I pray these lines find all doing well and enjoying our fall. Not cool weather but lots of rain – I guess that is “Tampa fall.” Things are well here in the parish, meetings have started up and it is starting to feel a little normal, you know – pre Covid, really hoping that continues. I love today’s readings, but I am jealous of the Deacons because they get to preach an easy Gospel but putting up with, we three priests I guess they deserve a break. LOL This Gospel is ALWAYS the reading to use for your fundamentalist friends and those who tell us to take every single sentence of the Bible 100% literally. We would become a total “society of the maimed” which would be a shame because this is not Jesus’ intention at all! Jesus is telling us to “cut off” or rather “cut away from” – whatever it is that causes us to sin. If certain people or individuals lead you down the wrong path – cut yourself off from being with them. If alcohol cannot be responsibly consumed – cut it out of your life all together. If trolling the internet or your phone leads you to where you should not go – stop it. We are a people who very easily fall into habits over and over again. It is in breaking the habits, in cutting ourselves off from trigger points or things we know lead to a bad path that we are to cut off! Have a great week! Love, Fr. Mike

The videos for our study are all available online at Formed.org and the study guides will be available for $10 per person. (Assistance can be provided if you are unfamiliar with the Zoom platform.) 10 PROCLAMEN LA MARAVILLA DE DIOS El don del Espíritu se da libremente, y no de acuerdo con expectativas humanas, sino de acuerdo a la generosidad de Dios.
