I pray these lines find all doing well. I also pray all are keeping warm. I always tell you all how much I love the cold so I really cannot talk too loudly about the weather but this morning it was 37 degrees according to my phone. The beauty was I did not sweat during Mass which almost never happens. One of the Cormier family traits is the ability to sweat, almost constantly, grandpa did, my Dad did and I’m continuing in the family tradition. I’m just glad the sweat glands got a break! This weekend part of our Gospel contains the call of the disciples. Jesus called these men who were already secure in what they knew and did for a living. They left that security and followed Jesus. He called these men and their lives were never the same. None of them had formerly been preachers nor did they work in religious circles, yet this was their new life. This brings to mind a phrase often heard – God doesn’t call the equipped, He equips the called. This is very true; God is always going to give us what we need in our state of life. All of us are called by God. You would not be in the pew reading this or online unless you were specifically called to follow God. We never initiate in our search for God. He loves on us and that touches our hearts to respond to that love. May God continue to love us and especially our loved ones who have not yet felt what we feel and know to be true. Have a great week! Love, Fr. Mike TODAY’S READINGS
First Reading — God has restored the land, and brought great joy to the people (Isaiah 8:23 — 9:3). Psalm — The Lord is my light and my salvation (Psalm 27).
