THE WAY OUT Today’s readings launch us into Lent with the story of salvation. How did we humans get where we are? How do we get out? Genesis—through the Adam and Eve narrative—explains that we got separated from God and happiness through greed, selfishness, arrogance. But, as Paul explained to the Romans, God has not abandoned us, and never will. We get out through the “new Adam,” Jesus Christ, through whom the death of sin is conquered by the life of “overflowing grace.” From the start, though, Jesus—like Adam and Eve, like you and me— had to face “the tempter.” Shown fame and wealth, he was tempted to grab for it. But Jesus saw through such foolishness. During Lent we will look at what the tempter spreads before us daily, then try to make choices that put us on the side of the angels. Copyright © J. S. Carnival Raffle Tickets Due to a change by the Post Office in its interpretation of the rules for bulk mailing, we were not able to mail raffle tickets to you this year. But the Show will still go on!

WE HAVE CONVERTED THE TRADITIONAL RAFFLE TO A SIMPLE 50/50. There will be one grand prize cash drawing and the amount of the prize will be half the value of all tickets sold. That prize could easily exceed the $4000 first prize that was planned for the raffle. We will announce the value of the prize during the carnival as it grows. Following our mailing, many of you would normally send back your ticket stubs with your cash or check donation either by mail or in the collection basket. We want you to do the same thing now but without the ticket stubs. See the following steps

Please write “raffle tickets” on your check or on the envelope should you drop it in the collection basket.

Help Support a Student from Cristo Rey Catholic School in the Dominican Republic.

If you have some of those “return address” stickers that many people use to fill out the tickets, put two dozen of them in the envelope with your donation for us to use. We will fill out the correct number of raffle tickets for you based upon your donation. Ten dollars buys twelve tickets. We had planned on mailing you $20 worth or 24 raffle tickets. Individual tickets are one dollar each. There will only be one cash drawing however there will be many prize drawings regularly throughout the carnival. Winning tickets for these prizes will be returned to the drum for the grand prize drawing. The Grand Prize drawing will be the final event at the carnival. We will draw the winner at 8:00 PM on Sunday, April 6. You do not have to be present to win any of the prizes including the grand prize.

A gift of $70 covers 3 months tuition.
