Twelve Trips is a research project presented in the from of a special edition publication and One night only exhibition. The brief looks into twelve journeys taken over a period of two weeks, by various participants.
The brief aims to explore two main elements of imagery; vector artwork and amateur photography. Split into two sections, the publication is made up of two coptic bound halves that are attached using bookram in order for them to work in unison.
The book initially comes with an overarching belly-band around the two halves. A small tab is pulled to rip the perforated band off allowing access to both books. Within this are two smaller belly-bands on each half, each stating the content of its specific side.

Once opened, the book offers two very different approaches to analysing the twelve journeys made throughout the UK. The vector side takes a more info graphic approach whilst the image side is more playful with grey-scale images printed on coloured stock.
The vector based side poses questions to the reader throughout, with a gridded section on the right hand page of each spread to jot down ideas, answers or doodles. Although the publication is in editions only available at the exhibition, its playful nature should encourage it to be edited and added to.
Each side has a double page spread consisting of one half of the entire map of plots including each place involved with every journey. When opened correctly, with both books at the right point, these pages link up to offer a larger overview of the whole map.

The exhibition will again be representative of the split nature of the book. Two rooms each containing photography and artwork featured in the book, plus numerous more experiments and images that didn’t make the cut for the publication.
Each exhibition room would have it’s own bespoke feel. Much like the images above, the vector graphic room would be a lot less regulated than the photographic room. Eclectic placement of prints opposed to regulated photographic shots next door.
The publication would be available for £12 (or £17 including a poster) at the exhibition. A mailing list would be present enabling attendees to be emailed up coming news on similar exhibitions and the opportunity to contribute their own photos for the next exhibition organised in their area.
