pancreatitis (serious infection of the pancreas), diarrhea, hemorrhoids, osteoporosis, muscle pains and swelling, decreased bodily defense (susceptibility to infections), sexual impotence, decreased blood sugar (particularly dangerous for diabetics), poor nutrition, anemia, increased or decreased effectiveness of medical drugs in conjunction with alcohol resulting in unwanted side-effects, fetal injuries during pregnancy, economic difficulties, psychological family traumas and an endless number of problems in a multitude of areas.

The only thing which really helps, though, is voluntary abstinence determined by effective self-control, supervision, and very importantly, psychological help by families, loved ones, and self-help groups.

Further below I am writing a bit more about issues problems caused by the consumption of alcohol: Nearly 200.000 deaths annually may be completely or partially attributed to drinking and the average life expectancy is reduced by about 10 to 12 years.
