El jefe ex de General Cigar Co. va a una compañía hermana, un gran competidor General.
Nat Sherman vuelve a su antigua casa otra vez, ya que la compañía anunció que ha movido su oficina corporativa a Englewood, N.J., la ciudad que fue patria de las oficinas industriales y corporativas de la compañía en los años 1970.
Dan Carr ha unido a ITG Brands, LLC, una subsidiaria de las marcas Imperial, plc, que también es propietaria de que Altadis Estados Unidos ITG es la empresa estadounidense cigarro, tabaco, cigarrillo y división de cigarrillo electrónico.

Nat Sherman is going home again, as the company announced that it has moved its corporate office to Englewood, N.J., the city that was home to the company’s manufacturing and corporate offices in the 1970s. The new office will house the Nat Sherman marketing, accounting and sales departments, along with the executive team. “We’re very pleased to be moving back to Englewood, a place that feels like home to not only the Nat Sherman company, but to our family,” said Larry Sherman, executive vice president of Nat Sherman, via a press release. “The move provides us with a bigger and brighter space that fosters greater collaboration and gives us the room to continue to grow our business, while also offering a convenient commute between our offices and the Nat Sherman Townhouse, located on 42nd Street just off Fifth Avenue in New York City. We’re excited about this move and are looking forward to a prosperous future in our new home.”

ITG is the company’s U.S. cigarette, smokeless tobacco, little cigar and e-cigarette division. Carr will be the company’s president where he will report to David Taylor, the company’s ceo. “Dan comes to ITG Brands with a powerful combination of fast-moving consumer packaged goods experience and extensive tobacco qualifications in both smokeless and cigars,” said Taylor in a press release. Carr most recently served as the president of General Cigar Co., a position he had held since 2005, until he was fired last year. He was also the two-term chairman of the Cigar Association of America.

Como un reto y como la forma de demostrar que con disciplina y responsabilidad se puede lograr todo lo que nos propongamos. ¿QUÉ APRENDIÓ DE SUS ANTEPASADOS CON RELACIÓN AL TABACO Y LA MANUFACTURA? De mi familia proveniente de San Víctor Moca, lugar donde se vive de la cosecha del tabaco, obtuve mis primeros conocimientos sobre este, ya que algunos de estos trabajaron en la cosecha yel proceso del tabaco, mi abuela y mi tía también jugaron un papel muy importante ya que estas fumaban cigarros y las escuchaba decir “este tabaco si esta bueno y el aroma muy agradable” ellas sabían clasificar un buen tabaco y estos conocimientos me fueron transmitidos. ¿CUÁNDO SE INICA ABEJA CIGARS Y PORQUÉ MOTIVOS? Abeja Cigars inicia en el 1997 fabricando cigarros de vainilla, pero con otro criterio, un cigarro tripa larga de buena calidad, actualmente contamos con 20 sabores y cigarros hechos a mano naturales y private label.

Sabemos que solo en algunos casos, estos lanceros salen de su caja muy apretados para el momento de su fumada, es un poco difícil esto, ya que, al ser estos un tipo de vitolas de corto tiempo, queremos fumarlos sin interrupción alguna para así conseguir que se fume de manera plena ante el momento que se le esté dedicando su tiempo.

1TH. THIRD. 1ER TERCIO. Para ser un cigarro de un gran tamaño, podríamos pensar que es nos noqueara a medida que vamos fumando, pero en honor a la verdad este cigarro de DBL está lleno de sabor, si, sabor a especias dulces, cedro y café, un cigarro en frio muy complejo, de mucho humo en su fumada, suave, interesante que empapa de sabor a manera completa nuestras bocas. Cuando en un cigarro que nos dure un tiempo aproximado de dos horas, obtenemos aromas, sabores y excelentes paladares, es digno decir que es una fumada memorable, aunque su ceniza al inicio se desprende fácil esta luego se hace más consistente, comenzando este tercio, saboreamos también un paladar spicy pero muy agradable, combinado con madera de cedro que se intensifica mientras retomamos cada bocana de humo, su humo se ligereza y deja de salir de forma que solo cuando lo fumamos este vuelve a salir del cigarro y sentimos todas sus combinaciones, su ceniza hace un diamante para demostrar que es de una galante construcción.
3ER. TERCIO. En realidad se disfruta este cigarro, las especias retoman los sabores, se mantiene suave en su fumada, se diría que es un cigarro con energía, su ceniza se abre un poco pero no pierde la fuerza de su sabor, se mantiene perfecto y el tiro es excelente. As the name indicates, Falto Los ProcesosEminentesis a cigar that commemorates the twenty years in the cigar business by TabacaleraFalto founder Luis Falto. This took Falto to the Dominican Republic where he met up with Manuel Inoa of

pequeños cigarros en paquetes con tabacos que él pudiera elegir personalmente y que él podría conocer sobre una base personal. Inoa y La Aurora conectaron con esta visión y así nació la empresa Tabacalera Falto. En cuanto al nombre Los Procesos traduce del español que significa “Los Procesos”. El nombre se utiliza para rendir homenaje a todos los procesos que una hoja de tabaco sufre desde la semilla hasta que está en el cigarro en la mano del consumidor, incluyendo los procesos de encender un cigarro, probar un puro y disfrutar de un cigarro. La capa Habana Ecuador del Falto Los Procesos tiene color marrón chocolate. La capa tenía un aspecto suave con un ligero revestimiento de aceite en la superficie. Hay algunas venas visibles. En cuanto a las costuras de la capa, también hay algunas visibles. Antes de encender Falto Los Procesos, me fui con un corte recto para quitar la parte de arriba. Una vez que la tapa se cortó, pasamos al pre-encendido. La fumada antes de encender proporcionó una mezcla de notas de cacao amaderadas y no azucaradas. En general no se considera que esto fuera el inicio más emocionante antes del encendido, pero fue aceptable. 1r tercio: El inicio tenía una mezcla de cacao, pimienta blanca y notas de madera. El humo era excelente, la ceniza firme al tacto y el tiro moderado. 3er tercio: la combustión permaneció recto desde el principio hasta el final. Había algo de curvatura y unos cortes ligeros en la línea de quemado, pero esto no resultó ser problema alguno y nada que un encendedor no pudiera arreglar fácilmente. Su Fortaleza se mantuvo de media a fuerte y sus notas de chocolate siguieron presentes.

The Ecuadorian Havana wrapper of the Falto Los Procesos has chocolate brown color. The wrapper had a smooth look with a light coating of oil on the surface. There are some visible veins. As for the wrapper seams, there are also a few visible ones. Prior to lighting Falto Los Procesos, went with a straight cut to remove the cap. Once the cap was clipped, moved on to the pre-light draw. The dry draw provided a mix of woody and unsweetened cocoa notes. Overall I didn’t consider this to be the most exciting pre-light draw, but it wasn’t a bad one either. 1th. Third: The start had a mix of cocoa, white pepper and wood notes. As the flavor profile settled in, the cocoa notes moved to the forefront and became quite smooth. Meanwhile, the spices and wood moved to the background. The wood notes quickly while the spices expanded to a combination of red and white pepper. 2th. Third: the earth notes mixed in with the cocoa in the forefront. The red pepper spices remained in the background. Picked up a slight grass note in the background. The cocoa notes moved into the background. still picked up some of the grass notes in the distant background. I found this flavor profile remained constant into the last third and pretty much continued until the end of the cigar. While there were some spices in the forefront, there was no harshness whatsoever. Nub was excellent, firm to the touch and cool in temperature. 3th. ThirdThe burn path remained straight from start to finish. There was some curvature and a slight jaggedness on the burn line, but this didn’t prove to be problem-some and nothing a lighter couldn’t easily fix. Its strength remained medium to strong and its chocolate notes remained present. FinalConclusion

Mosel es la más antigua y probablemente la más conocida de las 13 regiones vinícolas de Alemania. Toma su nombre del pintoresco río Mosel. Antes del 2007, vintage, la región fue catalogada con el nombre de Mosel-Saar-Ruwer y finalmente fue acortado para ser más “consumer friendly”. Mosel en Alemania, es la tercera mayor región vinícola en términos de producción y esta región se extiende en longitud del ondulante río Mosel y a lo largo de sus dos afluentes, el Sarre y el Ruwer. Además, el valle Mosel es conocida por sus empinadas montañas, las terrazas de las laderas colindantes de las riberas. De hecho, las mayores viña registradas en el mundo están en Mosel’s Calmont viñedo propiedad de la aldea de Bremm. El Mosel es una región donde la Magia ocurre debido a su suelo, la topografía y el clima, produce, en mi opinión, uno de los mejores vinos blancos del mundo ,los vinos…”RIESLING”. Esto podemos afirmar del General Luis Lee, una persona que le apasiona algo y ese algo es el tabaco. En esta entrevista nos cuenta cómo surge el interés por el cigarro y la idea de apertura un cigar lounge, que hoy es un referente en República Dominicana siendo el más versátil de la industria con ideas novedosas para el disfrute de todos los amantes del cigarro ¿CÓMO SE DEFINE LUIS LEE BALLESTER? donde hoy está Cameroon Cigar y siempre me atrajeron los barcos, al escuchar la historia de mi padre que había ingresado en la Marina y se había salido y de mi tío Jose Miguel Ballester que había sido oficial de la marina y había salido en el 1965, luego en el colegio tuve compañeros de estudios hijos de militares así como muchos vecinos también que vivían en la calle Gral Frank Feliz Miranda y eso me hizo ponerle más atención a la carrera de las armas a la que ingrese en Octubre del 1979, lo que ha sido mi principal actividad y en la que he servido con gran orgullo y dedicación sin ningún tipo de reserva. Mi experiencia ha sido muy interesante ya que he recibido una formación militar que me ha permitido llegar al grado de Subjefe de Estado Mayor de la Marina de Guerra hoy Subcomandante General de la Armada Republica Dominicana y servirle a la patria, a las Fuerzas Armadas y a la Armada con gran devoción y dedicación. ¿CUÁLES HAN SIDO SUS MAYORES LOGROS PERSONALES Y PROFESIONALES? Procrear cinco hijos hermosos e inteligentísimos de los que me siento sumamente orgulloso, haber realizado hasta el día de hoy una carrera militar consciente de haber cumplido siempre con Dios, mis superiores y mis deberes y también haber podido emprender una serie de negocios basados en el esfuerzo y la dedicación de propia como lo son D’Luis Parrillada, Cameroon, Seguriasa y Tres Cerditos. ¿CUÉNTENOS SOBRE COMO ADENTRA EN EL MUNDO DEL CIGARRO? En el año 1995 comencé a fumar cigarros con mi gran amigo George Butler quien es un fumador muy exigente iniciando con Romeo y Julieta Churchill (Cubano), luego con Cohiba cubano también, posteriormente me case con el Don Carlos de Arturo Fuente, Mi Dominicana, Seijas Signature, Aurora Preferido, Adan y Eva y de ahí en adelante fui conociendo diferentes variedades de cigarro criollos de Davidoff, La Flor Dominicana y otras marcas que se producían en el país ya en ese entonces.
HOW DO YOU DEFINE LUIS LEE BALLESTER? Mi fumada favorita es la de la noche, en tranquilidad ya sea solo o en buena compañía el cierre de una jornada de trabajo maridándola con la bebida que me inspire la condición física en la que me encuentre, un buen whisky, ron, cognac o vino. También me gusta en tarde después de un buen almuerzo, una actividad de cigarros ya sea de Cameroon u otro tipo o empresa, después de un desayuno, un buen compartir entre amigos, en fin siempre hay una ocasión y un motivo especial para fumarse un buen cigarro. ¿ADEMÁS DE DISFRUTAR DE EXQUISITOS CIGARROS, QUE OTRAS AFICIONES TIENE? El Golf, la lectura, el teatro, una buena comida con un buen vino o un buen trago. ¿QUÉ PIENSA DEL FUTURO DEL SECTOR TABACALERO DE REPUBLICA DOMINICANA? Para mí el futuro de la industria es de ventura ya que por la calidad de productos que se están produciendo en el país, aun nos mantenemos a la vanguardia del mercado mundial. Por eso entiendo que aun con la amenaza de Cuba, las nuevas regulaciones de la Food And Drug Administration de los EEUU, seguiremos siendo el país productor que más puros vende en el mundo. Creo que es importantísimo el compromiso asumido por nuestros blenders y fábricas de mantener la calidad de nuestros productos de manera haciéndolos cada vez más atractivos, competitivos y asequibles. LA GASTRONOMÍA ANDA A MANOS CON LOS CIGARROS GASTRONOMY GOES HAND IN HAND WITH CIGARS
La gastronomía anda a manos con los cigarros, si la persona come bien fumara bien, yo diría que el cigarro es una continuación del almuerzo e dela cena .lo mismo con café digestivo o súper cognac o un ron añejado, lo fumadores tienden a tener un gusto fuerte y delicado también, además el vino tiene una gran importancia para el fumador, los ingredientes por excelencia para una postfumada placentera son: carne de faisán, cordero, pato, cerdo, res, las trufas o caviar. Un poco más delicado son los pescado de agua salada o dulce, lamentablemente lo de Mar Caribe no son tan gustoso, esto último no combinaría con un cigarro criollo. El restaurante que conoce al fumador en la mayoría de casos ofrecen lo mejor que tiene del día el fumador de cigarro se siente, es un rito que al final de la cena el cigarro va a ser un invitado especial. Volviendo al paladar también la pasta puede hacer un buen plato ante de una fumada. En mi humilde conocimiento de arte culinaria propongo como Entrada. Rúcala y tocineta con un vinagre balsámico un poco acaramelado la tocineta en pedacito pequeño e crujiente, importante la rúcala de primer corte. PRIMER PLATO: Fettucine al tomate y albahaca, Plato simple pero hay que tener en consideración la importancia delo productos, aceite de oliva extra virgen, tómate italiano proveniente de la parte de Nápoles, una albahaca fresca, un original queso parmigiano reggiano. SECUNDO PLATO: Filete de cerdo con hongos porcini acompañado de puré al pesto, a mí siempre es placer cocinar el cerdo e más con esto hongos PORCINI e mucho lo llama el reí delo hongos, claro que el secreto es como cocinarlo, aquí aprendí que aparte del vino tinto ,una buena variante es el ron , el puré al pesto es mesclando la base del pesto con la papas. POSTRE: Fresa al vino con helado de vainilla, este postre es una anticipación para prender el nuestro cigarro el helado de vainilla es para refrescar el paladar y la fresa al vino tinto hace que invita al tabaco y listo por disfrutar de un buen cigarro.

DESSERT: Strawberries al vino (with wine) served with vanilla ice cream, this dessert is the precursor to lighting our cigar. Vanilla ice cream refreshes the palate and the strawberries in red wine invites the tobacco and we are then ready to enjoy a good cigar.

Añejamiento: Proceso de reposo dado tanto a las hojas de tabaco, como a los cigarros ya elaborados, para lograr su fermentación. Anillado: Colocación de la anilla o vitola, generalmente próxima a la cabeza del cigarro. Anillo: Faja de papel litografiado que se coloca al cigarro para identificar la marca de fábrica.

Engavilleo: Departamento de las escogidas de tabaco donde se realiza la acción de engavillar. Enmallar: Repasar las hojas de tabaco, una vez colgadas de los cujes, con el fin de evitar que se toquen una a otras y se sahornen con el contacto y la fermentación.

Fábrica de tabacos: Instalaciones donde se elaboran los cigarros, o bien a mano o con maquinaria especial. Fardo: Bulto o paqua de tabaco curado, fermentado y clasificado. Fermentación: Proceso químico y biológico al que son sometidas las hojas del tabaco después de su desecado en las casas de curar; este proceso es muy complejo, pues depende de las condiciones de cada cosecha. El mayor o menor calor a que debe someterse el tabaco depende de su calidad o cuerpo: si es ligero, como resultado de una cosecha de agua, no necesita pasar una gran fermentación y muchas veces no necesita ninguna; si la cosecha es de seca, y por lo tanto de calidad, necesita calores o fermentaciones fuertes. Para controlar la fermentación se hacen, primeramente, los pilones pequeños, aumentándolos de tamaño a medida que el tabaco va enjugando y adquiriendo condiciones de resistir las temperaturas más elevadas que pudiera necesitar. Figurado: Se da este nombre al cigarro cuya figura no es simétrica o pareja. También se le llama ahuevado. Fortaleza: Intensidad del impacto que se experimenta en cada bocanada al fumar un cigarro.

Gavilla: Conjunto de hojas de tabaco variable en su número, en razón inversa al tamaño de éstas.
H Homogeneizado: Mezcla prensada de polvo de tabaco con un aglutinante que en forma de lámina se utiliza en algunos cigarros mecanizados para formar los capotes y en algunas ocasiones las capas. Humectación: Aplicar humedad en torno al 23 aplicada a fardos de tabaco en rama. Humidificador: Armario de madera revestido interiormente de cedro, con una bandeja con agua y un hidrómetro para controlar el grado de humedad.

Largueros: Paneles anterior y posterior del cajón o envase de cigarros. Reciben los nombres de larguero del frente y larguero del fondo, respectivamente. Lasioderma: De nombre científico “Lasioderma serricorne” (Fabricius) y conocido popularmente como “perforador del tabaco” y “gorgojo del tabaco”, es un insecto coleóptero capaz de dañar severamente, e incluso inutilizar, el tabaco almacenado tanto en rama como torcido, mediante la práctica de numerosas perforaciones a través del mismo; por ello, los fabricantes de tabaco deben fumigar no sólo la materia prima en sus almacenes, sino también el producto terminado en cámaras adecuadas. Libra: Denominación dada a la hoja de tabaco de superior calidad. Libre de pie: Son las dos primeras hojas de la planta del tabaco que quedan más cerca de la tierra, al pie de la mata misma. Ligada: Es la fórmula de la composición de cada cigarro, obtenida según las especificaciones que se fijen, por la mezcla de distintas hojas que forman el cigarro, en función de la variedad de planta, piso foliar que ocupa, origen geográfico, etc. Ligero:
Uno de los tiempos en la clasificación del tabaco. También se llama así al tabaco obtenido en cosechas desarrolladas en épocas de lluvias abundantes y que, por efecto de las mismas, contiene poco jugo.
M Madera de cedro: Las propiedades higroscópicas de la hoja de tabaco, atraen la humedad y también los olores de sustancias que estén en contacto con los cigarros. La aportación aromática de la madera de cedro, es obtenida tanto al final de la elaboración manual, en habitaciones forradasa o escaparates, como por la inclusión de las láminas que separan las camadas de las cajas de cigarros o por el revestimiento interior en cedro de los humidificadores. Mamones: Brotes de la planta del tabaco que arrancan desde la tierra y que deben ser eliminados para dar más fuerza a las hojas que han quedado después del desbotonado. También se les llama “capones” o “chupones”. Mancuerna: Porción de tallo de la planta del tabaco con un par de hojas adheridas a él, que se obtiene cuando se sigue el sistema de cortar con palo. Manojo: Atado de cuatro gavillas. El manojo se prepara alisando o planchando las hojas que han de quedar hacia fuera, como si fuesen de cubierta, amarrándolas con una fibra. Ochenta manojos constituyen un tercio.

Nicotina: Alcaloide sin oxígeno, líquido, oleaginoso, incoloro, que se extrae del tabaco; en contacto con el aire se pone amarillo y después pardo oscuro, desprende vapores muy acres y se disuelve fácilmente en agua o alcohol.

Oreo: Proceso consistente en colocar los matules o las gavillas en un lugar adecuado para que eliminen el exceso de agua, después de mojado el tabaco.

Paño: Cuerpo de la hoja. Cuando la hoja presenta elasticidad y buen aspecto, se dice que tiene “buen paño”. Pañuelo: Fragmento de hoja de capa que se corta en forma de media luna para confeccionar la cabeza o perilla en los cigarros premium. Parejo: Igual, semejante. Se da este nombre al cigarro que tiene el grueso uniforme en toda su longitud. Perilla: Parte que remata la cabeza del cigarro que puede terminar en forma de avellana o en rabo de cerdo, cuando es hecho a mano. Su realización manual es muy laboriosa y especializada.
R Rabo de cochino: Forma torcida con que a veces se remata la perilla en algunos cigarros premium; generalmente lo hacen los vegueros en los cigarros destinados a su propio consumo. También se le llama moño o moñito, y en inglés “pig tail” o “curly head”. Rama: Denominación que se aplica al tabaco, por lo general ya curado, antes de ser sometido al proceso industrial. Recolección: Se efectúa a mano, comenzando por la parte inferior, de hoja en hoja, tomando dos o tres a la vez. Redondeo: Un cigarro redondea bien cuando arde de forma pareja.

Tabaco: De nombre científico “Nicotiana tabacum”, es una planta anual de la familia de las solanáceas, originaria de América del Sur, de olor fuerte, raíz fibrosa, tallo de medio a uno y medio metros de altura, velloso y con médula blanca; hojas alternas, grandes, lanceoladas y glutinosas; flores en racimo, con el cáliz tubular y la corola de color rojo purpúreo o amarillo pálido, y fruto en cápsula cónica con muchas semillas menudas. En Cuba, es el nombre que comúnmente se emplea para denominar al cigarro. Tabacos caperos o Tabacos tapados: Los utilizados para encapar, denominados así por haber sido cultivados bajo grandes telares de algodón, lo que les proporciona condiciones adecuadas de temperatura y humedad, resultando idóneos por su elasticidad, color y textura.
Regalía: Vitola de lujo.
Tabacos de sol: Los utilizados para la elaboración de tripas y capotes, denominados así por haber sido cultivados sin protección de los rayos solares.

Vitola: Cada uno de los diferentes formatos que puede adoptar un cigarro según su longitud, grosor y figura.
Vitola de galera: Especificacioes de un cigarro puro en la fábrica de tabacos formado por la longitud, el grosor o cepo, el peso y la forma (parejo o figurado). Las vitolas de galera más conocidas son: Doble Corona, Churchill, Corona, Lonsdales, Media Corona y Robusto. Vitola de salida: Nombre comercial cada cigarro puro. Ej: Captaris (marca) / Nº 101 (vitola de salida). Vitolfilia: Arte que trata del conocimiento de las anillas de los cigarros y la colocación de las mismas.
Z Zafado: Fase de la escogida, en la que se sacuden las hojas para despegarlas antes de la moja y el oreo. Es un recorrido por el que testamos sus características organolépticas.
