AUGUST NEWSLETTER NYDKC DIVISION ONE
A MESSAGE FROM YOUR LTG! Hi Division 1 Stingrays! My name is Dominic Bossey and I’m your new Division 1 Lieutenant Governor. Here’s just a bit about me: I live in Aquebogue, I am a rising senior at Riverhead High School, I love Disney, and I am obsessed with succulents. I have so many ideas for this service year and I cannot wait to meet you all. Just a few reminders: MRFs are due the second of every month and FRFs are due everytime you do a fundraiser! Fall Rally dates will be announced soon, so keep your ears open for the date and time. I hope you are having a great summer and I cannot wait to see the work you guys do!
Dominic Bossey, 2018-2019 LTG
YOUR INTERNAL EXECUTIVE ASSITANT Hi Division 1, my name is Brynn O’Connor and I am the Lieutenant Governor’s internal executive assistant. Both Dominic and I are seniors at Riverhead High School and love being a part of Key Club. I love to watch Big Bang Theory and the Crown. I’m very dedicated when it comes to my work, and I'm excited to work hard with Dominic to make the upcoming year in Division 1 a great one! I know he has planned big things for the clubs of the division and I am ready to be part of a team that makes these plans run smoothly. I can't wait to see the Division’s future progress and success!
Brynn O'Connor, Riverhead HS Internal Executive Assistant
YOUR EXTERNAL EXECUTIVE ASSITANT My name is Matthew Girard and I am a sophomore at Westhampton Beach High School. I am the Webmaster for my Key Club for the 2018-19 year. Although I haven't been in Key Club for a long time, my experience with it has been positive and inspiring. At LTC this year, I discovered that Key Club has many different far reaching service projects that help people all across the world. What I like about Key Club is that it is bigger than just me, it’s a thousands of kids working to make the world a better place. At LTC, I learned about so many amazing service projects, and the other members and I have committed to the Thirst Project and Yuda Bands project. I look forward to getting Matt Girad, Westhampton Beach more involved in Key Club and the K family in the years to HS, Club Webmaster/External EA come.
YOUR DIVISION SECRETARY Hi Stingrays! I'm the secretary of the New York Key Club Division 1, Tori Cummins. I'm a senior at Westhampton Beach High School and am an avid member of key club. I've held an officer position since my sophomore year. As a sophomore I was Vice President, in this past school year as a junior I was CoPresident, and I have been recently elected as the President. I have a passion for Key Club, and I even attended Kamp Kiwanis in middle school. I continue to try and encourage new students to join as well as create new and exciting activities for the Key Club community. I am super eager to work this year as secretary of Division 1 with Dominic and the rest of the board!

DIVISIONÂ UPDATE
DIVISION PCM UPDATE At our fourth presidents council meeting, the presidents and I met up at Beach Bakery in Westhampton Beach! There is so much planned in all of your clubs and I cannot wait to see all the service you do for our communities. Miles for Myeloma and Safe Halloween are two of the awesome events coming up that we talked about!
BEACH TRI-DIVISIONAL RECAP This was our first divisional and it was with our two closest divisions: 2 and 3. Their Lieutenant Governors, Anson and Anna, and I decided to do a service project. We followed Governor Erica's theme of veterans and decided to do the thing Key Clubbers are the best at: we made Thank You cards for veterans and we gave it to the local veterans at the Marconi Lodge in Islip.
DIVISIONAL UPDATE Stingrays save the date! The September Divisional will be at Hampton Bays High School on September 25th in Room 9. We will have a guest speaker to talk about Fright Night in Southampton!
LONG ISLAND FALL RALLY This year our Fall Rally will be held on Sunday October 21st at LIU Post from 10:30 to 4:15! The admissions fee is $10 and lunch will be included. A sign-up sheet will be published soon, so be on the lookout for that. We will have three workshop sessions, a Keynote speaker, and a playfair all for your entertainment and learning experience!
WHAT IS FALL RALLY? Each year, certain divisions come together to plan and host an event for the Key Clubbers in their areas-- for us Long Island comes together and meets at LIU Post for a day. Each of the rallies have workshops to teach you, the members, everything you need to know about Key Club and more. There is so much for you to learn about like how to tie a tie or the college application from a college representative. Get ready to meet Key Clubbers from all across your home island!
UPCOMING EVENT: WHB Westhampton Beach will be hosting a 5K: WHB Miles for Myeloma. It is going to be at the school track on September 15th. This event is in honor of Doug Cummins, the father of the Division Secretary and WHB President Tori Cummins. Registration will start at 8 AM and the race begins at 9. Everyone is welcome, so call your friends and family and help us raise money for a great cause!

NEWS FROM THE NORTH DISTRICT UPDATES
DISTRICT NEWS On July 4th to 8th I went to my first ICON and we went over A LOT of things: 1. This year the District’s fundraising goal is $155,000 and our service hour goal is 130,000; our job is to help to contribute to achieving those numbers, so let's do all we can this year!
DISTRICT NEWS 2. Our Governor Erica Swirsky has chosen to support Comfort Cases as the Governor’s Project. This organization puts together small backpacks or duffel bags for youth entering the foster care system. It has impacted over 30,000 children and we can help change more lives!
DISTRICT NEWS 3. Our District Project is One Tree Planted! This nonprofit organization plants a tree for every dollar donated to help combat deforestation across the world. In North America they plant trees in Florida and California; they plant trees in Vietnam, India, Haiti, Brazil, and many many more places across the world too!
DISTRICT NEWS 4. Each month our Governor, Erica Swirsky, publishes an issue of the Governor's Bulletin and each month she gives us a new theme to work with. This month was VETERANS, so I hope we were all successful in supporting the people that fought for our lives! Erica also gives us updates on all the things she has been working on in the past month, so you all should read it!
DISTRICT NEWS 5. Our Governor Erica Swirsky published her first NEW YORK MINUTE. She gives us updates in a video format, so it's much easier to digest. Go subscribe to the NYDKC YouTube Channel and stay updated at all times!
DISTRICT NEWS 6. Every year, New York District Key Club raises money for certain special charities and one of them is Kamp Kiwanis. Kamp Kiwanis is aimed at providing fun, physical exercise, and adventure. The camp is designed for every single kid to be able to have fun at summer camp!
LTC 2019 LTC in 2019 will run from March 29th to March 31st and I cannot wait to see you all there. The theme will be ALOHA TO SERVICE, so be sure to grab your floral shirts and fanny packs. Let's go cocoNUTS at the Desmond!
