The beauty of this Gospel, the bottom line, is that The Father just wants the prodigal son back, He doesn’t care where he has been nor what he has done, He loves His son and just wants him back. Notice that the prodigal plans and figures out what he will say to his father in the hopes of being taken back in, BUT also notice, The Father doesn’t even listen. And why? Because He knows his son, He knows he hasn’t changed at all – he is back because he just ran out of money. The Father doesn’t care why the son returned He is just glad to have him back!!!!

Today’s Gospel is one of my all-time favorites – it still makes me cry to hear it and I thank God for so many Deacons because I cannot read it out loud without breaking down. I have heard so many ways of looking at this and praying on this Gospel passage. One of the meditations calls for us to think that we are one character in the Gospel passage and to look at things from their perspective. I have heard so many people think that they are the older brother in this parable. If you see yourself in this role, please, do yourself a favor - don’t tell anyone because that is pretty self-inflated – remember what is said, not once did I disobey your orders –translation you Never Sinned!!! Unless the Blessed Mother or Our Lord Jesus are reading this then yes, they are allowed to be the older brother. WE ARE SINNERS, in this Gospel, we are the prodigal son.

the Bible Timeline, The Story of Salvation You are invited to join the Wednesday Morning Bible Study Group as we start this very interesting and informative 24 session program. Whether you are new to Bible study or have been reading and studying the Bible for years, you will find this a very worthwhile program. We will begin meeting on Wednesday, September 21 from 910:45am in an online format using Zoom. Presenter Jeff Cavin’s will show us via video presentations how 14 of the Bible’s narrative books tell the Biblical story from beginning to end and will give us the keys to understanding the amazing story woven throughout Scripture. We will learn the major people, places, and events of the Bible and discover how they all come together to reveal the remarkable story of our Faith. Gracias al generoso apoyo de nuestra parroquia, hemos ayudado, desde febrero hasta mediados de agosto, a 99 hogares que consisten en 238 personas en nuestra comunidad con alquiler, servicios públicos, alimentos y otros gastos. Y hemos podido ayudarlos únicamente gracias a su generosidad. La despensa de alimentos, ubicada en lo que antes era la capilla, ahora está abierta dos días al mes el cuarto miércoles y sábado de 10 am a mediodía para aquellos que residen en los códigos postales 33614, 33615, 33634 y 33635. Los necesitados también pueden llamar al 813-4212201 para una cita. Agradecemos su continuo apoyo con donaciones de alimentos y dinero cada tercer domingo del mes. Si está interesado en obtener más información sobre nuestra organización, le invitamos a unirse a nosotros en nuestras reuniones mensuales cada tercer miércoles del mes a las 6:30 en la sala en la parte posterior de la iglesia. Diocesan Media Day is set for Sunday, September 25th
Thanks to the generous support from our parish, we have assisted, from February to midAugust, 99 households consisting of 238 people in our community with rent, utilities, food, and other expenses. And we have been able to help them solely because of your generosity. The food pantry, located in what was previously the chapel, is now open two days a month on the fourth Wednesday and Saturday from 10am to noon for those who reside in the 33614, 33615, 33634 and 33635 zip codes. Those in need may also call 813-421-2201 for an appointment. We appreciate your continued support with food and monetary donations every third Sunday of the month. If you are interested in learning more about our organization, we welcome you to join us at our monthly meetings every third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 in the room at the back of the church. The Catholic Church celebrates three holy angels of God on September 29th, the Feast of the Archangels. The word angel means “messenger,” and angels are known for delivering messages from God to his people. That’s why St. Gabriel the Archangel is the patron of Catholic communicators and broadcasters, including media ministries of the Diocese of St. Petersburg that help us stay connected to our faith. These ministries share messages about the hope that is found in Jesus Christ. That’s why Bishop Gregory Parkes is asking parishes to set aside Sunday, September 25th, 2022, as Diocesan Media Day. The purpose of Diocesan Media Day is to raise awareness for the mission of diocesan media ministries and to invite parishioners to listen to Spirit FM 90.5 and subscribe to receive a free e-newsletter om www.GulfCoastCatholic.org.
Registration has begun for Faith Formation classes, and we are asking for those that may teach now or have taught in the past to contact the Faith Formation Office if they would like to be a catechist. We have been blessed with an amazing Group of catechists, but we have a few, who after many dedicated years have retired from this part of their stewardship. With that in mind we do need some catechist and assistant catechist. Vigésimo Cuarto Domingo del Tiempo Ordinario Señor Dios, creador y soberano de todas las cosas, vuelve a nosotros tus ojos y concede que te sirvamos de todo corazón, para que experimentemos los efectos de tu misericordia. Por nuestro Señor Jesucristo, tu Hijo, que vive y reina contigo en la unidad del Espíritu Santo y es Dios por los siglos de los siglos.
Rezo para que estas líneas los encuentren a todos bien. Todo está genial aquí, entrado el otoño en la Florida. Esta siempre ha sido mi época favorita del año, pero más en Massachusetts, las hojas, el aire que se oscurece antes – ¡me encantó todo!! ¡El café con sabor a calabaza ayuda a dar la sensación de otoño, un poco! LOL
Primera lectura — Porque Moisés intercedió, el Señor se ablandó y no castigó al pueblo por su maldad (Exodo 32:7-11, 13-14).
Segunda lectura — Pablo expresa su gratitud por haber sido nombrado al ministerio de Cristo (1 Timoteo 1:12-17).

El Evangelio de hoy es uno de mis favoritos de todos los tiempos, todavía me hace llorar al escucharlo y agradezco a Dios por tantos diáconos porque no puedo leerlo en voz alta sin descomponerme. He escuchado muchas maneras de ver esto y orar en este pasaje del Evangelio. Una de las meditaciones nos llama a pensar que somos un solo personaje en el pasaje del Evangelio y a mirar las cosas desde su perspectiva. He escuchado a muchas personas pensar que son el hermano mayor en esta parábola. Si te ves en este papel, por favor, hazte un favor, no se lo digas a nadie porque eso es bastante autoinflable, recuerda lo que se dice, ni una sola vez desobedecí tus órdenes, ¡pero nunca Pecaste!!! A menos que la Santísima Virgen o Nuestro Señor Jesús estén leyendo esto, entonces sí, se les permite ser el hermano mayor. Somos pecadores, en este Evangelio, somos el hijo Lapródigo.belleza de este Evangelio, la conclusión, es que el Padre solo quiere al hijo pródigo de vuelta, no le importa dónde ha estado ni lo que ha hecho, ama a Su hijo y solo lo quiere de vuelta. Note que el pródigo planea y se da cuenta de lo que le dirá a su padre con la esperanza de que lo lleven de regreso, PERO, también note, el Padre ni siquiera escucha. ¿Y por qué? Porque conoce a su hijo, sabe que no ha cambiado en absoluto, está de vuelta porque se quedó sin dinero. Al Padre no le importa por qué el hijo regresó, ¡solo se alegra de tenerlo de vuelta!!!! Dios es de la misma manera con nosotros. Él sabe dónde hemos estado, Sabe lo que hemos hecho, pero solo nos quiere de vuelta porque nos ama mucho.! Rezo para que tengas una gran semana.
