I pray these lines find all doing well. Summer is not here yet, but it sure feels like it – I am sweating enough for the whole parish! This weekend we celebrate Pentecost. There are two Gospel options which can be used. I am using the first option which states and calls us to confess our sins to one another, the Gospel reads; “Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, whose sins you retain are retained.” We are the only faith which urges us to make use of and have - the Sacrament of Reconciliation. Just by way of a little teaching which I am sure you all already know, to be a Catholic in good standing you must go to the Sacrament of Reconciliation/Confession at least once a year. If you have not been in years and do not know what to confess, I just gave you your first item to confess not going to confession for how ever long it has been – you’re welcome. For some people it has been a very long time, so we especially invite you. Please do not be afraid of confession, everyone who goes always feels much better and more times than not they feel lighter, psychologically, for having gotten sins they have been carrying around for so long. I want to present a challenge for you! I challenge you to come up with a sin that I or any other priest has not heard a thousand times before!!!!! Do not think that somehow you would or could embarrass the priest – you can’t! Jesus (of course) knew what He was doing in giving us this great Sacramental gift. We can really make some bad decisions and complicate and weigh down our lives and hearts with bad things we sometimes do. The beauty is, whatever we’ve done, Jesus forgives us, and we get to start with a clean slate once again! God Bless Your Week! Love, Fr. Mike Today, we celebrate the sending of the Holy Spirit. The Spirit’s presence is a reminder in our lives that Christ’s words are true: “As the Father has sent me, so I send you.” In other words, while we are sent on mission, we are not sent alone. Rather, we are sent in relationship with God. It’s His strength and that leads to any successes, and ultimately the mission of Christ is His work. Our role is simply to cooperate. From this perspective, we can see that everything we have—our personality, our health, our intelligence, our resources—are all gifts from God. Gifts that He gives to us so that we can in turn use them to participate in His mission. To take part in his work. This perspective can change the way we approach something like our diocese’s Catholic Ministry Appeal, an important initiative to support out local Church. When we see that all is a gift from God, our questions shift from, “Do I feel like supporting His Church?” to “How can I support His Church? How is God calling me to take part in His work in this way?” Today, on Pentecost Sunday, ask the Holy Spirit for help in answering these questions, and then prayerfully consider your contribution. Have You Been Confirmed yet? As Catholics … the three sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist are what are required to become fully initiated into the Church. If you are 18 or older and have never been Confirmed, this might be your blessed day. Incarnation will be having Adult Confirmation classes beginning very soon. They will be offered in English in the evenings. Classes will also be offered in Spanish in the near future. If you are interested, please call Deacon Matt at 813-884-3624 MondayThursday for more info and to set up a meeting with him.
RCIA Interested in Becoming Catholic? Is God calling you? Are you looking to deepen your relationship with Jesus and be part of His Church? RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process of initiation by which individuals are fully received into the Catholic Church through the reception of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist or Communion. This process begins September 12th. If you, or anyone you may know, are interested in becoming Catholic or simply have questions regarding the Catholic faith, please contact Deacon Matt Shirina at 813-884-3624 or you can email him at dff@icctampa.org Dear Parishioners, The celebration of the Eucharist is the center of the entire Christian life both for the Church universally and for the local congregation of the Church. All the other sacraments, all the ministries of the Church, and the works of the apostolate are united with the Eucharist and are directed towards it. The Holy Eucharist contains the entire spiritual treasures of the Church, that is, Christ Himself, our Passover and living bread. Therefore, veneration and adoration which is due to God himself, has always been customary in the Catholic Church. We will be adding an additional opportunity for Exposition of the Holy Eucharist. Besides First Friday after Mass we will now be having Eucharist Adoration on Monday evening between 7 and 8 PM and will be conducted by the Deacons of Incarnation Parish. Please come and spend some time with Our Lord in silence. Blessings, Deacon Jim 7
