SEEING CHRIST CLEARLY We start today looking through the portals of Jerusalem, seeing crowds of people, cheering and waving palm branches in the air. The whole atmosphere is one of joy, triumph, and celebration. We can get distracted or enthralled by the scene, and not see clearly the features of Jesus as he enters. But our readings from Isaiah and Paul’s letter to the Philippians clarify his features for us. He is the Suffering Servant, meek and mute before his captors and persecutors; he is the very image of the unseen God, yet will not clutch at equality with God before he endures his final confrontation in humility. Isaiah and Paul help us “behold the Lamb of God” before we hear the story of his final and greatest confrontation. It is important that we see Christ clearly before we hear the account of his passion, for we—his Body through baptism, the church—now bear his face. We must, with him, enter into this time of trial so we can, also with him, enter into his final triumph. Tenebrae Please join us on Holy Thursday, April 13 from 11:30pm-12:00am for our Tenebrae Service. Tenebrae is Latin for "shadows" or "darkness." The Tenebrae service is an ancient tradition in Christian history that took place on one of the last three days of Holy Week: The purpose of this service was to remember the somber events that occurred in Jesus' life from the exuberant entrance into Jerusalem on Palm Sunday through the night of Jesus' burial on Good Friday. The flames of the candles will be extinguished one by one as Scripture readings are shared to tell the story of Holy Week. This gradual descent into gloom is a representation of Jesus' increasing sorrow as the events of Passion Week unfolded. After the last verse is read, the last candle is put out, and the room is plunged into darkness. Please contact our Faith Formation office if you'd like to volunteer to read.

PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD

Our Lent Project There is still time to participate in our Lent Project! This year we are supporting Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Nursing Home in Higuey, Dominican Republic. The nursing home is run by the Congregation of the Cardinal Sancha Charity. The nuns take care of 37 elderly residents who have been abandoned and are without family. The home provides shelter, clothing, food, medications and medical care. All this is possible through the generosity of concerned people. $75.00 covers the cost of 2 months of care for a resident. We ask that you prayerfully consider a donation. Mission Committee members will be at the front of the church after Mass with pledge cards and to answer your questions.
Faith and Family Women’s Group Incarnation Catholic Church is excited to announce the formation of a new ministry for all women of our parish community. Faith and Family Women’s Group has evolved from Pope Francis’s mission of the importance of family life within our Catholic faith. Whether you are a Mother, Grandmother, Godmother, Daughter, Sister or Aunt, we invite you to participate in this new ministry that will focus on the family as a whole within our church community. Is your Catholic faith an important part of your life? Are you interested in becoming more involved in your church community but cannot make a commitment to regularly scheduled meetings or dedicate time to multiple committee meetings?
Do you enjoy attending parish events? Would you like to see more family focused occasions within the parish? If you answered yes to any or all of the above questions, we encourage you to learn more about the Faith and Family Women’s Group. The focus of this ministry is to provide an opportunity for women of all ages to gather, get to know each other and find enjoyment in helping within the church community to provide family fun, focused events that can also help raise funds to support our parish. Stay tuned for more information on the new ministry, including how you can become involved as well as a spring themed kick-off event.
Would you enjoy getting to know other ladies and families within the parish community?
