"I cannot express enough how much I love my page in The Wedded Bliss. Your staff was friendly and great to work with on creating the perfect layout. Being featured in The Wedded Bliss magazine brightened my day almost as much as my wedding day did. I have always admired looking at all of the beautiful brides in the magazine over the years and dreaming of the day I would have my wedding published. Trey and I are honored to be presented in The Wedded Bliss and will cherish this keepsake moment for the rest of our lives. Also, our wedding announcement in The Wedded Bliss was a great way for our loved ones that were unable to attend our wedding to still feel like they were a part of our wedding day. They too also have a copy of The Wedded Bliss with our announcement to treasure with us. Thank you for sharing our special moment."

Vendor Highlights MURPHEY THE JEWELER BY CASSANDRA KEY
Arch Murphey opened Murphey the Jeweler in downtown Tyler in 1850. As one of the oldest retail establishments in East Texas, Murphey the Jeweler has played an important role in Tyler's retail history. Not only is it the oldest jewelry store in Texas, but the third oldest in the United States. This family operated business has always offered selections of American and Swiss watches, clocks, diamonds, estate jewelry, and one-of-a-kind pieces that are as unique as the customer who buys them.

This includes the beautiful and ever-changing selection of estate jewelry and the unique pieces that the customers help design. “Since we love to design jewelry, especially for our customers, we do not carry many designer jewelry lines. We prefer to make one-of-a-kind pieces that thousands of other people will not also be wearing. We believe jewelry should be unique and a reflection of the individual who wears it.”

SUMMER BEAUTY TIPS FOR THE BRIDE-TO-BE
| THE WEDDED BLISS MAY-JUNE 2018
BY CASSANDRA KEY
Summer may bring the two H’s (heat and humidity), but that doesn’t mean you have to stay inside to look beautiful. In fact, there’s a wealth of summer beauty tricks that’ll keep you looking and feeling like a mermaid in sparkling ocean water. Lip Balm Ditch the Chapstick and smooth on a bit of coconut oil for a longlasting moisture effect.
Facial Scrub Just mix a bit of coconut oil with sea salt for a homemade exfoliate that leaves skin feeling fresh and

clean. Plus, it smells amazing!
Beauty Tip #1: Coconut Oil No doubt you’ve heard about the miracles of coconut oil by now. Island dwellers call this magical fruit the fruit of life because it has so many incredible uses. Use it as:
Moisturizer Coconut oil contains SPF and nutrients like vitamin E, which helps even out skin tone and blemishes. It also has anti-aging properties and helps fight bacteria. Perfect for dabbing on dry patches of skin and as an after-sun soother. The oil absorbs quickly, so don’t worry if it feels greasy at first.
Conditioner If you have dry hair or just need a refresher after all those afternoons in the pool, rub coconut oil through your strands and use as a leave-in conditioner or give it a rinse. You can also apply it to the tips of hair as a split end remedy.
Beauty Tip #2: Sea Salt Spray Who doesn’t love those textured waves you get when you’ve spent all day in the surf and sand? Recreate those mermaid locks with this simple sea salt spray recipe courtesy of Free People:
1 cup warm water 1 tablespoon natural sea salt 2 teaspoons organic coconut oil 2 teaspoons aloe vera gel (straight from the plant, if possible) 5-10 drops essential oil of your choice DIRECTIONS: Combine all ingredients in an empty bottle, shake well, voila! Spritz onto damp hair, scrunch, and let air dry.
Beauty Tip #3: Lemon Highlighter Did you know that lemons can help you get those coveted hair highlights at a fraction of the cost? Just mix lemon juice with a bit of water and spritz onto your hair before going out into the sun. Then, pull up a lounge chair and your favorite beach read and let the sunlight kiss your tresses! Lemons are also great for dandruff, but don’t overdo it, as it can also lead to dryness.
Beauty Tip #4: Rice Water Have you ever wondered how Asian women keep their youthful glow? One of their secrets lies in the power of rice. Yep, rice water is a super gentle skin cleanser and contains vitamins like B1, C, and E and can help tighten pores and brighten skin. Here’s how to do it: First, rinse 1 cup of rice with water about four times to remove excess dirt, then place rice in a bowl, cover with water, and let sit for 15 minutes. After the 15 minutes are up, drain the rice and let the water accumulate into a clean bowl. To use as a facial cleanser, simply splash the water over your face and massage into the skin for about a minute. Store the remaining water in an air-tight container in the refrigerator for up to five days.

HOW TO KEEP KIDS ENTERTAINED AT YOUR WEDDING BY CASSANDRA KEY
For many couples, one of the biggest questions they ask themselves during writing the guest list is whether or not to invite kids to the wedding. On the one hand, they’re an extension of family and friends. On the other, they’re kids and kids tend to get bored and fussy. If you decide to invite the little ones to your big celebration, you’ll want to keep them just as happy and entertained as the other guests. Here are some ideas on how to keep the kiddos engaged and entertained during your wedding. (P.S. Your other guests will thank you for it!) 1. Include Them in the Wedding Activities. Kids love being part of the action and helping out the grown ups (it makes them feel grown up too!). Help them feel important by giving them a “job” like handing out programs or helping guests to their seats. You could even do something fun like give each kid an “official press pass” for them to wear and a disposable camera to take pictures with. Tell them they’re wedding photographers and let them have fun. 2. Kids Table. Setting up a special kids table (or several) will work wonders for keeping the little ones entertained –
especially during “boring” speech times. Include table games like coloring pages, puzzles, and activity books and make sure they have plenty of markers/crayons/pencils/etc. to get artsy with. 3. Goodie Bags. Fill up goodie bags for each child and place them at their seats to keep them entertained during the reception. You can include things like snacks, puzzles, small toys, bubbles, crayons, and activity books. 4. Games & Crafts. If the weather’s nice, set up a few outdoor games and activities like Twister, hula hoop, and Jenga. If you want to keep the activities inside, try a craft table and let the young guests create some wedding-themed crafts like making cards or DIY masks for a special kids only photo booth. 5. Kids Cave. Want to have a single space where all the kids can go and have fun? How about a kids cave? Fill it with beanbags, pillows, tables, and activities all ages can enjoy. 6. Movie Room. What better way to help the kids wind down at the end of the day than with a movie room? Add pillows and cushions for the little ones to relax on, hand out mini bags of popcorn, and pop in the movie.
eat, drink, and be married.

HOW TO CREATE A WEDDING HASHTAG
| THE WEDDED BLISS MAY-JUNE 2018
BY CASSANDRA KEY
26
With the majority of couples using social media during their wedding festivities, it’s no wonder a plethora of hashtag generators has popped up all over the web. Couples who want their guests to snap photos and share to Twitter, Facebook, and Instagram love the hashtag for its ability to place all their big day photos in one place. All they have to do is type in the hashtag and voila! Every photo, tweet, and update is at their fingertips. If you fall into this group and want to go social with your wedding, creating a hashtag can be a fun way to get your guests engaged while also creating an organization system for all the wedding-day photos your photographer might not capture. Here are some tips on how to create a wedding hashtag that’s both unique and easy to use. 1. Use a Free Wedding Hashtag Generator It may be the “easy” way out, but it works! If you’re strapped for time or just want some ideas, use one of the many hashtag generators that are available for free. Storymix Media has a generator that creates and checks for existing hashtags. 2. Use Your Names Obvious or not, using you and your fiance’s first, last, or nicknames is an easy way to create a hashtag that’s personal. Plus, using your names will make it easy for the guests to remember, which will lead to more uses.
3. Add a Date Including your wedding date numbers can further personalize your hashtag and make it more unique, which means it will be less likely to already be taken. 4. Make it Short and Sweet The longer and more complicated your wedding hashtag is, the more likely guests will get it wrong, if they even use it. Try and keep it short, sweet, and to the point. 5. Capitalize the First Letters Have you ever seen a hashtag that had all lowercase letters and it took forever to figure out what it actually said? Steer clear from such complications by capitalizing the first letter of each word. For example, instead of using danandjennyforever, use DanAndJennyForever. 6. Make it Official Spread the word about your wedding hashtag by telling your bridal party and groomsmen. You should also put it on your save-the-dates, wedding website, and on a sign at the wedding to remind guests. 7. Have Fun Most of all, have fun when creating your hashtag and don’t overthink it. If something comes to mind right away, say it out loud, write it out; it probably came to you so quickly for a reason. If you’re having trouble thinking of a unique hashtag, use Pinterest to see what other couples have come up with for inspiration. Think about how your names can fit together and words that represent marriage. Put it all together, play with it, and have fun!

WEDDING REGISTRY GIFT IDEAS |  THE WEDDED BLISS  MAY-JUNE 2018
BY BELINDA MILES
30
When our parents were married their wedding gifts were pretty standard. There were things like pots, pans, stemware and towels. General household items for couples looking forward to living together for the first time. Today's married couples have a more practical need. More couples are living together before they tie the knot. They tend to have most of the necessity items and getting busy planning a wedding leaves little time to setup a registry. So if you are heading to a wedding soon and you are looking for that one unique gift idea, or you have no idea what to buy because there is no registry, here are a few ideas that may help you find the perfect gift. 1. Monetary Donation
It seems less personal to receive money but it is definitely more practical. Buying something from a registry can cause the couple to get more than one of the exact same item. Saves time from having to return multiple gifts to one store. 2. Matching Couple Pajamas What a hit for the bride and groom! The perfect set of pajamas or "His" and "Hers" soft and comfy robes. The bride will be happy to have something bridal related that was not white or lingerie. They are the perfect gift for the couple who love to cuddle on the couch in front of the fireplace! 3. Linens or Throw Blanket Even for couples who have all the basics, chances are they have not bought new linens in a while. This will be the perfect opportunity to get a throw blanket to accent their bed or some high quality, stylish and comfortable bed linens that they would love. 4. Gift Cards
If they already live together a monetary gift would allow

HOW TO MAKE YOUR WEDDING DAY EVEN MORE SPECIAL BY CASSANDRA KEY
Spend Quality Time With Your Fiance BEFORE the Wedding Day Sure, you spend most of your days with your significant other, but how much of that time is quality? Even if you do set aside a special date night or something similar, spend the precious moments before your wedding day with your fiance. Maybe that means relaxing together at a spa, having a picnic, or just spending time canoodling on the couch. The point is to take a moment together to just “be” because the wedding day will go by so fast and you’ll hardly have time to hold hands and whisper “I love you.” Write Your Own Vows | THE WEDDED BLISS MAY-JUNE 2018

We all know in our heart of hearts that a wedding is a symbolic expression of love and union. As a newly-engaged lady you might be ready to start planning right away, especially if you’ve been dreaming about this day for as long as you can remember. But hold up. Before you get up to your eyelashes in venues, dresses, and cake flavors, take a moment to consider what this time between engagement and marriage means to you. This is a wonderful moment in your life and it should be cherished just as much as your wedding day. Plus, not rushing into the planning phase and trying to get things done as soon as possible will take out a lot of undue stress and possible mistakes. So let’s talk about how you can enjoy your engagement to its fullest. Here are a few tips: 1. Start Slow. Don’t feel like you have to start securing dates and making “Will you be my bridesmaid?” cards right after he slips the ring on your finger. Enjoy what just happened and ease into wedding planning. You don’t want to feel overwhelmed from the get-go.
Trust me, you’ll love looking through it many years after you’ve been married. 3. Enjoy the Anticipation. One of the greatest things about an engagement period is the anticipation it creates. You’re excited, your fiance is excited, family and friends are excited. Having something to look forward to can give you a major happiness boost, so don’t rush it! Let that anticipation for the big day fuel your dreams and give you butterflies in your stomach. The wedding day will be over in the blink of an eye, so don’t race to get there. Take a leisurely walk through your engagement and enjoy the scenery.

Yes, the summer months are always a popular time of year to tie the knot. Not only is the weather less inclined to flip on you, it’s also a time for vacations, which makes it much easier for guests to RSVP a yes. If you’re planning a summer wedding, there are five things that are truly essential for creating the best warmweather wedding possible.

Summer! CHARLOTTETAYLORCREATES.COM
BY CHARLOTTE TAYLOR | PHOTOGRAPHY BY LAUREN LABOYTEAUX
Summer is finally in our sight. Gardens are in full swing and weddings are popping up left and right. It’s time for some simple summer livin’. More time spent outdoors and less time in
the kitchen. We’re gonna start with a classic, summery, longtime favorite, chicken salad. Now, if you’re panicking because you saw grapes and mayo together, stick around, your taste buds will be glad you did. This is not just any chicken salad, it’s a three decade old recipe. The very same chicken salad that we served at The Tuttle House Tea Room back in the 1980’s (raise your hand if you ever had lunch there!). We found this recipe in a ‘hot off the press’ ~ Southern Living cookbook (circa 1984). What a decade that was!
Who knew that putting
grapes into mayonnaise could be this delicious! Serve this southern chicken salad on a croissant, with a side of potato chips or your favorite cup of soup. So fresh, hearty and dainty all at the same time. WHAT YOU'LL NEED: Chicken Salad
·
Red Seedless Grapes – most of an average size bag, sliced
·
Celery – half of a bunch (ends and tops removed), diced
·
Chicken – about 3-4 pounds, cooked and diced
·
Miracle Whip – about 2 cups
·
Nuts – about 1 cup, preferably pecans, chopped
WHAT TO DO: 1. First of all, for a good chicken salad, make sure your chicken has some flavor. Whether you boil your own or buy a rotisserie version, flavor will make or break the deal. Next, if you are one that can only cook by measuring exactly and following precise instructions, then this my friend, will be a stretch for you. Hang in there! 2. You can certainly increase or decrease this

recipe easily to your liking. If you only need chicken salad for one or two? Chop up just the amount of chicken you will need and go from there. Add in as much celery and grapes as you’d like. Want less crunch? Go easy on the celery. Pull it all together with miracle whip. That’s why this recipe isn’t really measured. It’s fool proof and
very flexible. Let loose in the kitchen and don’t be scared. 3. Now, where were we? Grab a good size bowl and combine the diced chicken, diced celery, nuts, and the millions of grapes you sliced one by one. Mix in the miracle whip and stir well to combine. You’ll need less if using a rotisserie chicken, but if you cooked your own, the chicken will absorb more. The quantities above fed a family of six with a couple of leftover servings. Plan your batch accordingly. Disclaimer: The nuts, as always, are optional, but the original Southern Living recipe called for cashews. My absolute favorite thing ever. Unless you eat this salad fairly quickly, the cashews become In the meantime, roll up your basil leaves
