May 15, 2022 SCHOOL OFFICE 5111 Webb Rd. Tampa, FL 33615 Ph. 813.884.4502 Fax: 813.885.3734 | www.icstampa.org.org PARISH OFFICE Hours: 9am - 4pm 5124 Gateway Dr. Tampa, FL 33615 Ph. 813.885.7861 | www.icctampa.org

I pray that these lines find all doing well. All is fine here at home base. I think the parish is going a little into summer mode, but I may be delusional!!! Easter celebrations are complete, confirmations as well as First Holy Communions have been celebrated. It does a pastor’s heart good to see so many of our youth progressing in the faith – the parents and family are to be congratulated as well. Today’s Gospel reminds me of a story told about St. Theresa – the Little Flower. The following is an amazingly loose translation which I heard from a devotee, but it really brings home the point of today’s Gospel. Theresa was part of a cloistered convent. Each nun has a spiritual director, Theresa shared with hers that one of the sisters really (rubbed her the wrong way) she really did not get along with her – this was Theresa’s point of view. St. Theresa died at a very early age and at her funeral this nun mentioned was known to have said – “And I was one of her best friends.” What this tells us is that Therese followed Jesus’ command, “Love one another.” It is so easy for us to love those who love us but even sinners and tax collectors do that. We are to treat EVERYONE as we would treat Jesus himself. Is this really our call from the Lord, you betcha – is it easy? - no way. Have a great – people loving week! LOL Love, Fr. Mike

What does “glory” look like? Is it a triumphant general after a decisive victory? Or the MVP after a championship-winning performance? In today’s Gospel, which takes place during the Last Supper, Jesus suggests that God’s glory looks a little different: it looks like someone offering themselves so another can have life. This is, after all, what Jesus will do shortly after the Last Supper, when he offers His life on the cross for all mankind. This, he tells us, is how God is glorified. And he makes the point even more clear when he tells those present that having love for one another is the truest sign that they are his disciples, that they are partaking in His glory. So what does it look like for us to participate in God’s glory? It means giving of ourselves at home, to our spouse and children, friends and family. It means giving of ourselves in our local community, volunteering and serving others. And it also means offering ourselves to build up our local Church. One important way we can do this right now is by supporting our diocesan Catholic Ministry Appeal. Ask God how you can glorify Him through your contribution and give today. Have You Been Confirmed yet? As Catholics … the three sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist are what are required to become fully initiated into the Church. If you are 18 or older and have never been Confirmed, this might be your blessed day. Incarnation will be having Adult Confirmation classes beginning very soon. They will be offered in English in the evenings. Classes will also be offered in Spanish in the near future. If you are interested, please call Deacon Matt at 813-884-3624 MondayThursday for more info and to set up a meeting with him.

RCIA Interested in Becoming Catholic? Is God calling you? Are you looking to deepen your relationship with Jesus and be part of His Church? RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process of initiation by which individuals are fully received into the Catholic Church through the reception of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist or Communion. This process begins September 12th. If you, or anyone you may know, are interested in becoming Catholic or simply have questions regarding the Catholic faith, please contact Deacon Matt Shirina at 813-884-3624 or you can email him at dff@icctampa.org Dear Parishioners, The celebration of the Eucharist is the center of the entire Christian life both for the Church universally and for the local congregation of the Church. All the other sacraments, all the ministries of the Church, and the works of the apostolate are united with the Eucharist and are directed towards it. The Holy Eucharist contains the entire spiritual treasures of the Church, that is, Christ Himself, our Passover and living bread. Therefore, veneration and adoration which is due to God himself, has always been customary in the Catholic Church. We will be adding an additional opportunity for Exposition of the Holy Eucharist. Besides First Friday after Mass we will now be having Eucharist Adoration on Monday evening between 7 and 8 PM and will be conducted by the Deacons of Incarnation Parish. Please come and spend some time with Our Lord in silence. Blessings, Deacon Jim 7
