I pray these lines find all doing well. Things are great here, I’m STILL getting quite the pumpkin education. This week I was introduced to fried pumpkin chunks and pumpkin beer (I don’t drink but I’ll definitely try it, after all, its pumpkin.) I was given the afore mentioned pumpkin chocolate chip cookies which are outstanding!!! This weekend we hear about the rich man and the poor man named Lazarus. Notice the poor man has a name; the scripture writer wants him known. The rich man is probably better off remaining anonymous. What always amazes me is that we hear about the rich man in torment, who is still so ignorant. He asks Father Abraham to “send Lazarus” to help him, like somehow Lazarus is a second-class citizen. Every person we meet is intended by God to be a temple of the Holy Spirit. Choices which are made in daily living and a solid “yes” or “no” to God determine whether we are that temple. That being stated we must treat everyone as temples of God realizing we cannot read hearts and so we never know the holiness of anyone else. That being the case, speak to people like you are speaking with a saint, you just may be! God Bless You! Fr. Mike TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — Woe to the complacent, stretched comfortably on their couches! (Amos 6:1a, 4-7). Psalm — Praise the Lord, my soul! (Psalm 146) Second Reading — Pursue righteousness, devotion, faith, love, patience, and gentleness (1 Timothy 6:11-16). Gospel — There was a rich man who dined sumptuously each day. Lying at his door was a poor man named Lazarus (Luke 16:19-31). Monday: Tuesday: Wednesday: Thursday: Friday: Saturday: Sunday:
