I pray these lines find all doing well. All is a little cooler here at Incarnation – lots of rain, which I think brought the temperature down by a degree. Students, please know that I am praying that the next few weeks goes by very slowly – I am amazed at how fast time is flying – it seems like you just got on summer break and its already time to return. One of the best parts of school starting for me is knowing it is also pumpkin coffee time once again – almost like clockwork – pumpkin coffee arrives at the start of the school year; I don’t understand it – I just love it! Our Gospel this weekend is very sobering. There is no easy way to hear the words – “You fool, this night your life will be demanded of you.” It is something we don’t necessarily want to think about, of course all of you who read this will live at least another 50 years, the Gospel is talking about other parishes, I’m sure. Each one of us however will have a day when we “change our address” and we just need to make sure that we are ready. There is a phrase which is not Christian – “The one who dies with the most toys, wins.” Possessions are fine, as long as we do not live our life for them, they are one aspect of our lives here on earth, but none of it goes with us when we leave. We just need to focus on what really matters – relationship, with our God and those we love. Things never last – love goes on into eternity. God Bless Your week! Love, Fr. Do YOU know THE WORD??? We all should … because it is God’s love story to us. Incarnation currently has several bible studies offered in both English and Spanish. But we need much more! And to do this, we need leaders or facilitators to lead these bible studies, whether here or through zoom. We have the study videos and discussion questions, so one doesn’t have to be a bible scholar to lead, and we will train you. Catechists Needed! Registration has begun for Faith Formation classes, and we are asking for those that may teach now or have taught in the past to contact the Faith Formation Office if they would like to be a catechist. We have been blessed with an amazing Group of catechists, but we have a few, who after many dedicated years have retired from this part of their stewardship. With that in mind we do need some catechist and assistant catechist. Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Incarnation Conference
Thanks to the generous support from our parish, we have assisted, from February to May, 47 households in our community with rent, utilities, food and other expenses. And we have been able to help them solely because of your generosity. The food pantry, located in what was previously the chapel, is now open two days a month on the fourth Wednesday and Saturday from 10am to noon for those who reside in the 33614, 33615, and 33635 zip codes. Those in need may also call 813-421-2201 for an appointment. We appreciate your continued support with food and monetary donations every third Sunday of the month. If you are interested in learning more about our organization, we welcome you to join us at our monthly meetings every fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 in the pantry. Las lecturas de hoy nos invitan a reflexionar sobre algunas de las cuestiones más profundas de la vida y a explorar el significado de la fe. En el libro del Eclesiastés escuchamos acerca de la búsqueda humana universal del sentido de nuestras vidas. En el Evangelio de Lucas escuchamos la parábola de Jesús que habla de quien busca tontamente la seguridad definitiva mediante la acumulación de riquezas. En la carta a los colosenses, la fe en Cristo crucificado y resucitado, se proclama como el camino hacia una vida abundante en propósitos y con sentido. El camino de la fe cristiana pone nuestro trabajo, nuestros sufrimientos y nuestras limitaciones dentro de un panorama más amplio de los propósitos de Dios para todos nosotros. En Jesús, Dios se revela como nuestro compañero en el sufrimiento y las limitaciones humanas. El amor de Dios está en el centro de una vida con sentido. Ponemos nuestra confianza en este Dios amoroso, que nos creó para compartir este amor, y para compartir este amor con los demás.
