The Editorial note... So here we are with the first paid issue of the magazine. It was a bold move but we all felt that it was the right thing to do. The reason for charging is to pay the people who have been writing for the magazine from the start. Also we will be having some competitions and also people and charity's to sponsor so your money will be going towards this. Our loyal readers have been growing and growing and we felt that in order to give you more, we needed to make a small profit from the magazine. There will still be the first six issues for people to read for free and also the opportunity to buy back issues and maybe the possibility of getting printed issues. ( We are still working on this) The March issue of the magazine was a great success and we are really pushing to get people to know who we are and what we provide with this magazine.. So as always, everyone is busy writing and I enjoy the Charity shop challenge article that we will be doing each month.

Editor In Chief Helen Wright.

Contributing Writer Darren Essex, Sarah Pearce, Poppy Hooton, Simon Oliver,

Contributing Writer Jessica Jenny, Declan Schemmell, Isabelle Atunrase, Shanha Thwaites. Christina V.

From the editor.. Metamorphosis We are growing better and stronger with each issue. It's been a real journey of discovery for myself and the team. For everyone who works for the magazine... I have been so in awe and also very proud of the team that have come together to make FEMINARUM a real success. The open door policy concerning our writers, means that we listen and give you the reader, what you want. More established magazines are only just figuring this out. Each month we will strive to make the magazine bigger and better. Give you want you want to see from FEMINARUM. So keep supporting us as we change and develop into something new and spectacular....(photo by Double8) 4 FEMINARUM

"We were shortlisted in the Start Up category in the Observer and Gazette Business awards."

We are really looking forward to expanding the pages of the magazine to include a wide range of different articles. Our aim is to provide our readers with a really great magazine that supports local businesses and works with a wide range of charities in highlighting their cause. Th e s u c c e s s o f t h e magazine depends on the wonderful diversity of the team of people that write for the

magazine and also the amazing appreciative people that have been reading the magazine from the start. As always, I will be hoping to cover some motor events and also possibly expanding the tech side of the magazine. It has been hard work and everyone has invested a lot of time into the magazine and we all hope that it's success is down to being passionate about the

magazine and what it represents. We hope that you will all support us now we have star ted charging a monthly fee for the new improved magazine... We hope you enjoy this issue, Helen and the team...

Art is a personal and there is something for everyone. C John Tayor's work caught my eye but as I said, art is subjective."

6 FEMINARUM

A is for Art Artistic issue this month... I went to the retrospective of Jack Vettriano in Glasgow and also the C John Taylor gallery.

Art is something that we all have an opinion about. There is a type of art for everyone from Turner to Warhol. This month is all about art and artists. Painters, photographers, textiles designers, models are all people who dabble with the world of art in all of it's wider forms. I also include an article covering the Carboardcitizens and the work that they do by putting together theatre productions. There is my article on the exhibition at the Kelvingrove Gallery where I saw the retrospective on Vettriano. Whilst in Scotland, I also saw the collection of C John Taylor. He was a unique artist and although his work was not to everyone's taste, I found it

very interesting to compare his style to other artists. There was one particular piece of art that I really liked but then as always art is a matter of personal taste. I enjoyed both the exhibitions and would of happily spent all day at both. So this month we are looking at artists and art.. This means that our writers will be tailoring their articles around this subject.

"Art is something that pleases the eye and the mind. There is something wonderful about looking at art up close. It allows you to feel closer to the artists. Each issue of the magazine is based loosely on a theme and this months is all about art in its infinite variety.

We wanted a magazine that would cover a wide spectrum as well as covering our usual topics."
