DIVINE WISDOM The Lord’s message, through Moses, was to “take no revenge and cherish no grudge . . . love your neighbor as yourself” (Leviticus 19:18). We might think, “Great in theory, but not always realistic!” Then Jesus in today’s Gospel goes even further. Take a slap in the face and then turn the other cheek? Treat enemies the same as friends? Again, we’re tempted to think that those are nice ideals, but not very practical in the “real world.” Paul echoes Jesus when he tells the Corinthians that what passes for human wisdom is absurdity to God. Divine wisdom casts sunshine on the good and the bad, showers rain on the honest and the dishonest—without distinction. We must examine our wisdom and common sense to see how they compare to the wisdom of God, and make adjustments accordingly. READINGS FOR THE WEEK Monday: Sir 1:1-10; Ps 93:1-2, 5; Mk 9:14-29 Tuesday: Sir 2:1-11; Ps 37:3-4, 18-19, 27-28, 39-40; Mk 9:30-37 Wednesday: 1 Pt 5:1-4; Ps 23:1-3a, 4-6; Mt 16:13-19 Thursday: Sir 5:1-8; Ps 1:1-4, 6; Mk 9:41-50 Friday: Sir 6:5-17; Ps 119:12, 16, 18, 27, 34, 35; Mk 10:1-12 Saturday: Sir 17:1-15; Ps 103:13-18; Mk 10:13-16 Sunday: Is 49:14-15; Ps 62:2-3, 6-9; 1 Cor 4:1-5; Mt 6:24-34

Ways to Evangelize and Reclaim the Sense of the Sacred As Catholics, we are called to know and defend the Faith. We are also called to set a good example for others. The following suggestions are some personal acts of good examples: 1.Make the Sign of the Cross before and after saying Grace aloud in public as well as in private. 2.Make a slight bow of reverence before receiving Holy Communion. 3.Share the Sign of Peace with your neighbors only. Stop as soon as the Lamb of God prayer begins. 4.Bow to the altar when crossing in front of it.
Thank you so much Fr. Francisco and everyone that joined our Spiritual Motherhood of Priests Apostolate to pray a Rosary for all those that are sick and suffering on Our Lady of Lourdes Feast Day. May our Blessed Mother always con nue to lead us to her Son.
Next week, I will provide a few more suggestions. Thanks Deacon Matt 4

IN KEEPING WITH OUR TRADITION, WE AT INCARNATION CATHOLIC SCHOOL: Inspire disciples of Christ, Challenge each individual to a be a life-long learner, and Strive to live our Catholic faith through service to each other and the community. --------------------------------------------------------5111 Webb Road * Tampa, FL 33615 * www.icstampa.org * Tel: (813) 884-4502 * Fax: (813) 885-3734
As a Catholic school, we believe that each student is unique and learns in different ways. This year we began using a Blended Learning approach in the math classroom to support this belief. Students rotate through various stations including a small group instruction station, a technology station using iPads, and a pair practice station. Students receive individualized attention, frequent feedback on progress, and opportunities to interact with 21st century learning tools. Our students are growing in their math and critical thinking skills as they progress through the school year! As one of the ICS Varsity and JV soccer coaches, it was a great honor to witness our student athletes grow in their soccer skills and faith this season. We ended with a great record on the scoreboard, but more importantly, our students showed their true Catholic and ICS spirit in the way they conducted themselves on and off the field. Our student athletes showed sportsmanship in their interactions with other teams, inspiring leadership as they taught their younger teammates fundamental skills, and focus on academics by placing their schoolwork as the priority. I am honored to be a teacher and coach at ICS where the students, faculty, and administration are deeply rooted in the Catholic faith! —Ms. Meagan Koeth, Middle School Math Teacher Sixth graders have been hard at work writing essays for the Knights of Columbus essay contest. This year students were to focus on religious freedom. This was a great opportunity for students to make a connection between their schoolwork, the events in the world around them, and their faith. In order to fully appreciate the topic, we began by discussing how our country was founded on religious freedom. We then focused on the importance of tolerance in our society. Students realized how fortunate they are to live in a country that affords them the opportunity to attend a Catholic school, pray in public when they are out to dinner with their family, or even to be allowed to wear a cross or religious medal around their neck. They were also able to appreciate that while they are free to practice their faith, it is amazing to live in a country that allows people to be free to practice whatever religion they believe in without the fear of punishment or persecution. We thank the Knights of Columbus for giving students the chance to focus on their faith through this amazing opportunity. Sixth graders worked through the writing process of planning, writing, editing, and rewriting. Most importantly they made real world connections to their faith and realized how blessed they are to be Catholic and live in the United States of America. —Mrs. Denise Sheldon, 6th Grade Language Arts & Religion Teacher

Mass Schedule 7:00AM, 8:30AM, 12:10PM & 7:30PM 6:00PM - Spanish Mass Regulations on Fasting and Abstinence The dual disciplines of fasting and abstinence have a long history in the Catholic Church. Going back to the early Church, the purpose behind the custom of self denial is not punishment; it is to simplify our lifestyles so that we create a certain emptiness. In this way, freed from all distractions, we are able to hear and respond to God’s continued call to conversion and holiness. ♦ Fasting is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday by all Catholics between the ages of 18 to 59 years (inclusive). On days of fasting, one full meal is allowed. Two smaller meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids are allowed. ♦ Abstinence from meat is to be observed by all Catholics who are 14 years of age and older. Ash Wednesday, all the Fridays of Lent, and Good Friday are days of abstinence. Note: If a person is unable to observe the above regulations due to ill health or other serious reasons, they are urged to practice other forms of self denial that are suitable to their condition.

Evangelio — No ofrezcas resistencia; ama a tus enemigos (Mateo 5:38-48). LECTURAS DE LA SEMANA Sir 1:1-10; Sal 93 (92):1-2, 5; Mc 9:14-29 Sir 2:1-11; Sal 37 (36):3-4, 18-19, 27-28, 39-40; Mc 9:30-37 Miércoles: 1 Pe 5:1-4; Sal 23 (22):1-3a, 4-6; Mt 16:13-19 Jueves: Sir 5:1-8; Sal 1:1-4, 6; Mc 9:41-50 Viernes: Sir 6:5-17; Sal 119 (118):12, 16, 18, 27, 34, 35; Mc 10:1-12 Sábado: Sir 17:1-15; Sal 103 (102):13-18; Mc 10:13-16 Domingo: Is 49:14-15; Sal 62 (61):2-3, 6-9; 1 Cor 4:1-5; Mt 6:24-34 Lunes: Martes:
