STATIONS OF THE CROSS Fridays of Lent 5:45pm - Spanish 7:30pm - English CONFESSIONS Saturdays 2:30pm - 3:30pm LENTEN PENANCE SERVICE
March 27 at 7:00pm HOLY WEEK April 10th through April 15th PALM SUNDAY April 9th EASTER SUNDAY April 16th
CHILDREN OF THE LIGHT The future king, David, in today’s first reading, is an example of a type of character present throughout the Hebrew scriptures. He is the child born out of place (not the eldest or most favored) who ends up receiving the promise of the covenant. The spirit of God’s anointing rushes upon him. In this way, he is similar to the man born blind from today’s Gospel. David’s family and the blind man’s community did not expect the miraculous grace of God’s love to work through them. Perhaps they, too, were “blinded” by the expectations and assumptions of those around them. Yet, after being touched by God, they both came to “see” the presence of God’s will for them. Both became messengers of God’s will. That same Spirit of God’s anointing rushed upon us at our baptism; we were given a candle as a sign of our membership in the Body of Christ, the Light from Light. Our vocation, then, is to fulfill that enlightenment, that anointing, as Ephesians tells us, by living as “children of the light.”

Calling all teens between the ages of 13-17. Please join us on Wednesday, March 29th, in St. John’s Room from 7:00pm-9:00pm for some fun and fellowship. If you have any questions, please call our Faith Formation Office.
Tenebrae Please join us on Holy Thursday, April 13 from 11:30pm-12:00am for our Tenebrae Service. Tenebrae is Latin for "shadows" or "darkness." The Tenebrae service is an ancient tradition in Christian history that took place on one of the last three days of Holy Week: The purpose of this service was to remember the somber events that occurred in Jesus' life from the exuberant entrance into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday through the night of Jesus' burial on Good Friday. The flames of the candles will be extinguished one by one as Scripture readings are shared to tell the story of Holy Week. This gradual descent into gloom is a representation of Jesus' increasing sorrow as the events of Passion Week unfolded. After the last verse is read, the last candle is put out, and the room is plunged into darkness. Please contact our Faith Formation office if you'd like to volunteer to read.
Important Information Faith Formation Families, we have some exciting news! Effective immediately, we are reserving pews at the 9am Mass every Sunday just for you! Children attending Faith Formation classes are also invited to sit in the choir area. Please call the Faith Formation Office to reserve your seat. We look forward to seeing you at Mass. Please join Deacon Matt on the journey to explore the Transforming Power of Confession. A perfect opportunity to see the Sacrament of Confession in a different light … one of Grace and Healing. This Lenten session will take place on Monday evening April 3rd. It will be held in St Johns room beginning at 7:00pm. Please join us!

Incarnation Bible Study (English) We will begin a study of The Prophets: Messengers of God’s Mercy which will start on Tuesday March 28th. This is a ten week program presented by Thomas Smith, a very inspiring speaker. This study group will meet in Classroom 2 on Tuesday evenings from 7-9pm. Anyone interested is welcome. There is a workbook included and the cost is $23.95. In the Prophets you will: • Discover who the prophets were, what their message was, and why they are important to us. • See how God is calling you to a deeper relationship with Him. • Discover areas in your life that prevent you from drawing closer to Him. • Understand how the central message of the prophets is one of love, proclaiming the mercy of God for His children. • See how their powerful words speak to us today, shedding light on our faith and our lives. • Discover the ways you are called to be the voice of God to others. And much more! If you are interested in signing up for this study or need additional information, please call either Donna Burch (813) 541-8506 or Peggy Kelly (813) 767-9669.

The nursing home is run by the Congregation of the Cardinal Sancha Charity. The nuns take care of 37 elderly residents who have been abandoned and are without family. The home provides shelter, clothing, food, medications and medical care. All this is possible through the generosity of concerned people. $75.00 covers the cost of 2 months of care for a resident. We ask that you prayerfully consider a donation. Mission Committee members will be at the front of the church after Mass to answer your questions.
