MASS SCHEDULE

WE ARE TO BE TRANSFORMED Today’s showing forth of God’s glory is filled with a light that astonishes and reveals. Jesus transfigured on Mount Tabor energizes even the sleepy apostles, who see but cannot get hold of it. They can be forgiven for not apprehending the full meaning of this extraordinary vision of a transfigured Jesus with Elijah and Moses. The whole of the Law and prophets is summed up here on this mountain. The transfiguration on Mount Tabor is handed over to us this Sunday. As Paul reminds us, it is we who are to be transformed. The light and life of the Resurrection are set forth here so we do not lose heart and fall entirely asleep. This Sunday looks to Easter. It looks to transformation. It asks us to lift up our heads and acknowledge the risen Lord as our light and our salvation. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.

THE PROMISE These clouds, unlike the thunderclouds, preceded a promise. Abram received from the Lord a covenant: a promise that his descendants would be as numerous as the stars, and that the land that he saw would be for him and his descendants forever. We, too, are recipients of the promise. In the Transfiguration on the mountaintop, Jesus was revealed as the Exodus to be accomplished in Jerusalem; in other words, Jesus’ death and resurrection would begin a new covenant with all people and with the Earth. “We await a savior, the Lord Jesus Christ” (Philippians 3:30), who will come again. We need not fear the clouds any more, for in the words of Psalm 27, “I believe that I shall see the bounty of the LORD in the land of the living. Wait for the LORD with courage; be stouthearted, and wait for the LORD.” Today’s Readings: Gn 15:5–12, 17– 18; Ps 27:1, 7–8, 8–9, 13–14; Phil 3:17 — 4:1 [3:20 — 4:1]; Lk 9:28b–36

LET NOTHING DISTURB YOU Let nothing disturb you, Friday: Gn 37:3-4, 12-13a; 17b-28a; Nothing frighten you. Ps 105:16-21; Mt 21:33-43, All things are passing. 45-46 God never changes. Saturday: Mi 7:14-15, 18-20; Ps 103:1-4, Patient endurance attains all things. 9-12; Lk 15:1-3, 11-32 Whoever possesses God lacks nothing, Sunday: Ex 3:1-8a, 13-15; Ps 103:1-4, God alone is sufficient. —St. Teresa of Ávila

2016 ANNUAL PASTORAL APPEAL Love is all around and Jesus is in our midst. Thank you to the families who have responded generously to the 2016 Annual Pastoral Appeal on behalf of our parish. Sometimes it is hard to envision how your one gift could make a difference in an organization the size of our diocese, but it does. Each Catholic family, each parish, united, can fulfill the mission of our Christ, to love and serve one another. In trying times, our gifts from God may be more difficult to identify; God blesses each of us every day, there is no limit to his mercy. No one can do everything, but everyone can do something. Not equal gift but equal sacrifice. Please, Open the Door to Mercy, thank you in advance for continuing to support our parish and our diocesan faith community so faithfully and in so many ways.

Homeless, Elderly, Youth, Young Adults, Incarcerated, Sick, Baptized, Unbaptized, Seeking, Lost, Found, Longing, Mentally Ill, Suffering, Unborn, Faithful, Hungry, Fallen Away‌

Your gift to the 2016 APA helps open the door to mercy!

Reflexionando la Palabra de Dios

Para Reflexionar

813-885-7861

P. Jairo
