Los invitamos a la Misa Regional anual en honor a la Patrona de Puerto de Rico. El sábado, 16 de noviembre en St. Paul a las 7:30pm. Celebrante: Padre Miguel Trinidad de Puerto Rico.

Durante este mes de noviembre, nosotros los cristianos católicos recordamos y celebramos la existencia de ese otro mundo en el que moran los fieles difuntos. Esos que ya se fueron para no volver, aquellos que nosotros volveremos a encontrar después de nuestra propia muerte. Esos que nos fueron tan queridos, y a quienes debemos seguir queriendo y recordando con nuestras oraciones por sus almas. Frente a esta, nuestra creencia, sigue aún vigente en la doctrina de algunos la actitud terrena y temporal de los saduceos -estos no creían en la resurrección de los muertos- Otros quizás digan creer en esa vida del más allá, pero en realidad su conducta prescinde por completo de esa realidad. Viven como si todo se terminara aquí abajo en la tierra; como si sólo importase el dinero, el placer momentáneo o todos esos valores puramente materiales. Olvidan que todo lo de aquí abajo es relativo, pasajero, temporal y efímero, que sólo quedará en pie la vida virtuosamente vivida, sólo nos servirá el bien que hayamos hecho por amor a Dios y al prójimo. No podemos, por tanto, vivir como si todo se redujera a los días que en esta tierra pasamos. Hay que tener visión sobrenatural, visión de fe que extiende la mirada a los horizontes que hay más allá de la muerte. Sí, es una verdad de fe que los muertos resucitan. Es precisamente la verdad que cierra nuestro Credo. Así el alma, una vez que el cuerpo muere, comparece ante el tribunal de Dios para rendir cuentas de sus actos. Recibe la sentencia y comienza de inmediato a cumplirla en espera de que el cuerpo se le una para sufrir o para gozar, según haya sido la sentencia divina. Cuando llegue el día del juicio universal, entonces también los cuerpos volverán a la vida, se unirán para siempre con la propia alma. Desde ese momento se iniciará la historia que ya nunca terminará.

Palabras para meditar ¿Qué pasa después de la muerte? Jesús nos afirma: Dios es Dios de vivos, no de muertos. Dios está por la vida, es la vida. La Resurrección nos mete en un círculo vital distinto del de la vida terrestre. No repite los esquemas de este mundo: nacer, reproducirse, morir. No se casarán. Tampoco serán niños, ni viejos. Ni trabajarán penosamente, ni enfermarán.

10 de noviembre de 2013 TRADICIONES DE NUESTRA FE En 1769 los franciscanos bajo la dirección de Fray Junípero Serra alzaron una cruz en Alta California, dedicando la primera misión en la zona a san Diego de Alcalá. Diego, cuya fiesta es el 13 de noviembre, fue un Franciscano del siglo XV. Este santo español nunca fue sacerdote, prefiriendo servir a Dios como hermano lego (laico) ayudando a los pobres y cuidando a los enfermos. Siempre fue un humilde servidor de los demás. Aun cuando lo hicieron guardián (líder franciscano) nunca dejo de servir a los pobres, los enfermos y a sus hermanos franciscanos. Su afán por dar a los pobres las cosas del convento lo llevaba a esconder sus donaciones en su manto. Una vez un hermano le preguntó que escondía y el mintiendo respondió: “rosas”. El hermano insistió verlas y en lugar de la comida que llevaba a los pobres, aparecieron rosas y más rosas. La santidad del patrón de San Diego, California se apoya sobre tres pilares: 1) solidaridad con los más necesitados, 2) devoción a Cristo crucificado y 3) evangelizar en unión con la Iglesia. —Fray Gilberto Cavazos-Glz, OFM, Copyright © J.
