, three-lap practice will be offered Saturday morning for each class. If you register for three classes, you will be permitted to take part in three different practices. The riders’ meeting will take place right before practice starts. This meeting is extremely important and will include race details, such as the race structure and a description of the track layout. Race orders are posted for each race ahead of time at Rider Registration. You will race twice for each class, with your moto finishes combining to determine your overall position. The first moto will take place on Saturday and the second moto on Sunday. Two more things to bring with you; a good attitude and a competitive spirit! No matter how you finish, no matter how many laps you make, just competing in an ATVMX race is an accomplishment. Have fun, don’t quit (unless you have to), and enjoy your time at the races with your family. Whether you know it or not, you will be creating lifelong memories that you will cherish forever.

HILL

A

re you interested in ATV Racing? Maybe you picked up this souvenir program at your local ATVMX round and had so much fun that you’ve decided to try your hand at racing yourself. ATV Motocross has 39 different classes for racers from 4 years old to 104—so yes, there is literally a class for every age and every skill level! Once you’ve decided what class fits you best, check out the rules that pair with that class. ATVMX is sanctioned by the American Motorcyclist Association (AMA), so AMA Amateur Competition Rules apply. However, due to the unique character of ATVMX racing, it was necessary to develop our own rules as well. There is a specific set of supplemental rules for amateur racing on ATVMoto cross.com. Familiarize yourself with the rules that apply to your level of competition, as well as the AMA rules. The ATVMX series is composed of 10 amateur rounds ranging from Alabama to New York and as far west as Texas. Choose a round you would like to participate in, and then you can either pre-register or register at the track. You will need to have a current AMA membership in order to register, which can be purchased at AmericanMotorcyclist .com. A transponder is also required to race, and they can be purchased or rented at the track. Scoring will be based on transponders, and backup scoring will go off the number on your quad. Remember that your quad doesn’t have to have graphics on it—a simple tape number will work! Practice is offered the Friday before each race weekend for an additional fee. This practice is not mandatory but offers a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with a new track. You should arrive at the track at least two hours before your practice or race. You will first stop at the facility entrance and pay an admission fee. This is also a good time to ask where rider registration, the start line, and tech inspection are located.
