READINGS FOR THE WEEK Monday:
SCHOOL OFFICE 5111 Webb Rd. Tampa, FL 33615 Ph. 813.884.4502 Fax: 813.885.3734 www.icstampa.org
THE STORY OF OUR REDEMPTION We begin the final week of Lent with these familiar readings. This year, we hear the Passion from the Gospel of Luke. These readings for Palm Sunday and the Passion used to be read on successive Sundays. Now they are combined into a single feast, so that we may see the whole sweep of the glory and the suffering played out. Jesus accepts the adulation of the crowd, the foreshadowing of his glory in the Resurrection. He bids farewell to his disciples in his last Passover, and forgives his tormentors as he dies on the cross. Later this week, we enter the Holy Triduum of Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday, when the whole story of our redemption will play out once again.
TODAY’S READINGS Gospel at the Procession with Palms — Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem (Luke 19:28-40). First Reading — In spite of my sufferings I am not disgraced. I am not put to shame (Isaiah 50:4-7). Psalm — My God, my God, why have you abandoned me? (Psalm 22). Second Reading — Christ emptied himself, and God filled this emptiness with exaltation (Philippians 2:6-11). Gospel — The account of Christ’s passion according to Luke (Luke 22:14 — 23:56 [23:1-49]).

PALM SUNDAY OF THE PASSION OF THE LORD
April 14, 2019
There are volunteers in front of church today with pictures of the children. Take a picture home and place it on your refrigerator as a reminder to pray for them and to save your dollars during Lent to support that child’s education. A suggested donation is $75.00 although any donation will be gratefully appreciated! At the end of Lent, you will turn in your sacrificial donation and Fr. Michael will take it to the Dominican Republic after Easter. The pictures are also available at the Parish Office during the week.

Salmo — Dios mío, Dios mío, ¿por qué me has abandonado? (Salmo 22 [21]).
