I pray all are doing well. All is going well here. So hard to believe that school is back in session. In my day (I’m very old) it seemed like we had three months off, now it seems like a month and a half, but let me also state that the older I get – the faster time flies. I’m pretty excited because I know that pumpkin coffee is right around the corner, it is scheduled to be available before the end of the week, so - if I seem happier than normal – pumpkin coffee is back, it may also be a caffein rush. LOL This week we hear so much from the various readings, from the first reading reminding us that we need to decide whom or rather Whom we will serve. The second reading gives us a wonderful Holy insight into marriage and what it takes to create a Holy and lasting one. Our Gospel sends us in different directions, but I want to highlight St. Peter because today -he gets it right. At this moment in the Gospel Peter sees Jesus for who He truly is – the Son of God, the only one who can truly fulfil our needs. Peter really is a pretty spot-on prototype for so many of us. We are “legends in our own minds,” we also think like St. Peter did. “If I was there, I would never have denied Jesus,” “I would have gladly died with Him.” We will never know if we would have done that or not because we will never find ourselves in that situation. The situation we DO find ourselves in does call us to be “strong and courageous.” I pray we never deny Jesus in any situation because it will be uncomfortable or not well accepted. We truly must decide Whom we will serve – Our Lord Jesus Christ. God Bless Your Week! Love, Fr. Mike

The St. Vincent de Paul Society Incarnation Catholic Church "Your Invitation to Serve" Those in Need We are called by our Faith as Christians to follow the gospel message to care for those in need: to "Feed the hungry, give drink to the thirsty and shelter the homeless" The St. Vincent de Paul Society enables us to put the gospel message into action by serving the needy within the parish community area with material and financial aid, encouragement and support. The mission of the Society is to bring the love and peace of Christ to those who are suffering and in need and thereby increase their own spirituality. Jesus said, " Whatever you do for the least of my brethren, you do for Me'. To learn more about the St. Vincent de Paul Society and the formation of a St. Vincent de Paul Conference at Incarnation: please plan to attend a meeting on Thursday, Sept. 2nd at 6:30 pm in St. Michael's Hall.

TWENTY-FIRST SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Director of Faith Formation Deacon Matt Shirina dff@icctampa.org

813-884-3624

AUGUST 22, 2021 Religious Education Ministry Judy Licari reled@icctampa.org

Registration for Faith Formation classes and Sacramental Preparation has begun. If you can not make it during the week, to the Faith Formation Office, please join us Sunday August 15th and Sunday, August 22nd after all the Masses, in St. Michael’s Hall. Representatives from Faith Formation will be there to sign you children up for classes and answer any questions you may have. Please bring a copy of your child’s Baptismal certificate with you. If you have any questions, please contact Deacon Matt or Miss Judy in the Faith Formation Office at 813-884-3624 or email Judy at reled@icctampa.org.

RCIA Interested in Becoming Catholic? Is God calling you? Are you looking to deepen your relationship with Jesus and be part of His Church? RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process of initiation by which individuals are fully received into the Catholic Church through the reception of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist or Communion. This process begins September 12th. If you, or anyone you may know, are interested in becoming Catholic or simply have questions regarding the Catholic faith, please contact Deacon Matt Shirina at 813-884-3624 or you can email him at dff@icctampa.org

Catechists Needed!

Registration has begun for Faith Formation classes, and we are asking for those that may teach now or have taught in the past to contact the Faith Formation Office if they would like to be a catechist. We have been blessed with an amazing Group of catechists, but we have a few, who after many dedicated years have retired from this part of their stewardship. With that in mind we do need some catechist and assistant catechist. If you feel God is calling you to help pass on our Faith to the children and youth of our Parish, please contact Deacon Matt or Judy Licari at (813) 884-3624 and see where your gifts and talents can be used. Dear Parishioners, The celebration of the Eucharist is the center of the entire Christian life both for the Church universally and for the local congregation of the Church. All the other sacraments, all the ministries of the Church, and the works of the apostolate are united with the Eucharist and are directed towards it. The Holy Eucharist contains the entire spiritual treasures of the Church, that is, Christ Himself, our Passover and living bread. Therefore, veneration and adoration which is due to God himself, has always been customary in the Catholic Church. Starting on Monday, August 16th we will be adding an additional opportunity for Exposition of the Holy Eucharist. Besides First Friday after Mass we will now be having Eucharist Adoration on Monday evening between 7 and 8 PM and will be conducted by the Deacons of Incarnation Parish. Please come and spend some time with Our Lord in silence. Blessings, Deacon Jim 4

Bible Study Group

On September 14, 2021, the Tuesday night Bible Study Group will begin the program Lectio: Peter-Cornerstone of Catholicism, By Dr Tim Gray. Meeting time is 7:00900pm ON ZOOM (Online only-no in-person meetings). The study handbook can be downloaded free and weekly videos are available on FORMED.com also for free. For more information or to sign up, please email or call Donna Burch @ donna.burch@verizon.net The character of St Peter is both inspiring and confounding to many of us. How could a stubborn and impulsive fisherman become the “rock” upon which Jesus would build his Church? Bringing together biblical accounts, historical evidence, Church teaching, Classical art, and personal insight, Dr Gray gives a fresh perspective on Simon Peter that is immediately informative and relevant in our lives. After all, if Jesus could bring out the very best in someone like Peter, then there is hope for the rest of us.

Verdadera mentó debemos decidir A Quién serviremos – A Cristo Jesús, Nuestro Señor.

(Juan 6:60-69).
