Graphic Thought Facility - Kvadrat
www.graphicthoughtfacility.com
Established in 1968, Danish textile manufacturer Kvadrat develops and produces fabrics that are specified by the world’s leading furniture brands and architects. Their goal was to raise their brand profile in the wider design community and, ultimately, the consumer market. The 2010 campaign celebrated Kvadrat’s association with iconic design pieces without tying the company exclusively to particular designers or brands. The campaign featured an array of sculptured and upholstered forms that subtly referenced the last four decades of furniture design at the same time as showcasing Kvadrat’s famously extensive range of fabrics. The forms were reconfigured to create a varied body of images for press and print applications. They also formed the basis of a short film created with the campaign’s photographer, Matthew Donaldson.

Mind Design - Circus Identity for a new club and restaurant with a burlesque theme and changing performances. Since the club interior features many mirrored surfaces, the design of the logo is based on the shape of a kaleidoscope. The outline shape and basic construction of the logo always remains the same while the inside changes depending on its application. Other influences came from Surrealism, Art Deco, Alice in Wonderland, animals and the steps leading up to the large table, that doubles up as a stage. A main feature of the interior is a 3 dimensional version of the logo built from different layers of perspex, set into a wall and illuminated from the back in changing colours. Collaboration with Design Research Studio.

KarlssonWilker - Museum of the Moving Image
www.karlssonwilker.com
The new extension to New York’s Museum of the Moving Image, designed by Leeser Architecture, opened in 2011. For three years, we worked closely with the museum and Leeser to create the new identity, entry signage, wayfinding system, as well as all printed collateral and customized museum store items. This process involved implementing four separate websites and designing all of the museum’s user interfaces. We also gave their permanent collection, Behind the Screen, a facelift. Good to know: The original Yoda is on display there.

BOOKKarlssonWilker - Wolf Gordon
www.karlssonwilker.com
A campaign for Wolf-Gordon: Four ads were developed as a teaser campaign of sorts, leading up to NeoCon (National Exposition of Contract Furnishings), which is held annually at the Merchandise Mart building in Chicago. The first ad showed a rough sketch of an idea of a structure. The second, third and fourth ads showed more flushed out designs for the final installation. The final “Escalator Canopy was composed of more than 250 sides, which were covered in various Wolf-Gordon products.

SKRAM Commissioned in 1992 and launched in 1993, the visual identity created by Studio Dumbar for the Dutch Police Force is a fine example of durable corporate design. A national Police force needs a strong, authoritative image, whilst remaining accessible to law-abiding citizens. One should not change the Police’s identity every other year, so any solution has to be built to last. A strikingly successful part of the identity is the striped livery designed by Studio Dumbar for all police vehicles. The stripes have won many awards and have been voluntarily adopted by all of The Netherlands’ emergency services, including the Fire Brigade, Ambulance and Rescue Brigade.

BOOKTwoPoints.net - MAIO
www.twopoints.net
MAIO are architects, but they don’t do architecture. Each of their projects is different. From art installations to stands at trade fairs. But what all of their projects have in common is the way how they were developed and executed. Therefore it became very important to show the process of construction in the visual identity. One of the challenges of the commission was the small budget. In order not to print letterhead, businesscard, greetingscards or envelopes, we designed three different tapes and printed them on the elegant paper Fedrigoni CST Jade Raster. The advantage is the flexible use of the tape. Anything can be branded with the MAIO visual identity.

BOOKMega - Tuborg (Proposal)
www.studiomega.dk
Working with Tuborg Green is a dream job. Because Tuborg is a brand in which we, like most Danes, feel we have a stake. Not literally, but emotionally. Tuborg is ours, like SAS, LEGO and the Little Mermaid are ours. Consequently, we have approached this job with as much respect for what Tuborg is as for what it can be. We have tried to find a way of remaining loyal to both. We will start with the label – the Watchmaker. An expressive shape. A round and cheerful shape. A beautiful and powerful shape. Which can even be accentuated. When you isolate the Watchmaker shape from everything else, something becomes clear: It communicates. And in itself it actually already contains the entire Tuborg story.
MEGA merged Roskilde’s iconic Orange Stage and Tuborg’s pocket-watch label to tell the story of Tuborg as an integral part of Roskilde Festival.

BOOKRich Cousins - Hidden Processes
www.richcousins.co.uk
A self-initiated project exploring hidden code and processes within technology. ‘The Compendium of Hidden Processes’ is split into five chapters exploring the topic in a visual way, in layman terms, using experiments as examples. The fifth chapter investigated the manipulation of the hidden code within digital files. Opening a .jpg in incorrect software reveals millions of characters. When just one character is missing this creates an extremely corrupted visual.

MEGA -Rust Now a nightclub and concert venue located in Copenhagen’s Nørrebro district, Rust was originally a campaign café and party hall for the ‘Next Stop’ protest movement. Back then it was called ‘Kafé Rust’ after the German pilot Mathias Rust who landed a small plane on Moscow’s Red Square on 28 May 1987. Kafé Rust quickly gained in popularity and in 1990 it was re-launched as ‘Rust’ – a bar, concert venue and nightclub that featured performances by underground musical acts from Denmark and abroad. In the summer of 2007, Rust was damaged by a fire. It reopened the following year with a new interior – and a new visual identity.

BOOKProjectProjects - Rich Brilliant Willing
www.projectprojects.com
Rich Brilliant Willing is a contemporary furniture and lighting design studio based in downtown Manhattan. Their irreverent name—derived from the surnames of partners Theo Richardson, Charles Brill, and Alexander Williams—contrasts with a refined design sensibility, mixing a distinct approach to form, color, and materials with an active exploration of historical design tropes. The new logotype and identity expresses the centrality of the studio’s tripartite structure— the monogram both segments and integrates the founders’ initials, while a single, shared business card design is printed in three bright colors.

Coรถp - 1:1 Architects A layered corporate identity for mid-sized architectural studio, 1.1 Architects, consisting of a three-dimensional mark, logo, typography, colour, photography and written language. The collaborative practice was interpreted through the mark which was based on the geometric principles of the tesseract where imagination and varying inputs can create many possible outcomes. Unique in its three-dimensional form the picture mark referenced the process of architecture - planned, sketch and complete upon construction.

Interested in using ‘what we have’ and celebrating the product, we created bold installations using stacks of multi-coloured paper which acted as signage and information points throughout the space. Introductory copy and gallery plans were then stencilled using GFSmith’s CAD cutting machine in Hull (on down-time from making box prototypes). Exhibits were placed onto coloured sheets with a single turned up corner to reveal the caption.

Stockholm Deisgn Lab - Biennale di Venezia The Venice Biennale is the worlds most exciting visual arts event that takes place once every two years in Venice, Italy. The 53rd International Art Exhibition, curated by Daniel Birnbaum, comprised works by over 90 artists from all over the world.
The design concept for‚ Making Worlds‚ is a graphic language with a visible connection to the world, that stands strong and clear in its own communication. We combined elements from something truly universal‚ all the flags of the world‚ and created something new. The making of worlds with abstract forms.
The assignment was to create a new strong visual identity that would communicate the theme‚ Making Worlds. The visual identity should both reflect the atmosphere of the Art Exhibition, keep all activities together and create an extraordinary interest.
