I pray that all are doing well and staying dry. The reason for this verbiage is that I am writing this on Monday and outside my office windows is black as night in the afternoon, we are about to get a deluge!! Summer has been going well, all is relatively slow. It has been wonderful welcoming Fr. Michael Owen to incarnation parish, hoping he is as happy with us as we are with him. Today in our scriptures we hear something which is very important, yet we do not give it the importance it deserves. Jesus tells His disciples and us “Come away by yourselves and rest for a while.” All of us have very different yet very busy lives. The disciples did so much, and it was now time for them to rest. We may not have the full ability to rest as the apostles did, however it is so important that we reflect on our lives. On the things we have accomplished and recognize how God was there in the midst of it all. A great focus for reflection is to look back at our recent life change from the Covid pandemic. None of us are completely the same but God has brought us through. Our life is a gift. Please take time to look back and appreciate what God has done for you. As I finish this article, we are now in full deluge outside – hoping I don’t drown. LOL God Bless Your Week, Love, Fr. Mike TODAY’S READINGS First Reading — I shall gather the remnant of my flock and bring them back to their meadow (Jeremiah 23:1-6). Psalm — The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want (Psalm 23). Second Reading — You who were once far off have become near by the blood of Christ (Ephesians 2:13-18). No child wants to discuss back to school just yet, but we wanted to let you know that with the beginning of the school year, Faith Formation Classes will also be back in session, starting September 12th. We will begin registration in the Faith Formation office begging August 2nd, Mondays -Thursdays from 9am until 3pm and Fridays 9am until 11am. This registration is for regular faith formation classes and those making their sacraments. We asked that every child be registered with Faith Formation before they attend class. If you would like more information, please call the Faith Formation Office at 813-884-3624. Office hours are 9am - 4pm during the week. Summer hours are Monday – Thursday and closed on Friday.
RCIA Interested in Becoming Catholic? Is God calling you? Are you looking to deepen your relationship with Jesus and be part of His Church? RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process of initiation by which individuals are fully received into the Catholic Church through the reception of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist or Communion. This process begins September 12th. If you, or anyone you may know, are interested in becoming Catholic or simply have questions regarding the Catholic faith, please contact Deacon Matt Shirina at 813-884-3624 or you can email him at dff@icctampa.org
Catechists Needed!
As we set up planning for and getting registration information ready, we are asking for those that may teach now or having taught to contact the Faith Formation Office if they would like to be a catechist. We have been blessed with an amazing Group of catechists, but we have a few, who after many dedicated years have retired from this part of their stewardship. With that in mind we do need some catechist and assistant catechist. We are still in need of a few more Catechists and Catechist aids. If you feel God is calling you to help pass on our Faith to the children and youth of our Parish, please contact Deacon Matt or Judy Licari at (813) 884-3624 and see where your gifts and talents can be used.
