ENCOURAGEMENT This Sunday’s Gospel is our final selection from Mark for this liturgical year. It is taken from the end of Jesus’ teaching in Jerusalem immediately preceding the account of his arrest and passion. In it Jesus gives his disciples hope to sustain them through his passion and death and any persecution or suffering that they would encounter after his resurrection. The words from the book of Daniel also provided hope and encouragement to the people of Daniel’s time. The encouragement in these scriptures is meant for us as well, for none of us will escape tribulation in our lives. Followers of Jesus will be able to endure suffering with joyful hope, knowing that Christ’s love will lead us along the way of discipleship and give us eternal life with God. TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — Those who lead the many to justice shall be like the stars forever (Daniel 12:1-3). Psalm — You are my inheritance, O Lord! (Psalm 16). Second Reading — Where there is forgiveness, there is no longer offering for sin (Hebrews 10:11-14, 18). Gospel — Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will not pass away (Mark 13:24-32).

Many elderly who are poor, homebound, or residents in a nursing facility often feel alone, and sometimes lack personal care items. Your filled shoebox may be the only Christmas present they receive this year. Help share Jesus’ love and let them know someone cares. Bring your filled shoebox the weekend of December 15/16. We will have volunteers at a table outside the front of church to collect them. For information please go icctampa.org under events.

Congratulations to all of the 2018 recipients of the St. Jude Medal Award! This Sunday, Nov. 18 at 3:00 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Jude the Apostle, Bishop Parkes will honor one lay member from each of our parishes for their distinguished and outstanding service. Whether it’s running the food pantry at their parish or visiting the sick, these men and women share the love of Christ in many visible ways. Some of the honorees lead their parish music ministry or are dedicated catechists; some are liturgical coordinators or organize the weekly fish fry. Whatever the offerings they provide, they exemplify gratefulness to God’s blessings in their service to his people. Mrs. Elisa Wilson from our parish is a recipient this year! Congratulations Elisa and thank you for all you do for our parish!!

LECTURAS DE LA SEMANA Lunes: Ap 1:1-4; 2:1-5; Sal 1:1-4, 6; Lc 18:35-43 Martes: Ap 3:1-6, 14-22; Sal 15 (16):2-5; Lc 19:1-10 Miércoles: Ap 4:1-11; Sal 150:1b-6; Lc 19:11-28 Jueves: Ap 5:1-10; Sal 149:1b-6a, 9b; Lc 19:41-44 Día de Acción de Gracias (sugerencia): Sir 50:22-24; 1 Cor 1:3-9; Lc 17:11-19 Viernes: Ap 10:8-11; Sal 119 (118):14, 24, 72, 103, 111, 131; Lc 19:45-48 Sábado: Ap 11:4-12; Sal 144 (145):1b, 2, 9-10; Lc 20:27-40 Domingo: Dn 7:13-14; Sal 93 (92):1-2, 5; Apo 1:5-8; Jn 18:33b-37
