I pray these lines find all doing well and enjoying our pre summer weather (which in my book is already summer!) Things are well here. I have become fully vaccinated as of last Tuesday (got my second shot two weeks ago and it takes two weeks to work itself into the body) so I’m guessing I’m gonna feel a little superhuman. LOL It was so great being able to walk up and down the main aisle for the entrance and close of Mass. So great to be able to make contact again, no hugs yet but that will be here soon enough, you who know me know I’m a hugger. I pray you are all staying well and healthy and are feeling comfortable with the changes and getting back to normal – do what is comfortable for you and gives you peace of mind. Today we celebrate the Trinity – Father, Son, and Spirit. The Beauty of our God is that He meets us where we are. The Trinity even provides a means for us to relate to God in the person we are comfortable with – all being GOD! As I have mentioned many times, I had the best father in the world!!! Sorry for the rest of you but I did! That being the case I always had a very easy transition seeing God as a loving and approachable Father, One I could go to for anything. I know of so many people who have a very real fear of God the Father. No doubt this is primarily due to their relationship with their own dads. Is God just - yes, are we going to be held accountable for our actions – absolutely. But this will be brought about by someone who LOVES US!!! There is no need for fear. Many people find it easiest to relate to the Son – Jesus. After all, besides being God He is also fully human. He walked the earth as we do, he experienced living, as we do so many find Him to the most relatable. The Holy Spirit also has very many fans!!! Growing up at the time when I did, the charismatic movement was very active. This is not so much the case anymore, however, Jesus gives us His Spirit. It is the Holy Spirit within us who inspires us, helps us to make the most of our talents and WHO we receive at Baptism and Holy Communion. Ever since childhood I have remembered what Jesus tells us at the end of today’s Gospel – “And behold, I am with you always until the end of the age!” My first memory of this is from one of the TV shows that would portray the life of Jesus which were played around Lent. I do not remember exactly which presentation it was, but Jesus was with his disciples huddled in a circle, His arms around two of the guys (all the guys were are in arm in a big circle) He looks at them intently and says I am with you always and then walks out of their sight – I just remember it being very powerful. We really all need to hold on to these words “I AM WITH YOU ALWAYS” Jesus does not mince words, He says it – it is reality. I pray that we all feel the loving embrace of the Most Holy Trinity!!! God Bless You! Love, Fr. Mike

“The eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had
ordered them. When they all saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.” – Matthew 28:16-17 Do you ever have doubts, even about a sure thing? There are few things that we really know for certain that will happen in life. Even in certainty, doubt can still creep in. This weekend the church celebrates the Solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. We read in Matthew’s last few verses, that Jesus gives His disciples the great commission to baptize all in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, and that He would be with them always. It’s an affirming passage, but there’s one phrase that jumps out in verse 17. We read, “When they all saw him, they worshiped, but they doubted.” But they doubted. After all they had witnessed…the miracles, the healings the dying and rising…how could they still doubt? Actually, the Greek word that is used in this verse can also be translated as “some doubted”. This wording is found in many other translations of the bible other than the New American Bible translation that we use for our readings at Mass. But even if only some doubted, and not all, that still begs the question “why”? And what does that mean for us today? Maybe the doubt of some of the disciples was a recognition that we experience doubt in our faith lives, particularly when we face some trial or adversity. None of us are perfect, including the disciples and the saints that have all gone before us. We are sinners, and Satan likes to work on us to cast doubt, worry despair, and division. To combat this doubt we must be fervent in prayer, devoted in worship, and persistent in our faith. Jesus allayed the disciples doubt by reminding them that He would be with them always, even in their times of doubt, trial and suffering. It’s that faith that He IS with us always that keeps us going. When doubt begins to creep into your life, say to Jesus as the father did in Mark, chapter 9, “I do believe, help me in my unbelief!” -Bishop Gregory Parkes

God of power and mercy, you destroy war and put down earthly pride. Banish violence from our midst and wipe away our tears, that we may all deserve to be called your sons and daughters. Keep in your mercy those men and women who have died in the cause of freedom and bring them safely into your kingdom of justice and peace. We ask this through Jesus Christ our Lord.
