I pray these lines find all doing well and loving the weather. If, by chance, you do not love the weather, know that I love it enough for all of us. It is just such a nice break from the regular yearly weather report of - HOT. Today’s Gospel is one of those Gospels that could be preached for hours, hopefully for each of you that will not be the case. For this article I want to focus on two sentences which we are to follow but they may not be easy; Stop judging and you will not be judged. Stop condemning and you will not be condemned. The biggest part of both of these sentences that should concern us the most happens after the word (and) in each sentence. I promise you that there is not one person who can afford to judge another. Likewise, all of us deserve condemnation. Jesus gives us a major piece of advice in order to not be judged or condemned. Simply put, do not judge anyone because none of us ever have the right to judge, no exceptions. Jesus and Jesus alone is the judge and we will stand before Him at the end of our lives. I’m telling you right now, its gonna go a lot easier for you if you have learned to not judge others. The second follows suit, Jesus, and He alone, has the right to condemn, writing candidly – I think He is gonna be a lot more lenient than any of us would ever be! God bless Your week! Love, F. Mike The Society of St. Vincent de Paul mission is to serve our community through home visits and a food pantry to assist families who find themselves in need. “What is love?” That phrase isn’t just the opening to an early ‘90s Eurodance song. It’s a quesƟon that the human heart has asked throughout history. Is it a feeling? A bond experienced between family and friends and romanƟc partners? In today’s Gospel, Jesus gives us the unique, ChrisƟan answer: love gives without counƟng the cost. It seeks the good of the other without looking for repayment in return. This is the kind of love that Jesus encourages His disciples to have, “for the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.” We’re called to love like this in all our relaƟonships. With our spouse, our children, our coworkers, and with others in our community. If you’re looking for another concrete way to love—to give without counƟng the cost—consider contribuƟng to our diocesan Catholic Ministry Appeal. Reread today’s Gospel and see where the Lord leads you.

Regulations on Fasting and Abstinence

The dual disciplines of fasting and abstinence have a long history in the Catholic Church. Going back to the early Church, the purpose behind the custom of self denial is not punishment; it is to simplify our lifestyles so that we create a certain emptiness. In this way, freed from all distractions, we are able to hear and respond to God’s continued call to conversion and holiness.

♦ Fasting is to be observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday by all Catholics between the ages of 18 to 59 years (inclusive). On days of fasting, one full meal is allowed. Two smaller meals, sufficient to maintain strength, may be taken according to one’s needs, but together they should not equal another full meal. Eating between meals is not permitted, but liquids are allowed. ♦ Abstinence from meat is to be observed by all Catholics who are 14 years of age and older. Ash Wednesday, all the Fridays of Lent, and Good Friday are days of abstinence. Note: If a person is unable to observe the above regulations due to ill health or other serious reasons, they are urged to practice other forms of self denial that are suitable to their condition. Fasting, almsgiving, and prayer are the three traditional disciplines of Lent. The faithful and catechumens should undertake these practices seriously in a spirit of penance and of preparation for baptism or of renewal of baptism at Easter.

Ash Wednesday Mass Schedule March 2, 2022 7:00AM, 8:30AM, 12:10PM & 6:00PM - Spanish

RCIA Interested in Becoming Catholic? Is God calling you? Are you looking to deepen your relationship with Jesus and be part of His Church? RCIA – Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the process of initiation by which individuals are fully received into the Catholic Church through the reception of Baptism, Confirmation, and Holy Eucharist or Communion. This process begins September 12th. If you, or anyone you may know, are interested in becoming Catholic or simply have questions regarding the Catholic faith, please contact Deacon Matt Shirina at 813-884-3624 or you can email him at dff@icctampa.org

Dear Parishioners, The celebration of the Eucharist is the center of the entire Christian life both for the Church universally and for the local congregation of the Church. All the other sacraments, all the ministries of the Church, and the works of the apostolate are united with the Eucharist and are directed towards it. The Holy Eucharist contains the entire spiritual treasures of the Church, that is, Christ Himself, our Passover and living bread. Therefore, veneration and adoration which is due to God himself, has always been customary in the Catholic Church. We will be adding an additional opportunity for Exposition of the Holy Eucharist. Besides First Friday after Mass we will now be having Eucharist Adoration on Monday evening between 7 and 8 PM and will be conducted by the Deacons of Incarnation Parish. Please come and spend some time with Our Lord in silence. Blessings, Deacon Jim

HOMELESS LUNCH
