I pray these lines find all doing well. And the heat goes on – so amazingly oppressive out there. I tip my hat to anyone who works outside daily, just the other day I saw men tarring a road, out in this weather and working with hot tar, others work on rooftops, still many others work outdoors as well – I don’t know how you do it, but I am grateful for your service. Today’s Gospel takes us in many different directions, I will focus on the last scenario. “To another he said,” Follow me.” But he replied,” Lord, let me go first and bury my father.” But he answered him, “Let the dead bury their dead. But you go proclaim the kingdom of God.” This phrasing can appear to sound like Jesus is being a little crass and heartless – this is not the case and is NEVER the case with Jesus. What is important for us to know in regarding this Gospel passage is that this man’s father (in the Gospel) was not even sick – he was not dying. So, in essence what was being said was, “Let me do my stuff first, get all my jobs and responsibilities out of the way, at some point my father will pass away, then once all this is done – I will follow you. This can be an easy trap for us to fall into as well. It can be easy for us to follow Jesus, when time permits but, we need to remember – we would have no time at all, we would have no family, no friends, we would have NOTHING without God. There is a man in this parish who is one of my heroes, owns a business, works amazing crazy hours, has a family and makes sure he has time for them and never, ever misses Mass, if he has to work Sunday morning, against his will, he goes to the Spanish Mass at 1:00 (he does not speak Spanish but will not miss Mass) The rest of his life would make a movie that I would watch over and over. Whatever your situation, whatever you are going through please make time for God. As I write this, I realize I am singing to the choir, you are here at Mass reading this and for that I Thank You! I pray you are able to influence your family and friends in the faith and importance of thankfulness to God as well! God Bless You, Love, Fr. Mike

THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Society of St. Vincent de Paul – Incarnation Conference
Thanks to the generous support from our parish, we have assisted, from February to May, 47 households in our community with rent, utilities, food and other expenses. And we have been able to help them solely because of your generosity. The food pantry, located in what was previously the chapel, is now open two days a month on the fourth Wednesday and Saturday from 10am to noon for those who reside in the 33614, 33615, and 33635 zip codes. Those in need may also call 813-421-2201 for an appointment. We appreciate your continued support with food and monetary donations every third Sunday of the month. If you are interested in learning more about our organization, we welcome you to join us at our monthly meetings every fourth Tuesday of the month at 6:30 in the pantry. La Sociedad de San Vicente de Paul – Conferencia de la Iglesia de Encarnación Gracias al generoso apoyo de nuestra parroquia, hemos ayudado, de febrero a mayo, a 47 hogares de nuestra comunidad con renta, facturas de servicios públicos, alimentos y otros gastos. Y hemos podido ayudarlos únicamente gracias a su generosidad. La despensa de alimentos, ubicada en lo que antes era la capilla, ahora está abierta dos días al mes: el cuarto miércoles y sábado de 10 a.m. al mediodía para aquellos que residen en los códigos postales 33614, 33615 y 33635. Dear Parishioners, The celebration of the Eucharist is the center of the entire Christian life both for the Church universally and for the local congregation of the Church. All the other sacraments, all the ministries of the Church, and the works of the apostolate are united with the Eucharist and are directed towards it. The Holy Eucharist contains the entire spiritual treasures of the Church, that is, Christ Himself, our Passover and living bread. Therefore, veneration and adoration which is due to God himself, has always been customary in the Catholic Church. Besides First Friday after Mass we will now be having Eucharist Adoration on Monday evening between 7 and 8 PM and will be conducted by the Deacons of Incarnation Parish. THIRTEENTH SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Ruego que estas líneas encuentren que todo va bien. Y el calor continúa, tan asombrosamente opresivo allá afuera. Me quito el sombrero ante todos que laboran al aire libre todos los días, el otro día vi hombres asfaltando una carretera, afuera con este clima y trabajando con brea caliente, otros trabajan en los techos, y muchos mas’ que trabajan al aire libre, no sé, cómo lo hacen, pero me siento agradecido por tu servicio. El Evangelio de hoy nos lleva en muchas direcciones diferentes, me centraré en el último escenario. “A otro le dijo: 'Sígueme'. Pero él respondió: "Señor, déjame ir primero y enterrar a mi padre". Pero él le respondió: “Deja que los muertos entierren a sus muertos. Pero ve tú a proclamar el reino de Dios”. Esta frase puede parecer que Jesús está siendo un poco grosero y sin corazón; este no es el caso y NUNCA es el caso con Jesús. Lo que es importante de saber con respecto a este pasaje del Evangelio es que el padre de este hombre (en el Evangelio) ni siquiera estaba enfermo, no se estaba muriendo. Entonces, en esencia, lo que se decía era: "Déjame hacer mis cosas primero, terminar todos mis trabajos y responsabilidades, en algún momento mi padre fallecerá, luego, una vez que todo esto esté hecho, te seguiré". Esta puede ser una trampa fácil para que nosotros también nos equivoquemos. Puede ser fácil para nosotros seguir a Jesús, cuando el tiempo lo permite, pero debemos recordar: no tendríamos tiempo en absoluto, no tendríamos familia, ni amigos, no tendríamos NADA sin Dios. Hay un hombre en esta parroquia que es uno de mis héroes, tiene un negocio, trabaja increíbles horas locas, tiene una familia y se asegura de tener tiempo para ellos y nunca falta a Misa, si tiene que trabajar el domingo por la mañana, contra su voluntad, va a la misa en español a la 1:00 (no habla español pero no falta a misa) El resto de su vida podría ser una película que vería una y otra vez. Sea cual sea tu situación, sea lo que sea que estés pasando, haz tiempo paraDios. Mientras escribo esto, me doy cuenta de que estoy cantando al coro, estás aquí en Misa leyendo esto y por eso ¡Gracias! ¡Espero que puedas influir en tu familia y amigos en la fe y la importancia del agradecimiento a Dios también!
