Phone: (813) 885-7861 The Most Holy Trinity June 3, 2012 We are children of God, and if children, then heirs, heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ. — Romans 8:16–17 TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION Even though the Easter season has drawn to a close, today’s feast still basks in the glow of Easter’s twilight. To believe that we are made in the image and likeness of God—a God whose inner life is described in terms of community—is to recognize that we are in relationship with one another. In the language of the liturgy, we do not each stand alone before God, but constantly affirm this truth in the very words of our prayers. “We believe, we offer, we ask you,” we say, or “have mercy on us, hear us, listen to our prayer,” and in preparation for Communion, we pray the perfect prayer to “Our Father.” To be baptized is to enter into the life of a community of faith. Nowhere is this sense of community more focused than at Sunday Mass, when we respond to the love of the Father by being together in Christ, embraced by the Spirit, for the sake of the world. Today has been called an “idea feast,” and impossible to grasp fully. Yet, as the readings today explore, the Trinity is not a concept traced like a triangle on a blackboard. It is the air we breathe, the sign we trace on our bodies as a pledge and promise of God’s love. —James Field, Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
THE MYSTERY OF THE BLESSED TRINITY Today we celebrate the solemnity of the Most Holy Trinity. The Church sets aside this Sunday to focus our attention on the mystery of the Blessed Trinity, God who is one, but three persons—Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The first reading from Deuteronomy emphasizes both God’s awesome greatness and amazing nearness. It might seem beyond belief, but the God of all creation speaks to us, protects us, and guides us. The second reading from Saint Paul’s Letter to the Romans describes how we are to relate to the three persons who are one God. We are led by the Spirit to meet God the Father as adopted children. Our adoption is such that we are even heirs with our brother, Christ, the second person of the Trinity, in whose sufferings we must also share. In Matthew’s Gospel, Jesus speaks with his authority as God and sends us to teach and baptize in the name of the Trinity.
PRAYER OF THE WEEK June 3, 2012, The Most Holy Trinity God our Father, who by sending into the world the Word of truth and the Spirit of sanctification made known to the human race your wondrous mystery, grant us, we pray, that in professing the true faith, we may acknowledge the Trinity of eternal glory and adore your Unity, powerful in majesty. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Reflection question: How do I profess my faith in the Trinity in my daily life? Please contact Carmen Cayon for more info, if you are interested in joining one of our groups, or any other group that we may be starting in the near future! From Carmen CayonThank you to everyone who helped this year with Faith Formation for adults and youth! We couldn’t have served our community without the time, talent, and generosity that we experience here in our community. As my second year as Director of Faith Formation and Evangelization draws to an end, we took some time this past Saturday for a day of reflection with our faith formation leaders. (See picture). It was a spirit filled day of sharing and I am so blessed to be a part of this community with them. I am so full of gratitude for our clergy, our Coordinator for the Youth, Philomena Johnson, our many volunteer catechists, our parish staff and our parish service organizations, and your prayers for us: all were a vital part of the successful year we had. May God continue to be with us next year!

1:30 MASS PENTECOST CELEBRATION
The Church has always venerated the divine Scriptures just as she venerates the body of the Lord, since, especially in the sacred liturgy, she unceasingly receives and offers to the faithful the bread of life from the table both of God's word and of Christ's body. She has always maintained them, and continues to do so, together with sacred tradition, as the supreme rule of faith, since, as inspired by God and committed once and for all to writing, they impart the word of God Himself without change, and make the voice of the Holy Spirit resound in the words of the prophets and Apostles…Dei Verbum
If you’re a reader at Mass, do you want to do a better job of making the voice of the Holy Spirit resound? On June 10, Sunday afternoon from 3:30 ‐ 5:30 in the church, Incarnation will be having its irst quarterly workshop for Liturgical readers. If you are currently serving in this litur‐ gical ministry, Father Michael has requested that all readers attend at least 1 workshop per year. You are welcome to come more often but once each year is required to continue in the ministry. Future workshops will be scheduled during the week evenings along with the weekend to enable eve‐ ryone to ind a good time. There will be time for fellowship and light refreshments will be served. If you will be attend‐ ing this irst session, please RSVP to Dave Schnelly/813‐926 ‐9513 as soon as possible.

—San Romualdo
