For Your Information/Action: National NFP Awareness Week - JULY 21 - JULY 27, 2013 2013 theme: "Pro-woman, Pro-man, Pro-child" "Celebrate and reverence God's vision of human sexuality. "Discover Natural Family Planning Natural Family Planning Awareness Week is a national educational campaign. The Natural Family Planning Program of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops develops a poster each year with basic supportive materials. It is the individual dioceses however, that offer a variety of educational formats in the local church to focus attention on Natural Family Planning methods and Church teachings which support their use in marriage. The dates of Natural Family Planning Awareness Week highlight the anniversary of the papal encyclical Humanae Vitae (July 25) which articulates Catholic beliefs about human sexuality, conjugal love and responsible parenthood. The dates also mark the feast of Saints Joachim and Anne (July 26), the parents of the Blessed Mother. For further information, contact nfp@usccb.org.
July 21, 2013 Sixteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time LISTEN The first reading tells of the "annunciation" of the birth of Isaac. It is profoundly mysterious, beginning with the appearance of the "three men." This reading illustrates God's active role in our history. The second reading treats a universal experience--suffering. Paul sees suffering as the mark of discipleship. He finds joy in the suffering he endures because it is for the sake of the church. Through his preaching he hopes all people will come to accept Christ. The Gospel paints a lovely picture of Jesus at rest among his friends. Luke has placed the incident right after the parable of the Good Samaritan. But lest "activism" be seen as the only path, we now hear Jesus' call to sit quietly and listen to the word of God. We have to be like both of the sisters. Even in our harried and noisy world, there is an insistent call to sit back quietly and listen to Jesus. Copyright (c) J. S. Paluch Co.

Saber escuchar “Escucha Israel” (Deut 6.4).
