I pray these lines find all doing well and completely done with shopping by now – as I write this it is only December 7th – so there is no guarantee I am finished by the time you read this – I pray I am. We hear a Gospel which is very familiar, leading up to the Holy Birth. Our focus today is St. Joseph, a perfect role model for any guy to follow. Joseph was a good, honest, hard-working and very faithful man. The accounting we hear is when he now knows Mary to be pregnant. He must have felt at one point like he lost everything, his heart must have broken, the one he loved was with child. And because he was such a good man and loved Mary, we hear he decided to divorce her quietly instead of accusing her.

Once the angel came to him in a dream and brought him up to speed he fully understood and was accepting of and open to what his future would hold. Something that is of interest is that Joseph was given the “Holy News” while he was asleep. Mary was awake when the angel appeared to her, when it came to God, she was an open, receptive vessel. One way to see this is to realize that God is going to contact us one way or another if we are open to Him.

Bottom line, awake or asleep I pray that you always remain open to God, feel His promptings and hear His voice when He does contact – AND HE DOES!!! Have a great week! Maranatha (Come Lord Jesus) Love, Fr. Mike

PEACE

Today marks our last class for Faith Formation for 2022. We pray you are all having a glorious Advent Season and preparing as a family for the celebration of the Birth of Jesus and Peace and Love for all.

On the fourth week of Advent, we light the final purple candle to mark the final week of prayer and penance as we wait for the birth of our Savior. This final candle, the “Angel’s Candle,” symbolizes peace. It reminds us of the message of the angels: “Peace on Earth, Good Will Toward Men.”

PAZ

FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT DECEMBER 18, 2022
