was added so that all fair events could be accommodated. The $9.9 million project was approved by Laramie County voters in the Fall of 2017. Since then, PCD has led a design team comprised of the local talents of Tobin Architects, AVI Engineering, Woods Engineering, Inberg Miller Geotechnical and Norris Designs to complete the construction documents in less than four months. A construction manager has been hired and a ground-breaking ceremony was held on April 24th. Construction is expected to be completed in time for the new facility to host the 2019 Laramie County Fair. A

For the Laramie County Fair, good things come to those who wait. PCD began working for the Laramie County Fair in 2013 on a plan to relocate the Fair to the Archer Center - the former site of the University of Wyoming Agricultural Farm. The process included developing a site masterplan with Norris Designs of Denver, Colorado. In the masterplan process, farm buildings left over from the University’s farm operations were repurposed to fulfill the needs of the fair. A 110,000 square foot multi-purpose building was a natural fit for the site and

Teamed with HH-Architects of Raleigh, North Carolina, PCD has Master Plan assignments that include the primary responsibilities for integrating safe and efficient flow of livestock, participants and spectators around the site and within and among the buildings. PCD is providing direction regarding cost effective and functional building design so that the County can realize the best value from the funds available for the project. With the owner’s request for two covered arenas arena and stall barns, development of a functional plan on the chosen site has been challenging. Open forum comments from the Ag Center committee members have been instrumental in helping create what is sure to be a great asset to the Asheboro community.

Childress Event Center Childress, Texas
The Childress Event Center is really starting to gain traction in the industry. PDC began working with the Childress Economic Development Corporation in 2010 to develop a vision to provide a regional event center. Construction was completed in 2016 and the facility is living up to its potential by offering a venue for youth rodeos, the Old Settlers’ Rodeo, livestock shows, weddings, school events, dances and concerts to the locals while impacting the local economy by bringing outside visitors to the area.
Bell County Expo - Belton, Texas PCD teamed with Hahnfeld Hoffer Stanford Architects of Fort Worth, TX to design new facilities for the Bell County Expo in Belton, TX. Creating new venues for rodeo, livestock and equestrian events required performance and warm-up arenas, holding pens, additional horse stalls and careful planning to insure smooth, safe flow of participants, livestock and spectators alike. In this and many other livestock related venues, PCD combined its experience in building design with resources and experience from the equipment division of their parent company, Priefert Manufacturing, to ensure maximum value by while controlling costs. Installation of Priefert horse stalls and arenas was recently completed with ribbon cutting scheduled for July 27th.
Expo Center of Taylor County
Phase 1 of Taylor County’s $55 million upgrade is now under construction and includes over 230,000 square feet under roof. Phase 2 of the project is currently in design. PCD and Abilene’s Parkhill Smith & Cooper Architects are collaborating to ultimately create a venue with livestock barn and capability for up to 3 competition arenas, 1000 horse stalls and 500 RV spots. Phase 2 of the project will provide a new multi-purpose arena with seating for over 5,000. When completed, this venue will be one of the premier locations in the country for livestock, horse shows, rodeos and more.
“We recommend PCD to everyone thinking of livestock and equestrian facilities.” Rochelle Johnson, General Manager Taylor County Expo Priefert Complex Designs | 2630 South Jefferson • Mt. Pleasant, TX 75455 | 800-527-8616

Tulsa Fairgrounds - Tulsa, Oklahoma In April, officials at the Tulsa Fairgrounds issued their approval of a 10’ X 10’ prototype horse stall. Priefert’s “Slide & Glide” concept has proven to be a labor and time saving asset to facilities seeking to shorten the turn-around time for accommodating horses as different classes or breeds come and go. Man-hours required for cleanout are drastically reduced using these stalls which were designed by the team at Priefert and Lead Draftsman & Designer for PCD Wade Clark. Delivery of the 400 stalls is scheduled for this summer.

Priefert will be delivering and installing an extensive amount of livestock handling equipment in June for the new $48 million Ag Science Complex on the WTAMU Canyon, TX campus. With over 140,000 square feet under roof, the complex will contain a 500 seat multi-purpose arena, the Pielhl-Schaeffer Pavilion and a state-of-the-art meat lab designed to heighten the learning experience of students. The need to plan ahead is always on our mind and we continue to rely on personal referrals for the vast majority of our work. Expo centers, fairgrounds, rodeo arenas, stall barns and virtually any livestock related facilities continue to benefit most from the insight PCD and Priefert Rodeo & Ranch Equipment offer to our customers.
