Discounts available for early sign up! As summer approaches we're all looking for something fun to do! What better way than through some fantastically hilarious and heartwarming summer musical theater! Last year, St Stephen's in Valrico had huge successes with their two-night run of "Little Women: The Musical" and now, for the first time EVER, St Stephen's Catholic Church and Nativity Catholic Church are joining forces for this awesome experience! We're expanding to a two-weekend run with four performances and all the proceeds go to benefit Catholic Education! Invite friends or anyone you might know who would be interested! Spread the word to your teen, young adult, and choir ministries! This is a great ecumenical experience that brings together people from all over the parish, local community and diocese. We'd love to have a cast and crew from all over the diocese! Here's the details: What: Auditions for "The Man of La Mancha" When: June 3rd & 4th at 7pm Where: Nativity Catholic Church Youth Center (705 E Brandon Blvd. Brandon, FL 33511) Who: Teens, young adults and notso-young adults! All are welcome! Performances will be August 19, 20, 26, and 27 at the Nativity Youth Center. Rehearsals will be 3-4 times a week from June 13 to August 19 in the evening, running from 7pm to 9:30pm. (Note: Most actors will not need to be there for every rehearsal. A schedule will be posted/distributed at the start of rehearsals.)

A bit about the show: "MAN OF LA MANCHA is a remarkable show and one of the great theatre successes of our time. This is a play-within-a-play, based on Cervantes' "Don Quixote." We have a poignant story of a dying old man whose impossible dream takes over his mind. "It's All the Same," "Dulcinea," "I'm Only Thinking of Him," "The Impossible Dream," "I Really Like Him" and "Little Bird" remain in your thoughts and in your soul well after you see the show. His dream is Everyman's dream. His tilting at windmills is Everyman's great adventure. Somehow, the footlights disappear, time is telescoped and the "Man of La Mancha" speaks for humankind." http://www.tams-witmark.com/ musicals/manoflamancha.html

The annual Cheer Camp 2011 will be held July 27, 28, & 29, from 9:00 to 3:00, in the Tampa Catholic High School Gym. Ages 5 - 13. Cost - $75 (includes a T-shirt). For further information call Theresa Fasani, 870-0860, x525.

Sixth Sunday of Easter May 29, 2011 “I will ask the Father, and he will give you . . . the Spirit of truth.” — John 14:16–17 THE REASON FOR OUR HOPE

Come prepared to auditions with an accompaniment piece (CD or iPod) and be ready to read from the script. Characters are of all ages, shapes and sizes! Come with a sense of humor and a spirit of adventure!

“What is the reason for your hope?” Imagine somebody coming up to you and asking you that question. Not “What are you hoping for?” or “What are you hoping to do?” No, this isn’t about our desires for possessions or aspirations for life, it’s “Why do you hope?” Peter today tells us that we ought to be ready to give an answer to this question. Truth be told, few of us spend much time thinking about why we hope. Luckily, the scriptures today give us our answers. We hope because Christ suffered for us, in order that we might come to God. We hope because we know that, in the Spirit, God grants us another Advocate through Christ to remain with us always. No matter what we might hope for, whatever we might hope to do, we must always first know and proclaim the reason for our hope: the presence of God in Christ, with us through the power of the Spirit. © Copyright, J. S. Paluch Co.

"But, what if I want to be a part of this and NOT perform?" Come to auditions and let us know! We need help backstage with props, costumes, set construction, lights and sound. Plus, we need musicians! If you're a talented musician who'd like to get involved... come to auditions and showcase that talent!

Reflexiones para la homilía

E

¿A qué casos de prejuicios o discriminación me he enfrentado o me enfrento? ¿Cómo respondo? ©Nuestra Parroquia 2011

© Copyright, J. NUESTRA CULTURA
