BACK TO BASICS (Do it Yourself) Somebody once wrote this about me: “Behind her smile hides a vulcano”. The time has come to unleash that vulcano: Donnarita Magazine is here! For years I had the luck of doing a job that I enjoy and that is a pleasure to share with my readers: books and manuals that have been translated in every language, photo reports that made people dream and many many collectible issues that taught a multitude of women how to leave their husbands to their destiny (i.e. dirty socks and cold dinner) in order to run to make decoupage and modeling dough jewels. Follwoing the tracks of masters like the mythic Martha Stewart and the ingenious Paul Lowe, today I am here with a new mission: to demonstrate that DIY can be innovative, elegant, ironic and not just crafty. Let’s put away the printed paper and let’s make room for the tablets, the smartphones and all the technological means by which we can continue to enjoy the spreading of ideas, the suggestions and the news that all the “souls” of Donnarita will offer you at every change of season. editorial editoriale “September is the month of going over your years and age, at the end of the summer, it brings the second-hand gift of the doubt... Perhaps it is only nostalgia for those highschool years, but Donnarita magazine couldn’t but start in September. After a whole life spent making printed magazines, passing to the web revealed itself to be a bit harder than I thought. The pages you will be flipping virtually, presumably in less than a minute, took me the time it takes to make a real child (nine months); considering that this is a magazine thought for women , though, I think it is an appropriate amount of time. From the combined talents of a group of runaway creative women now Donnarita is born: a new interpretation of DIY and of all the shades of our nature.... that is our “souls”! No woman is only romanic or only transgressive. We are all a bit mothers, a bit managers, a bit little girls, a bit lovers.... tired, happy, lazy, angry or hyperactive. From here the idea of labelling the sections of this magazine as Contemporary, Gluttonous, Romantic, Nomadic, Baby and Rebellious “Souls”, where we can all find oursleves. The United States represent the main theme of this issue. They were our main inspiration for our travelling suggestions, the hippest quarter of Brooklyn, for the showing of my (horrendous haha!) collection of American memorabilia, for the cinema section with all the recipes coming from movies and for our articles about festivities such as Halloween. That’s how we sat, we thought and started over the game of our identity, a game played with commitment and fun (we don’t take ourselves too seriously), even though having fun cooking, crafting and decorating can be a very serious business. A creative Fall be with you!

Craft your own slide-proof hanger
Did you know felt pads? You can find them in all hardware and houseware stores, and in most supermarkets, even though, at least in Italy, it is practically impossible to foresee in which isle you will find them. I swear I have seen them hanging near spare baby bottle tops once, but more often near the vacuum bags Their official use is to prevent chairs to scratch wooden floors or to preserve the sides of wooden furniture, but they can have a thousand more applications.
Common plastic hangers tend to let dresses with thin shoulder straps slide and fall to the ground. That is why it is becoming a horribly widespread custom to sew additional little strings within the dresses for the sole purpose of firmly tie them to the hangers. They are so annoying! All it takes is to apply felt pads to the extremities of the hanger. It is the easiest and most brilliant way to make them “slide-proof�.

In the same fashion create a second row of three boxes and unite the two resuling pieces. Tie the elastic bands together until you reach the appropriate length, then apply the elastic string around the boxes to hold them firmly together.
long island tea a cocktail worthy of movies Straigh from the days of prohibition the deadly alcoholic mix that looks just like tea! The NECESSARY for 1 cocktail 4 ice cubes 2/10 of vodka 2/10 gin 2/10 triple sec 2/10 rum 1/10 lemon juice splash of coke mint leaves or lemon slices. it is very important to make sure all the liquors are in equal parts. Put the ice in the shaker, then add the spirits and the lemon juice. Gently mix with a spoon at first, then end with a brisk shake. Serve in a tall glass. Finish with a splash of coke and guarnish with mint leaves or a lemon slice. DIY Idea: a personal touch on the cocktail glasses. If you can retrieve some old picture film, you can wrap it around the glass and make it overlap on a side for about 1 cm. Fix it with a drop of universal glue. If you cannot find it, you can always draw or print one yourself!

You won’t see two bijous that are alike with the “false quartz” technique. Once you learn the secret it’s impossible to stop creating! Those you see in the pictures are the prototypes of a technique that is all to be discovered. The most experienced DIYers might have guessed it. To those who are curious and haven’t figured it out yet, we can only say it is something extremely simple, fairly cheap and at everybody’s reach. Those passionated about fashion jewelry will be charmed. WWW.DONNARITA.IT

The “false quartz” technique will be a revelation for all the bijoux-lovers. In this field it is getting harder and harder to devise something new. Accessories already out for sale tend to look all alike and the truly particular ones to be very expensive. Signature designed bijoux offer sometimes spectacular products that end up being unwearable, though. The fashion jewerly out there, in the end, is always the same. This technique allows you to link originality with the style of something easy to wear in many occasions. Since this project is so particular we decided not to disclose it in the magazine pages, but you will be able to find all the explainations in our tutorial video in the members only area of our website.

There is a great designer that never fails to surprise: nature. What Munari said is true, in a small rock one can imagine the universe. At the end of summer someone picked them up on the beach. Y
ou are considered among the most talented and interesting jewel designers of the Italian scene. Can you tell us briefly your story and something about your formation?
My greatest school has been working for the magazine Creare con Casaviva, during the first few years of 2000s. Gradually I changed from coming up with creative solutions for the house to creating ornaments for people. You are known for your original creations done with

Japanese papers (“Letters from Japan” Collection) and the rare stamps decorated with silver (“La Dolce Vita” Collection), how do you come up with such ideas? Are you particularly connected with Japanese culture? And what about the stamps? The idea for the first collection came from a letter I received more than ten years ago from a Japanese friend: this letter was wrapped in a very elegant envelop, with two stamps on it that were so beautiful that I felt they were talking to me... I tried to make them even more alive by turning them into ornaments that I could
wear. That is how the first bracelets of the “Letters from Japan” collection were born. I have always been fascinated by Japanese culture, by its symbols and by all those rare collectible objects that transmit a timeless value. It feels like the object themselves suggest the reinterpretation of their use in a way that is always contemporary. The stamps and the painted fabrics of kimono dresses, with their unmistakable gracefulness, allowed me to create unique jewels, in which I played with the juxtaposition of “objets trouvés” and contemporary fashion. With your latest collection called “Lo Voglio” (Italian for “I do” at weddings) you have distanced yourself a bit from the rigorous style that distinguished your work in the past. Have you been struck by a sense of romance? What is the special idea that led you? After two collections characterized by straight geometrical lines in the oriental fashion, I wanted to dedicate this new chapter of my work to the curves and romance of the Italian tradition. The leading idea was to create a new link between the silver thread used in the ancient filigree technique and the silk thread used in the lace pillow technique. Because of the complexity of these two handcraft techniques combined, I worked for three years on this last collection to find the best result from their union. A result that could astonish for its uniqueness and innovation. Can we define you as an artist craftwoman? Would you like to tell us about the relationship between your mind and your hands?

That is a great question! I would not want to sound banal, but I think that in between mind and hands, the heart plays a fundamental role: I think that generosity is the soul of creation. By this I mean the sharing of an idea that all of a sudden becomes available to everybody. Then there is a sort of positive challenge in interacting with materials, whose aim is to give new possibilities to preset realities. This job is so particular and subjective that for me its definition has never been an easy and unambiguous task. Some of my creations are born precisely from my direct encounter with applied arts, therefore “artist craftwoman” could be one of the fitting definitions, but many other projects are born first from abstract design: that is why I feel more comfortable defining myself a jewelry designer. You live and work in bologna, a young and vital city, but perhaps a bit distant from the world of fashion. Which are the advantages and the disadvantages of working in a comparatively small city for an artist of your size? Bologna is not where I was born: studying, living and working here was a conscious choice and it was a wonderful one. I do not see any disadvantage living here: its central position allows me to move virtually everywhere in Italy without too much hustle, and to live outside the fashion circuits is perfect for my lifestyle. I love breathing in and taking inspiration from places that are not necessarily influenced by the mainstream trends of fashion just to turn them in fertile ground for a new concept of fashion, revisited and redesigned. T put it in another way: to jump in one direction one needs to charge on the opposite side. Bologna acts truly as my springboard and I am very grateful for it.

All those plastic crates found when the markets close at the end of the day: in spite of recycling, the greengrocerers abandon piles of them at the corners of squares. It takes some guts to do it, but to recover them from the sidewalk is a real bargain! Pay attenetion to dimensions: there are several sizes and in order to be stacked efficiently they need to be of the same type. The most common ones are white or black. They are perfect for any type of modern furnishing. The only difficulty is that they need to be cleaned neatly before use: we do not want our books and magazines to smell like onions!

1. Decorate the board to your taste.
2. Neatly wash and clean the crates.
3. Fill the crates and form two
supporting columns composed of four crates each.
4. Position them at the correct distance and place the board on top.
5. Put a piece of Patafix gum on the corners as to secure the board, but do so in a way that you can easily lift it and readjust it.
THE CONTAINER DESK With plastic crates is easy to create a comfy container desk. Not just a pennyless student tool but a truly fancy contemporary work table. The support for it is realized with two piles of stacked crates where one can store documents, books or entire magazine collections. 43

Cutting news on the H;E?> J;JC?L G;=B The technique used for this piece by the creative designer Ivana Barcellesi is called “naked papier-maché”. Its min feature is the absence of the classic coat of finish on the paste and sheets of papier-maché. The objects are realized exclusively with daily newspapers. This method is very simple but it requires long drying times in between passages. Here you will be able to find a simplyfied example which does not include the creation of a vase but rather the coverring of an already existing one.
quick papier-maché What you need: found plastic or ceramic vases transparent plastic wrap vinyl glue water old newspapers paper adhesive tape brushes various bowls 1. Take some of the news papers and tear them to pieces. Then put them in a bowl with water and a little bit of vinyl glue. Let the paper soften. 2. Sqeeze out the paper and make a little ball with which you will fill the vase. Let it dry. 3. Cover the vase with transparent plastic wrap. 4. Take some more newspapers and shape it to the desired type of cactus plant, then attach it with the paper adhesive tape to the vase. 5. Take the rest of the newspaper and tear it to stripes and little pieces, then just slightly dampen them. Spread a coat of slightly watered vinyl glue all over the vase and the plant, then cover it with the stripes and pieces of newpaper. Let it dry well.

Peel the tomatoes, take away the seeds, trim the pulp with a knife and flavor it with oil salt and pepper. 5. Add the sautéed mince to the rest fo the soup. Serve in a bowl and finish with a generous spoonful of dressed tomato; roasted bread slices to the side.

1. Hit the chicken legs a couple of
times with a steak hammer then flavor them with salt & pepper and cook them in the oven for at 200 celsius for about 40 minutes. 2. Take them out and let them cool. 3. Meanwhile start warming up the vegetabel oil which we will use for frying in a deep pan.4. Whip the eggs with salt and pepper, then dip the cooled chicken legs in them.5. In a bowl mix the corn flour, the crumbs and the paprika 6. Let the chicken legs drip off most of the egg and cover them uniformely with the flour mix. (If you like a thicker crust on your chicken you can repeat this passage). 7. Deep fry the chicken legs in the boiling oil until goldened.Let them drip and use paper towel to absorb the eccess of oil. Serve with white bread.

500 gr of green tomatoes
short crust pastry
250 gr of flour
2 eggs
100 gr of sugar
30 gr of icing sugar
100 gr of cake flour
200 gr of dark chocolate (70% cocoa)
50 gr of lard
200 gr of thin bread crumbs 100 gr grated parmesan cheese 2-3 small spoofuls of dried herbs mix (oregano, thyme, shallots, etc.) vegetable oil salt & pepper preparation
1. Cut the tomatoes in more or less 1cm-thick slices.2. Add salt and let
the eccess of juice dry on paper towel. 3. On a side mix the crumbs, the herbs and the grated cheese. 4. Start warming up the oil. 5. Whip the two eggs in a bowl with salt, pepper and two spoonfuls of water. 6. Dry the tomatoes slices well, then cover them with flour. 7. Then dip them in the eggs and cover them with the herb-flavored bread crumbs 8. Fry the tomatoes until they become crispy and gold. Dry them a bit with paper towel and serve them very hot.
100 gr of milk chocolate 125 gr of butter 3 eggs about a cup of dried beans whipped cream. preparation
1. Preheat the oven to 180 celsius 2. Cover a 24cm-diamter cake
pan with the crust pastry, using some wax paper. 3.Place some tinfoil on the pastry and fill it with the dried beans for the “in bianco” cooking. Put the cake pan with the pastry and the beans in the oven for 15 minutes. 4. Take out the pan, eliminate the tinfoil and the beans, then cook in the oven for 5 more minutes to golden the center. 5. In a little bowl whip the egg yolks with sugar. 6. In a double boiler melt the chocolate with the butter then mix with it the whipped yolks. 7. Whip the whites til they take on a frothy texture, then add them to the chocolate mixing with an upwards motion. 8.Pour the mixture in the already cooked crust pastry and put in the oven again for about 20-25 minutes at 180 celsius. (if the borders are getting too dark you can cover them with tinfoil 9. When ready take the cake out of the oven and let it cool. Serve with a generous spoonful of whipped cream.

5 gr unsweetened powdered cocoa 1 small spunful of salt, one of cinnamon e on of grinded espresso coffee powder 1 egg (50 gr shelled) + one whipped albumen 30 ml of white vinegard and 30 ml of dry marsala wine peanut frying oil 750 gr of sheep ricotta 300 gr sugar 50 gr pistachio crumbs preparation
1. In a bowl mix flour, salt, cinnamon,
coffe powder, cocoa and sugar. Add lard, egg and drop by drop the vinegard and the marsala .Mix until it feels soft and consistent. Keep working until it becomes elastic. Let it rest for an hour. 2. Let the excess of liquid drip completely from the ricotta and then mix it with the sugar. Put it in the refrigerator for an hour then pass it through a sieve to obtain a cream. Store in the refrigerator . 3. Take the flour mix and roll it out to obtain a thin sheet (about 1-2mm thick). Use a pastry ring (9cm) to cut out 24 discs. 4. Stretch the cutouts to obtain ovals and wrap them around metal cilinders, sealing the pastry with a bit of whipped albumen. 5. Fry the wrapped wafer pastries few at the time. Let them cool before taking out the cilinders. 6. Fill the wafers with the ricotta cream. Finish with the pistachio crumbs.

Cupcakes are a moment of personal pleasure: soft and creamy single-dose cakes that are suitable to countless aeshetic and taste variations. Traditional cake design gives us unlimited assormtents, but what often happens is that the excessive use of sugar paste or plastic like-chocolate alters their taste making them better to be looked at than to be eaten. We think this is an original alternative: a touch of sugar paste to create leaves and deliscious real berries on a bed of freshly whipped cream.
To make the sugar leaves recipe
For 6 dark berries cupcakes
ingredients
60 gr of softened butter 85 gr of sugar 1 room-temperature egg 90 gr of cake flour 80 ml of milk a small spoonful of baking yeast a pinch of salt a small spoonful of vanilla extract 100 gr of blueberries, fresh or frosted
For the topping
250 ml of fresh cream to yet to be whipped a spoonful of sugar fresh blueberries and blackberries Making the bases 1. Preheat the oven until it reaches 180 celsius. 2. Whisk sugar and butter together till you get a fair and spongy mixture of dough. 3. Add the egg and the vanilla extract and mix well together. 4. Little by little add the flour, the yeast and a pinch of salt. 5. Mix eveything while slowly adding milk 6. Add the blueberries in the end, trying not to break them. 7. Place the fluted paper cases in a muffin baking tray and pour about a spoonful of dough in each case, filling them to the middle. 8. Bake for about 20 minutes at 180 celsius. 9. Let them cool before serving.

1. Make four sugar paste balls and color them with four
different shades of green. 2. Roll out the paste and cut it with the leaf-shaped rings or with the sharp knife making the shape yourself and then mold the details with you hands. If the paste tends to stick to the bottom use a bit of cake sugar. 3. Place the leaves on a glass bottle and let them dry for at least a night. 4. To make the little branches just mold little strings of paste then wrap them around the handle of a wooden spoon . Let them dry, then take them gently off the handle.

To taste these types of cupcakes at their best it is necessary to guarnish the tops shortly before serving. The “Trompe l’oeil” effect that creates between real berries and sugar leaves is fantastic and truly easy to make. Success is garanted!

Eventually, add the red food dye and mix well. 6 Place the fluted paper cases in a muffin baking tray and pour about a spoonful of dough in each case, filling them to the middle. 8. Bake for about 20 minutes at 180 celsius. 9. Let them cool before serving. GUARNISHING THE TOP Whip the cream. (If you want to make it very thick you can optionally add some cream thickener). Put the cream in a pastry bag and create a bed for your berries on the top of the cake. Decorate with the fresh berries and the sugar leaves we created previously. 65

How to make it 1. Cut the sweet potato in two along the longer side, then roast it in the oven at 200 celsius for 40 minutes, with the cut side facing down. 2. Put the oat flakes in the blender untill they are just about as thick as bread crumbs. 3. Take the potato out of the oven and let it cool. Mince together the half onion, the coriander and the chilli pepper, if you are using it. 4. Peel the cooled potato and mash it, mixing it with the beans, the herbs mix, the quinoa and all the other ingredients, except for the blended oats. Mash everything together with a wooden spoon. 5.Add to the mixture about 4 spoonfuls of the blended oats, until it takes on a consistent feeling. Put the resulting dough in the refrigerator for about two hours. 6. Mold a burger-like loaf of the desired size. Bread it with the remaining blended oats and flavor it with a bit of salt, pepper and some more paprika, then sautée it in a warm pan with a little bit of oil. Let both sides golden then let it cool. 7. Serve the veggie loaf in a whole wheat bun with sesame and linseed, using your toppings of choice (we tried arugula, fresh tomatoes and guacamole: delicious!) LEAF PRINTING TECHNIQUE ON FABRIC It is a very simple technique, very well known among kindergarden and elementary school teachers. When revised for home decor, you can use it to create fine homeware objects such as tablecloths, table runners and pillows. The method used is very easy to learn but to get best results one needs to follow carefully a few tips. THE FABRIC It is mandatory that the fabric is in natural fiber: cotton, linen or hemp. It needs to be washed several times before attempting to print on it: a single wash cycle will not free the fabric from the industrial starch. The best fabrics for this type of job are old linen or hemp sheets that have already been washed a hundred times. WHAT YOU SHOULD KNOW ABOUT COLORS It is not true that one must use only special fabric dyes. Any acrylic color of good quality will grant great results. The secret to avoid the colors to fade is to wait at least four or five days before washing the decorated fabric for the first time, and remember never to use high temperature cycles, which can ruin even the best industrial prints.

IF YOU MADE A MISTAKE If you are working on white fabrics it is possible to make up for any unforeseen mistake. One simply needs to wash the fabric immediately and scrape it with bleaching products. Classic house bleach is perfect. Of course, the best cure is prevention and a good advice is to make some attempts on scraps of old fabric before going for the final product. FINISH THE DETAILS BY HAND The difference between a leaf printed by a child and one made by an adult is in the care of details. Once the leaf impression has been printed it is necessary to handpaint the stem with a thin brush. This little trick truly can turn your work in a piece of natural art! Serving 4 people 250gr of Queensland blue pumpkin pulp (also known as cucurbita maxima) 2 cups of Carnaroli rice 2 scallions 4 spoonfuls of butter 2 spoonfuls of oil 12 fresh leaves of sage a small spoonful of dried thyme 100-150gr fresh grated parmesan cheese a glass of dry white wine vegetable or meat broth to taste nutmeg salt & pepper to taste
1. Mince the scallion and heat up two spoonfuls respectively of oil and butter. Sautée the sage leaves till they get crispy. Then take them out and let them dry on paper towel. In a small pot start heating up the broth at low fire.
2. Sautée the scallion with the oil and butter
mixture which was flavored with sage. Add salt and cook till the scallion turns almost translucent. Add the rice then and let it toast for a few minutes. Then add little bits of white wine letting it evaporate completely.
Be they cucurbita maximas, pepos moschata or argyosperms, pumpkins are a mastterpiece of nature’s art.There are about sixty different species, the majority of which is edible. In Italian gastronomy they were once used only in regional dishes, and they used to vary depending on the season and the varieties cultivated locally. Today, in Italy, pumpkin recipes for pastas, fried food, and even sweets are constantly enriching contemporary cuisine.
3. Start cooking the rice by adding little quan-
tities of broth and letting the rice slowly absorb them. When it is about half cooked add the pumpkin pulp and the thyme. Keep adding broth, stirring often as to blend the pumpking with the rice. Eventually, take away from the fire.
4. Grate half nutmeg directly on the pan and
add butter, Parmesan cheese and the crispy sage leaves. Stir quickly and let it rest covered for about 5 minutes. Serve on plates decorated with fresh sage leaves.
PUMPKIN SOUP BOWL
To serve the risotto inside the pumpking you must empty it almost completely. You will use the pulp for the recipe. If you are preparing this as a single dish then you can cook the pumpkin in which the rice will be served this way: open it and empty it from the seeds. Flavor it with salt, pepper and a little bit of oil, then roast it at 220 celsius in the oven, until it becomes soft In this case, together with the risotto you can also serve a slice of the pumpkin we are using as container. my kitsch wunderkammer
Throwing away USED stuff? Wait a second! For years I have been collecting all sorts of “crap” (aeshetically speaking). It is by doing so that I started creating my personal Wunderkammer, or, as I rather like to call it, my Kitsch Wunderkammer, which I decided to share (I am already blushing while writing this) with Donnarita’s readers. For the most it is composed of travelling mementos, and presents I received from friends who know well my perverse attraction for “wonderful things of awful taste”, to quote the Italian poet Guido Gozzano. Since so much of this issue takes inspiration from the land of the stars and stripes, I will start with a small section of my American “kitschies” (the word does not exist, but it fits!)
Wunderkammer
In Italian it is called “Camera delle meraviglie”, in French “Cabinet de curiosités”. “Wunderkammer” is a German expression that means “Cabinet of Wonders” and indicates a specific type of room where, in between the XVI and XVIII centuries, collectors used to store and display objects considered extraordinary for their intrinsic and exterior features. W
ho forgets the shameless Samantha from Sex and the City when she declared she would not, under any circumstance, leave Manhattan to get “out of the city”? She meant Brooklyn, of course. Things change, though, and for a few years now those who come to New York City, even for just a few days, cannot do without adding Williamsburg to their itinerary. Williamsburg is in Brooklyn. If you are in New York, Time Square is a must, the Empire State Building is worth a ride and a step on the 5th Avenue’s catwalk is too tempting to resist (where if you are Italian and a little home-sick I suggest passing by the lines of Italian tourists in front of Abercrombie and Fitch). A walk in Central park then is mandatory to recover your energies from midtown. Generally, afterwards one makes a pilgrimage to the new One World Trade Center and eventually goes to enjoy a sunset seen from the new High Line Park. But when you are below 14th street you are just three stops away from Williamsburg in Brooklyn.
“Absolutely, the coolest and most incredible place in all New York!!! You cannot miss this!!!! Full of bars, all kinds of restaurants and vintage shops!!!!!! Amaaaaazing” That’s a quote from a rather enthusiastic traveller who posted on Trip Addvisor. I love Williamsburg too. Over the last few years I had the opportunity of staying there and explore it thoroughly. We will inaugurate this travelling section with a few pictures taken in this truly special part of New York. It is special because it is not a Brooklyn as monotonous as certain parts of the periphery nor a Brooklyn as “strong” as Bushwick (which is a really exciting area but still has some sketchy parts). Williamsburg is a young place, cheerful and absolutely fit for everybody. The first reaction seeing it, especially if you are

over thirty, like in my case, might be that of feeling a little old. Because here -it is unbelievable- everybody is young! Here is where alternative fashions are born, here is where every week there pops a new restaurant, here you can find odd stuff on the street, it is the temple of vintage and all the health fanatic trends. If you can, try to spend there at least a night. You will not find many hotels but rather private lofts, homes of artists and creative talents. Everybody rents out and you can even find (sometimes) less prohibitive prices than Manhattan, where a brief stay can cost you more than plane tickets. A night spent in an “artist cave” can make a vacation unforgettable. If you are short on time, instead, choose an afternoon to walk all of Bedford avenue, checking all the cross streets where the most interesting shops are hidden. Here you can find the best North European design, signature vintage stuff and small galleries of artists and craftmen. There are no big signs on the shops, many places are to be “found”, so follow your instict. Enjoy a bubble tea on the streets of Williamsburg and take it easy by making stops in the various bars and little restaurant, many of which have tables outside. In this New York every place is different from the other because the quarter’s philosophy is the opposite from the one America is famous for. Here there are no chains and not many brand names. This is the reign of the creative talents and the hipsters. Those who decide to live in Williamsburg have to start to think how to transmit their own uniqueness. To stand from the crown is the rule here. If you are looking for something curious and original you will find it here. And do not be too surprised if you notice that the street are not that clean: you know... they are just kids.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SHOW UP AT THE DOORS OF FRIENDS AND ACQUAINTANCES TO CLAIM THE DUE TRIBUTE OF CANDIES AND CHOCOLATE? A SCARY CANDY-BAG! ! TRICK OR TREAT CONES what you need Bristol paperboard: white, orange yellow and green scissors stick glue black chenille wire plastic googly eyes black crepe paper a black sharpy paper adhesive tape
WITCH CONE 1- Cut a piece of paperboard shaped like a quarter of a circle, then roll it up to form a cone and glue it. 2- Cut from the same color of paperboard a piece shaped like a nose and glue it to the cone, then with the sharpy draw the mouth. 3- Prepare stripes of crepe paper and glue them on the inside boarder of the cone to create the hair. 4- Glue the googly eyes, then with the sharpy draw the eyebrows. 5- With the paper tape attach a piece of chenille wire, bending it to form a handle.
VAMPIRE, JACK-O’ AND GHOST CONES
To make the vampire cone follow the same method used for the witch without adding the hair. Glue the eyes at different heights utilizing half circles glued on top of them to create a mean gaze. Draw the mouth with a sharpy and glue two pieces of white paperboard to make the teeth. The jack-o’-lantern and the ghost cone are the easiest to make: for the jack-o’Iantern you just need to use the balck sharpy and draw the eyes, the mouth and the nose; for the ghost you just need to draw the eyes and the mouth.

1-Cut the high leg part of the collants, then tie one of the extremities, reverse it to form the hat and leave the knot in the inside part. 2-Cut the wings out of the black paperboard and glue them on the sides of the hat. 3- Cut the ears from the black felt fabric and glue them to the hat. 4- Cut two discs from the yellow felt, then two smaller ones from the black one, glue them on top of each other to create the eyes, then glue them to the hat. 5-Cut two triangles from the white plastic, then make two little holes in each one of them in order to easily sew them under the eyes.of the bat.
1-Cut the high part of a leg from the black collants and one from the fishnets, then tie up one of the extremities of the resulting pieces, reverse them to form two hats and keep the knots in the inside part for both. 2- Put four chenille wire pieces parallel to each other, then place a fifth one perpendicular in the center and wrap it around the others as to hold them together. 3- Bend the legs of the spider. 4--Glue the three googly eyes on the spider. 5-- Wear the black hat first then the orange fishnet one. Fit the spider’s legs in the fishnet holes and wrap them a bit around the thread to make them hold.

ATTENTION: THE CRAFTING OF THE LANTERNS WITH EMPTY DETERGENT CONTAINERS REQUIRES THE USE OF PRECISION CUTTERS, THEREFORE THIS JOB SHOULD BE DONE ONLY BY ADULTS
Ghost Lanterns and Bat Lanterns WHAT YOU NEED plastic detergent bottles. Only in colors white and black. a thick black indelible sharpy sharp scissors nailcare scissors precision cutter bristol black paperboard stick glue red round label stickers short thick candles glasses to hold the candles GHOST LANTERN 1- Cut the base of the detergent bottle with the precision cutter. Polish the borders with scissors if needed. 2- With the black sharpy draw the borders of the mouth and the eyes, then carve them with the cutter. In some cases you can use the bottle’s handle as one of the eyes. 3- With the black sharpy color the borders of the carvings of the mouth and the eyes. BAT LANTERNS 1- Cut the base of a black detergent bottle with a precision knife. 2- Carve two holes to make the eyes and two long triagles o make the teeth. 3- Draw the eyes on the black paperboard, then cut them out and glue them upside down on the back of the bottle. 4- Stick the red label stickers on the bat’s eyes then pierce them.
PARTY LIGHTS GARDLANDS WHAT YOU NEED White, black, blue or orange plastic cups black sharpy nailcare scissors bristol black paperboard stick glues yellow round label stickers a pencil a garland of party lights (like chistmas lights) PUMPKIN LIGHTS 1- Draw three triagnles on an orange papercup: two pointing up and one pointing downwards. Draw some rectangles regularly distancing them from each other along the border of the cup. Then carve everything with the nailcare scissors. BAT LIGHTS 1- Draw the teeth near the border of the black papercup, then cut accordingly 2- With the tip of the nailcare scissors make two holes where the bat’s eyes will be and cut out two circles. 3- Cover the holes with two yellow round label stickers. Draw the pupils on them. 4-Draw the wings on the black paperboard, cut them out and glue them to the back of the bat cup. GHOST LIGHTS 1- Draw two ovals to simulate the eyes and a curvy line all long the borders of a white papercup. with the nailcare scissors carve the eyes and cut along the borders following the line of the mouth. For all papercups: Make two cuts that cross each other perendicularly on the base of each cup and fit the light inside.
For all lanterns: Place the candle inside a glass and position the carved bottel on top of it.

Did you know about “Tape Art”? It is a DIY technique launched over the last few years in Japan and it is loved much by those passionate about scrabooking. It utilizes paper adhesive tapes printed with all sorts of colors and patterns. It is perfect for decorations on photo albums, copybooks, and any other small object you could think of. In Italy tape art has not yet spread out much, partly because of the lack of publications on this theme and partly because of the price of the tapes used for this technique. At Donnarita we adore these tapes and we have been using them for long time. Right when we where in the middle of a photoshoot related to tape art, our photographer had a fantastic idea and said: “these could be perfect for decorating nails as well!” . It has been a while now, nail art has become huge everywhere and we remembered that intuition she had. I am sure that those who have some knowledge of manicure probably already imagined what is the trick and how ingenious it is. Basically, it is like decoupaging your nails. all you need is to apply a small piece of tape over your nails and finish it off carefully using a scalpel or the nailcare scissors. Afterwards you need to apply a couple of coats of hardening transparent nail poilish.

Fifty shades? I’d rather go back to The Monkey! After the worldwide success of the series of books “Fifty Shades” the soft porn genre has been fully legitimized even by the most prudish of women. We asked a professional writer, who knows a great deal about sex (and books), what he thinks about it by Antonio Armano
T
he soft erotism with a happy ending of the trilogy of books by E.L.James and Irene Cao recalls that yiddish joke where the old mother is watching a porn movie waiting for the protagonists to get married. When the Fifty Shades series came out in Italy the risqué romance genre found its new incarnation in a women-oriented format where the trangressive and explosive force of erotism is annuled to make room to a romaticism illuminated by a faded red light. Even in language there has been a tranformation of the words “cock” and “pussy”, whose use was a conquer of the Sixties and Seventiesk: now they are substituted by pale euphemisms like “his member” or “her sex”. If this is what is all about then it is better to go back to the times of the butter-enhanced sodomy of Last Tango in Paris (there is always the option of extra virgin olive oil, which is less fat). To the ladies in seek of emotions instead i suggest some classics of the contemporary literature such as Tropic of Cancer by Henry Miller, one of the prophets of a sexually sincere era. Or Portnoy’s Complaint, by Philip Roth, with those beautiful pages where the protagonist, a New York politician, recounts to his psychoanalyst his relationship with The Monkey: an unhibited model divorced from a billionare whose passion was to have black women defecate on a crystal table while he watched them from underneath. To get to something more recent there are Damage by Josephine Hart, or Bitter Moon by the French philosopher Pascal Bruckner. Both these books have been made into movies respectively by the directors Louis Malle and Roman Polanski. In both novels, like in Last Tango, someone dies. In these books, just like the ancient Greeks like Hesiod described it, the eros recollects a Dionysian role able to annul rationality and wisdom. Perhaps there is more moralism than in the edulcorated versions with a happy ending, but in the great books of history everything goes back to the way it was in the beginning. Moreover, - and this counts especially for Miller and Roth - irony and the narrative art are full of shades of much higher level. DONNARITAMAGAZINE
