FAITH AND HOPE Faith and hope are closely united in today’s readings. The Israelites knew when the Passover was coming, and so were not in fear, but had faith and courage, “putting into effect with one accord the divine institution.” In this we can see a foretelling of the Eucharist that we celebrate according to Christ’s command, “Do this in memory of me.” We see that Abraham, Sarah, Isaac, and Jacob died in faith, although they did not see fulfillment of the promise. We live in hope that our faith will be fulfilled every time we celebrate this sacrament. We too are not to be afraid, but to have hope that our faith will be fulfilled in the coming of Christ. 8220 W. Hillsborough Ave. Tampa, FL 33615 www.icctampa.org

I pray these lines find all doing well. All is well here, getting acclimated more and more each day. We hear today in our Gospel to get ready, for at an hour we do not expect the Lord will arrive. The question simply has to be asked at the basest level – are we ready. Please take a moment to reflect on this and think about this reality, there is no guarantee that the Lord will not arrive during Mass. He could arrive as you are reading this and then its “game over”- we all go onto eternity ready or not. So, the question needs to be asked – are you ready? Have you reconciled with everyone in your life? When is the last time you have gone to reconciliation? Is your relationship with Jesus as close and comfortable as your relationship with your spouse or best friend? If any of these is answered “no” then there is some work to do. Now, the good news is that we may have a lot more time before the Lord returns and will get ourselves ready by His arrival date. My simple suggestion do the homework NOW. Get it out of the way. The beauty of this is that whenever Jesus does arrive – you are ready and will run to greet him with open arms. In general – life is soooo much better when homework is done. Especially “Eternal Life Homework.” God Bless You! Love, Fr. Mike
TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — Your ancestors waited in faith and courage for God’s promised summons (Wisdom 18:6-9). Psalm — Blessed the people the Lord has chosen to be his own (Psalm 33). Second Reading — By faith Abraham sojourned in the promised land (Hebrews 11:1-2, 8-19 [1-2, 8-12]). Gospel — You do not know the day nor the hour when the Son of Man will appear (Luke 12:32-48 [35-40]).

Prayer for Protection against Storms & Hurricanes O God, Master of this passing world, hear the humble voices of your children. The Sea of Galilee obeyed Your order and returned to its former quietude. You are still the Master of land and sea. We live in the shadow of a danger over which we have no control: the Gulf, like a provoked and angry giant, can awake from its seeming lethargy, overstep its conventional boundaries, invade our land, and spread chaos and disaster. During this hurricane season we turn to You, O loving Father. Spare us from past Tragedies whose memories are still so vivid and whose wounds seem to refuse to heal with passing of time. O Virgin, Star of the Sea, Our beloved Mother, we ask you to Plead with your Son on our behalf, so that spared from the calamities common to this area and animated with a true spirit of gratitude, we will walk in the footsteps of your Divine Son to reach the heavenly Jerusalem, where stormless eternity awaits us. Amen.

Why register with your Parish? By registering at a parish, you are declaring your desire to be part of a Catholic faith community. If you have recently moved to the area or if you are a long-time resident, please consider registering. You can pick up a form in the main entrance of the church, or stop by the office and fill out the form. The registration form is also available online at www.icctampa.org on the home page, click on the Register under the “About Us” menu. Top Reasons to Register at a Parish A sense of belonging and identity in a parish community. It is a commitment to practice your faith. Registration enables the parish pastor and staff to get to know you better, to welcome you and to minister to you. This is especially important during a time of crisis so that the pastoral staff can attend to your spiritual needs and the needs of your family. Registration helps you stay connected with your parish and helps your parish stay connected with you. Providing your contact information is important so that parishes provide you timely updates via email, direct mail, phone, etc. Once you are registered, please notify the parish office of any changes in address or phone number. Registered active members are eligible for sponsor/godparent validation. Census numbers may determine how many priests are assigned to a parish and how many Masses and enrichment programs are planned and scheduled.
Dear Parishioners, The purpose for our ministry is to provide comfort, warmth, and love through the articles we hand crochet or knit. Or if you would like to help the ministry, donations of yarn are always welcome. Please call or visit the parish office if you or a loved one are in need of one of these items.
