“Hey Key Clubbers! I hope each and every one of you is staying safe and educating yourself about the current issues that are currently happening around the world right now. I am very excited to serve as your secretary this term and I cannot wait to see how our club improves and grows! So far, there has been various amounts of people doing service and I am so amazed since it is the summer and school has not started yet. I cannot wait to meet all of our fellow Key Clubbers and create new friendships with you guys. Although things will be very different than how things were before, do not get discouraged because there will be so many opportunities for you guys! I know you guys will strive and do so many amazing things to help our community even with this whole COVID-19 situation. As the new school year is slowly coming closer, I wanted to say that our board is very kind and do not be shy to contact us! We are here to provide answers to any of your questions or needs. With that
said, do not ever be afraid to contact me no matter what the reason! That is all for now, bye key-uties!
Splashing for service,
Ashley Chavez 2020-2021 Secretary

With the school year starting in a little over a week, we asked a few of our members what they are looking forward to the most this year. Here’s what they said: ”Next year I’m looking forward to a variety of things. I will be continuing my Business and Marketing CTE for the second year to pursue my career as a businessman. I am also looking forward to being a chamber singers member of the DOHS choir program as well as their publicity manager. I am also looking forward to somewhat of an extent to waking up only 15 minutes before school actually starts.”
-Reza Zaman
”For this upcoming school year, I am most excited to go through the new learning methods. Although I'm a little concerned over the whole “distance learning” since I have personal experience with homeschooling that did not go so well, I’m hoping this will have a better outcome. I'm looking forward to seeing the new opportunities this school year can bring me and how much it will impact my life.”
-Ashley Vargas ”In the new school year, I am most looking forward to meeting/talking to new people. I am also really excited to hopefully attend more school events, if possible.”

During July, our division had a two week event composed of daily service activities. Week One was held on the 13th to the 19th, and Week 2 was the following week, the 20th to the 26th. The events ranged from making dog toys to donate to coloring pages for Color A Smile. Thank you to all those who participated!
We gained a total of 53.73 hours!

Service in July also included weekly competitions. The first week’s competition was using the Free Rice App, an app that would donate grains of rice every time you answered a question correctly. The second week’s competition used the Charity Miles App, an app that would donate to your chosen charity based on how many miles you walked, ran, or biked. In the Free Rice competition we collected 751, 300 grains and got 3rd place, and in the Charity Miles competition we did 86.95 miles and got 4th place!! We are so proud of everyone who took part in these competitions!
