Trischelle Molina B.E.Hey Key-uties!! Summer is over and we’re back! I’ve missed you guys so much and am excited for what’s to come!! This week will be our first meeting and I can’t wait to see all the new and old faces joining us this term. Last week, something horribly devastating happened in my family’s hometown of Lahaina, Maui, HI. We lost so many lives, so many families lost their homes, and many people lost their businesses. Please refer to page __ to see how you can help and support Lahaina, Maui during such tough times. I hope you guys enjoy this month’s newsletter and I hope to see you guys soon! Love ya!
President’s Note
Hey everyone! I hope getting back to soon has been an easy and exciting process so far! As our club meetings are going to start this coming week, we are intrigued to see who will make it to the first meeting and how it will go. To those of you just now joining this year, I can’t wait to see you and hope you get to know a little more about key club soon! There are so many service events and activities I plan to include this term. I hope to see all you guys there!
As a board, we recently decided on an RTC theme. As it is a surprise, I’ll keep it till further notice, but I can’t wait to share it! RTC will be the best Desert Oasis has ever seen before!
To conclude, I can’t put into words how excited I am for us to have our first meeting. It’s definitely something I’ve been looking forward to for a while!
Hope to see you in the Desert Oasis library after school Thursday!

I hope meeting our wonderful board encouraged you to join Key Club, make some memories, and experience new things! I know it worked for me in my freshman year. Meeting such welcoming and exciting officers and a cheerful atmosphere drew me towards Key Club. I will never forget Key Club and I hope you will soon feel the same!

“I had to cut some papers since they were the wrong size. Then I printed papers for the kids to do as activities on other day I went ahead and wiped down the back room too since I had extra time”.

Last Wednesday on August 9th, a mix of the drought in the Hawaiin island of Maui and high pressure winds left over from Hurricane Dora brought a deadly wildfire in the town of Lahaina unlike any seen before. Businesses and buildings, homes, and historical structures were all burnt down and the whole area was reduced to ash.
Historic Lahaina, the beautiful 150 year old Banyan tree, and a lot of the culture was lost in the fire as well as many families’ homes and many lives. So many families were displaced with no where else to go. Power lines fell, cell towers were brought down, and plumbing was cut off leaving families in an even worse situation when they were already struggling. It will take years to rebuild Lahaina, and as we all know, it will never be the same.
There are many ways we can help and support those struggling due the aftermath of the fires. There are many donation drop offs here in Las Vegas. A few of these locations include Ninth Island Kava, 2 Scoops of Aloha, and Generation Kitchen. They are asking for clothes, canned foods, and other resources that can help those hit by the wildfire.
How can we Help?
I encourage you learn more on your own and research how you can help and support those that were affected by the fires.
