Typogateaux is an annual baking competition in which all entrants must submit an edible typographic sweet. The competition is held in the Leeds College of Art Graphic Design department, gathering a good turnout year on year. The concept behind the promotional material this year is the deconstruction of both type and image. Pink wafers are the basis for the visuals, deconstructing the layers creating a scattered arrangement alongside deconstructing the name of the event, re-arranging the phonetics of the name, presenting the type in a dictionary-esque style.

To accompany the pink wafer style visuals, we proposed edible rice paper for the submission slips, embossed with a criss cross pattern, much like the pattern found on a pink wafer. The top strip would be printed in ink and returned, while the bottom section is free to keep and is fully edible to get the entrants thinking about the relationship between touch, taste and visuals.
