I pray these lines find all doing well, all is good here at “Home Base.” Easter celebrations are over, we have celebrated the sacrament of confirmation by our eighth graders, soon we will be celebrating First Holy Communion. Before you know it, summer will be upon us – where does the time go? I guess that means we’re having fun! We celebrate this weekend Good Shepherd Sunday, one of my favorite Sundays and certainly what I and all pastors hope to be – good shepherds. While sheep are known as “natures D student” there are some amazing qualities that we hopefully possess as well. We heard in the gospel today – “the sheep hear my voice, and they follow.” In regards to actual sheep, they tend to be single minded and single hearted. Sheep will only follow the voice of their shepherd AND they will ALWAYS follow the voice of their shepherd. If you are like me, you know very little about sheep. Back in the time of Jesus there were many shepherds all around, so people were very familiar with them. At night – in order to protect the sheep from dangerous animals and thieves there was an enclosure, very big and very high walled with one opening small enough so that one sheep at a time could walk through as well as one person at a time. Many shepherds would use the one enclosure for their sheep and the shepherds would take turns standing in the doorway throughout the night to guard everyone’s sheep. For our purposes in regards this Gospel – what happens next is what is fascinating. In the morning – when the shepherds had woken up, they would simply call to their sheep, either words or clicks, whatever the individual shepherds used to signal their own sheep. Without even looking back, the shepherds would simply head out, walking forward, knowing that each and every one of their sheep were following behind. That being stated the question now needs to be asked – who are we following. Whose voice are we listening to? I promise you are listening to and following someone or something, I pray that YOUR Shepherd is Jesus. God Bless You! Love, Fr. Mike

How do we hear Jesus’s voice today? Certainly, through Scripture, especially the Gospel proclaimed at Mass. We can also say that we hear Jesus’s voice in Ɵmes of silent prayer, or maybe echoing through the witnesses of the saints or the cries of the poor. One other way that we hear Christ’s voice is in the Church, the community of believers who make up Jesus’s body. If it’s true that Christ is present where “two or three are gathered in my name,” then the Church is an important place where we can encounter Christ’s voice in our own lives. This can transform the way we look at our Church—and how we respond to the Church community and our leaders. How, for instance, does the fact that Christ speaks through His Church change the way we think about our diocesan Catholic Ministry Appeal? It’s easy to think of the Church as just another non-profit, and the Appeal as just another fundraiser. But it’s not. It’s a request from the Body of Christ to all the faithful to aid in our important work of building the Kingdom of God, here in our local community. Ask for the grace to hear Christ’s voice in our Catholic Ministry Appeal and see how He moves you to give. Visit www.dosp.org/catholicministryappeal

Beware of Text Message, Email and Social Media Scam It has come to the attention that Incarnation parishioners have been receiving text messages, emails or direct messages asking for gift cards from people pretending to be our priests or sisters or even Bishop Parkes. Our priests, religious and staff do not contact individuals via text message or social media to ask for cash, gift cards or personal information. Fr. Mike does not contact individuals on social media using Facebook Messenger or direct messaging. Please report any suspicious activity to Facebook, Instagram or other platforms and do not respond. Please be aware that some people are targeted because they work or volunteer in the Church and their phone numbers are listed on parish websites, bulletins or other online content. Do not reply to such text, email or social media messages and call your parish, school or the Diocese to verify its legitimacy if it appears suspicious. The Society of St. Vincent de Paul mission is to serve our community through home visits and a food pantry to assist families who find themselves in need. March 6, 2022 Our Confirmandi participated in a day long retreat. They started with Confession and Mass, then they join Adrian and his retreat team in St. Michael’s Hall for games, talks and the Holy Spirit!!
Some fun was had by seeing who could maneuver the Cookie down their face to their mouth. This helped the kids warm up and really share the day. They made it look easy.
Got it!!
April 28, 2022 God Bless all those that received their Confirmation, their Sponsors, and families. 6
