Most of you are aware of LeMans Corporation’s NVP Product Expos, the semi-annual conventions exclusively for Drag Specialties, Parts Unlimited and Parts Canada sales reps, vendors and dealers. Having attended this year’s fall event in Milwaukee made me think back to how the conventions originally known as the National Vendor Presentation meeting (NVP) got started.
Way back in the early 1990s, LeMans used to invite a number of their top vendors in for meetings at the Ramada Inn in Janesville. The primary purpose was for LeMans buyers to get part numbers, pricing and final details of the products they would be carrying in the new year.
In 1995, the late Jet Johnson, the VP of Sales and Marketing, got the okay from Fred Fox to bring the Drag Specialties and Parts Unlimited sales team in for a first-ever national sales meeting and a chance for the reps to see the new products as well. Thus began the National Vendor Presentation conventions, which were held at the Holiday Inn Express in Janesville.
Eventually, the NVP outgrew the capacity at the Holiday Inn Express and the whole event moved about an hour north to Madison, where in 2000, not only did LeMans’ buyers and sales reps get to see the new products, but Drag Specialties, Parts Unlimited and Parts Canada dealers were also invited to attend. To fit in all the needed meetings and presentations, as it is today, the event started with a few dedicated days for the sales rep presentations, followed by a two-day dealer show.
The NVP continued to grow every year and a few years back was renamed the NVP Product Expo. In 2017, it was decided to expand from one NVP a year to two: one in the Spring and one in the Fall. That brings us to today and how things run now, with the exception this year of the move to a larger facility for the Fall event, which was just held at the Baird Center in downtown Milwaukee. Be sure to check out the full NVP Product Expo report starting on page 34.
And lastly, the Spring 2025 NVP Product Expo is just around the corner and we will be back in Louisville, Kentucky on January 24-26. We’ll be looking for you there. ■

NEWS EVENTS AND Unprecedented: Mees Completes Bid for History at 2024 Progressive AFT Finale
Drag Specialties/Parts Unlimited Indian rider Jared
Mees put the finishing touches on what may prove the final and most convincing argument in support of his claim as the greatest rider in the history of Progressive American Flat Track, sanctioned by AMA Pro Racing – an unprecedented 10th Grand National Championship.
Mees did exactly what he needed to – and then some – at Lake Ozark Speedway in September to secure this crowning achievement as the 2024 season came to its conclusion with the inaugural running of the Parts Plus Lake Ozark Short Track.
Racing before a packed house with some 125,000 motorcycle enthusiasts flooding the area for the 18th Annual Lake of the Ozarks Bikefest, the Mission AFT SuperTwins Main Event was loaded with talented riders motivated to end their respective 2024 campaigns on a high note.
Mees finished the season – and potentially his career – on top in practically every sense, winning the season finale by 0.423 seconds over Dallas Daniels, who finished second.
Mees’ résumé is extensive, but in brief, that night’s championship triumph updated his Grand National Championship victory tally to now include 2009, 2012, 2014, 2015, 2017, 2018, 2021, 2022, 2023, and 2024. He also ranks first or second in the career wins rankings for Half-Miles, Short Tracks, Miles, and total GNC Main Event victories.
Mees joined forces with Indian Motorcycle in 2017, and quickly elevated the profile of the marque’s remarkable FTR750. The 2024 season is the last for the FTR750, which is now ineligible to race because of an AFT rule change. Mees’ championship secures the bike a perfect eight-for-eight record in Grand National Championship battles.
In the end, Mees earned the 2024 Mission AFT SuperTwins title with 311 points. “It was a goal. Everybody would say it was a dream, but it was a goal,” said Mees. “I made my dream my goal and worked hard at it. It hasn’t even sunk in yet. I had a big points lead coming in here, but there was only one way to go out the way I want to go out, and that was by winning this damn race.” ■

Jerry Covington: 1955-2024
As a respected custom builder, Jerry Covington was a well-known figure in both the custom motorcycle and automobile worlds. If it had two wheels or four, Jerry and his crew were involved in making it custom.
As the owner of Covington’s Customs, a company he founded in 1993, Jerry was a longtime associate of Drag Specialties, with a vast range of his products available within the pages of the FatBook and the OldBook. Jerry, a resident of Woodward, Oklahoma, passed away on October 9th at the age of 69.
Jerry was born on February 15, 1955, in Cleburne, Texas. His father worked for the railroad and moved the family to Southern California when Jerry was six. In 1980 he moved to Woodward and worked as a mechanic at Northwest Ford and Irwin Chevrolet before opening his own shop, Ultimate Hot Rods. He loved spending time with his wife, Kathleen, his children and grandchildren. He enjoyed working on his hot rods and going to car shows with friends.
Jerry became well known in the custom motorcycle industry for his clean designs and high-quality custom motorcycles. He appeared in numerous television shows including the Discovery Channel’s Biker Build-Off series, Carlos Mencia’s Mind of Mencia, and Corbin’s Ride On.
“His company was very well known and well respected in both the motorcycle industry as well as the automotive circles,” noted Drag Specialties vendor relations expert Tom Motzko. “If it had a motor Jerry and crew were involved in customizing it. Not to mention that every custom bike or car those folks built was useable, meaning you could drive it cross country the day you picked it up!”
Motzko added that Jerry was simply a nice and easygoing man, who was very talented. “When I visited his shop a year or so ago, I was blown away at the many two- and four-wheeled projects going on. The entire office and showroom featured a thousand framed magazine articles and magazine covers of Covington’s lifetime of accomplishments. It was so impressive.”
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, and is survived by brothers Meredith Covington and Bob Covington, and sister Jean Ligon. He is also survived by his wife, Kathleen and four sons, Jerry Covington, Jr. (Pee Wee), David Covington, Dusty Brown, and Cameron Brown, and his daughter Tammy Covington. He had nine grandchildren: Aubrey, Brek, Waylon, Anna, Chloe, Mason, Sophie, Scarlet and Lawless, and two bonus grands Taylor and Journye.
“Jerry will be terribly missed by our entire industry,” Motzko said. “We’re thinking many good thoughts for not only Jerry, but the family as well.” ■
» We at Drag Specialties Magazine extend our condolences to the entire Covington family.

Progressive AFT Achieves Record-Breaking 2024 Season
SERIES DREW MORE THAN 3.6 MILLION VIEWERS ACROSS PLATFORMS
Progressive American Flat Track confirmed another season of record-breaking viewership across platforms. The season tallied up total viewership of greater than 3.6 million across broadcast, livestream, and social media – an increase of over 41 percent on a per-race basis – while earning its highest single-race ratings for the series to date on FS1. Drag Specialties and Parts Unlimited are sponsors of the AFT series.
The 2024 season delivered continued impressive performance in the series’ multiyear partnership with FOX Sports, with Progressive AFT featured on a combined 100 linear television hours for race broadcasts on FOX, FS1, and FS2, while attracting over 430,000 viewers for a single race broadcast.
Meanwhile, the all-new partnership with FloSports proved a resounding success. Livestreaming viewership was up over 37 percent following the switch while helping to attract a new generation of fans, with 54 percent of all digital viewers between 18 and 49 years old.
“We’re thrilled by the incredible fan growth and record-breaking viewership this season,” said Gene Crouch, CEO of Progressive American Flat Track. “With a breakout year in our FloSports partnership and another record-breaking year with FOX Sports, the energy from fans, riders, and partners has been outstanding, and we can’t wait to continue this momentum into 2025.”
The overall ratings success puts Progressive AFT in a position of strength as it prepares for what promises to be a fascinating 2025 season in which the world’s greatest motorcycle dirt trackers will clash for Mees’ vacated throne. Stay tuned for an announcement of the 2025 series slate in the near future. ■
VIEWERSHIP TOTALS FOR
METZELER CRUISETEC
Upgrade Your Ride with the Metzeler Cruisetec, the ultimate V-Twin tire engineered for unparalleled performance. Whether cruising through winding roads or navigating city streets, the Cruisetec’s dualcompound rubber and advanced carcass construction ensure maximum grip and stability in all conditions. Elevate your riding experience and confidently conquer the road, knowing that the Metzeler Cruisetec has your back. Available from Drag Specialties dealers nationwide.
Compromise isn’t something riders like to do, but there can be a lot of give-and-take in the V-Twin world. You might have a great-looking show bike that doesn’t handle so well, or a performance bike that will never win a bike show.
Bassani Xhaust doesn’t like compromise, either. As Bassani Marketing and Sales Manager Gary Naito says, “Today’s riders want it all: looks, sound, performance. Luckily, Bassani is known for power, performance, quality and a sound riders love.”
Since its founding in 1969 by industry icon Darryl Bassani, the Bassani Xhaust brand has taken that no-compromise approach. While the Bassani team certainly keeps an eye out for the latest trends in the V-Twin world, it’s safe to say that Bassani Xhaust is often responsible for those trends when it comes to exhausts.
One of the current exhaust trends is a stainless-steel finish. While that might feel like a bit of an old-school choice, Gary is quick to note that stainless is a way to put quality craftsmanship front and center. “Riders love the new look with hand TIG welding and the color-turning of the heat on the stainless,” he says. “It’s also a lot more durable to the elements.”
The Harley-Davidson M8 Softail on the cover of this issue features one of those stainless Bassani exhausts. The bike by Hulten Speed Sports has a Bassani Stainless 2:1 Ripper System *(EMIS Code 3), which fits M8 Softail and Bagger models as well as Twin Cam Dynas and Baggers.
Bassani offers its Stainless 2:1 line in different lengths, so riders can get the right look for their bike as well as the sound they’re looking for. The short Ripper style is a 1-piece design, and it produces a louder sound, which is great news for riders who want to boost the sound of the M8 engine. Another popular seller right now is the M8 Super Bike 2:1 System *(EMIS Code 3), as well as any Bassani styles that fit the Low Rider ST.
With a lot of riders putting their bikes in the garage and waiting for spring, this is a great time of year to make upgrades, including swapping the stock exhaust for one of these Bassani systems. That way, when spring finally arrives, riders are ready to hit the streets with more style, sound and horsepower than before.
Dealers will be able to check out these products at NVP Louisville, where Bassani will be showing off its Americanmade exhausts crafted from quality US steel. These exhausts

Sound and Style
THE COMPANY THAT DARRYL BUILT
are designed to last, with thoughtful touches like tapered head pipes for better fitment, a removable end cap and baffle for easy maintenance, plus a modular design that allows one component to be replaced rather than the entire exhaust.
Product is important, of course, but so is community. “I threw parties here at the shop to open the doors and show our facility to all, and to let the world know we made it in Anaheim, USA!” Gary says. “This was all to build a relationship with the community, and not for immediate profit, as we do not sell direct. I wanted our brand to be more than just pipes. I wanted to sell a lifestyle, not a product.”
That lifestyle is on full display at every Bassani-hosted event as well as all over social media. Darryl was a big proponent of sponsoring riders, including racers and stunt riders. In
addition to sponsoring riders who were traveling to shows and performing for crowds, the company also began to sponsor young freestyle riders on Harleys who were finding their audience through social media.
“The combination of the two made young talented people Instagram-famous and, with it, our brand, too,” Gary notes.
With Darryl’s passing in February, the Bassani team is more committed than ever to continuing to build that relationship with fans and customers. “Darryl loved it,” Gary says of the Bassani community. “After he passed, I thought it only fitting to throw a ride for him in his honor.”
That ride was a fun day out for a group of stunt riders, who took to the streets to honor Darryl in the best way they knew how. It was risky but worth it, and Gary sums it up with, “I know Darryl was watching us and happy. He loved the stunt riding.”
In the near future, dealers and riders alike can expect to see more of Bassani at events, following an outstanding Sturgis this year. Not only will Bassani have a big presence at Sturgis again next year—selling exhausts, then getting them mounted right away by J&P Cycles—but plans for Daytona Bike Week are underway, too.
Another thing dealers can expect to see next year is a growing trend with the Black Chrome finish for Bassani exhausts. And, as always, continued new fitments to make sure every rider can get that Bassani look, sound and performance. ■

Sturgis 2024 was a big year for Bassani, which plans to follow up next year with an equally as impressive presence. The company also has plans for Daytona Bike Week in the works.

That Bassani 2:1 short Ripper System (*EMIS Code 3) looks at good as it sounds, and adds a nice helping of performance for M8 Softails and Baggers, as well as Twin Cam Dyna and Bagger models.
Custom Comfort Seat Styles Made to Order
Heasier than ever thanks to the Drag Specialties Custom Seat Program. The seat is one of the most conspicuous parts on a motorcycle, and the right seat can bring together a bike’s look in a big way.
The Drag Specialties Custom Seat Program allows a rider to customize a seat, backrest or tour box pad, all in a way that is easy and affordable to do.
After choosing the model of seat to customize, the next step is to pick a stitch pattern. There are eight to choose from, ranging from the simple Perimeter Top Stitch to bolder designs like the Scorpion or Flame Stitch.
The style is only the first choice to be made when it comes to the stitching, since there are eight different thread colors available. Standard options like black thread on a black seat keep things low-key, but colors that coordinate with a bike’s paint scheme can be chosen, too, such as blue, orange or green.
There are plenty of choices for which seat covering to order: Drag Specialties Seats has 16 options in the custom seat program. In addition to various colors, there are also
textures like faux gator and faux python. The unique Slip Stop material is great for riders who want extra grip in the seat, and Drag’s exclusive Solar Reflective Leather will help keep a seat from getting too hot, even on those summer rides.
Not only is it easy to order a custom seat, but the wait time to receive it is short. Once the order form for a custom seat has been filled out and submitted to Drag Specialties, it typically only takes 2 weeks before the seat is completed and shipped out.
Drag Seats makes it easier to pick the thread color and seat cover with a swatch book (p/n 9903-0535), so riders can see and touch the materials before making a decision.
Another great way to help customers explore their options is with a Drag Specialties Seats four-way dealer seat display. The base of the display is a 36-inch square, so it doesn’t take up much floor space. The impressive 79-inch height and distinctive header sign make it easy to spot, though, so customers can’t miss it. Thanks to the adjustable hooks on the seat display, it’s easy to show off four different seat styles of any variety.
By allowing customers to get an up-close, hands-on look at a variety of Drag Specialties seats, they can check out the handmade quality for themselves. Drag has been manufacturing its seats since the 1970s at its headquarters in Rogers, Minn., making the seats as much of an American classic as the bikes they are built for.
Dealers who order four Drag Specialties seats are eligible to get the seat display for free. ■

Drag Specialties' Custom Seat Program offers your customers a convenient way to personalize a seat, backrest or tour box pad to match their style. Drag even offers a swatch book, so customers can see and touch the materials before making their order.
Clutch Components for Older Bikes Retro Replacements
Keeping an old V-Twin up and running, or doing a restoration on one that needs a little love, usually requires a big time commitment. There is no point wasting hours of time trying to chase down parts for the job, when that’s time that could be spent in the garage, building the bike.
Drag Specialties knows the challenges of maintaining old bikes and finding replacement parts for them, which is why the company offers such a broad range of products for older Harley-Davidson models. And when it comes to clutches, Drag Specialties has a full selection of parts for vintage and older Harleys. A quick look in the OldBook shows just how easy it is to keep the clutch on an older bike running smoothly.
There is an especially wide selection of clutch plates and kits available from Drag Specialties. These clutch plates are offered in three different materials, including organic, aramid fiber and steel. Organic clutch plates are a direct replacement for the OEM plates, while the aramid fiber and steel plates are both great choices for riders who want even more durability.
All of the Drag Specialties clutch plate kits are designed to give a bike smooth, precise shifting and consistent behavior even in the high heat conditions encountered in older Harleys. And, like many Drag Specialties products, the clutch plates are all made in the USA.
Drag also has two types of pressure plates available, and there are fitments for Big Twins dating all the way back to 1941. The standard pressure plate is made of stamped steel and works with five-stud clutch hubs. Riders can also opt for a high-performance pressure plate, which is made from a highly polished aluminum that will not warp or flex.
Outer drive plates for XL models include both aramid fiber and organic options, and there are plenty of other clutch components to be found, too. Clutch hubs that come complete with the hub, liner, rollers, adjusting nuts and pressure plate are in the OldBook, as are items like diaphragm springs and even replacement rivets for clutch hub linings.
When it comes to maintaining an older Harley-Davidson, the Drag Specialties OldBook is an essential source for a full selection of clutch parts for a wide range of models.
In other words, anyone looking for a kit or an individual part for a clutch on an older Harley is likely to find what they need. And, as expected, Drag Specialties also has a full lineup of clutch components for newer bikes, and you can find all of those in the FatBook. ■

Leveling Up Performance
Products in Eye-Catching Packages
When it comes time to replace parts on a VTwin, Drag Specialties makes it easy to find high-quality components by simply looking for a single word – Premium. Drag Premium products are reliable aftermarket options for riders, providing performance and longevity at an attractive price point.
These Drag Premium products are easy to spot thanks to their special packaging. Designed to do a lot more than just hold a part, Drag Premium packaging is also meant to look great on the shelf and provide customers with easy-to-read information. The clean styling of the packaging means a display of even those everyday replacement parts (think brake pads, oil, batteries and similar items) will look professional and attractive.
Good-looking packaging is nice, but it’s what’s inside that really counts. Products like Drag Premium shocks are a step up from OEM quality, giving customers a true performance advantage.
Drag Specialties Premium ride-height adjustable shocks and 10½-inch shocks feature a fit and finish that elevate a motorcycle’s style and performance. Features like dual-rate
progressive wound springs and adjustable spring preload add to the premium aspect, and heavy-duty options for the adjustable shocks means bikes of all sizes can benefit. They might be small, but voltage regulators play a big part on a bike, and the Drag Premium regulators are tested three times throughout the assembly process –which is done in the USA – to ensure the final product is high-quality and reliable. The regulators are designed to offer superior internal heat management, too.
Drag Premium synthetic and synthetic-blend oils include options like DS3 Premium Full Synthetic 20W-50 motorcycle oil. This versatile V-Twin oil can be used in the engine, transmission and primary cavities of Harley-Davidsons. Special additives result in an oil with exceptional viscosity and stability, and the synthetic base is ideal for the hightemperature environments of Harley engines. Engines will last longer, have less sludge buildup and seal efficiently with this high-performance oil.
When it’s time to replace a bike’s battery, Drag Premium performance batteries provide more power than a standard battery thanks to AGM battery technology. These batteries can deliver high currents on demand, which makes an AGM battery a great choice for both stock and customized bikes. AGM batteries are also lighter than lead acid batteries, and they hold a charge for up to three times longer.
Another way to upgrade stock components is to install a set of Drag Premium brake pads. These sintered-metal pads are specifically designed for Harleys, and in addition to being more durable than stock pads, they also eliminate brake fade. There’s no brake dust, either, so the brake and wheel components stay cleaner. ■

Drag Specialties Premium voltage regulators are tested three times during the assembly process, ensuring that the final product is high-quality and reliable.
For those customers looking to upgrade their suspension from the OE parts, Drag Specialties Premium shocks give them a true performance and style advantage.
That Drag Specialties Premium packaging is just as impressive as the products it holds. Drag’s Premium brake pads are a high-quality upgrade that improve stopping performance.

IT’S A RIDING RALLY!
2024 FOUR CORNERS MOTORCYCLE RALLY
Most motorcyclists have a list of favorite rallies they attend or roads they ride. Some are chosen from habit or nostalgia, while others stand out for their technical challenges or scenic beauty. Among the most avid and experienced riders, the latter are known as “riding rallies.”
When certain riders talk about a “riding rally” they understand what it means in terms of the roads they’ll encounter and the smiles per mile they’ll enjoy, because some places are just that good. These

are the savvy riders who came to the Four Corners Motorcycle Rally (FCMR) August 29 – September 1, 2024, which happens in one of the most dramatically stunning and skill-demanding areas of the country for motorcyclists.
This rally has history, too, tracing its roots to 1992 when former Colorado Senator Ben Nighthorse Campbell and local V-Twin notable Mike Lovato showcased the area’s western history and native culture, while welcoming riders to this epic location. As it evolved, FCMR grew to incorporate several
locations in Durango, Ignacio and Silverton, sometimes encompassing the Sky Ute Casino, La Plata County Fairgrounds, area ski resorts and always, of course, Drag Specialties dealer Durango Harley-Davidson.
For several years now, FCMR has been owned and managed by Trevor and Catie Bird, owners of Durango Harley-Davidson, and Durango businessman Chip Lile. Their combined efforts have increased community acceptance of the rally, and raised awareness of the economic benefits of welcoming riders. “We’re just trying to do a little more every year, like adding the rodeo this time as a shout out to the legacy and heritage of the old west, and [by] putting motorcycle barrel racing in the rodeo breaks for fun,” Trevor Bird said.
Lile enthusiastically introduced me to the FCMR team who were seen smiling and making the machine run smoothly all weekend. Vendors and visitors offered opinions on the easy, comfortable ambience, which sets the stage for continued growth.
The 2024 running of the FCMR was concentrated to three locations – Durango Harley-Davidson, the Fairgrounds and Purgatory Ski Resort. The dealership was open and active with bikes for sale, merch inside and out, serving as headquarters for the Rider Justice $25,000 poker run, a daily

In addition to hosting bike shows by Biltwell, V-Twin Visionary and Iron Goddess, the fairgrounds also had vendors along with the Ives Brothers Wall of Death, Real Deal Revolution workshops with the remarkable Theresa Contreras, and the dynamic competition of Drifter Cross presented by Slyfox. When Biltwell was complimented for bringing out the cool kids, Otto Deutsch, their man on the scene said, “We’re not cool kids, we’re nerds who like riding motorcycles. You wanna be in our club? Ride your motorcycle.”
Tattoo artists were working onsite, along with a barber and beard stylist. There was plenty of live music on the fairgrounds stage to keep the vibe going all weekend, including motorcycle rally favorite musician Jasmine Cain on Friday night. The western rodeo in the fairgrounds arena on Friday night was followed by the Four Corners Flat Track
Races on Saturday, a zany exhibition of anything and everything on two wheels running in the dirt. It was flat-out fun!
As if to raise the bar on zany antics, Sunday featured the Four Corners Hillclimb Races at Purgatory Ski Resort, a challenging, rip-roaring display of motorcycles that had no business climbing hills, mixed with experts who took the hill commandingly. Competitors in the AMA-sanctioned Motoclimb Super Series showed up the amateurs as they navigated the moguls and mayhem under the resort’s chair lifts, all providing spectacular entertainment.
As befits a riding rally, organizers provided a guide to suggested routes, encouraging exploration. A favorite must-do is the properly named Million Dollar Highway, part of the San Juan Skyway with wide sweepers, remarkable vistas and no guard rails! Often called the most dangerous road in America, it runs between the mining towns of Silverton, with its unpaved main street and Victorian buildings, and Ouray, with its ghost towns, waterfalls and hiking trails.

About 35 miles past Cortez, there’s Mesa Verde National Park with its ancient Puebloan cliff dwellings to discover. For storybook, stellar riding, you simply can’t go wrong here.
For those less inclined to forge out solo, there were planned rides recognizing military and cultural causes. The Durango Veterans Run was on Friday and the Missing & Murdered Indigenous Relatives Ride was on Sunday. Both were powerful reminders of why we gather and why we ride in remembrance and respect.
Why attend the FCMR? Along with the Million Dollar Highway, Four Corners Monument and many miles of magnificent roads, there’s authentic western history and native American culture. And if awesome scenic riding is the magnet that attracts riders to the Four Corners, the rally’s variety of fun and fundamental events keeps them hanging out - and coming back, year after year. ■

Everyone in the LeMans Corporation universe knows that not only does Fall mean the countdown to the coming sales season, it also heralds the return of the North American NVP Product Expo.
The NVP is the event to attend to get a first look at all of the new parts, accessories and apparel that your customers will be clamoring for when the Spring riding season hits. It’s also the chance for dealers to meet face-to-face with their Drag Specialties, Parts Unlimited and Parts Canada sales reps and the new and existing Drag Specialties and Parts Unlimited vendors.
For 2024, the North American NVP Product Expo moved to new digs in Milwaukee to debut at the newly expanded Baird Center on September 7-8. By all accounts, the event exceeded expectations and broke new ground with its most extensive floor plan in history. With an impressive turnout of vendors and attendees, the expo highlighted the latest V-Twin, metric and bicycling innovations, thus solidifying its place in the lineup of must-attend events.
The expanded venue at the Baird Center offered an updated, more spacious layout, accommodating a record number of new and returning vendors. Attendees were treated to an impressive array of products, innovative technology, and hands-on demos, including an exciting lineup of E-Bike highlights.
One of the most popular attractions was the interactive E-Bike demo area, where guests experienced the latest E-Bike technology firsthand. Capping off the excitement was an E-bike credit giveaway, adding a valuable incentive for dealers looking to invest in this growing segment.
Prior to the kick-off of the show, Drag Specialties sales reps took part in two days of intensive product education with a huge range of key V-Twin vendors. Through multiple hands-on sessions, your reps received the kind of insider knowledge that will come in handy for your store’s staff of product professionals.
Just as the doors opened to the main show floor, dealers were also invited to attend exclusive product training with brand specialists from Custom Dynamics, Legends Suspensions, Saddlemen and S&S Cycle. At these seminars, dealers received the full scoop on a range of new and popular products.
A highlight of the weekend was the Saturday night Bike Show and Meet & Greet at The Mecca Sports Bar, located in Milwaukee’s vibrant Deer District. With enthusiasts gathering from across the region, the event featured a thrilling stunt show sponsored by ICON. Perfect weather added to the festive atmosphere, making it a memorable evening for attendees.
As always, the 2024 North American NVP Product Expo also served as the chance to network with longtime friends, catch up on industry news, get some in-person time with valued colleagues and generally immerse oneself in the LeMans Corporation universe. It’s the kind of opportunity that makes the NVP a top event on the industry calendar.
“This year’s expo set a new standard,” said Paul Devine, Vice President, Sales and Marketing. “The energy was unmatched, and the turnout and the variety of new vendors were incredible.”
Save the Date! The excitement continues in 2025, with the Louisville NVP Product Expo set to take place on January 25-26 in Louisville, Kentucky. Talk with your Drag Specialties sales rep for details on how to attend.

Herfoss Gets It Done
2024 MOTOAMERICA KING OF THE BAGGERS CHAMPIONSHIP
S&S Cycle/Indian Motorcycle’s Troy Herfoss and Harley-Davidson Factory Racing’s Kyle Wyman arrived at New Jersey Motorsports Park for the Mission King of the Baggers Championship finale separated by just two points after eight rounds and 16 races. After Saturday’s race one, the difference was still two points, but it had swayed from Wyman leading to Herfoss leading.
Fittingly, the two-man battle for the championship would go down to the 18th and final race of the season on Sunday in late September in Jersey. And, when all was said and done, it was MotoAmerica rookie Herfoss adding to a resume that includes three Australian Superbike Championships.
Brian J. Nelson photos
Herfoss rode the race of a champion. He passed Wyman on the opening lap of race two and then, well, he just rode away at a pace Wyman or anyone else couldn’t match. Saturday’s victory went to impressive class rookie Rocco Landers on the RevZilla/Motul/Vance & Hines Harley-Davidson with Herfoss second and Wyman third, but on Sunday there was no one capable of matching the flying Aussie.
Wyman’s pained and disappointed face said it all post-race as he had a standout season, yet came up just 11 points short. There’s a lot of respect between the two rivals, and that was also clear on Sunday as two relieved motorcycle racers embraced and said all the right things about each other. And why wouldn’t they?
There were 18 Mission King of the Baggers races in 2024, and the pairing of Herfoss and Wyman won 13 of them. Between them, they earned 29 podium finishes. Quite simply, those two dominated as they ping-ponged the points lead back and forth throughout the season – two heavyweight rivals racing big V-Twin motorcycles made by two motorcycle manufacturers with a rivalry like no other.
This was more than just Herfoss vs. Wyman, or Wyman vs. Herfoss. This was Harley vs. Indian, Indian vs. Harley. It is truly an age-old rivalry like no other in motorcycle racing, and it’s one that will continue into the 2025 MotoAmerica season with likely even more vigor.
Herfoss’ seven victories on the season matched Wyman’s 2023 win total and the Australian is now the second most successful racer in the four-year history of the series with those seven wins. Wyman, meanwhile, is far and away the winningest rider in Bagger Racing history with his 18 class victories.
In total, there have been 43 Mission King of the Baggers races as the 2024 season marked its fourth as an AMA Championship series with this year’s 18 races a new season high. Remember, this all started with an invitational race at WeatherTech Raceway Laguna Seca in 2020. ■
King of the Baggers Championship finale and S&S Cycle/Indian rider Troy Herfoss simply dominated at New Jersey Motorsports Park. Here, Herfoss (#17) leads Kyle Wyman (#33), James Rispoli (#43), Rocco Landers (#97) and Tyler O’Hara (#29) on his way to the Championship.

TWENTY YEARS OF TUNES
AUDIO FOR RIDERS, BY RIDERS
For companies who have been in business for a long time, it can be hard to imagine them as fledgling startups with a single SKU. But, 20 years ago, that’s exactly where Hogtunes was. Now, two decades later, the company has a full catalog of audio solutions tailored for V-Twins.
Founder Mike “Pez” Pesdirz was working in the audio industry long before Hogtunes was born. He worked his way up in an audio distribution company that was focused on the automotive sector, eventually landing a national sales position in Toronto, Canada.
There, Pez started talking to his many neighbors who rode Harley-Davidson Touring bikes. When they complained that they couldn’t hear the speakers in their bikes, Pez tried to help out. After trying several speaker brands that had been developed for cars, he was no closer to finding a solution.
Then, Pez found a vendor who was able to make a speaker that could be a direct plug-and-play solution for Harleys. He began to sell the speaker as a side business, still focusing on his day job with the audio distribution company.
Except, before long, that side business turned into a big business.
As soon as Pez finalized North American distribution through LeMans, he gave up his sales job to dedicate himself fulltime to Hogtunes. One of the first things he did was visit the LeMans Corporation in Wisconsin.
At that meeting, Pez says, “They agreed to take a second model of the speaker, and I was super happy because that doubled my SKUs! It just started steamrolling from there.”
At the time, there weren’t a lot of audio choices outside of the OEM products offered by Harley. Hogtunes filled that need for a reasonably priced, quality aftermarket audio solution.
Naturally, Hogtunes quickly grew beyond those two speaker options. One of the next products from the company was tweeters.
“On some CVO Harleys, they offered this dash pad,” Pez recalls. “I kept looking at it thinking, ‘That would be an excellent place for some tweeters to go.’ We put tweeters in, and that became our tweeter pod. When that thing hit [the market], we were fighting to get containers in here fast enough.”
Pez wisely used the boost in income to invest in tools like CNC machines and digital scanners, which allowed Hogtunes to bring its development in-house. That, in turn, helped Hogtunes keep growing, both in terms of the variety of products offered and in sales volume.
Throughout that growth, Hogtunes has remained dedicated to producing quality products for riders and their motorcycles. “We won’t bring out anything that we deem is irresponsible to the bike,” Pez says. “Because we ride, we want to make sure we’re safe on the charging system and still have enough left for heated vests or other things the everyday rider wants.”
On the left is the very first product SKU on which Hogtunes launched its business. Now, 20 years later, the company has a vast array of motorcycle-specific audio products (left) available to your customers through Drag Specialties.
is also an off-road riding instructor, and he’s a member of the Iron Butt Association. Not long ago, he spent a week at BMW’s off-road riding facility in Germany to deepen his skills.
Pez has a bit of competition, though, when it comes to who’s toughest on a motorcycle. One of his longtime development leads, Garry, tested some new audio products on a ride from San Diego to Jacksonville, Florida, only stopping for fuel along the way.
In 2007, Pez introduced the Metrix brand so Honda Goldwing riders could get better sound, too. Hogtunes later added the Wild Boar brand in 2014. These premium audio products were designed for the Rushmore bikes, which had 8 more amps of available current for aftermarket products.
Twenty years after Pez founded Hogtunes, his approach hasn’t changed much. “We just want to make stuff that sounds good and works,” he says. ■

Drag Specialties has always been instrumental in the success of Hogtunes. Pez first met LeMans founder Fred Fox during the opening of the London, Ontario warehouse in Canada. Pez was there, with his first-ever vendor booth. Fred stopped by and began to chat with him.
“He said, ‘You don’t screw me, I don’t screw you. Keep bringing out good products, and we’ll be fine,’” Pez recalls.
“Even now that Fred is gone, I think people know I keep bringing up that pivotal moment and how we want to be as a vendor.”
In the years following that informal meeting, Pez would often visit LeMans headquarters, and Fred always made time to meet with him. Often, that first conversation would come up, and Fred would remind Pez that he was living up to their agreement.
“It’s nice that he recognized how hard we always try to be a good vendor,” Pez says.
As far as Pez is concerned, one of the reasons Hogtunes has been such a reliable vendor is because he and the rest of the team are riders themselves. Pez grew up riding dirt bikes in the mountains around Vancouver, and as he got older, he became interested in Harleys, too.
Pez still loves off-road riding. He’s ridden in the arctic – taking a trip across the Yukon – and he tackled Baja just last year. Pez

Custom Meets Performance A Tire for Style and Substance
Good looks and performance come together in the Pirelli Night Dragon tire, and the whole package just got a little sweeter. Recently, Pirelli announced that this tire for custom bikes has a new lower price tag to make it even more attractive.
The Pirelli Night Dragon tire is made for custom V-Twins, but it has plenty of DNA from the company’s sportier tires, meaning custom bike owners can have the best of both worlds. The looks are ideal for a custom build, and the performance characteristics allow riders to get outstanding mileage, grip and fun out of a set of these tires.
The technology and design aspects of the Pirelli Night Dragon make it ideal for sleeper bikes, too. The tire can deftly handle higher horsepower and torque, providing traction that engages right off the line even when riders are aggressive on the throttle. Pirelli’s Enhanced Patch Technology results in a larger contact patch, even when at lean, and the tread grooves are concentrated to provide maximum traction in just the right spots.
The tread design also provides efficient water drainage and braking stability, and the result is a tire that behaves well in all riding conditions. Pirelli’s Functional Groove Design on the front tire is especially adept at siphoning off water to ensure continued grip in wet conditions. On the rear tire, there are grooves between the central section of the tire and the edges, which also helps disperse water.
Mileage was a big factor when it came to choosing the right compound for the Night Dragon. At the same time, though, the compound needed to allow the tire to hook up even when riders accelerate at full throttle. The blend of silica and carbon black in the compound provides chemical grip, which holds even on damp and wet surfaces.
The structure of the Night Dragon is also carefully designed to provide optimized pressure distribution on the contact patch as well as stability at every lean angle. The team at Pirelli struck a balance between stiffness and flexibility so the Night Dragon has outstanding dampening properties while still being nimble and predictable.
The profile of the Night Dragon is directly influenced by Pirelli’s high-performance tires and racing experience. The shape of the profile allows for smooth transitions into and out of the corners, especially when compared to traditional cruiser profile shapes.
During a recent NVP, the Pirelli team announced that the Night Dragon’s price tag is now more attractive to riders than ever. This permanent price reduction means custom V-Twin riders can get all the looks and performance they want in a tire, but at a price that is more affordable. ■

Skid Plates for New Touring Models
axing out technology and performance is the name of the game with brand-new Harley-Davidson motorcycles, especially with Touring models like the Road Glide and Street Glide. It’s only natural for riders to want more advanced functionality and extra thrill when they twist the throttle. While it makes for an incredible motorcycle, it adds more systems with more parts, which means more potential failure points.
happen. THRASHIN is here to make sure you’re not that someone, and they jumped to work quickly after these bikes were released to find a solution.
These skid plates may not be a glamorous addition to the bike, or even visible under normal conditions (when the front wheel is on the ground), but THRASHIN is committed to producing quality products right here in the USA that deliver the look and feel of the THRASHIN lifestyle, regardless of where it’s mounted.
It takes an experienced rider – or a group of riders, in this case – to spot a potential trouble point before it becomes just that. Thankfully, the crew at THRASHIN Supply puts in the experience and the miles for you and your customers, and the brand’s new skid plate for 2024-current Harley Touring models is a product of that.
If you were to put a new Road Glide or Street Glide up on the lift and look under the bike in between the radiator and the front portion of the frame, you’ll see not only a section of wiring harness and connectors, but a coolant line leading to the engine, as well. Now, we may not be mechanics, but we know that coolant and electrical connections are critical to a motorcycle’s ability to operate normally.
If you asked around about the potential problem of those components being damaged from the road and debris, chances are someone knows someone who’s had it
THRASHIN skid plates are constructed from 0.125” wall, 5052 aluminum and are precision cut for a clean fit and an easy install using factory hardware. The THRASHIN flair is prominently displayed with the iconic TC lightning bolt logo cut into the center of each skid plate. Your customers can complement whatever look they’re feeling with options of either raw aluminum or black anodized finishes.
At a budget friendly retail price, THRASHIN skid plates seem like a no brainer for any of your 2024-current Touring model customers to keep their ride protected from easily avoidable mishaps that could leave them stranded on the highway. ■

Machined Style Billet
Upgrades for Indian Models
The problem many riders have with stock floorboards on today’s motorcycles is that they’re still a little bit on the small side. For customers who want to have more leeway in where their feet are positioned, stock floorboards tend to limit their options, compromising comfort. And, hanging part of their feet off the edge of the floorboard can be a bit risky.
That’s where Accutronix comes in with its Driver Floorboards for the Indian Chieftain, Roadmaster, Chief Classic, and Chief Vintage models. Machined out of solid billet 6061-T6 aluminum at its facility in Phoenix, Arizona, the Accutronix floorboards are designed to complement the styling of the Indian while providing much more room for foot placement. There are three floorboard options available: the Extended Drilled Instigator, the Extended Instigator, and the Extended Drilled Vintage.
The Extended Instigator is lengthened 2½ inches in both the front and rear, plus ¾ inch wider than the stock floorboards. Available in Brilliantly Black Anodized color, it features a multi-direction, slipresistant, black pyramid-top rubber insert to keep your feet in place.
The Extended Drilled Instigator is basically the same as the Extended Instigator, except that the forward half of the floorboard uses a raised hole pattern inspired by racing pedals for extra-positive grip. The rear half features the same pyramid-top anti-slip rubber insert as the Extended Instigator. Both Extended Instigator floorboards mount like stock using the stock hardware, with identical aggressive styling.
The Extended Drilled Vintage floorboard is lengthened 2½ inches in front, 1 inch longer in the rear, and ¾ inch wider than the stock Indian floorboard. Like the Extended Drilled Instigator, the forward half sports a raised hole pattern while the rear section uses the same multi-direction slip-resistant black pyramid-top rubber insert. And as with the Instigator floorboards, the Vintage units mount like stock using the stock hardware.
Machined from solid billet 6061-T6 aluminum, the Accutronix Extended Instigator floorboard (left) and Extended Drilled Vintage floorboards (right) are longer and wider than stock to allow more room for feet placement. They also offer better grip with slip-resistant rubber inserts and raised hole patterns.
The Accutronix side-mount license plate holder allows the option of either vertical or horizontal plate positioning, and mounts to the swingarm in place of the oval axle adjuster plate on the left side of the swingarm.
Additionally, Accutronix offers a billet-machined 6061-T6 aluminum side-mount license plate holder for the 20152023 Indian Scout models. Unlike some other side-mount brands that require custom fabrication to install, the Accutronix holder simply mounts in place of the oval axle adjuster plate on the left side of the swingarm. The holder allows the option of either vertical or horizontal license plate mounting, with a bright LED license plate light ensuring proper illumination. Available in black, the visible window size for the license plate is 6 inches x 3¼ inches, with the license plate mounting holes measuring 5¾ inches x 2¾ inches. ■

Parts for Up-Front Upgrades
Riders deserve to have the exact look they want for their motorcycle, which means there should be plenty of options for customizing it to suit their style. Accutronix and its sister company, Headwinds, give riders a lot of choice when it comes to quality aftermarket parts.
Accutronix has a wide variety of forward controls available, with a host of different design styles and fitments. The slotted forward controls for 1984-99 FXST models is a great example of the quality and craftsmanship that go into these products. The slotted design is made from T-6061 billet aluminum, and finishes include polished, chrome and the contrast-cut Night Series. For a cohesive look, a rider can choose a matching set of Accutronix foot pegs, too.
Those forward controls will look better perched atop an Accutronix triple tree. The 0-degree, 41mm Elite triple tree set fits all FXSTs and includes the top tree, bottom tree, stem, stem nut and fork stops. Since mounting hardware

Max-Adjustable Phone & Accessory Mounts
Bigger is better, right? While it may not be valid as a blanket statement, many people certainly seem to think it true in terms of smartphones. It’s not solely physical size that’s increased, but storage, cameras, speed and everything in between has steadily sped-up technology’s integration into our daily lives, including on our motorcycles.
About a decade ago, Ciro launched its iconic line of phone holders, mounts and accessories that proved themselves staples for any trip down the road. Fast forward to today and Ciro has launched its second generation of accessories and mounts boasting enhanced performance and elevated design all in the name of meeting modern needs and wants of today’s riders.
First in Ciro’s ‘GEN 2’ lineup is a product that actually led to the redesigning of Ciro’s accessory mounting systems: the Constrictor™ Phone Holder. Offered with and without a variety of different mounts, the Constrictor™ Phone Holder keeps riders’ phones secure and accessible with an ultra-tight hold and maximized adjustability. Maxing out at 4.5˝ wide, the Constrictor™ Phone Holder can accommodate a wide variety of devices, with or without protective cases – because no one likes having to take their phone case on and off.
Mounting options for the Constrictor™ Phone Holder include a versatile lineup of varying perch mounts, bar mounts and other great options already available from Ciro, each of them helping the specific needs of different riders and bikes.
However, Ciro is taking adjustability to the next step with GEN 2. An upgrade easily adaptable to any of Ciro’s original or GEN 2 accessories and mounts is the new ADJUST-ABALL™ mounting system. This system gives riders another level of customization with two additional adjustable
joints to get that perfect angle for any accessory they’re taking on the ride, whether it be a phone, a camera, a drink holder or anything from Ciro’s original or GEN 2 accessory lineup.
The ADJUST-A-BALL™ is available in two variations: a perch mount and a post mount. While the compact and sleek pieces that make up ADJUST-ABALL™ may not look like much at face value, they deliver next-level adjustability with two planes of 360-degree rotation, making virtually any position needed to fit around controls or get the right viewing angle a possibility. Plus, fine-tuned adjustment is quick and easy. Simply partially tighten the screws, set your position, then tighten fully and you’re ready to roll.
From phones to vlog cameras, technology has become more integral to the riding experience and Ciro has re-engineered its products to keep up with our everevolving lifestyle. Despite the changes, you can always count on consistent quality and durability from anything that comes out of a Ciro package. ■

Avon Tyres now offers its popular Cobra Chrome tire in two fat front tire options are sure to pique the interest of those customers looking for a custom V-Twin that really stands out. Fat Tires Up Front New
Sizes Popular with Builders
Getting the right look for a custom V-Twin includes choosing tires that fit the style of the build. With Cobra Chrome tires from Avon, custom builders have more choices than ever thanks to two new fat front tire sizes.
The Cobra Chrome tire is already a popular choice for custom bikes thanks to its combination of style, performance and availability of sizes. Avon offers this tire in an exceptionally wide range of sizes, making it compatible with a lot of cruisers, touring bikes, trikes and, of course, customs.
By adding front tire options in 180/50-21 and 180/50-23 sizes, custom builders can get a fat front tire that is sure to draw attention to the front end of the bike. Since Goodyear’s acquisition of Avon, the company has shown its commitment to custom builders by continuing to produce tire sizes and styles that builders love to work with.
Avon gives riders and builders even more choices by offering the Cobra Chrome tire in a whitewall option for a selection of sizes. The classic white stripe adds a distinct vintage look to even the most modern bike, and it hearkens back to the original Cobra tire. That legendary tire was transformed into the Cobra Chrome, which offers the same kind of great style combined with modern technology for excellent handling and longevity.
The snakeskin design on the sidewalls of the Cobra tire can still be found on the Cobra Chrome, but these days,
it’s laid down on an advanced tread and carcass design that provides nimble maneuverability and precise tire feedback. Grip and stability get a boost from Avon’s Enhanced Stability System, which reduces tire flex.
The durable compound makeup of the Cobra Chrome tire is paired with Avon’s Advanced Variable Belt Density technology on the rear. A densely wrapped belt in the center of the rear tire is paired with shoulder belts that are less densely wrapped, resulting in increased durability, a larger contact patch and improved stability.
Force Following Grooves (FFG) in the Cobra Chrome also bolster durability, since this design technique increases wear resistance. At the same time, FFG also reduces tire noise, so not only is the ride on Cobra Chrome tires stable and predictable, it’s quieter, too.
Riding a custom bike in the rain might not be ideal, but it’s likely to happen at some point. The Cobra Chrome tire features Avon’s Enhanced Aqua Flow (EAF) design in the tread for optimal water dispersal. Lighting up the Winter Ensuring Visibility During
With
As the weather turns colder, there is one subject that isn’t discussed enough, and that’s how to prepare for the longer hours of darkness during the fall and winter. Commuters especially see a difference, as their sunny summer rides give way to low lighting or even total darkness.
Upgraded lighting significantly increases visibility, in terms of both the rider’s view and of the bike itself. Custom Dynamics has plenty of tips and products for riders who will be cruising long after the winter sun goes down, or even hitting the road before sunrise.
Custom Dynamics offers LED headlights, brake lights, fog lights, and even emergency beacons to help riders during those hours of darkness or poor weather conditions, like rain, fog or snow. Upgrading from a standard halogen bulb to an LED light results in a brighter, whiter light as well as a wider area of coverage, so more of the road is visible.
And, since LEDs are more energy efficient and last longer, riders can be confident that their batteries won’t be overtaxed, even when it’s cold out and the charging system is already strained.
Harley-Davidson Road Glides can benefit from the Shark Demon Headlight and Fog Lamp Combo Kit. This kit includes a bright-white, DOT-compliant headlight that combines projection-style LEDs and a direct-reflective LED high beam. The selective yellow fog lamp adds another 2050 effective lumens for supreme clarity.
Riders who want to add a fog lamp to their existing headlight setup can opt for the ProBEAM Auxiliary LED
the Darker
Months
Halo Fog Lamp for Harley-Davidsons. They might be small, measuring just over 2 inches in diameter, but these ultra-bright halo lights fill the dark space between the bike and the low-beam’s pattern. This helps provide a better view of the road ahead, even when fog or snow are part of that view.
Being seen by vehicles following behind the bike is important, too, and Custom Dynamics has LED taillights and brake lights to make sure riders are easily spotted. Plus, products like the Saddlebag Latch Assembly with Auxiliary LEDs gives 2014-2024 Touring models an extra punch of light at the rear sides of the bike. By replacing the OEM saddlebag latch and reflector with red LEDs that function as run/brake/turn or run/turn lights, bikes have even more ways to alert others to their location.
Heading into winter, dealers should remind customers to check that their lighting systems are in proper working order, including clean lenses and proper alignment. By upgrading to lighting options that are brighter, vibrationproof and weather-resistant, riders can ride into the winter months with confidence that they can see and be seen with ease.
Riders will be even more prepared by carrying items like spare fuses and the Custom Dynamics LED Road Flare Safety Light. This compact light provides 360 degrees of illumination with flash, strobe, solid red and solid white options. ■

Products for V-Twins
Take a look around the paddock at a MotoAmerica race weekend, and you’re going to find plenty of Darkhorse Motor Company products on King of the Baggers bikes. Now, you can find the company’s high-performance products at Drag Specialties, too.
Darkhorse Motor Company stems from another business that is familiar in the V-Twin and racing scene: Hoban Brothers Motorcycles. The Hoban bothers, Tom and Pat, started their company in 1980. Nearly 45 years later, the family is still running the show, and there is a long list of growth and accomplishments to go with the name.
The story really begins with Tom and Pat’s parents, who owned a general store in the village of Osman, Wisconsin. The brothers opened a small motorcycle shop behind that general store right out of high school, and Drag Specialties became a distributor of their parts not long after.
Thanks to his engineering skills, Tom began balancing and blueprinting Harley-Davidson crankshafts for both the Hoban Brothers shop as well as other dealerships along the Southeastern Wisconsin lakeshore.
The crankshaft side of the business took off, and in 1998, Hoban Brothers Motorcycles grew to fill the space that had once housed the general store. At the same time, Darkhorse Motor Company was founded as a subsidiary to handle the work the brothers were doing for dealers. That way, there was a clear distinction between the retail and racing side of things and the work done for other dealers. Darkhorse is dedicated to the production and remanufacturing of crankshafts, crankcases and the company’s proprietary parts.
What had started as a 350-squarefoot shop has grown to well over 10,000 square-feet over the years, in part because an adjacent property became available. That allowed the team to bring all the work onsite as Darkhorse continued to thrive.
“Sometimes the good Lord puts you in the right place at the right time!” says GM/Owner John Dahmer. “We never thought dealerships would send us crankshafts from around the world, but as UPS and FedEx grew and outsourcing became a way of doing business – and with the release of the TwinCam platform, which the factory claimed could not

be rebuilt at the time – we were primed for the expansion and workload of Darkhorse Motor Company.”
John had joined the company years before, and at this point, he’s practically a part of the Hoban family himself. That family connection has continued to the next generation. Tom and Pat transferred their shares in the company to their sons, Tyger and Brad Hoban.
The team at Darkhorse manufactures all its own crankpins, bushings and spacers, and all the custom machining done to crankshafts and crankcases is performed in-house with HAAS CNC mills and lathes.
Tom’s son, Tyger, is the Owner/VP of Operations and Darkhorse Motor Company’s in-house engineer. He notes that, “HAAS machines are manufactured in California, and that has always been important to us, manufacturing American-made parts for American-made motorcycles with CNC machines made in America.”
Some of those American-made parts include the Man O-War Motorsprocket and Total Indicator Runout toolkit, both available from Drag Specialties.
Designed with performance in mind, the Man O-War Motorsprocket replaces the OEM Compensator on Milwaukee-Eight models. This upgrade provides instant torque response along with an “engine pulse absorbing cushion drive” primary drive system. The Man O-War Motorsprocket is engineered for longevity compared to OEM compensating sprockets. At the same time, this patented system puts an emphasis on rider comfort.

every BigTwin model produced in the last 50 years, all with one tool kept in a small tool bag that easily fits in a technician’s toolbox.
By gaining distribution through Drag Specialties, Darkhorse Motor Company is taking the next step in its growth. “Drag Specialties gives us the direct conduit to reach all of our dealers efficiently and cost effectively, and that is just what our dealers and customers have been looking for,” says John. “The 2025 Drag Specialties Catalog is right where we need to be, and it is a great honor to finally get here on our 45th anniversary!”
Hoban Brothers and Darkhorse are both involved in racing. That began in the 1990s, when Hoban Brothers Racing campaigned a Harley-Davidson 883 Sportster in the Championship Cup Series with none other than John piloting the bike.
In 1998, Hoban Brothers Racing got a pressed-together crankshaft for future Buell models. Hoban Brothers became the experts in getting those crankshafts prepped for racing. Before long, Darkhorse was involved, too, creating parts for the crankshafts and remanufacturing them.
Today, Darkhorse is heavily involved in King of the Baggers racing. The 2023 champions, Vance & Hines Motorsports, run Darkhorse parts, as does the popular Saddlemen Racing team and others in the series. Darkhorse products can be found on bikes in drag racing and land speed competition, too. ■

Ultra Performance Pistons for Extreme Builds
As a leader in forged racing pistons, JE Pistons brings over 75 years of experience to the V-Twin market and has been at the forefront of HarleyDavidson piston performance for decades.
Now, JE has applied its Ultra Series proprietary piston technology to the Harley MilwaukeeEight engine platform by creating pistons for ultra-horsepower M8 builds. JE’s Ultra Series piston technology is helping to redefine the performance limits of the Harley-Davidson M8 engine platform by introducing pistons for the high demands of 400+ horsepower extreme builds.
What differentiates Ultra Series pistons from the competition? JE Pistons’ proprietary Aligned Grain Flow technology. JE is a fully integrated piston manufacturers in the United States, and has developed a proprietary inhouse forging process that maximizes each piston’s aluminum grain structure alignment, resulting in next-level tensile strength. The technology enables Ultra Series pistons to endure the extreme demands of 400+ horsepower M8 builds, while adding durability to milder builds.
Ultra Series pistons combine the foundational strength of Aligned Grain Flow technology with performance and durability-enhancing features, such as thermal barrier crown coating to reduce heat transfer in excessive heat environments. Tuff Skirt piston coating reduces operating friction and wear. Lateral gas ports and an accumulator groove help maintain a power-producing ring seal at high rpms and when power-boosting add-ons like turbos are part of the build.
pistons for extreme applications. Ultra Series M8 pistons are available in standard bore as well as 4.310˝ and 4.320˝ over-sizes, each with the option of a 10.25:1 or 11.25:1 compression ratio.
In addition to Aligned Grain Flow technology, internal and external bracing further enhance the forging design of Ultra Series pistons, resulting in increased strength-to-weight ratio and longevity. The bracing also helps mitigate piston flex under heavy engine loads by increasing overall piston strength without adding weight. Additionally, 3D undercrown milling in non-critical areas helps further reduce weight, offset pins decrease piston rock and engine operating noise, and skirt notches deliver optimal clearance at bottom dead center.
Help your customers with high-horsepower M8 builds by choosing performance-proven Ultra Series forged
JE’s Ultra Series pistons are designed to handle the demands of 400+ horsepower Harley M8 engines. They come in a kit with everything needed for installation in a big-inch engine.
Ultra Series pistons are sold as a kit comprised of a pair of pistons, premium ring packs, wrist pins, and wire locks. Pre-Wired Bars for Easy Installation
LA Choppers’ range of pre-wired bars include the popular Hammerhead model for throttle-by-wire bikes. The pre-installed wiring takes all the guesswork out of installation, and makes for a speedy setup.
For customers looking to upgrade their stock bikes, handlebar installation has always been a challenge that involves patience and skill. Fortunately, LA Choppers is once again ahead of the curve, committed to simplifying the installation process for both dealers and customers.
With the company’s new Pre-Wired Handlebar options, LA Choppers ensures that installing handlebars is quicker, easier, and more reliable than ever.
LA Choppers has been hard at work to ensure that its most popular handlebar models are available with pre-installed wiring. From the iconic throttle-by-wire Twin Peaks, to the Prime Apes for the 2024 Street Glide, customers now have pre-wired options available to them. The benefits of prewired handlebars are many for your customers and your dealership. Here are the highlights.
SPEED UP INSTALLATION TIME
Pre-wired bars dramatically cut down on the time it takes for service technicians to complete the job. Gone are the days of painstakingly fishing wiring through the handlebars. Now, all they need to do is mount the prewired bars to the risers and connect the pre-installed wires to the bike’s stock locations. It’s that simple.
MINIMIZE RISK OF DAMAGE
Handlebar installation can be tricky, and there’s always a chance of damaging the bars while threading the
wires through. Pre-wired bars eliminate this risk, as the handlebars arrive with the wires already neatly installed, reducing the likelihood of nicks, scratches or other costly damage.
COST-EFFECTIVE
With pre-wired bars, you save valuable labor costs. Since the installation process is faster and more streamlined, the time spent by service techs is significantly reduced, allowing shops to maintain their billable hours while shortening the installation time. It’s a win-win for both dealers and customers.
SIMPLIFIED ORDERING PROCESS
Dealers can now streamline their ordering process. Instead of having to hunt for compatible wiring after selecting the correct handlebar, dealers can simply choose the pre-wired option and get everything they need in one package. This saves time and energy, ensuring the right fit for every customer.
All of LA Choppers’ most-loved handlebar models are now available with pre-wired options. The lineup includes Twin Peaks (throttle-by-wire and 2024 Touring applications), Prime Apes (throttle-by-wire), Hammerhead (throttle-bywire), and Threshers (throttle-by-wire). ■

Getting Bikes Ready for Storage Winter Prep
Not everyone is lucky enough to live in a place where you can ride year-round. For your customers who are preparing to pack away their motorcycle for the cold winter months, LIQUI MOLY offers all the products necessary to make sure the bike is ready to go when spring rolls around.
Properly preparing a bike for winter storage is important, and LIQUI MOLY products cover everything from the engine to the battery, ensuring there aren’t any unpleasant surprises at the end of the storage season.
With LIQUI MOLY’s product lineup, your shop and customers have access to everything needed to prepare bikes for winter storage.
For the fuel system, riders can begin by adding LIQUI MOLY’s Gasoline Stabilizer before storage. This is an easy way to preserve the fuel and protect against premature aging and oxidation. It prevents corrosion in the fuel system and increases operational reliability of 2-stroke and 4-stroke engines during long-term storage. The tank and fuel system will be clean and ready to go when spring arrives.
It’s also important to make sure the oil system is clean before a bike gets put away, and that begins by adding LIQUI MOLY Motorbike Engine Flush to the existing oil. This cleansing product is a highly effective formulation for quick and safe removal of deposits from engines before an oil change. A clean engine will provide less wear, lower emissions and improved performance while preventing premature oil degradation.
Adding fresh oil is the next step of the process. LIQUI MOLY offers specific oil formulations for V-Twins, and the company’s online oil guide takes the guesswork out of which option to choose.
LIQUI MOLY Motorbike MoS2 Shooter can be added to the fresh oil to provide immediate friction and wear reduction. An extremely protective and pressure-resistant boundary layer will form on all wear surfaces and provide cold-start lubrication to prevent damage caused by lack of oil. The result is longer engine life, improved efficiency and less noise.
Keeping a battery charged during the winter is a key part of maintenance, but the battery terminals themselves also need to be looked after. LIQUI MOLY Battery Clamp Grease sees to that by preventing corrosion and oxidation.
The grease can be added to the contacts, terminals and connections, so the battery will transmit optimal power when the bike is started up in the spring.
Preventing corrosion on the electrical components of a bike, like connectors and fuses, is easy with LIQUI MOLY’s Electronic Spray. This is a fully synthetic, silicone-free contact spray, formulated for use on vehicle electronics and general electrical systems. The spray cleans and protects electrical connectors and minimizes contact resistance, and it’s neutral to paints, common plastics and rubber.
And after the winter? Adding LIQUI MOLY Motorbike 4T Bike Additive to the first tank of fuel after storage will remove deposits from the fuel system, valves, spark plugs and the combustion chamber while preventing new deposit formation. It improves engine performance and lowers emissions. ■

DragSpecialtiesDealer:One-StopShop
Amajor benefit that all Drag Specialties dealers share is quick and easy delivery when ordering parts from the FatBook and OldBook catalogs. In most cases, overnight shipping means there’s a strong chance customers can have their Harleys up and running the next day.
But Ramjet Performance Cycles in Phoenix, Arizona, is not like most other Harley shops. It’s safe to say that many of Ramjet’s customers enjoy immediate access to the replacement parts needed to get their bikes up and running the very same day they place their orders. What gives?
Greg Matter who served as Ramjet’s Drag Specialties Dealer Rep before becoming Drag’s National Sales Manager, explains: “Ramjet Performance Cycles has always carried a sizable inventory that covers a broad range of Harley models. They’re the go-to shop in the Valley if you need something the same day for your Harley.”
“We work on pretty much all Harley models and Custom V-twins,” confirms Ramjet’s owner Tony Mei, “from ’36 (Knuckleheads) to current M-8 models.” He continues: “We have the products in stock to support that, and a good team in the service department, including JD, Robert, Beau, Derrick, Jay and Chris.”
And, just like that, a Ramjet customer’s bike can be in and out of the shop to be
on the road that same day. After all, the main intent is to ride the Harley, not leave it forlornly parked overnight on a service lift. That flexibility is found in Ramjet’s service department that incorporates its own machine shop where trained technicians fabricate or customize components to fit individual bikes.
Nick Stofle, Ramjet’s current Dealer Rep points out that Ramjet’s parts inventory, including specially made or modified parts is so extensive that the shop, “is like a candy store for Harley-Davidson enthusiasts.”
But it’s more than just eye candy that Ramjet Performance Cycles peddles. Ramjet focuses on supplying its customers with unique parts that, quite often, seem as though
The Ramjet crew, from left: Jerry Williams, Frank Medina, Brandon Praeger and Tony Mei.
they’re tailored expressly for a chosen bike. As you might guess that flexibility allows Ramjet Performance Cycles to produce some rather unique and interesting custom-made bolt-on replacement parts for the custom and customer bikes that continually roll out of the shop located at 12001 N. Cave Creek Rd., Phoenix, Arizona.
The shop itself is a clean and orderly facility packed within 14,000 square feet, of which 8,000 square feet are dedicated to a spacious showroom featuring interactive displays that customers can view up close. Those displays feature various bolt-on custom and replacement parts (most of which are available in the FatBook) mounted on display motorcycles or on their own dedicated, stand-alone exhibits. Either presentation helps customers gain a better understanding of just what the individual parts look like and how each assembly is intended to operate or fit onto the bike. Overhead lighting, further enhanced by the highly polished flooring, suggests an orderly, even sterile, environment that welcomes and encourages visitors and customers to take their time while browsing and shopping.
Known for its extensive range of V-Twin parts and accessories from within the pages of the FatBook and OldBook, Ramjet also maintains a lineup of pre-owned Harley-Davidsons for sale. Many of those bikes feature the store’s proprietary modifications and upgrades.
Pre-owned Harleys occupy the sales floor and outdoor parking lot, too. Many of those for-sale bikes boast some of Ramjet’s proprietary modifications that often are complemented with their own custom parts to further boost a particular bike’s unique style.
All of that attention to detail didn’t happen overnight, though. Tony has more than 20 years of experience in the business, which began when, as a curious and industrious teenager, he swept floors and cleaned parts at his father’s garage that served as headquarters for his race cars that he successfully competed with at Arizona’s popular local racetracks.
Digging a little deeper into the family history reveals that Tony’s father was known by his fellow racers as “Ramjet,” but, as pointed out, his shop wasn’t used for business; it was race headquarters. The motorcycle business bearing his name came later after Ramjet was caught innocently tinkering with a Shovelhead Harley in between tending to his race cars in the garage. The fact that several wellknown custom bike builders in the Phoenix area (among them Paul Yaffe, and Roger Bourget) prompted Ramjet
the race car driver to finish the Shovelhead and enter it in a custom bike show reveals the level of his talents. Ramjet (the man) took their advice and entered the shovelhead in a World of Wheels show where it won an award. Before the 1993 calendar ran out, Ramjet, with his young son Tony in tow, was in the motorcycle business!
They resettled into a suitable facility, but eventually Tony’s father decided to open his own Ramjet Speed Shop in Phoenix that, to this day, caters to car enthusiasts. Meanwhile, Tony set about establishing his own place in the motorcycle business. In 2015 he opened his shop that became Ramjet Performance Cycles. Tony also brought with him the priceless work ethics and mechanical background that his father had embedded in his shop skills and work habits during those formative years as an industrious and energetic young man.
By 2015 Tony settled into the current building along Cave Creek Road, and the business shifted into top gear. It’s been full speed ahead ever since.
“We offer nearly all products and services any customer wants for their Harley,” says owner Tony Mei.
And through the years Tony’s favored Harley model has remained the FXR (all years), and to that end, he proudly says, “We (Ramjet Performance Cycles) probably have more FXR parts than any other shop.” A peek at Ramjet’s FXR parts manifest reveals an endless inventory that includes Twin Cam conversion parts, Brembo performance brake upgrades, kickstand lift blocks, ARP Shock Hardware Kits, plus hybrid items that join Ramjet’s custom-made components with familiar-brand store-shelf products, and more.
Tony and his crew also encourage FXR owners who visit the shop to read Tim Remus’ book, FXR Bible (available through Ramjet). It’s a book that will help any FXR owner foster a better and more thorough understanding of their bike’s position within Harley-Davidson’s storied family tree. Moreover, when you apply the right parts to any Harley or custom build, the bike will handle and perform much better than stock, while retaining the smooth, solid ride all Harleys are known for.
In fact, Ramjet Performance Cycles pushes that same philosophy to all its customers, regardless of Harley model. And to keep those big bikes rolling trouble free, Ramjet offers three distinct service levels for all customer bikes, regardless of model or year.
“We offer nearly all products and services any customer could want for their Harley,” says Tony. “We offer basic services and specials such as Tire & Brake services, Scheduled Maintenance, Complete Engine or Transmission builds, Suspension Upgrades, Diagnostics, Fabrications, Dyno Tuning, and Complete Customer builds. Above all, though, we offer solutions that fit a wide range of budgets.”
Most recently, Ramjet has ventured into the cyber zone of the business world, expanding its commerce horizon to reach Harley customers online. The goal is to offer customers around the world access to Ramjet’s proprietary custom Harley components.
“We are now selling (custom) parts all over the country, and the world,” says Tony. Ramjet’s extensive inventory, one that stretches back to those early Big Twins, now can help other dealers keep their customers’ older — and newer — Harleys on the road where they belong.
On the surface, fitting custom parts onto a motorcycle located miles away might seem to pose certain problems in terms of matching fitment specifications, but Ramjet has what Greg Matter describes as their “ace in the hole.” That would be Jerry Williams who forms the nucleus for Ramjet’s parts department. Matter describes Jerry as “an encyclopedia of fitment knowledge.” Having worked behind Ramjet’s parts counter for most of the time the shop has been in business, Jerry is meticulously familiar with the variety of parts — both custom-made and pre-packaged — in their inventory. Clearly, and as Matter points out, “If you need anything, Jerry can probably find it.”
There’s more — lots more — to Ramjet Performance Cycles, including a monthly parking lot swap meet that welcomes motorcycle owners in Ramjet’s community to come and buy or sell their old or leftover parts. It helps the community, customers can find that certain part they’ve been searching for, and the swap meet gives some bike owners a chance to clear out their garage, or simply put some cash back into their pockets.
Ramjet also is expanding its media department by producing more videos that feature a variety of topics and/or products. It’s all in the interest of connecting with bike owners throughout the world who are looking for more ways to improve the ride and performance of their Harleys…of of all vintages.
No doubt, there’s a lot going on at Ramjet Performance Cycles. But at the end of the day, the goal remains the same: Keep the customer happy and satisfied. And to do that, this progressive indie dealer offers a multitude of options, all of which helps keep Big Twin Harleys on the road…where those iconic bikes belong! ■
Customers walking into Ramjet Performance Cycles will note that the shop is a clean and orderly operation. Its showroom features a number of great interactive displays of parts and products from a range of Drag Specialties vendors.
Smartphone Setup Durable Mounts, Cases and Chargers
Few of us leave home without our smartphone, and they have become an indispensable part of the motorcycling experience. A smartphone gets us where we need to go and keeps us in touch with our fellow riders. That means it’s vital that a smartphone is securely mounted, so there is no need to worry about losing it on a ride. SP Connect makes sure phones stay in place and protected from the elements thanks to an extensive range of cases, mounts and chargers that work with virtually all smartphones.
SP Connect phone cases are slim but sturdy, with a three-layer design that still allows the use of all ports and buttons, as well as wireless charging for most phones. In addition to the standard phone cases, there are also SPC+ phone cases. These mount to any SP Connect holder in just one second via a sturdy magnetic attachment. SPC+ cases have a 40 percent thinner design, which means they are MagSafe-compatible.
Smartphones can get even more protection with the addition of an SP Connect weather cover. These screen covers guard a phone from weather, mud and dust without interrupting touchscreen functionality.
SP Connect gives riders plenty of choices about where and how their smartphone is mounted to the motorcycle. The Moto Mount Pro clamps securely to handlebars, including the standard 1-inch Harley-Davidson bars as well as the popular 1¼-inch aftermarket size. Another popular handlebar size is 1½-inches, which the Moto Mount 3D easily attaches to. Both of these mounts are made from CNC-milled aircraft-grade aluminum for a beautiful fit and finish.
In addition to handlebar mounts, SP Connect lets a smartphone mount to a motorcycle in just about any spot. Options include the Brake Mount Pro, which attaches to the brake fluid reservoir, the Perch Mount Pro and the Mirror Mount Pro.
For even more versatility, the Adhesive Mount Pro can go anywhere there is some available space thanks to an extremely strong 3M adhesive. Windscreen mounting is possible with the Suction Mount.
Most of these mounting options provide 360 degrees of rotation, so the angle can be adjusted to suit the rider’s preferences. And, as expected, both portrait and landscape modes are possible.
SP Connect makes things especially easy with its two Moto Bundle options. With one part number, a rider can get the phone case, weather cover and Moto Mount Pro.

Performance, Not Pollution An Upgraded Brake Pad Compound
When the team at SBS set out to make a cleaner, more environmentally friendly brake pad compound, what they got was something that also improved braking performance, stability and heat resistance. It’s nice to use products that contain fewer harmful materials, but it’s even nicer when those products result in a performance increase, too.
The SBS Better Brakes campaign was launched specifically for the US market, ushering in brake pads with a compound that complied with the Better Brakes legislation already instated in states such as California and Washington. While these laws are intended to clean things up in the auto industry, SBS wanted to be ready when that legislation extends to motorcycles, too.
For V-Twin riders, ceramic brake pads with an HF or CS designation and sintered pads with an HS or MS designation already have the SBS Better Brakes compound, which is free of copper, nickel and antimony. Copper is a common material in sintered brake pads, while antimony is found in many ceramic compounds.
Convincing a customer to buy a product simply because it’s better for the environment can be tough, but the performance benefits of these updated SBS pads make them a very easy sell.
With SBS Better Brakes, stopping power has been improved by as much as 12% compared to the previous compound,
making it a significant improvement. Brake feel is improved, too, and that feel should remain consistent throughout both the ride and the life of the brake pad.
In addition to the boost in braking stability and heat resistance, the new compound also offers stronger initial bite. As the V-Twin industry continues to foster a performance mindset, SBS Better Brakes products are right in line with that.
These improvements are exciting for the performanceminded riders, but they have another very practical application. When hard braking is necessary—such as when a vehicle pulls out in front of a bike—these pads can get the bike stopped quickly and reliably.
SBS Better Brakes pads are made with NUCAP NRS technology, which is an advanced mechanical friction material bonding technology. A grid of steel hooks on the steel backing plate molds into the friction material, creating an incredibly strong, corrosion-safe mechanical bond that doesn’t require any adhesives.
And, since these pads have ECE R90 certification, riders know they’re getting performance and quality that is equal to or better than the OEM version. ■

Optimized Performance Air Cleaners
Fuel, air and spark. These three elements seem simple at face value, but delivery and transformation of these inside an engine is something only experienced engineers, builders and tuners can dial in for the performance we all love.
The crew at FEULING are among those folks with years of experience designing improved cylinder heads, combustion chambers and intake manifolds, leading to an understanding of how to manipulate an engine’s chemistry to make horsepower. While the magic happens inside the engine, it all starts on the outside, and now it can start with FEULING’s BA air cleaner kit *(EMIS Code 2)
and increase air velocity, delivering added volume for a balanced and better running engine.
Each dimension was carefully designed and tested, including the opening diameter, outer lip and internal diameter taper. The benefits of FEULING BA air cleaners are packed into a one-piece design with a reusable air filter for a clean look and ease of installation.
Testing and development of BA air cleaners was done on a variety of engines and models, from stock to built, resulting in gains throughout the power curve, especially in the mid-range.
Available in chrome or black finishes with clear and solid cover options, FEULING’s BA air cleaner kits are a highbenefit bolt-on for any of your customers. ■

Tunable Drop-In Clutch Performance
Rekluse’s tunable modular high-performance traditional manual clutch system for HarleyDavidson models combines its highest-quality components in one package. APEX Clutch systems are designed to improve clutch performance – whether showroom stock or a high-horsepower custom build – resulting in a lightweight lever feel, seamless actuation and shifting, and the ability to find neutral quickly.
The APEX clutch can be installed as a complete drop-in system, allowing riders to easily experience improved power delivery, torque and longevity. Clutch pressure can also be tuned for each model, use case or rider preference, with three available clutch spring options for fine-tuning, including stock power, mid-power, and up to 200 lb-ft of torque.
Rekluse’s patented Fixed-Pin Hub uses steel-on-steel contacts to decrease drive plate wear and groove notching, while reducing the inherent performance degradation associated with aluminum plates. Customers can expect a noticeable improvement in clutch modulation and lever feel compared to OEM steel-on-aluminum hub designs.
BIG POWER.
APEX Clutch Systems also include TorqDrive friction disc technology, which allows the addition of up to eight more friction discs over the OEM clutch stack. Increasing the number of plates allows clutch lever modulation to remain smooth and seamless throughout the rpm range, with more friction discs resulting in more torque capacity and improved power transfer to the rear wheel.
Compatible with a wide range of M8 and Twin Cam Big Twins models (2007 to current), Rekluse APEX Clutch Systems are proudly made in the USA at its headquarters in Boise, Idaho. ■

Bigger is Better Oversize Floating Brake Rotors
Bolt-on options to customize Harleys are seemingly endless. From bags to fairings to exhaust and everything in between, riders love making their bike a project. Yet, many are adding weight and power, which means they need better stopping performance.
Even some of the newest Harleys leave something to be desired in the braking department and Galfer is here to fill that void. Coming straight out of its precision factory in Spain, Galfer offers oversize, floating rotors that fit a massive list of different models.
Available in 12.5˝ and 13˝ sizes, the benefit of a larger diameter rotor over stock is braking power. The increased size gives the braking system more leverage to effectively transfer stopping force to the wheel, creating very consistent and predictable brake performance.
The floating design of these rotors refers to the braking surface and the hub of the rotor being two separate pieces instead of one, connected by what Galfer calls buttons. This design allows the

TGoing Bigger Performance Pistons for M8 engines
here is only so much power you can wring out of a stock engine, and for riders who are focused on performance, upgrading to KB Performance Super Duty pistons are an ideal way to get more power and retain the factory cylinders.
KB Performance Super Duty pistons for Harley-Davidson Milwaukee-Eight applications converts engines of 114 or 117 cubic inches to 120 cubic inches by increasing the bore to 4.125˝. Super Duty pistons are designed for a perfect fit and maximum efficiency, and everything is made from premium materials that can handle the high-heat environment of a Harley engine.
hard-anodized crown also defends against corrosion from alcohol fuels, so riders who are really amping up performance can use these pistons without worry.
KB’s Super Duty pistons are supplied with Line2Line abradable skirt coating. This proprietary coating is thicker and has a higher load capacity than a standard skirt coating, and it results in a piston-to-wall clearance of nearly zero. And, because Line2Line coating conforms to the cylinder for a custom fit, piston rock and mechanical noise are reduced.
The top ring groove and crown are hard anodized, which allows the ring to rotate on a hard surface. This reduces micro welding to the groove, and it ensures a smooth surface for a snug seal with the included premium rings. The
In addition to the pistons and premium rings, each package also includes wrist pins with round wire locks. ■

Helping Hands An Updated Part for Improved Clutching
Sitting in traffic or navigating twisty roads can result in tired hands from operating the clutch lever so much. Müller Motorcycle founder Werner Müller solved that problem more than 20 years ago with the Power Clutch for a range of Harley-Davidson models, including Evolution, Milwaukee-Eight and Twin Cam bikes. Now, the Power Clutch 2.0 has arrived for all M8 models to make sure clutch-hand fatigue is a thing of the past.
Müller Motorcycle’s Power
2.0 for
One of the reasons the team at Müller wanted to update the Power Clutch for M8 models was to combat issues with clutch engagement and occasional grinding. With the Power Clutch 2.0, clutch performance is smoother and more reliable. At the same time, it takes about 45 percent less pressure to engage the clutch lever.
The Power Clutch 2.0 features a re-configured geometry for the ball ramps for even smoother operation compared to the original Power Clutch. Plus, the company has included its Müller Clutch Control part in the package, so customers get a two-forone deal. Müller Clutch Control makes it easy to adjust the Bowden clutch cable, and is more durable than the original plastic part.
The Power Clutch 2.0 is a small part that is virtually hidden once installed, but it makes a big difference. Riders get less hand fatigue, adjusting the cable tension is easier and clutch operation is smoother. ■
