I pray that these lines find all doing well and staying cool! So glad we are getting the well needed rain. Stepped out this morning and felt like I got hit with a wall like an inferno, no breeze, no coolness – just brutal heat, and we are now just entering summer. Hoping all the young ones are enjoying summer vacation and that for the rest of us, summer helps work go a little bit slower and easier. We are reminded today that Jesus is Lord of ALL!!! We hear about a man that we can all learn from regardless of what we are experiencing or going through in our lives, tragedy or otherwise - Jairus. He is a man of amazing faith!! He comes to see Jesus knowing that his daughter, who is at the “point of death,” will be cured by Jesus. He had complete faith in Jesus, the kind of faith that all of us have access to. God obviously can do anything, that having been stated He chooses to act from the amount of faith we bring to whatever situation in which we find ourselves. We simply need to trust in Jesus in any and every situation we find ourselves in. What in the world could be worse that losing a child and yet Jairus had total trust in Jesus and that faith was used to restore his daughter. That having been stated – where else could Jairus go? Who else could help him, but how often do people fail to reach out to Jesus thinking something is a lost cause or too far gone? NOTHING is impossible for God! Again, Jairus is our rock star for this scenario! Later in our Gospel he gets the news that his daughter has in fact died. He does the most important thing – He listens to Jesus and never loses faith in Him! Jesus says, “Do not be afraid, just have faith.” Jesus tells US this as well, all the time, on so many levels of whatever we go through. And often times it is a lot less important or stressful than losing a child, yet we freak out a worry over what ends up being nothing – more times than not. Trust and total faith in Jesus is what helps us to enjoy our lives. Should you find yourselves in a moment of life where all is good, no real concerns, no tragedies then now is the proper time to practice total trust in Him. He loves us so much and is always with us! What more do we need? Have a great week! Love, Fr. Mike

JUNE 27, 2021 Carry your cross with faith
“Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.” Mark 5:34 As a priest and Bishop, I have encountered many people who are suffering. I’ve celebrated many funerals and witnessed the pain of a parent losing a child, a spouse losing a loved one and in my own life, the loss of my parents and older brother. Losing a friend or loved one is never easy, but we put our faith, our trust, in God - that He is in control and is holding those loved ones close to Him. This weekend’s Gospel finds Jesus encountering two different people who are suffering. First, He encounters a temple official, Jairus, urging Jesus to bring healing to his daughter who is at the point of death. It is interesting that the writer mentions the synagogue official four times. He is not a carpenter, a fisherman or other tradesman; He’s a religious leader. Jairus obviously has heard of the miraculous works of Jesus and is desperate to save his daughter, and therefore, turns to Jesus in his time of need. Ironically, it would later be synagogue officials who would persecute Jesus and call for his death. But Jesus goes to the family in their time of desperation and heals the young girl. On His way there, a woman, suffering from years of hemorrhaging, touches His cloak with the belief that He has the power to heal her. Jesus senses this and asks who touched Him. The woman admits to doing so, and Jesus said to her, “Daughter, your faith has saved you. Go in peace and be cured of your affliction.” Two healings through faith in Jesus. Suffering and healing can come in many forms. Suffering from physical or mental illness, emotional strain, and heartache from a loss, just to name a few. During these trying times, we pray to Jesus to bring healing and peace to our lives. But, sometimes it seems that the prayer goes unanswered. The healing and peace don’t come, at least not in the way that we want or expect them. We must remember that it is the will of God that prevails, not our own. Even our Lord Jesus, God’s only son, the Savior of the world, had to suffer and die. It wasn’t easy. Life is not always easy. At times we endure pain to better understand and appreciate the love, peace, joy and hope that comes from the Lord. Pray that you have the strength to keep the faith and ask Jesus to walk with you as you courageously carry your own cross in life.— -Bishop Gregory Parkes

Jesús dice: "No temas, solo ten fe".
