Cuban Sandwich Sale TODAY after all Masses. I pray these lines find all doing well. I am also praying a little that we actually have bulletins this weekend – of late delivery has been a little spotty – understandable but still very aggravating. I want to Thank all of you for the positive comments on the Mass teaching which has happened over the past few weekends. Its always good to remember or even learn for the first time what each Mass part means or where it originates. Our faith and all that we do in the Mass celebration makes sense AND there is a significant solid reason for each event that happens during Mass. The primary reason for the teaching was for our youth making their sacraments – First Communion and Confirmation however we heard more from the rest of the congregation so this may be a possible yearly event. This weekend we hear about the crowd being a little violent – looking to hurl Jesus off the brow of the hill BUT the better portion of this is when Jesus simply walks through the midst of them. We need to acquire that same total confidence in God – nothing is going to happen that God does not allow. In the other part of the Gospel about people thinking that they knew all about Jesus because they knew his family and knew where He was from. This can be a problem even for us today – please, do not ever think that you know all that there is to know about Jesus or that the relationship you have with Him is something that is stable and unchanging. We will never know just how loved we are and how many wonderful, incredible things can happen when we are open and have given our lives, our will and our control over to Him! Have a great week! God Bless You! Love, Fr. Mike

The Gospel is the Good News. It shows us the path to everlas ng life. But some mes it does this not just by showing us what to do, but also demonstra ng what not to do. Today is a great example. Jesus preaches in Nazareth, where he grew up. The hometown crowd is expec ng to hear some inspiring words, and maybe even see some miracles. But that’s not what Jesus has in store for them. Instead, he challenges them, poin ng to their self-centeredness and their unwillingness to open-up to God. Definitely not the easy message they wanted to hear! This is a moment of decision for his audience. Do they allow Jesus’s hard words to change them, leading to conversion and deeper rela onship with God? Or do they put up walls, and respond with anger and stubbornness? We know how they chose. The challenge for us is to choose differently when we’re confronted by a challenging message from Christ and His Church. One of those challenging topics in our parish today is the need to support the Catholic Ministry Appeal. It can be easy to react to this conversa on by pu ng up walls or tuning things out. But the parish’s needs are real. What’s more important than whether we give or not is whether we allow ourselves to be challenged by the invita on to contribute, allowing ourselves to lower our defenses and to prayerfully listen and discern. Try it out today, and see how the Lord prompts you. Let’s all join in! We've been talking about the new Catholic Ministry Appeal. It’s now time to join in as a parish family to support the shared ministries of our larger church. Don’t forget to bring your commitment card to Mass this weekend, or visit www.dosp.org/catholicministryappeal and make a gift that makes a difference!

Prayer for the Synod We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name. With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts; Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it. We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder. Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions. Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life and not stray from the way of truth and what is right. All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time, in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen.
The Society of St. Vincent de Paul mission is to serve our community through home visits and a food pantry.
