I pray these lines find all doing well. Week three is upon us so by now I’m sure Christmas shopping is all done. LOL I do pray it is at least half done. This week we hear about John the Baptist again. John wants to make sure that Jesus IS the one. On some level of course John knew this fact but being imprisoned, knowing his life would soon come to an end, he wanted the knowledge and information to affirm what he believed in and knew in his heart to be true. So, if there are times, we may be a little unsure or have our faith shaken – you’re in good company! Now I know I am being prejudice but I have a real love for the second reading today. Of course, I would, it is from the author of my previous parish St. James the Lesser. As you know Jesus had two disciples named James – the “lesser” would denote that this James was either shorter in stature or younger. Allow me to give you some Advent homework (if you would like some.) If you read the book of St. James daily and listen and follow its words, it will change your life. The beauty of the Book of James is that it is only about 4 pages long, depending on your Bible. Almost every line is so loaded with wisdom and very applicable to daily life. I pray that amid the craziness this season can bring that you are able to take time for just yourself and God. Have a great week! Love, Fr. Mike TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — The barren deserts will rejoice and flower (Isaiah 35:1-6a, 10). Psalm — Lord, come and save us (Psalm 146). Second Reading — Be patient, for the coming of the Lord is as sure as the rain (James 5:7-10). Gospel — Tell of what you hear and see: The blind regain their vision, the crippled their movement, the deaf their hearing (Matthew 11:2-11). READINGS FOR THE WEEK Monday: Nm 24:2-7, 15-17a; Ps 25:4-5ab, 6, 7bc-9; Mt 21:23-27 Tuesday: Gn 49:2, 8-10; Ps 72:1-4ab, 7-8, 17; Mt 1:1-17 Wednesday: Jer 23:5-8; Ps 72:1-2, 12-13, 18-19; Mt 1:18-25 Thursday: Jgs 13:2-7, 24-25a; Ps 71:3-4a, 5-6ab, 16-17; Lk 1:5-25 Friday: Is 7:10-14; Ps 24:1-4ab, 5-6; Lk 1:26-38 Saturday: Sg 2:8-14 or Zep 3:14-18a; Ps 33:2-3, 11-12, 20-21; Lk 1:39-45 Sunday: Is 7:10-14; Ps 24:1-6; Rom 1:1-7; Mt 1:18-24 JUBILEE MASS The Marriage Jubilee Mass of Thanksgiving with Bishop Gregory Parkes will take place at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle on Sunday, February 23rd at 3:00pm. THANKSGIVING LUNCHEON FOR THE HOMELESS The Emmaus retreat and the Five Loaves and Two Fish Apostolate want to thank the entire parish community for their support and help in carrying out such a special activity. That day we were able to offer food and personal hygiene items to about 60 people in need in our community. We are sure that the Lord rejoices with us, because once he told us: "Come to me, blessed of the Father, because I was hungry and you gave me food" (Mt 25, 34-36).

(Mateo 11:2-11). LECTURAS DE LA SEMANA Lunes:
Nm 24:2-7, 15-17a; Sal 25 (24):4-5ab, 6, 7bc-9; Mt 21:2327 Martes: Gn 49:2, 8-10; Sal 72 (71):1-4ab, 7-8, 17; Mt 1:1-17 Miércoles: Jer 23:5-8; Sal 72 (71):1-2, 12-13, 18-19; Mt 1:18-25 Jueves: Jue 13:2-7, 24-25a; Sal 71 (70):3-4a, 5-6ab, 16-17; Lc 1:525 Viernes: Is 7:10-14; Sal 24 (23):1-4ab, 5-6; Lc 1:26-38 Sábado: Cant 2:8-14 o Sof 3:14-18a; Sal 33 (32):2-3, 11-12, 20-21; Lc 1:39-45 Domingo: Is 7:10-14; Sal 24 (23):1-6; Rom 1:1-7; Mt 1:18-24
