Happy 32nd New Year!
BY DON EMDE
Welcome to issue #1 of our 32nd year of publishing magazines for LeMans Corporation. I’ve told the story many times how I presented the idea to Fred Fox back in the Fall of 1993 about my company producing magazines they could mail to their dealers. It would be filled with information about the products they distributed, and features about people and events they were involved with. Fred gave it the green light and we were publishing magazines about this time of the new year in 1994.
I’ll always be grateful that Fred’s response was that we should give it a try and see how it works out. Fast forward 32 years to this issue of Drag Specialties Magazine, Vol 32 Issue #1, a hefty 128-page publication featuring over 50 product stories and advertisements about V-Twin industry-leading brands available to you through Drag Specialties. In addition, there are numerous news items, new products, reports about season-ending Bagger Racing events with the BRL and MotoAmerica, a custom bike build by Drag Specialties sales rep Mike Coury, and a preview of the upcoming NVP in Louisville.
Speaking of the Louisville NVP, the doors for dealers open on Saturday morning, January 25th Be sure to check out the detailed preview starting on page 28 with schedules of when the show doors open, some exclusive dealer training sessions begin, and about the always popular Meet & Greet reception on Saturday night. And as always, you’ll find a few tips from our Editor Dennis Johnson about some cool new products that can be found on the show floor.
With the spring riding season just a few months away, V-Twin riders are getting their bikes ready right now and they will be eager to hear from you about those many new products you will learn about in Louisville. We’ll be there and hope to see you. ■

SEASON FEATURES EIGHT ROUNDS OF RACING
The Drag Specialties Battle of the Baggers Bagger Racing League is thrilled to announce its provisional 2025 calendar, featuring eight rounds across the United States, one stop in Canada, and an AMA Bagger Championship event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course.
The 2025 season promises more action-packed competition with every BRL event serving as a doubleheader for all national classes, ensuring an exciting eight-race championship.
The season kicks off April 26-27 at Chuckwalla Raceway in Desert Center, California, launching the campaign in the stunning desert landscape for round 1 and 2. From there, the series heads to America’s Heartland on May 24-25 for round three and four at Motorsport Park Hastings in Hastings, Nebraska.
In June, the BRL travels to the Great Lakes region, stopping at Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, Michigan, for round five and six on June 28.
The highlight of the summer will be a stand-alone AMA Bagger Championship event at Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course in Lexington, Ohio, on July 26. This marks the second visit to Mid-Ohio as part of a unique collaboration with the AMA to crown a separate championship winner.
International fans will rejoice as the BRL makes its Canadian debut at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park in Bowmanville, Ontario, on August 9-10. This event, organized in partnership with CSBK, will also be a stand-alone competition separate from the BRL points championship.
The season wraps up with an exciting finale at Willow Springs Raceway in Rosamond, California, on November 1-2, where rounds seven and eight will decide the BRL championship titles.

RIP Anthony Blaine Birchfield
5/18/40 – 11/21/24
We at Drag Specialties Magazine are sorry to report that the motorcycle industry lost a friend on Thursday, November 21. Blaine Birchfield was unable to recover from a stroke he suffered earlier that week at a health care facility in his hometown of Orlando, Florida. He was 84 years old.
Our publisher Don Emde shared his memories of Blaine: “I first got to know Blaine at the trade shows in 1978 when I started a job selling ads for Motorcycle Dealernews Magazine. Blaine was then a part of Goodyear Tire’s sales rep team in the days when Goodyear was one of the leading motorcycle tire manufacturers and Kenny Roberts was on his way to his first World Grand Prix Championship on a Goodyear-shod Yamaha.
As I got to know Blaine, we discovered a mutual background we had with Harley-Davidson 165s, the little two-stroke that was the big brother of the famous 125cc Harley Hummer. My first motorcycle was a Harley 165 that had been raced in the lightweight class at the Catalina Grand Prix in the 1950s. Blaine also raced a 165 out of Puckett’s Harley-Davidson in Orlando. In 1962, he competed at Daytona on the Sportsman Day for amateur riders, and he won the Class 2 race for motorcycles up to 175cc. We often compared notes and stories about our 165s.
When I first got to know Blaine, he ran with a great group of fellow manufacturer’s sales reps, including Everett Brashear, Gary Bryson, Paul Collins, Don Graves, Gene Trobaugh and others. After Goodyear exited the motorcycle business, Blaine went to work in the sales department at Cobra Engineering for Ken Boyko. He was hard working, traveled a lot and always did what he could do to promote Cobra’s products in the aftermarket. He was a familiar face at every major motorcycle dealer show and trade event for many years.
After living in California to be near the Cobra headquarters, Blaine semi-retired around 2013 and moved back to the Orlando area. For at least another five years he continued to represent Cobra from his base there. Around the time of the Covid pandemic, he finally retired completely and spent his remaining days among some of his lifelong friends. Blaine Birchfield loved the motorcycle industry and everyone who worked in it. I can safely say he was a man with no enemies, everyone loved Blaine. Godspeed old friend.” ■

Ruben Xaus Crowned BRL Champion
2024 BAGGER RACING LEAGUE SEASON RECAP
Racing has long been used as a test bed of performance innovation, with racetracks becoming laboratories where theories are tested, experiments are conducted, and results are evaluated. However, racing has long involved much different goals as well, including calculated risk taking and flat out fun. For the savvy aftermarket manufacturers taking part in the Drag Specialties Bagger Racing League, they get it all!
The timing was right when, in 2020, late LeMans Corporation founder Fred Fox and BRL founder Rob Buydos asked about a dozen company reps to meet at an Elks Club in Southern California. When each one recognized the other company reps on arrival, they knew something was up. The idea revealed was that trends were shifting from a custom focus to performance-based mods like better brakes, more responsive suspension and lighter weight – and many of those parts could be found in the Drag Specialties FatBook. All riders needed, figured Buydos and Fox, was inspiration.
Saddlemen’s Dave Echert was at that first meeting. He remembers, “Fred had hoped we’d use the Drag Specialties catalog as a basis to build the bikes so most of us built performance
baggers.” And according to Buydos, Saddlemen turned up at the first race –at Laguna Seca with no spectators allowed because of Covid – with an incredible race bike.
But one of BRL’s parameters is that all parts used on the race bike need to be available to the public. So now, four years later, most of the BRL aftermarket companies running in BRL continue to bring new, innovative products to the Drag catalog. That’s one way teams in the hunt for the podium also make strides in product development and brand recognition.
The BRL, which has become a premier race series for custom and V-Twin motorcycles, is building an enthusiastic audience of race fans along with a cadre of would-be racers who are now demanding the V-Twin performance products they see being tested on the track. For sponsors and teams that totally justifies the fun that tags along.
Rounds 5 & 6
In 2024, as last year, six rounds of racing took place as double headers in three locations, making finances and logistics efficient for teams participating. Final rounds 5 and 6 happened November 16-17 at the legendary Willow Springs

International Raceway in Rosamond, California, where high winds challenged riders on the first day at this iconic 2.5mile road course.
Ignoring distractions, Cory West (Saddlemen/Harley-Davidson), who was making his first appearance of the season, commanded the track to take top honors in the Andrews Products Bagger GP class for both rounds. This was also the first appearance of the season for Shane Narbonne (Trask Performance), the season champ in this top-shelf class the past three years.
Cody Gilmore (Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson) showed who’s boss in Pirelli Pro Stock Bagger, sweeping the field in the last two rounds of the season. Jake Masters (Performance Machine/Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson) ran Willow like a pro, finishing both Barnett Super Street Bagger races in first place.
Vincent Wilson (Alloy Art) placed first in both rounds of the Zipper’s American Twins Unlimited while simultaneously earning third for the season, and Jake McGuire (HarleyDavidson Bowling Green) cleaned up in similar fashion, claiming victories in both rounds of Air-Cooled Twins.
West (Saddlemen/Harley-Davidson) reprised his earlier role by winning both races in DP Brakes Liquid Twins, showing grit and talent. “Racing with the BRL at Willow Springs is a fantastic experience and a perfect way to end a long season,” he says. “The BRL has a great atmosphere with lots of good people within the industry, all having fun at the track.”
Seasons Honors
When the dust cleared after round 6, the 2024 season champions were crowned.
In the premiere Andrews Products Bagger GP class, the 2024 champion was Spanish phenom Ruben Xaus (Feuling Goeleven) who previously raced Moto GP and World Superbike. Feuling’s engine expertise and deft suspension changes on the Flying Pig 3.0 – as the bike is dubbed – connected with Xaus’s long experience for success. The Feuling team also took possession of the Fred Fox Cup, an annual traveling award dedicated to Fred’s lasting memory.
“Once again the series did not disappoint,” enthused Mike Pedersen, speaking for class sponsor Andrews Products. “Thrilling races every event were fueled by not only the
Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson’s Cody Gilmore swept rounds 5 and 6 of the Pirelli Pro Stock Bagger class, and was the Champion of the class for the 2024 season. Casey Horner photo

Bagger GP class, but a number of entry level classes as well. This is by far the most exciting segment in motorcycle racing.”
Cody Gilmore (Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson) won Pirelli Pro Stock Bagger for the year, while teammate Arnie Wells placed second in the class and took the season championship in the Metric Bagger Class.
In the newest class of the series, Barnett Super Street Bagger, Jake Masters (Performance Machine/Suburban Motors Harley-Davidson) took the top spot. As an approachable inroad for dealers to go racing, it proved, says Buydos, that you don’t need to buy a Ferrari to go road racing. Added Barnett’s Chance Darling, “We were proud to sponsor the class. This was how and why the Bagger Racing series got started!”
“The BRL is a perfect venue for novices and people who want to get into racing,” adds Saddlemen’s Echert. “It’s a great way to test out the tracks and get some experience.”
In Zipper’s American Twins Unlimited class, Carl Schlacht (Hawg Halters Inc., Speed Farm) dominated. Jake McGuire (Harley-Davidson Bowling Green) prevailed in Air-Cooled
Twins and Cory West (Saddlemen/Harley-Davidson) broke a tie with Andrew Berkley (Underground Team Racing) to triumph in DP Brakes Liquid Twins.
No question, winning is satisfying. But the BRL is worth far more to sponsors and teams. “We are very proud to have been with Rob Buydos and BRL since its inception,” emphasized DP Brakes’ Larry Mills. “Being involved has truly grown our brand overall as DP Brakes sponsors both the series and the teams competing with our brakes and clutches. The feedback from riders and teams helps us maintain our competitive edge and improve on what we offer, not only to the racers but also to the consumer.”
The BRL continues to attract aftermarket parts companies as practical aspects of racing present opportunities. An example: race-tuned Baggers can run hot so when JJ Petchel, owner of Ultracool Oil Coolers, was called on by the Trask Performance team, it naturally followed for the company to come on board as a series sponsor. Ultracool stepped up and it didn’t take long for other race teams to notice and adopt their oil coolers, aiding performance and amping up the competitive edge.

Heading into BRL’s fifth consecutive season, Buydos says that the organization is incredibly proud of the series’ growth. “As we settle into the 2025 schedule, we get to see the benefits of the groundwork we’ve laid as we add a new location, return to tracks visited in prior years and change the schedule to start – and end – earlier,” Buydos reports. “Having the Drag Specialties name on the title sponsor banners lends an amazing amount of credibility to this series. They have been with us every step of the way since the inception, and the only way we can achieve this is with their support and the support of their vendors and dealers.” ■

2025 FATBOOK COVER BIKE
MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE — A FULLY LOADED LOW RIDER
Sometimes things aren’t always what they appear to be. For instance, consider Drag Specialties’ 2025 FatBook cover bike. At a quick glance it appears to be a typical eye-catching, bolt-on custom. Its styling theme borrows from the current Bagger Racer look, with a hint of old-school Pro Street styling tossed in.
The bike itself is a 2023 Harley-Davidson FXLRST Low rider Softail, a model that’s a favorite for any custom treatment today. This custom clearly embodies Drag Specialties’ slogan, “From Our Garage to Yours.”
Fittingly this Lowrider carries more than two dozen new and existing bolt-on aftermarket products listed in the 2025 FatBook. Beyond its custom treatment this Low rider retains its trademark bullnose wind fairing, handy quickdetachable saddlebags and blacked-out V-twin engine.
A closer look at the Low rider reveals more than a few interesting bolt-on custom features and subtle, yet distinct, modifications that bike builder Dan Cheeseman incorporated into the build. The custom transformation began shortly
Long known for high-end LED lighting, the team Custom Dynamics can now add custom bike builder to its resume. Rob Bluma and Dan Cheeseman built a FatBook cover bike that boasts Performance Bagger function and sharp good looks.
after the crew at North Carolina-based Custom Dynamics purchased the new Low rider from Suburban Motors in Wisconsin. Later the Low rider became a temporary resident at Cheeseman’s shop in Mitchell, South Dakota.
The build traces its origins to a casual conversation that Tom Motzko, who orchestrates display bike builds for Drag Specialties, had with former Drag regional sales manager Rob Bluma, who now represents Custom Dynamics. Bluma shared an idea about considering a bolt-on custom that Custom Dynamics could build for the 2025 FatBook cover. His plan included Cheeseman applying his building talents to the project, and Custom Dynamics shedding some light on the finished product.
Motzko initially raised an eyebrow, pointing out that Custom Dynamics is a company best known for its LED lighting accessories. Motzko’s concern was that the company doesn’t specialize in complete, ready-to-roll custom
motorcycles. Didn’t matter, Bluma politely countered, and the more that Motzko learned about Bluma’s idea, the better it sounded, especially considering that the Low rider is among Harley-Davidson’s most popular models for customizing. Plus, Motzko was familiar with Cheeseman’s previous motorcycle builds, so he had no problem with the choice of builder.
What you see on these pages and on the FatBook cover are the result of that conversation. So, let’s visit Cheeseman’s shop where most of the modifications took place. “I wanted to build a bike that was simple and clean,” he said, adding that it also shares the Pro Street look that was predominant when he began customizing Harleys.
IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS
Let’s take a closer look at the bike’s details, starting with the narrowed (by Cheeseman) Klock Werks Hugger front fender

Moose Racing Driver Footpegs provide a super stable platform.
Metzeler Cruisetec tires are wrapped around custom Slyfox wheels, with Performance Machine calipers and Slyfox rotors for serious stopping power.
While there were a couple one-off custom bits, this 2023 Low rider embodies Drag Specialties’ slogan, “From Our Garage to Yours” and is a full

Don’t be fooled by the fork’s stock appearance, though, because it’s packed with Legend Suspensions’ AXEO 43 front suspension kit to help smooth the ride. Legend’s Air-A Mono rear suspension kit serves as the Softail Lowrider’s OE rear shock absorber.
The Low rider rolls on special front and rear wheels wrapped with Metzler’s Cruisetec tires. The wheels have a rather interesting story of their own. Slyfox, a company deeply involved in Bagger racing, originally adapted its race-bred Track Pro wheels for the street, in this case a 19˝ x 3˝ front and 18˝ x 5.5˝ rear. The wheels originally fit late-model FL Harleys, but Cheeseman arranged with Slyfox to have the wheels assembled using custom hubs that enabled fitment to the LRST. The build features Slyfox’s Raw 2-piece front and rear brake rotors, both coupled with Radial 4-Piston brake calipers for increased stopping power.
You’ve probably noticed that the Low rider’s OE fairing lacks the “droopy” look normally associated with this generation Lowrider; the fairing on our featured cover bike sits level. For that subtle yet welcome feature, Dan fabricated new fairing mounts that help re-position the fairing to set it level. He also fabricated hidden supports so he could get rid of the OEM fairing bottom support bar. “I modified that before I realized that Paul Yaffe sells a similar Hidden Fairing Support setup,” he said. Lesson learned. Now Dan doesn’t hesitate to take a second look through the FatBook when chasing custom parts for projects!
Case in point. “I used a Yaffe Bagger Nation FX Rear Fender Kit to help smooth out the bike’s rear fender and saddlebag mounting system,” Cheeseman said. “I also modified the OE rear fender struts and bag mounting assembly to lower the bags about 1¼ inches. This also tucked both bags in about ¾ of an inch each. The Yaffe rear fender is longer than the OE rear fender, so viewed from the rear it matches the lowered bags better than stock. The lowered bags flow better with the rest of the bike’s lines.”
LET THERE BE LIGHT
For the Lowrider’s Custom Dynamics lightshow, Dan mounted Saddlebag LED taillights, placing them into the Filler Panels with custom trim plates. The lighting package also includes the company’s LED windshield trim, mesh fairing vent insert, fairing vent lights and LED front turn signals, a Shark Demon LED headlight, a LED Boltz Smart Triple Play signal conversion module, and a Triple Play extension wiring harness. To make sure there’s plenty of juice to feed those electrics, a brand new Drag Specialties Premium Performance battery now resides in the battery box.
Cheeseman also turned his attention to the gas tank, removing the original and unsightly dash, only to reveal an equally unsightly weld seam. That had to go, so he relocated the gas filler to the gas tank’s now-smoothed center top, shrouding it with a new permanent dash that began life as a Klock Werks Bagger dash that Cheeseman modified. He also added body lines for the OE side covers, and created raised panels that flow to match the side cover’s shape. The crowning touch is the Joker Machine Smooth gas cap.
Turning our attention to the Low rider’s powerplant, you might have noticed that this 2023 Low rider doesn’t sport its bone-stock Milwaukee-Eight engine. The heart of the modified M8 engine beats with an S&S Cycle 128˝ big-bore kit. Sitting atop the all-black cylinders are a set of Harley heads fully polished by Doug’s Custom Metal Polishing in Willowick, Ohio. Further assistance with the engine’s power facelift came at the hands of Chris Weber and his seasoned crew at Pico’s Garage in nearby Sioux Falls, South Dakota, who helped with re-assembly and tuning.
With the engine ready to fire up, it also got a FatBook makeover. The custom dressing included an LA Choppers’ raw derby cover, Performance Machine’s Vision Transmission side cover, Trask’s Assault Series cam cover, and a *(EMIS Code 4) CheckM8 transmission top cover. To keep engine oil fresh and clean, an Arlen Ness’ chrome reusable oil filter was employed. Intake and exhaust performance was ramped up, too, by matching a Kodlin USA *(EMIS Code 2) oval air cleaner kit with an S&S Superstreet 2-into-1 stainless steel exhaust system.
Finally, it was time for the bolt-on hand and foot controls and other trim items that help give the overall package its attitude. In the case of this Low rider, we can start with THRASHIN Supply’s pullback risers with gauge cutout, LA Choppers Valley bars, and Rough Crafts knurled hand grips. There are also Performance Machine radial clutch lever and brake master cylinder assemblies, a THRASHIN shift lever, a Joker Machine serrated shift peg, Moose Racing Driver footpegs, and an S&S Cycle mid-mount brake pedal.
Attach the Todd’s Cycle bar-end Shooter mirrors and you might say we’re looking good. But not quite. There’s one more item to get this cool Lowrider on the road –the seat. For that, Cheeseman and company opted for a Drag Specialties Seats Predator III with the popular Diamond Stitch pattern.
Tying all those hard parts and custom one-offs together is the Lowrider’s distinct tri-color paint job. Custom Dynamics’ Bluma and Cheeseman called on Jason Le Cavalier of Artisomo Customs in Waukesha, Wisconsin, to lay down the red, white and blue panels and trim lines that make this Harley stand out in any crowded parking lot or bike-night gathering.
Now it’s time to roll! Drag Specialties dealers can view the Lowrider at this year’s upcoming Louisville NVP, designated Drag Dealer open houses, bike shows and bike runs and anywhere else the road “From Our Garage To Yours” may take the 2025 FatBook cover bike. ■

Seat Options for Quick Customization Custom Meets Convenience
Helping your customers get a custom-style seat just got a lot easier and faster thanks to Saddlemen. Several of the options that were once only available through the Saddlemen custom seat program are now regular production seats, meaning they are in stock and ready to ship as soon as an order is placed.
Since the inception of the popular custom seat program, the team at Saddlemen has been keeping a close eye on what riders are ordering, and a few trends quickly began to stand out.
While the program gives riders the option to go as wild as they want to with the look of their seat, most riders have been choosing more straightforward options, like a simple change of thread color for the top stitching.
With that in mind, Saddlemen took the most popular custom seat requests and made them actual parts that are kept in stock. LeMans is carrying all of those new part numbers, giving V-Twin riders a way to instantly upgrade both the look of their bike as well as their comfort level.
In the past, it would have taken as much as 4-6 weeks for a custom seat to be built and delivered. With these new seats, a rider can get instant gratification – and an instant custom-style seat – by choosing a stocked part.
“Now there are more custom options in stock and ready to go,” says Rob Schlueter, Saddlemen VP of Design and Marketing. “It’s a great step to getting customers what they’re looking for faster.”
Saddlemen’s lattice stitch and honeycomb stitch are both popular choices, and in addition to the standard black stitching for them, riders can now order thread colors such as red, gold, orange and silver. All of these options add a pop of contrasting color without feeling over the top. It’s the perfect custom touch that a rider can get as soon as the next day.
A seat like Saddlemen’s popular Step-Up is a great example of the wealth of options available for a production part. The color of the seat, the fabric – including the Gripper cover for extra traction – the top-stitch style and even where the top stitching is located on the seat were already options. Now, a rider can choose the color of that top stitching, as well.
These new seats benefit more than the riders looking for that simple, instantaneous seat swap. “The custom seat program is still there for people who want something more bold,” Schlueter notes. “And, by taking some of these seats out of that production flow, it speeds up the custom program, too.”
Several options that were once only available through Saddlemen’s custom seat program are now regular production seats and are ready for when your customer wants them. This includes seat and backrest options in the popular honeycomb stitch.
One of Saddlemen’s slogans is “The Instant Upgrade” and now those upgraded seats are more available than ever. These seats include the company’s Gel-Core Technology that makes them incredibly comfortable.
The Saddlemen custom seat program remains as easy as it always has been. The dealer chooses the form for the customer’s desired seat style, then fills it out according to the customer’s wishes, from top-stitch style and thread color to custom embroidery. The form is then submitted to Drag Specialties like a regular order, and the dealer is provided with a price before the seat is built and shipped directly to the dealer.
Whether a rider chooses a production Saddlemen seat or something from the custom seat program, they can buy with full confidence that they’re getting the same high-quality Gel-Core Technology that has helped put Saddlemen on the map.
Gel-Core Technology is the blend of SaddleGel and UltraFoam that creates incredible comfort in every Saddlemen seat. Engineered to dampen, divert and deflect energy from the road, Gel-Core Technology allows the seat to conform to the rider’s body. Pressure points are reduced and those nagging “hot spots” that cause discomfort are eliminated. Short rides are more comfortable, but the benefits can especially be felt on long rides.
Saddlemen’s proprietary SaddleGel works with Ultra-Foam, which is as durable as it is comfortable. The foam undergoes a self-skinning process during molding, which seals the foam so it will resist water and other intrusive elements.
When compared to a stock foam seat, a seat with Gel-Core Technology enables a rider to comfortably stay on the road up to 400 percent longer, while generating up to 92 percent less road shock and 50 percent less road vibration.
Dealers heading to NVP in Louisville will be able to check out some of these new production-custom seats at the Saddlemen booth. Schlueter says, “Dealers have been asking for this kind of availability, and now they have it. Come check out all the color options and learn more about these new custom seats.” ■

50 YEARS OF FEULING
A LEGACY OF BULLETPROOF PERFORMANCE
The Feuling name is well known in the V-Twin world, where Feuling Parts oil pumps, camshafts, pushrods and other components help give your customers’ bikes bulletproof performance. What’s less known is the extent of Feuling founder Jim Feuling’s creativity and ingenuity. He was prodigious.
At the time of his death in 2002 at age 57, Jim held over 100 US patents, had developed new motorcycle and auto engines, set land speed and aviation-efficiency records, won engineering awards, and contributed to racing success from Bonneville to Monaco, in everything from NHRA drag racing to Formula One and Indy 500 competition. Feuling innovations permeate the internal-combustion world, and Jim’s technologies are still widely used in two- and fourwheeled production vehicles today.
“Jim was an inventor, philosopher and author, as well as a motorcycle and automobile designer,” says Luke Leatherman, president of Feuling Parts and a protégé of Jim’s
Fluid dynamics was Jim’s specialty, and he used his skill to develop a helmet for Formula 1 that reduced head buffeting and had as much as 40 percent less drag than conventional designs. The shapes, angles, and aerodynamic features that Jim debuted are ubiquitous in today’s full-face helmets.
The 4-valve Feuling X Rivera head for Harley’s Evolution engine etched the Feuling name on the V-Twin world. The head incorporated extensive patented port technology that dramatically increased flow, and it became a key ingredient in high-horsepower builds for the street and strip.
ABOVE AND RIGHT: You’re not hallucinating, that’s a three-cylinder Harley. Feuling’s W3 was as powerful as it was innovative, boasting 150 horsepower and 170 ft-lbs. of torque to the rear wheel. It was also exceptionally smooth and had a truly unique sound.
“Jim was an inventor, philosopher and author, as well as a motorcycle and automobile designer,” says Luke Leatherman of Feuling founder, Jim Feuling. Driven by creativity and ingenuity, Jim was a visionary with an unrestrained imagination.
starting in the mid ’90s. “Jim originally started designing exhaust systems, which led to him modifying and developing cylinder heads, which led to complete engines like the W3. The Feuling name isn’t known for exhausts, but that’s where the fluid dynamics experience began, and that’s where Jim became an expert.”
Expertise was only part of the equation. Jim’s imagination was unrestrained, allowing him to come up with original ideas. He also had the capability to prototype and test his ideas. It was a potent combination.
“Jim’s shop in Ventura, California was one of the only places in the U.S. where you could do clean-sheet engineering –conceptualize, design, build and test, all in one place,” Luke says. Feuling’s capabilities attracted the attention of many major auto manufacturers, who had a hard time thinking outside the box. Jim became their muse.
“They’d come to him with a problem or an objective, and he always delivered a solution.” By the mid ’90s, major manufacturers like Chrysler, John Deere, Ford, General Motors, Mazda, Mercedes Benz, and Nissan were licensing Jim’s engine technology.
“The auto industry was where the money was, but Jim always had a passion for motorcycles, especially land speed stuff,” Luke says. Jim had been riding and racing his entire life, and in 1997 he piloted his streamliner to a world-record-setting 332.1 mph run at Bonneville. “Jim was the designer and driver,” Luke explains. “He liked to say that he was the only person besides Henry Ford to have built a vehicle fully in house and then raced it.”
“The V-Twin thing kicked into high gear when Harley was developing the Twin Cam engine in the late ’90s. They were

Land speed held a special place in Jim’s heart. He competed at Bonneville many times, and set many records. His single-engine streamliner ran a recordsetting 332.103 mph thanks to a powerful engine, exceptionally low weight, and excellent aerodynamics. He clocked in at an unofficial 370 mph on his return run.
melting engine parts during hot-weather testing,” recalls Luke. “The chief engineer on the project had worked with Jim on some GM programs and asked him for help. Jim redesigned the oiling system and made some adjustments to the head and exhaust port that solved the heat problems. That work with the oiling system led to the original Feuling oil pumps and got the ball rolling on Feuling’s V-Twin aftermarket lineup.”
Of all of Jim’s inventions, the 4-valve head for the Evolution engine is likely his best known. “It took over drag racing and was used in NHRA race bikes for years,” Luke says. The design was way ahead of its time, about 30 years ahead, in fact. In 2017, when Harley rolled out the Milwaukee-Eight engine, it was running a head very similar to the concept Feuling had perfected decades earlier.
Jim’s oil pumps and lifters for the Twin Cam, and we worked off of that, using our knowledge to develop more products.”
Then, there’s the mind-bending W3. “Jim had worked with Ford on its modular engine designs, where the 4-, 6-, 8- and 10-cylinder motors used the same major components, simplifying manufacturing,” Luke says. “He applied that to Harley and came up with the W3, a three-cylinder version of the then-new 88. It was 150 cubic inches and 150 horsepower, and could be built with just a handful of new components.”
Jim produced about 20 W3s, which required a custom frame, but going from an R&D facility and mindset to a production mindset was a difficult transition. At the same time, a licensing lawsuit with Mercedes Benz was siphoning off mental and financial resources. Then, Jim was diagnosed with cancer.
Jim Feuling, the intrepid visionary, passed away on December 4, 2002. Jim’s business ventures were split up, and Luke and two partners took the helm of the V-Twin segment. “That’s when we created Feuling Parts,” Luke says. “We had
Optimizing one component often reveals the shortcomings of corresponding parts, so Luke and his team branched out into the engine to develop cam plates, rockers and a vast catalog of cams.
“Jim knew that you never really had an answer until you tried something. He was diligent about only evaluating one thing at a time,” Luke says. “That’s a time-consuming and painstaking way to do things, but that’s how you get real data and results. It’s how we continue to run Feuling today.” Operating out of Oceanside, California, Feuling Parts has all the equipment to continue Jim’s legacy of envisioning, designing, building and testing products.
Those parts are being developed with the same creativity, diligence and determination that Jim first brought to bear in 1974. Fifty years on, Luke and his team at Feuling Parts are dedicated to carrying on Jim’s legacy, and the V-Twin world – and the world of internal combustion – is better because of it. ■
Jim Feuling worked extensively with Oldsmobile, and developed a 2.0L twin-turbo version of the Quad 4 engine that produced 1,270 hp. Jim’s “BE” engine was used in the Aerotech concept car, which set a Flying Mile speed record of 267.339 mph.
Drop-In Engine Upgrades Parts with
Center-Cooled Compatibility
The new center-cooled designation for some 2023 and 2024 HarleyDavidson models is confusing people,” says Luke Leatherman, head honcho at Feuling Parts. “We want to clear the air and let everyone know that our parts for the existing water-cooled bikes are compatible with the new center-cooled engines.”
That means Feuling’s excellent oil pumps, cam plate, lifters, and pushrods for the previous water-cooled Ultras and CVOs will bolt into the new center-cooled motors found in the new CVO Street Glides and CVO Road Glides.
protecting crucial engine parts, but it also helps the engine run cooler.
If your center-cooled customers are looking to boost power, Feuling’s various performance lifters and pushrods are drop-in options. So are some of Feuling’s larger *(EMIS Code 3) cams, including the 508, 521, and even 538 cams. “Previously you could only go to 487 due to spring travel, but the center-cooled engines have longer-travel springs, so there’s room for more lift,” says Leatherman.
Even with the cooling-system update, these new models will still benefit from the cooler running provided by a Feuling high-flow oil pump and cam plate. Feuling’s components increase oil pressure, flow, and scavenging compared to the factory parts. That’s important for
Harley’s mid-year roll-out of the centercooled engine may be throwing some folks for a loop, but rest assured Feuling has assessed the new motor and knows which parts will work in it. ■

Lighting the 2025 FatBook Cover Bike
Check out the front end of this year’s FatBook cover bike, and you’ll see how much Custom Dynamics has contributed to the 2023 Low Rider Softail built by Drag Specialties and Dan Cheeseman. In all, nine Custom Dynamics part numbers were used in the build.
“It’s an honor for us at Custom Dynamics to work on this with our partners at Drag Specialties,” says Rob Bluma, Chief Sales Officer of Custom Dynamics. “Over the past 14 years, I have worked with Tom Motzko on so many of these projects, and it feels good for him to give us a shot at it. We as a company take a lot of pride in being exclusive with Drag Specialties and Parts Unlimited.”
Bluma was also excited to work with Dan Cheeseman. He relates, “Dan and I working together was like a dream. We have so many years of combined experience, so it was very easy and fun.”
Ultimately, an array of Custom Dynamics lighting products were chosen for the Softail to make sure it got the performance lighting it deserves.
The plug-and-play Shark Demon 2 headlight offers high-performance illumination produced by three projection-style LEDs. Another four direct-reflective LEDs kick in when the high beam is engaged, resulting in an impressive 3216 effective lumens. The gloss black aluminum housing matches the other Custom Dynamics products on the Softail for a cohesive look.
The dark windshield on the Softail is the perfect spot for another bright pop of illumination, this time with the
Custom Dynamics LED Windshield Trim. The low-profile metal housing and smoked lens blend into the windshield. A single row of dual-color LEDs provides a bright white daytime running light, while the full-contrast amber turn signals utilize one of three built-in modes, including solid on, sequential on or sequential off flashing.
Speaking of turn signals, the Custom Dynamics Performance LED Front Turn Signals are compact but bright. Since the units are a direct replacement for the OEM turn signals, the plug-and-play installation instantly changes the look of a bike’s front end.
Fairing vents are a great place to add additional lighting. In addition to filling in all that blank space, the Custom Dynamics Amber/White Fairing Vent Lights add a single row of dual-color LEDs for additional front-end illumination. The bright white daytime running lights and full-contrast amber turn signals give the FatBook cover bike a subtle but brilliant touch of extra lighting.
“The whole team at Custom Dynamics had an influence on this collaboration as well, from Dave our Owner and Megan our Business Manager, and everyone in between, this was a true team effort,” says Bluma. “We really need to give a shout out to all the vendors who partnered on this bike – they were amazing, as always. Lastly this bike doesn’t jump off the page without paint, and Jason, the owner of Artismo, is amazing.” ■

Past and Present A Tire Company’s Balanced Branding
When a company has been around for as long as Avon Motorcycle Tyres, it can be a challenge to find the right blend between honoring the company’s legacy and keeping an eye toward its future. But take a look at the new branding for Avon, and it’s clear the updated messaging has found that balance between the old and the new.
The new branding for Avon includes the tagline “Made to be Different,” which is a nod to both how Avon has been doing things since 1904 as well as how the company approaches tire design today.
“Working on brand assets always constitutes a challenge, because it means distilling core brand elements without compromising the past,” says Roberto Finetti, Marketing Manager Motorcycle for Avon. “We believe we have achieved our goal of leveraging the brand heritage, while at the same time projecting the brand into the future.”
That heritage can be seen in some of the most popular Avon tires today, such as the Cobra Chrome tire for the Cruiser, Touring and Custom segments. The Cobra Chrome tire is a superb example of Avon’s updated branding, which focuses on the company’s history as well as its ability to deliver tires featuring outstanding quality at a fair price point.
The snakeskin tread and iconic Cobra emblem make these tires a standout, especially the whitewall version that adds to the visual effect and classic styling. At the same time, the design and technology results in reliable traction and durability, plus shorter stopping distances, even in the wet.
Riders and custom bike builders alike rave about the style and performance aspects of the Cobra Chrome tire, and they are seen on everything from custom V-Twins to stunt bikes. As part of Avon’s updated branding, the Cobra Chrome tire has the new tagline “Made to Stand Out.” For all the custom builders who already turn to Avon as their go-to tire supplier, though, they don’t need a tagline to know the Cobra Chrome tire has a unique style.
For those who want to lean into the vintage look, the SpeedMaster MkII front tire is a popular choice. This tire maintains the original look of the SpeedMaster but with modern performance characteristics and sizing. The curved tread profile and ribbed pattern is all classic motorcycle tire, but the handling, durability and wetweather performance are all modern.
Avon has tires across all categories of riding, and as Finetti says, every tire is “a product you can rely on to perform well and keep you safe in all conditions, with a heritage name that stands for what it always stood for – great quality at a fair price.” ■

Taking the Guesswork out of Oil Changes The Complete Package
Something as essential as an oil change shouldn’t be complicated, so Maxima created its V-Twin Oil Change Kits. “It takes the guesswork out of oil changes,” says Trevor Reis, Maxima’s Brand Manager and the guy who helped spearhead not only the Oil Change Kits, but the ProFilter oil filters within them.
“Honestly, with these available, and considering the quality of Maxima’s V-Twin Oil and ProFilter filters, I’m not sure why someone would still opt to buy everything individually,” Reis says.
Forget looking up the oil weight and quantity, the part number for the oil filter and drain-plug gasket, and walking around to pull each part. Maxima’s V-Twin Oil Change Kits package everything that’s needed for an oil change into one box with one part number. Kits are available in Quick Change and Full Change formats for Harley applications dating back to the early 1980s.
The Quick Change kit is designed for regular engineoil changes and includes the appropriate quantity of Maxima’s V-Twin Full Syn 20W-50 or V-Twin Mineral 20W50 (depending on OEM recommendation), plus a new drain-plug O-ring and a ProFilter premium spin-on filter in black or chrome.
When the engine, transmission, and primary all need attention there’s the Full Change Kit. This package not only includes engine oil and an oil filter, but Maxima’s V-Twin Primary oil and V-Twin Transmission gear oil as required. With the Full Change Kit, the engine gets fresh fluid all around.
“Protecting the engine and your customer’s investment is Maxima’s priority,” Reis says. “To that end, we developed these fluids specifically for V-Twin engines and their unique operating conditions. The formulas are tailored to protect a V-Twin’s moving parts, reduce friction, and help the engine run cooler. That’s what separates Maxima’s V-Twin line from conventional ‘good enough’ engine oil,” he explains.
That same commitment also applies to the ProFilter oil filters included in Maxima’s Oil Change Kits, and Reis should know since he was hired to develop them. “The filters were designed from the ground up,” he says. “It really was a step-by-step development process to ensure we brought a filter to the market that was built to our high standards.”
ProFilter oil filters offer extended oil-change intervals thanks to M-Pleat Technology, a unique folding pattern for the filtering media that increases surface area without inhibiting oil flow. They also feature a heat-resistant silicone anti-drainback valve, and have a canister weld pattern that ensures maximum strength and reliability. ProFilter filters even have a 17mm nut on the end to facilitate removal. ■

V-Twin Trio Oil Options for Harley Engines
also reducing noise. It is suitable for all operating conditions.
Choosing the right motor oil begins with knowing which oils are suitable for the type of bike being serviced. For V-Twins, LIQUI MOLY has three oils that work well with the demands of V-Twin engines. A performance-minded synthetic oil, a synthetic oil formulated to suit Harley-Davidsons, and a reliable mineral-based oil make up the trio of LIQUI MOLY oils that can keep V-Twin engines clean and performing well.
LIQUI MOLY’s Motorbike 4T Synth SAE 10W-60 Street
Race oil is a fully synthetic formulation designed for high-performance use. It was developed and tested on race bikes, meaning it can withstand even the most aggressive riding situations. In addition to providing outstanding engine cleanliness, the oil also ensures excellent lubrication and wear protection. Friction is reduced, and riders will notice smoother clutch operation as well as easy shifting between gears.
Many Harley riders are looking for the benefits of a synthetic motor oil, but don’t require high-performance aspects. For them, the LIQUI MOLY Motorbike HD Synth SAE 20W-50 Street oil is an ideal choice. This fully synthetic motor oil is especially suitable for Harley engines, working well as both primary and transmission oil.
The HD Synth oil is formulated to resist wear and high temperatures, even under extreme operating conditions. This durability is one of the things that makes the oil such
a perfect pairing with Harley engines. At the same time, the oil provides the lubrication, cleaning and protection one would expect from any LIQUI MOLY oil.
The third LIQUI MOLY motor oil option for Harleys is the Motorbike 4T SAE 20W-50 Street mineral-based oil. This oil is designed to provide reliable lubrication and lower wear while also reducing noise. The high wear resistance and high shear stability make this oil suitable for all operating conditions.
No matter which oil is chosen, riders and dealers can both be assured that every LIQUI MOLY product undergoes rigorous testing and development to ensure it provides the quality and reliability V-Twin engines deserve.
“Our LIQUI MOLY products have been tested in numerous laboratory, field and practical tests,” says Steffen Niemietz, Application Engineer at LIQUI MOLY. “They are made with ingredients of highest quality and guarantee that the engine will operate with lowest wear and best possible efficiency.”
Choosing the correct LIQUI MOLY motor oil for any V-Twin is as easy as checking the company’s online oil guide. All available options meet or exceed the manufacturer’s specifications for a particular bike. ■

Pro Street Performance and Handling
When Custom Dynamics’ Rob Bluma and Dan Cheeseman were building the 2025 FatBook cover bike, they opted for Metzeler’s Cruisetec tires for front and rear. Not only did they complete the look of the build, but also provided the handling needed for the highperformance custom.
Tand grip and the ability to deliver the high horsepower of the S&S Cycle big bore motor to the tarmac.
The team chose the Cruisetec tires for their outstanding performance handling characteristics, profile and grip.
“Metzeler is one of the most popular brands in the Harley market,” Dan Cheeseman explains. “I like the profile of the Cruisetecs, and they complete the bike’s pro-street vibe.”
Metzeler designed the Cruisetec line to enhance each V-Twin motorcycle’s handling characteristics by pairing sport-touring tire profiles with ultra-durable outer carcasses. These large, heavy machines require a tire designed to withstand the high demands of modern V-Twins, which makes Cruisetecs ideal for custom builds like the Lowrider ST cover bike.
he pros at Custom Dynamics were honored and excited when offered the opportunity to design and build the 2025 Drag Specialties FatBook catalog cover bike. When it came time to create the list of bolt-on parts from Drag Specialties, Custom Dynamics chose Metzeler’s Cruisetec™ performanceperfected V-Twin tires for the custom masterpiece.
Dan Cheeseman and Rob Bluma of Custom Dynamics decided on the Harley-Davidson Lowrider ST as the build platform for its market appeal and the selection of parts available from the FatBook. They intended to showcase bolt-on components from Drag Specialties vendors like Metzeler mixed with custom elements so that when customers see the bike, they think, “That could be mine with a few upgrades.”
Custom Dynamics modified and mounted the front fender tight to the Cruisetec 110/90-19 front tire and paired it with a 180/70-16 Cruisetec rear for enhanced handling
The blackwall Cruisetec tires also contrast nicely with the bike’s polished wheels, swingarm and exhaust, which, combined with the Drag Specialtiesthemed paint colors, gives the motorcycle a factory race bike appearance.
The team at Custom Dynamics focused on bridging the gap between custom and factory throughout the build.
“When someone looks at one of the bikes and says, ‘That’s how it should have come from the factory,’ we know we’ve done our job,”’ Cheeseman adds.
The 2025 FatBook cover bike is a testament to the years of experience the Custom Dynamics team has in the industry.
It’s a stunning bike that retains the recognizable lines of a stock Lowrider ST while incorporating custom personal touches and premium parts from Drag Specialties.
Team Custom Dynamics attributes a large part of the build’s success to the FatBook and brands like Metzeler.
“Having everything in one place, from trusted vendors like Metzeler, makes projects like these so much easier,” Cheeseman adds. ■

High-Performance Oil for V-Twins
There was a time when the words “racing” and “Bagger bikes” weren’t heard together. These days, as V-Twins continue to be refined and Bagger racing gains competitors and fans at a rapid pace, it’s a lot more common to focus on the performance aspects of V-Twins.
That’s where a product like Motul’s TWIN 20W50 Engine Oil comes into the conversation. This highperformance oil is specially formulated for the high temperatures and extreme conditions found in big, air-cooled twins, and its triple-synthetic formulation is designed to keep a bike performing at its peak. These bikes are demanding even in their stock configurations, but add in custom aftermarket engine components and fine-tuning to get the most horsepower possible out of the engine, and it becomes even more important to have an oil that can stand up to the operating conditions.
Ideal for use in
keeps engines clean, protected and performing at an optimum level.
“Our Motul TWIN 20W50 Engine Oil is designed to withstand these added stresses, offering superior protection against engine wear, increased viscosity stability, heat resistance, and excellent friction reduction,” says Darwyn Yager, Motul Trade Marketing Manager – Powersports.
“This ensures that high-pressure components like pistons, camshafts and bearings are adequately lubricated, preventing premature wear or engine failure.”
Ideal for use in M8, Twin-Cam and Evolution engines, the TWIN 20W50 Engine Oil begins with a premium base oil offering, combined with a superior additive package that assists in keeping engines clean, protected and performing at an optimum level. Motul uses molecular bonding technology, which allows the oil to cling to metal parts. This creates a protective film over the parts within the motor, which in turn provides proper lubrication on startup, reducing metal-to-metal friction, and thus helping minimize wear at startup.
Motul’s involvement in the King of the Baggers series offered the company an opportunity to develop a V-Twin engine oil – TWIN 20W50 – that meets the needs of high-performance V-Twins.
“With the performance Bagger movement currently a trend within the industry, having an oil that can withstand the higher engine temperatures and added pressures that are being created is extremely important,” Yager says.
Motul relies on the toughest of proving grounds to refine its TWIN 20W50 Engine Oil: the racetrack. Motul uses its motorsports involvement to test its oils, and that results in reliable, high-quality products that customers know they can count on.
Yager says, “Our involvement as the Official Lubricant of the MotoAmerica King of the Baggers series, while also partnering with championship-contending race teams such as Vance & Hines Racing, Saddlemen Racing Development and Roland Sands Design, has allowed us to test and develop a superior V-Twin engine oil that provides our customers the confidence they need while out on the road.” ■

The Art of Engagement
Robust New Clutch Components
The Barnett name has been synonymous with motorcycle clutch components, cables and tools since the company’s inception in 1948. Seventy-six years later, Barnett Tool & Engineering is still going strong with a product line that includes Made in the USA clutch kits, clutch components and tools, control cables and stainless steel brake lines for Harley-Davidson models.
For 2025, Barnett continues to add to its growing line of Scorpion Harley product offerings with new billet clutch baskets, clear derby covers and low-profile lock-up clutches for select Big Twin and Sportster models.
Barnett has the fix with its new Scorpion billet clutch baskets for customers with a broken or worn-out clutch basket in their 2007-2024 Harley Big Twin. Each basket is machined in from 2024-T3 billet aluminum for superior quality, fit and finish and then hard anodized for increased durability. The result is a cost-effective solution for a broken or stock clutch
basket replacement. Installation is as easy as removing the stock basket and bolting on the new Barnett Scorpion basket using the included hardware and instructions.
Barnett’s new Scorpion Series clear derby covers replace the stock primary covers on 1990-2016 Harley Big Twins, 2018-2024 Softails, and 2015-2024 FL models with the narrow primary. Each derby cover features a ¼-inch thick clear polycarbonate circular window that allows one to view the clutch in action. The window is firmly secured and sealed to the derby cover with an O-ring gasket, and is scratch- and discoloration-resistant.
The cover is CNC machined from billet aluminum with a chrome or black powder coat finish. For those customers looking to add a bit of attention-grabbing swagger, Barnett’s Scorpion derby covers make for an easy add-on sale for V-Twin dealers.
Also new for 2025 are the Scorpion low profile lock-up clutches for Big Twins and Sportster models. Lock-up clutches progressively increase clutch pressure as rpms increase for smooth shifting and engagement.
Scorpion lock-up kits feature a low-profile billet aluminum lock-up pressure plate and steel hub with increased surface area and capacity over stock. Phone and Drink Holders for the Road
Almost everyone is guilty of the familiar pocket pat down as they get ready to leave the house, running through a quick checklist of “phone, keys, wallet…” in their head. Your customers’ phones go everywhere with them, including on the bike. Thankfully, the pros at Ciro have introduced a second generation of the Cybercharger® Phone Holder that will have riders wondering how they ever got by without it.
Ciro’s GEN 2 Cybercharger is the evolution of the brand’s popular phone holder that features an integrated 15-watt fast charger. The versatility and simplicity of the Cybercharger is what really makes it shine, offering compatibility with virtually any of the latest smartphones.
A proprietary design allows the Cybercharger to securely grip your customers’ phones while on the go, including compact, rubber-lined arms, an adjustable foot base and an ambidextrous lever that can easily be switched from left or right to accommodate whichever side the rider prefers. Plus, these are designed for use specifically with Ciro’s GEN 2 mount, a system designed for an even more secure grip and simpler, expanded adjustability for ease of rider access and viewing.
“Our GEN 2 mounting system was engineered with increased thread pitch and larger wings on the collet nut to provide an even firmer grip and increased torque ability. Whether it’s a Drink Holder for the long haul or a Cybercharger Phone Holder to keep their devices powered, it’s all about the rider enjoying their journey,” said Ciro’s Stephanie Shulz.
Customers have options with the GEN 2 Cybercharger mounts as well, including an aluminum bar clamp mount, mirror mount or offset lever perch mount. This variety of mounting options make it easy to offer your customers a solution that will work with their bar and controls setup without needing to make any major changes.

NProblem Solvers
High-Quality, Engineered Solutions
oisy, rough starter operation and an oil-soaked air filter are two problems that can plague Harley-Davidson M8 customers. The stock compensator is prone to wear that manifests as a metal-on-metal clatter, and the M8’s stock plastic head breathers can struggle to keep oil vapor out of the airbox. S&S Cycle offers solutions for these issues with its Billet Head Breathers and new Heavy Duty Compensator Ramp for 2017 through 2024 M8 models.
The compensator plays a critical role in a Harley’s driveline, acting as a shock absorber between the crankshaft’s massive power pulses and everything that’s downstream. This part is essential in protecting the primary chain, clutch and transmission, and the stock component doesn’t always do the job, especially in big-inch builds.
The fix for the M8’s chronic breather problem are S&S Cycles’ *(EMIS Code 3) Billet Head Breathers. Suitable for 2017 through 2024 M8 models (except 2023-’24 CVO and 2024 Street Glide/Road Glides), these parts are more durable than the stock components, with better sealing and superior oil separation for increased engine performance and reliability.
The factory breathers are injection-molded plastic, and they mate to the head with a single O-ring. Inside there’s mesh that’s supposed to catch oil vapor, similar to the way an air filter catches dirt. However, once that mesh gets saturated it struggles to do its job, and the plastic housing can warp and crack due to extreme heat and vibration.
The S&S Billet Head Breathers are machined from billet 6061 aluminum, so they’re not going to crack. They also
To address this weak link in the M8 platform, S&S developed its Heavy Duty Compensator Ramp, which is built to handle the demands of upgraded horsepower and torque. Compared to the rough cast finish of the stock part, S&S’s Compensator Ramp resembles the polished marble of a sculpture. That’s because it’s fully machined from 9000 Series steel, resulting in an incredibly tough, smooth finish that allows the compensator to do its job better. This Heavy Duty Compensator Ramp ensures longlasting performance and peace of mind, and is available for 2017 through 2024 M8 Touring models and 2018 through 2024 Softails.
use an internal labyrinth rather than a mesh, so saturation isn’t an issue and oil pass-through is all but eliminated. On top of that, the Breather Blocks are sporting double O-rings for optimal sealing.
Head breathers don’t get much attention until they fail or cause problems, and the same can be said for the compensator. Whether your customers are already struggling with oil pass-through and scary noises coming from the primary or they just want to avoid ever having those issues, S&S Cycle offers a solution. ■

Simplified Storage
More Options, More Affordability
Since 2017, THRASHIN Supply Company has offered excellent, low-key luggage for your customers’ Harley-Davidsons. Throw-over options like the Essential Saddlebags, Escape Saddlebags and Expedition Saddlebags are super popular, and they’ve evolved over the years to offer more features and functionality. Now, THRASHIN is launching some simplified bags based on its existing models – the Mini Essential Base Saddlebags, the Essential Base Saddlebags and the Escape Base Saddlebags.
Inspired by many trips to Sturgis and thousands of street miles, THRASHIN’s luggage lineup was born from the need for “bags that weren’t too big or too small, were easy to put on and take off, and look good on the bike,” says THRASHIN owner Lance Coury. These new Base bags carry on that tradition, but offer a streamlined look as well as a more affordable price tag.
The new Mini Essential Saddlebags were designed for the smaller motorcycles, primarily the Sportster models. The THRASHIN team shrank the Minis so they’ll accommodate stock turn signals on more compact machines, yet the bags are still large enough to carry a windbreaker, gloves and a drink. The Mini Essential Base Saddlebags offer 8 liters of capacity without adding visual bulk to smaller bikes.
Then, there’s the Essential Base and Escape Base bags. “These are stripped-down versions of our original saddle -
bags, which give the bags themselves a sleek minimalist look,” says Coury.
The Essentials offer the same 10-liters of combined storage as the original bags, making them perfect for weekend trips or longer day rides. For a little more space, THRASHIN has the new Escape Base Saddlebags. With a combined 18 liters of capacity, these bags have enough room to accommodate road trips or hauling larger cargo around town.
Built using THRASHIN’s tried-and-true construction techniques, these new bags use tough 1680 Denier ballistic nylon that features a stubble black-on-black THRASHIN print on the rear. “These also have a simple feature that adds style and makes it easier to spot things inside the bag,” says Coury of the bags’ hi-viz orange interior. “ The orange makes stuff so much easier to see, even at night.”
Designed for easy-on, easy-off use, these tidy bags fit a variety of models and include mounting brackets for secure attachment. Molle straps on the top of the lids make adding THRASHIN’s accessories easy, and these bags are designed to integrate with THRASHIN’s Strap Kit & Passenger Bag for a fully modular luggage system that adapts to your customers’ needs. With these simpler storage options, your customers can tap into THRASHIN build quality and style more affordably. ■

Seat Options for 2024 Touring Models Riding Easy
One of the most important aspects of a Touring bike is the seat, especially since comfort is a must for those long days on the road. Now, Drag Specialties has updated fitments to include 2024 Harley-Davidson FL Touring models.
In all, there are 20 new part numbers for 2024 Touring models, meaning riders have plenty of choices in style and finish. This allows riders to customize the look of their bike while getting the height, length, stitching style and color they want. As an added bonus, performance-minded riders will appreciate that these seats weigh less than the stock seat.
Drag Specialties Seats Product Specialist Garen Altman sums it up, saying, “Whether you’re riding solo, 2-up, are tall or short, Drag Specialties Seats has got you covered.”
A Drag seat like the Predator III is a great example of this variety of options. In addition to its standard design, the Predator III is also available as a 2-up seat, plus there is an Extended Reach option.
Each Predator III seat, regardless of which version a Touring rider chooses, features a contoured seating area for premium comfort. The front of the seat is narrow to provide better leg clearance for a comfortable stance both riding and when a rider’s feet are on the ground. The driver back support, which is more than 6 inches tall, adds both a bold dash of style as well as improved ergonomics.
Stitch finishes for these latest Drag Specialties seats include smooth and Double Diamond, and there are multiple thread colors to choose from. Seat cover options include both automotive-grade vinyl as well as slip-stop PVC for improved grip.
Another seat cover option is Drag’s solar-reflective leather. This unique material doesn’t absorb heat the same way regular leather or vinyl seat covers do, which is especially beneficial in the summertime. The effect can be compared to feeling like the bike has been parked in the shade.
As with all other Drag Specialties seats, these 2024 Touring fitments begin with an ABS thermoformed seat base for a perfect fit on the bike. Underneath, carpeting and rubber bumpers make sure paint is well protected.
Plus, the seats are made in the USA, as they have been since the inception of Drag Specialties Seats. “For over 55 years Drag Seats have been handcrafted right here

A Big Range of Cable and Brake Line Options
agnum Shielding has made several changes and additions to its cable and brake line offerings in response to Harley-Davidson’s own specification changes, popular demand, and long-standing challenges that required new innovations to solve.
For 2023 CVO and 2024 Touring models, Harley changed the diameter of the ¼ inch hard tubing on the lower brake lines to 6 mm. The Motor Company also changed the triple tree clamshell bracket where these are mounted, so the new brackets will not work with older lines.
In response, Magnum Shielding also switched tube diameters for 2024 fitments, which means that your cus tomers can continue to use the stock clamshell bracket. Otherwise, everything would have to be clamped or cable-tied together, which is certainly not a clean look and a hassle to accomplish.
In another change, Magnum rolled out new barrel end clutch inner cable fittings which replaced the long-used ring terminals on the 2023 and up CVO and standard Glides. Magnum’s new cable offerings include bent tube and standard end cap options with Quick Connect fittings for compatibility with the OE lower clutch cable.
Magnum has always offered products that maximize compatibility and customizability, but finding the balance between an exact-fit stock replacement and offering a wide variety of alternate lengths and finishes can be a challenge.
Magnum innovated a solution to this in the form of its Designer Series brake lines nearly 20 years ago, and has now applied this concept to rear brake lines for M8 Softails and 2014 to 2023 Touring models. The modular system enables your customers to swap out the lengths of the flexible line.
For example, if a customer changes their swingarm or goes to radial brakes, they can then customize with standard upper line part numbers by picking out a different banjo angle and length. The same is true for extended forward controls. Just choose a different length universal brake line.
Speaking of universal lines, Magnum Shielding has also added universal brake lines in its economically priced XR Stainless series in direct response to dealer requests. They are available in clear or black coated stainless-steel braid with chrome fittings or black on black, with a wide selection of lengths from 15 inches to 72 inches. ■

Race-Grade Exhaust for Baggers
The Bassani name has been a recognized, trusted leader in designing and manufacturing specialized exhaust systems and components since the late Darryl Bassani first started building motorcycle exhaust systems in 1969. Throughout the company’s rich history, Bassani has designed and fabricated countless exhaust systems and race components for 2-stroke and 4-stroke machines and occasionally worked with factory race teams.
Most famously, the company has been channeling its 55 years of accumulated knowledge and experience into developing exhaust systems and accessories for the V-Twin market. Bassani’s reputation for cutting-edge exhaust technology for professional racers and street riders in the growing cruiser market has resulted in over 100 different systems for Harley-Davidson models.
One such product is Bassani’s new *(EMIS Code 3) midlength 2-into-1 Road Rage Superbike stainless steel exhaust system for Harley-Davidson M8 Bagger models. This full system includes front and rear head pipes, a collector muffler with baffle and end cap, front and rear partial stainless heat shields, 18mm oxygen sensor plugs, and any necessary mounting hardware. The included Pro Comp baffle delivers a more aggressive, full-throated sound that’s one of a kind. Each Road Rage Superbike exhaust is TIG-welded by hand and uses a 1¾-inch diameter head pipe that steps up to
17/8 inches upon entering the inner collector for optimal flow and boosted overall performance. The inner collector is welded to each header, merging seamlessly with the 11-inch-long, 4-inch-diameter muffler, which is then welded to the collector to ensure a leak-free finish. A matching conical aluminum end cap and stainless steel Bassani logo badge finish off the muffler.
After installing the system, riders can expect a noticeable improvement in horsepower and torque. It’s a visually stunning, clean exhaust install fully exposed on the right side that tucks nicely underneath the stock saddlebags. It’s an ultra trick-looking system with a factory racer touch that riders will want to show off to their riding buddies at pre-ride bench racing sessions.
The Road Rage Superbike system fits 2017-2024 Harley M8 bagger models. (Note that CVO models require Bassani’s Half-Inch Spacer Kit, sold separately as Drag Specialties p/n 09-0121.) The kit provides better spacing between the right-side floorboard, brake lever and front exhaust down tube on CVO models. Bassani proudly makes the Road Rage Superbike System in the USA, like all of its exhaust products. ■

Easy Upgrades Products for the Latest Touring Models
Something new is always in the works at Kodlin USA, and lately, the company’s product development team has been heavily focused on upgrades for mid-2023 and 2024 Harley-Davidson Touring bikes. By focusing on this recent crop of VVT-style Touring models, Kodlin USA can help customers elevate the look of their new bikes.
Among the latest products for these Touring Bikes – including 2024 Street Glide and Road Glide FLHX/FLTRX models, 2023-2024 CVO Street Glide and Road Glide FLHXSE/FLTRXSE models and 2024 CVO Road Glide ST FLTRXSTSE models – are a latch cover, water reservoir cover and air cleaner.
“I am always extremely excited about the challenge to design products for new Harley models,” says Len Kodlin, Co-Founder and VP Design at Kodlin USA Inc. “The new Harley-Davidson Touring bikes are great, and I love the opportunities they offer for customization. We are very proud to see some of our new parts on these bikes.”
The Kodlin “New Style” latch cover is CNC-machined from billet aluminum, then topped off with a black anodized or chrome finish. A pair of these latch covers replace the stock plastic covers, giving saddlebags an instant upgrade in both looks and functionality. Plastic parts are more likely to break, while these aluminum latch covers are sturdy and dependable.
oval air cleaner comes with a high-performance K&N air filter, which provides as much as 50 percent more airflow compared to a stock filter.
Riders have been vocal about their feelings for the stock water reservoir on the newer Touring models, with the general consensus being that it’s lacking in the looks department. Kodlin was quick to provide an alternative, designing a water reservoir cover that has the style and finish riders want. And, since the cover comes with all the hardware necessary for installation, swapping from the stock option to this style-minded version is easy to do.
The Kodlin *(EMIS Code 2) oval air cleaner is another way to level up the looks of a Touring bike while also providing some extra airflow for the engine. The air cleaner comes with a high-performance K&N air filter, which provides as much as 50 percent more airflow compared to a stock filter. And, since the filter is removable and washable, it’s easy to keep the clean air flowing.
Like the latch cover, the water reservoir cover and air cleaner are made from CNC-machined billet aluminum, and finish options include black or chrome. They can all be used on a bike to create a cohesive, custom look, and there are plenty of other Kodlin products that coordinate with them. ■

CATCHING UP WITH THE 2024 KOTB CHAMPION
Brian J. Nelson photo
There are more questions than answers as the countdown to the opening round of the 2025 MotoAmerica Mission King of the Baggers Championship at Daytona International Speedway looms. One question that’s been answered is that Australian Troy Herfoss will be back to defend his 2024 class championship on his S&S Cycle/Indian Motorcycle Challenger. Here’s more on his season.
What was it like starting your firstever MotoAmerica season last year on the high banks of Daytona?
“It was really daunting. It was super scary for me to go around the banking in the first set of practice knowing that I had 20 minutes to learn the track and then go into qualifying. You definitely skip a few levels. To go to Daytona and not have any practice really, just straight into it. You’re doing such high speeds, and I didn’t pay any thought to anything except going as fast as I could.”
How important was it to get off to a good start to show everyone you were for real?
“It was a special feeling to be able to be competitive right away. It was a lot of fun, to be honest. I always pride myself on being well-prepared and always putting a big effort in. It’s taken me a lot of years to get out of Australia to do a bit of riding internationally and show what I’ve got, but it was really exciting and nerve-racking for me to get through Daytona.”
There was a point in the season when things looked rough after you started your rookie season in MotoAmerica with nine consecutive podiums. What was going on?
“I was in terrible physical shape, so I knew that I wasn’t getting the most out of the bike because I had been sick and
then a little bit injured. Things weren’t going great for me. At that point, I just kept showing up and putting my best foot forward and riding the wave. You’ve got ups and downs in this sport and what goes up must come down. I knew I wasn’t going to be down forever. I just needed to get through those few rounds as good as I could and ride the wave. That’s what I did. I got home and got healthy, and that showed when I got back to Mid-Ohio.”
What race stands out in your mind that you are particularly proud of?
“The last race of the year, really, is probably my proudest moment just because there were two guys going for a championship. I holeshotted the race and I was able to pass Kyle (Wyman) and make a gap and ride a flawless few laps, no mistakes, on his home track. It was sort of a weird feeling, to be honest, riding around the track with so little time. It just felt like I was so comfortable and so at home doing it. It was a lot of fun.”
The 2025 MotoAmerica King of the Baggers series kicks off in March. ■
For the 2025 King of the Baggers season, S&S Cycle/Indian rider Troy Herfoss will be defending his 2024 Championship title.
2024 Drag Specialties Dealer Ride: Vegas Run 2
November 2-5 – Henderson, Nevada •
Let the Good Times Roll!
Drag Specialties dealers ride the Silver State
When Drag Specialties launched its first Dealer Ride in 2006, the Black Hills Ride set in motion an annual event that has grown to become one of the most eagerly anticipated V-Twin events of the year.
Get away from the office or dealership for three days and three nights to hang out with longtime friends and ride some of the most picturesque roads in the country? That’s a no brainer. Do it all with first-class hospitality and the chance to meet up with the people behind some of the key brands in the FatBook and OldBook? Sign me up!
For its 18th year running (there was a pandemic break in 2020) the annual Dealer Event rolled into Henderson, Nevada for the Vegas Run II, a revisiting of the first Vegas Run, which took place back in 2017. Forget the casinos, the area around Sin City offers some of the most stunning scenery the Southwest has to offer – the perfect location for racking up a few hundred miles of V-Twin fun.
Like all Drag Specialties Dealer Rides, the Vegas Run II is an invitation-only ride open to Drag Specialties dealers who qualify through the company’s specific sales programs. For
the 2024 return to the Silver State, the ride attracted nearly 220 dealers, reps and vendors – a massive turnout!
Many of those on hand for the Vegas Run II have been coming since that first Black Hills Ride and attend every single year. That means there are attendees who have also ripped through the Ozarks (2008), cruised the Rocky Mountains (2011), rolled through Texas Hill Country (2012), and marveled at the scenery of South Carolina’s Upcountry (2018 and 2023). Those are just a few previous locations enjoyed by Dealer Ride-goers.
Following a time-tested, three-day format, the whole event kicked off the first day with the popular Vendor Row at the Westin Lake Las Vegas Resort & Spa. It was here that sponsoring vendors set up booths to give dealers a chance to check out the latest V-Twin parts and accessories, talk with product specialists and get their hands on coveted free swag. The day concluded with a welcome reception and dinner, offering the participating dealers, reps and vendors a chance to meet one another and catch up with old riding buddies and business associates.

As mentioned, the Drag Dealer Ride is just that, a riding trip. For many in the business side of the business, riding sometimes has to take a backseat to everyday concerns. Getting out on two wheels (or three!) is one of the event’s main draws. The 2024 Ride was no exception and offered participants four incredible loop options for two days of riding. Choices included the Hoover Dam-Searchlight Loop, the Red Rock Canyon Loop, the Route 66-Hoover Dam Loop, and the Valley of Fire State Park Loop. All offered stunning view and great roads.
As much of a tradition as the Ride itself is the now-famous farewell banquet that caps off the last night of the event. It’s here where the dealers, reps and vendors have the chance to break bread, bench race and rehash their favorite parts of the ride. Some of those favorite parts make it into the night’s award ceremony, where they’re recognized with light-hearted honors like Gumby, Breakdown and Oops Awards. There’s also a highly coveted award that’s taken more seriously and that’s the Ride’s Dealer of the Year award. This year’s winner was Jan and Reine Knobbe of Chariots of Fire in Troy, Missouri. With 2024 now in the history books, all eyes turn toward the next Ride, the event’s 19th running. For 2025, those eager attendees will gather in St. Augustine, Florida for the Gator Run, October 31-November 3. Space is limited so jump on it now and talk with your Drag rep about how to qualify.

OBelt Drives 101
Tips for Choosing the Correct Kit
lder Harley-Davidson Big-Twins – Knuckleheads, Panheads and Shovelheads – are the Timex wrist watches of motorcycles; they take a licking and keep on ticking.
In part the OldBook, and even the FatBook, play key roles in maintaining those old Harleys’ timeless and repetitious beat. That’s especially true when converting old, worn primary drives and clutches into modern and
be ½-inch total free play when measuring the static centerline at the midway point between the two pulleys. That means there will be free play of ¼ inch up and ¼ inch down. Note that BDL products feature stock OE specs, so parts might require some adjusting to fit.
BDL’s part numbers (and corresponding Drag part numbers) are helpful for selecting the correct belt drive kit. BDL’s kits include two specific numbers that indicate tooth count for the rear basket, such as 61 or 62 for the 8mm belt
Let’s take a closer look at BDL’s belt drives, and other replacement parts offered through the OldBook for those classic Big Twins. In the process we’ll also point out a few helpful tips on how to select the appropriate BDL parts for those upgraded conversions using BDL’s 8mm and 11mm kits.
First up, those kits. BDL says the 61-39TK-1 (p/n 11200422) kit is especially popular for early Harleys. Also popular is the 47-31TK-1 kit (p/n DS-3600109), and in the end the customer must decide whether to use either an 8mm or 11mm belt. Once that’s decided, settling on the proper primary drive ratio is necessary, requiring a little math to determine what’s best for your customers’ riding type and terrain.
To figure the primary drive ratio, divide the smaller tooth count into the larger to count to get the ratio – for example, 61/39 equals a 1.564:1 ratio, while 47/31 equals a 1.516:1 ratio. To figure the primary belt tension, it should
conversion, or 47 for the 11mm belt drive. For the 8mm front pulley, smaller numbers such as 39, 40 and 41 indicate the tooth count. The 11mm front pulley tooth count is indicated by 31. Part numbers that include a T or S indicate the type of engine sprocket shaft used – Tapered or Spline.
Part numbers that contain a K or E in the complete part number indicate Kick-start engines or Electric-start engines. Your shop and its customers should know what year the bike’s engine is because the pulley combination can change for the year, as well as when indicated by the S or K.
There is also an RB designation for baskets that are for bikes with OEM rear belt drives, such as 47-31SE-RB (p/n 2302-5001). There are also kits with a 4 or a 5 in the part number that indicate a 4 speed or 5 speed such as 4731SE-4 (p/n DS-3600106) or 47-31SE5 (p/n DS-3600105). So, study those part numbers to get it right! ■

New Wheel Accessories and Mounted Packages
oastal Moto has expanded its line of mounted wheels, wheel parts and ac cessories for 2025 by introducing new 320mm brake rotors, fender riser kits and zinc wheel weights. Drag Specialties dealers will also have more access to Coastal Moto Mounted Wheel Kits in 2025, with new 21-inch and 18-inch part numbers now available.
Since 2008, Coastal Moto has focused on building cost-effective one-piece cast wheels for the Harley-Davidson market. The brand’s patent-pending manufacturing processes produce stunning 3D-contoured designs with Harley-compatible hubs that provide direct bolt-on fitment for 2014 and newer Street Glide, Road Glide, Electra Glide, and Road King models of all trim levels.
Coastal’s new add-on 320mm brake rotors are designed specifically for Coastal Moto Wheels. They allow wheels from older models to fit 2024 and newer Street Glide and Road Glide models, previously unavailable. These rotors also allow stock wheels from 2014-2023 Harley Touring models to bolt onto 2024-and-up models.
Coastal calls these “hybrid” rotors because they pair the 2023 and older mounting bolt pattern with the same larger-diameter rotor size as those that come standard on 2024 Street Glide and Road Glide models. This clever feature allows 2023 and older Coastal Moto wheels to bolt onto 2024 models without buying a new front wheel.
Each rotor works seamlessly with the stock caliper and most aftermarket brands. They feature drilled holes to save weight, improve heat dissipation and deliver consistent braking in all conditions. The non-directional design of these rotors means builders can use them for right- or left-side mounting applications, and dealers have fewer part numbers to order and stock. All necessary mounting buttons and screws are included.
Coastal Moto’s Mounted Wheel Kits include a one-piece cast wheel, pre-mounted polished stainless steel brake rotors and a mounted and balanced Dunlop American Elite tire. The front-wheel kits include fender relocation brackets for fitment on 2023 and older models. The brackets can also be purchased separately as standalone 21-inch fender riser kits.
Lastly, Coastal Moto has added zinc wheel weights to its 2025 product roster for precise wheel balancing. These weights are available in packs of 12, 24 and 48 and have a polished or black finish to match the wheel color. Each wheel weight uses a heavy-duty adhesive backing for greater adhesion to wheel surfaces and straightforward installation. Weights are available in 1.0-ounce, 0.5-ounce and 0.25-ounce increments. ■

Coastal Moto now offers some new Mounted Wheel Kit options, including the Marlin and Hurricane models, both in black cut finish. Each comes with pre-mounted stainless steel rotors and mounted and balanced Dunlop American Elite tires.

A Foundation of Performance Form, Function and Reliability
The “Performance” in Performance Machine isn’t a suggestion, it’s a foundation. Performance Machine has a 50-year track record of bringing innovative designs and new tech to the V-Twin market, and the company shows no signs of slowing down. With its new ARC (Advanced Radiant Cooling) technology, and a longstanding brake and wheel testing program, Performance Machine components are proven to perform.
Everyone knows Performance Machine parts look beautiful, but did you know that PM’s wheels and brake calipers also meet stringent TÜV and JASO safety and durability testing criteria? Performance Machine has made big investments into equipment that allows the company to stress test components to ensure they are strong, reliable and safe.
For wheels, that testing includes four different procedures including a radial-load test, cornering test, torsion test and impact test. The radial-load test places the rim and tire against a six-foot drum of destruction at over double the maximum tireload rating, while the cornering test sees the wheel bolted to a rotating plate that side loads the hub to levels that exceed anything a wheel would experience in the real world.
The torsion test simulates the strain placed on a wheel when a high-torque bike is power shifting at wide-open throttle and hitting the brakes to the point of skidding. This test is repeated 100,000 times, representing years of real-world use.
The final test is the most violent. The impact test uses PM’s version of a Medieval guillotine to simulate hitting a massive pothole or a big piece of road debris. A striker is dropped on the wheel, at which point the tire must retain pressure and the rim cannot crack.
All of Performance Machine’s brake calipers, master cylinders and brake discs undergo similar torture testing on a custom-built brake dyno. The hard stops, sustained loads and other evaluations that PM is able to perform in-house were critical to the development of ARC, which is integrated into the all-new Monoblock caliper. This represents a significant leap forward in heat management for Harley-Davidson brakes.
With ARC, Performance Machine has made huge strides in heat control, as proven on its own brake dyno. ARC decreases the surface area between the caliper pistons and brake pad, which helps reduce heat transfer. What heat is

transferred is more readily dissipated thanks to strategically placed scallop cuts in the piston. With better brake cooling, your customers get more consistent, fade-free performance. ARC is just one of many innovations Performance Machine has developed over the years. By investing in its own testing equipment and adhering to high-level safety and durability protocols, PM is able to offer components that truly meet a higher standard. ■

DRAG SPECIALTIES DEALER: A FAMILY AFFAIR
FUEL MOTO USA: APPLETON, WISCONSIN | PERFORMANCE TUNING AND E-COMMERCE
Tucked into the relatively small community of Appleton, Wisconsin, is a family-owned company doing big business in the V-Twin industry.
Founded in 2004 within a 1,300 square foot former Pizza Hut Express, Fuel Moto USA has grown to occupy a 20,000 square foot custom-built space. The store boasts a massive range of parts and accessories, and features a customer base not only in the U.S., but also internationally.
What is Fuel Moto USA? “We specialize in performance tuning and utilizing e-commerce to retail engine components,” explains founder/owner Jamie Long. “In-house, we do full-scale engine and performance builds start to finish, delivering turn-key packages to customers. Our specialty is doing quick turn-arounds.”
HISTORY
“My background in this whole thing came from racing,” Long says. “I was into road racing in the ’90s. Then, when I got out of college, I worked at a couple of dealerships until I was about 30 and started Fuel Moto USA.”
Long’s future in the industry was cemented when he joined a “mom-and-pop” Honda retailer in the early 2000s and was tasked with installing a Dynojet dynamometer to fulfill
customers’ needs for tuning. “Because of racing, tuning was my background,” he says, “and at that time motorcycles were undergoing a transition, going from carburetion to fuel injection, so I was an early adopter to that.”
However, Long was doing more than tuning. As general manager, his job became multi-faceted.
“When I first joined them, they still had dial-up internet,” he explains. “So, one of my first jobs was to put in broadband and basically modernize the facility with technology. Then, in 2003, I created an e-commerce website for them that escalated very, very quickly. At that time – in hindsight – they weren’t prepared for that kind of scaling. I saw that right away when our parts department scaled from $5,000 a month to $50,000 in a real short period.”
Ultimately, though, Long noticed that the e-commerce portion of the dealership had become too large and unwieldly for ownership.
“So, at that time, when I was approaching 30 years old, I had to take a look at what I was doing and decide what my most valuable skill set was,” Long remembers. “Because, at that time, I had a daughter and a newborn son, and I had another child on the way.”
WHITNEY MEZA PHOTOS
Fuel Moto operates out of a 20,000 square feet custom building that houses its showroom, service department, R&D facility, dyno room and e-commerce operation.
Long decided to take a vacation with his wife, Cindy, and kids to mull his future. During this trip he decided it was time to start his own company and set the groundwork for Fuel Moto USA. Upon returning he put in his resignation.
“When I told them I was going into business for myself they looked at me with kind of a sigh of relief, and said they were hoping I was going to say that because it was getting a little overwhelming for them,” he relates. “So, in 2004, I created Fuel Moto, offering dyno-tuning and e-commerce. I could see really early on that there was going to be a very, very complex tie-in with the dyno-tuning, the fuel-injection products, e-commerce and tuning remotely because nobody had done that.”
Long set up shop in a former Pizza Hut Express, but quickly realized he would need more room for his operation. “Everyone back then was ordering-to-sale. So, what we decided to do was stock what we sell. That of course required more room, so we moved to an industrial park that had flexible space. What started out there as 2,500 square feet expanded to about 5,000 square feet after a couple of years.”
Two more moves would follow in a drive for additional space. In 2009 Long bought a 7,500 square foot building, and in 2019 decided to build a custom facility that features 20,000 square feet.
When Fuel Moto USA launched, the company was 100 percent dedicated to metric motorcycles. Long says that changed in 2008 when the economy began faltering and resulted in a noticeable decline in metric motorcycle sales. Long bought a Harley-Davidson to use for R&D and joined numerous online forums to learn more about what owners of American V-Twins were looking for.
“Once we tuned a few Harleys, all of a sudden there was a huge transition and we very, very quickly scaled in that,”
Long says. “The advantage we had was that Harley V-Twins benefit a huge amount from tuning. People do a lot of mods with their Harleys. If someone has a Honda CBR, they’re just going to put an exhaust on it and call it quits. A guy with a Harley is going to go with a big-bore kit, cams, all the stuff. We saw a real need in that market for tuning.”
E-COMMERCE
From the get-go, Fuel Moto USA utilized LeMans Corporation to fulfill its e-commerce business. Initially, when meeting customers’ metric needs, Parts Unlimited was Long’s go-to distributor. As the company transitioned into the V-Twin market, Drag Specialties became the main supplier.
“Drag Specialties vendors are very important to our business,” Long says. “The wide array of brands really serves as a one-stop source for the great majority of products we carry. And, as our relationship got stronger with the brands, our relationship of course got stronger with LeMans.”
A part of that strong relationship results from Fuel Moto USA’s Drag Specialties rep Brad Peterson. “Brad helps us with day-to-day order processing and any issues that may arise there,” Long explains. “He introduces us to new brands and the new products that come across from the

various brands. Also, he’s very good in orchestrating any discounts or programs that are available. That’s a really big part of what he does for us.”
Fuel Moto USA’s best-selling products are tuning parts and engine hard parts.
“Jamie Long is both passionate and competitive about our industry and his business, and his staff, a combination of family and friends, shares that spirit,” says Peterson. “Jamie knows how to work our system. This is very important. He takes advantage of every program/special that LeMans offers as they might be applicable to his business. It has been a pleasure to watch his business grow.”
IN-HOUSE SERVICES
Fuel Moto USA’s in-house services include full-scale engine and performance builds, and dyno tuning on a state-of-the-art test cell and Dynojet 250i chassis dyno. The store also creates custom engine maps for clients around the world, and offers technical support to customers via Fuel Moto University.
“We have a pretty sizeable space for a shop, but we don’t have 50 bikes standing around waiting for service,” Long says. “Instead, we’ll have small handful of bikes here. Because, when a bike is here, it’s all hands on deck.
facility, the company has developed more than 7,500 proprietary maps.
A FAMILY AFFAIR
Fuel Moto USA has 14 employees, including Long’s wife Cindy and kids Mikayla, Lucas and Katie who all hold key positions.
“When we first started, my wife was working. However, I ended up hiring her to help doing the shipping and receiving and a lot of the stuff on the e-commerce side. So, I kind of saw that that was what the future was going to be.
Where do the clients come from? “Nine out of 10 bikes travel more than 100 miles to get here,” he says. “The majority of customers are from the upper Midwest, but we do get a lot of bikes shipped from around the nation. We have a discounted rate at the hotel here across the highway from us, so what we’ll do when we do an engine build is have the customer stay there. Typically, it’s a one- to two-day turnaround.”
Don’t need a full engine build? Fuel Moto USA will preprogram an EFI tuner with a Fuel Moto map based on the modifications done to a bike. Using its in-house R&D
“In fact, at the time, I took my son out of daycare and brought him in to work with me every day. Not long after our youngest daughter came with us as well. Later, when other kids would go out sledding or biking, a lot of times our kids would spend their weekends coming in to help do jobs like clean the shop, break down boxes and help take garbage out. Then, all three kids started working here full time pretty much out of high school.”
Family and community are important to Long, and Fuel Moto USA supports a handful of local charities as well as sponsoring poker runs and similar events. Nevertheless, don’t expect to see the company at too many industry events like the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally or Daytona Beach Bike Week.
“It doesn’t really fit our business model to go out and do events,” Long says. “Historically – and we’re not afraid to say it – we’re a business that doesn’t lend well to being taken on the road. So, we fly our banner from here doing a lot of Internet-based advertising, and that lends itself into doing the custom engine building and dyno tuning. It’s hard to get out of here when we’re already doing the work that needs to be done.” ■

With a background in racing, owner Tony Long has made tuning V-Twins a major part of Fuel Moto’s operations. The shop does full-scale engine and performance builds, dyno tuning and create custom engine maps for customers around the world.
Pan America Upgrades
High-Quality Risers, Lever Kits and Footpegs
After racing motorcycles for a decade, Gerhard Gilles realized that the standard parts he was using did not meet his expectations. Seeking something better, he produced his first adjustable footrest system for himself. The rest of the paddock quickly took notice and began requesting similar set-ups. This set the course for what Gilles wanted to do after his racing career.
In 2000, the GILLES company was founded to combine Gerhard’s passion for racing with the creation of products that could aid others. This led to the development and production of the first multi-variable footrest system, the AS31GT. At the same time, this first product gave rise to the company that today sells a wide range of products worldwide. Based in Grevenmacher, Luxembourg, GILLES produces high-quality, detailed, machined products for multiple motorcycle brands including Harley-Davidson.
Focused on offering clever function, stunning details and a high degree of adjustability options, GILLES’ products emphasize design and exclusivity by giving each motorcycle an individual look.
Examples of GILLES’ products include the 1D.GT handlebar riser conversion kit, gear/brake lever kit (and Pro-X and Tech-X driver footpegs designed specifically for Harley-Davidson Pan America models.

The 1D.GT handlebar riser conversion kit enables a more comfortable handlebar and seating position. The kit’s unique geometry allows for two distinct positions. In the first position, the handlebar raises about a ½ inch higher, and moves about 1½ inches closer to the rider. In the second position, it raises about 1 inch and moves 1½ inches away from the rider. Importantly, no additional components such as cables or wire need to be altered or extended during installation. GILLES’ gear/brake lever kit contains both the shift and brake lever, and provides complete adjustability to achieve the perfect custom position for the individual rider. Precision-crafted from high-quality materials, the levers are adjustable both in height and length by up to 1/3 of an inch. They are constructed with double ball bearing support to ensure smooth operation, and feature foldable shift and brake pegs.
Finally, the Pro-X and Tech-X driver footpegs offer dynamic adaptation to foot movements, shifting forward or backward with the rider’s weight distribution. Both peg kits feature a unique serrated structure to ensure reliable slip protection while an innovative rubber bearing between the tread and the joint absorbs basic vibrations and mitigates shocks on uneven terrain. These are a great upgrade to Harley’s Adventure-focused Pan America. ■

Bolt Kits and Magnetic Dipsticks
Figurati Designs has added two new products to its show-quality, jewelry-grade Harley-Davidson dress-up accessories collection. Since entering the market in 2016, the brand has earned a reputation for its high-quality products with next-level attention to detail and finishes. For Figurati, jewelry grade means no shortcuts or compromises. Instead, each product is manufactured from durable 316L marine-grade stainless steel, with meticulous laser-engraved design details and polished jewelry-grade finishes.
New for 2025 is a line of high-quality magnetic dipsticks for the 1999-2016 Harley-Davidson Twin Cam and 2017-2022 Milwaukee-Eight models. Each Figurati Designs dipstick adds an extra level of engine protection by catching metal filaments that naturally float and build up in the oil and oil pan. Unlike magnetic drain plugs, these specifically engineered magnetic dipsticks sit directly in the running oil flow instead of at the bottom of the oil pan, which improves residue filtering.
Figurati uses industrial-grade, 2000 Gaussrated neodymium magnets (some of the most powerful available) to increase the catch and removal of harmful materials. Each plastic dipstick tip uses high-visibility yellow or orange for easier viewing. Anti-fingerprint technology enhances all finished surfaces, and each dipstick comes laser-engraved with the Figurati Designs logo. Simply replace the stock dipstick with a Figurati Designs unit to begin real-time oil cleaning.
Figurati’s new engine bolt kits add a new level of distinction to Harley engines. These premium hardware kits replace the dismal zinc-plated OEM engine bolts with high-strength stainless steel socket head units. These feature a gorgeous hand-buffed black or standard stainless finish that won’t rust, crack or peel. Each kit includes the bolts and washers needed to replace the stock engine hardware, with two part numbers covering all 2017-2023 Harley Touring models.
Beyond its new magnetic dipsticks and engine bolt kits, many other high-quality products are available to Drag Specialties dealers from Figurati Designs. From axle nut covers and swingarm cover caps to seat mounting knobs
and many other dress-up parts, Figurati products add premium detail, fit and finish to each ride and are available in a variety of designs.
All Figurati Designs products include quality packaging for a high-end customer experience. Inspired by premium watchmakers and specialty jewelry designers, Figurati’s packaging designs showcase each product’s unique attributes, jewelry-grade finishes and meticulous laserengraved details. ■

DRAG’S MIKE COURY BUILDS A TRACK BAGGER
They say that good things come in threes, and for Drag Sales Rep Mike Coury, that can be said about his 2023 Harley-Davidson FLTRX. Coury recently completed building the third version of the bike, this time with his sights set on competing in the Bagger Racing League’s 2025 season, and he did it all with the help of the FatBook
Coury, who has been with Drag for seven years, and is based in Central North Carolina, picked up the Road Glide in 2023 with plans to turn it into a Performance Bagger.
“I blacked everything out, and then I decided I wanted color in it, so I put a bunch of gold on it and changed a bunch of things around,” Coury recalls. “And then, once I went on the track with the bike in that last form of gold Performance Bagger, I decided to dive right in and go full race Bagger.”
To make that happen, Coury consulted the Bagger Racing League’s rulebook for the Super Street Bagger class, then started to make a list of all the parts and mods he would need to make to get the bike not just into race trim, but competitive, as well.
Certainly, working for Drag made things a little easier for Coury, who only needed to turn to the FatBook to find everything he needed, and more – the spec sheet for his Road Glide is a long one.
As the parts list grew, it was time for Coury to get to work turning his Performance Bagger into a race Bagger. “Each version has lasted 3-6 months,” he says. “It doesn’t take long to switch things out. This one is more in-depth because I’m cracking the motor open and bulletproofing the crank, and making sure the bike is 100 percent race ready.”
The engine boasts a host of performance parts from Fueling, like a *(EMIS Code 2) HP+ 472 cam chest kit, rocker shafts and stud kit. S&S piston cooling jets and an oil control valve are part of the setup, as well as a DP clutch kit. The Figurati magnetic dipstick is a small part with a much bigger story. Figurati provided something just as, if not more, important than parts, pitching in with tuning know-how and sponsorship.
The finishing touch for the engine was the full exhaust system, which is a Bassani X Slyfox performance exhaust. Slyfox has had a strong presence in BRL since the company’s inception, using the track to hone its products, so this

collaboration between Slyfox and Bassani Xhaust was an easy choice for Coury.
“When it comes to the track, you end up beating on the engine harder than you would in a street situation. You want everything to be as precise as possible and the engine as lubricated as it can be,” Coury says. At the same time, though, he notes, “The mods I did to my bike, I did those with a mindset of being a streetbike. All those mods are very trackable, though. You can run them on the track and not have issues.”
While the engine mods were certainly an important part of the Road Glide build, Coury says that the wheels were another big upgrade to get the bike into racing form. Once again, Coury turned to Slyfox for the 17-inch wheels, choosing a 17x3.5 front and a 17x6 rear.
Another important race modifications Coury made was a big update to the suspension. The rear has a 15-inch setup with Legend Suspension REVO ARC remote reservoir shocks and an Arlen Ness rear shock lift. Those same two brands can be found up front, which is 3 inches taller than the stock setup. For the front suspension, Coury went with Legend Suspension’s 2-inch AXEO Performance front
fork legs and +2 gold fork tubes.
Even with the taller suspension, getting enough clearance for the foot controls can still be a challenge when it comes to race bikes. Coury elected to mount a set of Speed Merchants mid-controls to provide more clearance when he’s cornering on the street or the track. These details all add up to make a big difference, and Coury is quick to point out that when helping a rider build a Performance Bagger, dealers shouldn’t be focused on simply boosting horsepower.
“The biggest thing when it comes to a Performance Bagger or a race bike are suspension and brakes,” Coury says. “Those get overlooked a lot because guys are worried about a big-inch motor. The suspension and brakes should be the number one priority. Upgrade those first, then go from there. Next might be hand controls or foot controls, then you can start cracking into the motor, whether it’s for more power or just reliability.”
As for Coury’s Road Glide, he upgraded the brakes with Arlen Ness radial calipers, Slyfox floating rotors and custom dual brake lines.

While the 2025 BRL season will be Coury’s debut in roadracing, he’s far from a novice when it comes to racing motorcycles. He used to race dirt bikes and Supermoto when he lived in Colorado, and he’s done some drag racing.
As he prepares for the upcoming BRL season, Coury is quick to note that it has been a team effort. He says, “Thank you to everyone who has helped me out along the way with this motorcycle. I’m looking forward to having a competitive year next year, and to having fun doing it.”
Dealers who want to check out Coury’s race-ready Road Glide can find it in the Bassani Xhaust booth at NVP Louisville. Coury will be on hand at the show, too, and he’s ready to talk with dealers about helping their own customers turn their bikes into Performance Baggers. ■

SLever Looks New Clutch and Brake Lever Styles
mall changes can add up to a big difference on a Harley-Davidson, and replacing the brake and clutch levers is a great way to amp up the style and functionality of a bike. Drag Specialties has expanded its already robust lineup of levers with the addition of both narrow and short lever sets.
Both of these new lever sets are die-cast from aluminum for that perfect blend of strength and light weight, and riders can choose from a chrome or matte black finish to best coordinate with the look of their bike.
The narrow lever set has, as the name says, a narrower profile compared to OEM levers. Meanwhile, the short lever set features a distinctly shorter, more tapered design. While both of these options look great, they offer more than just style.
“Our narrow levers have a smooth, rounded feel and allow for smaller hand operation, and the newer short levers not only look great, but offer easier, faster control with just a couple of fingers,” says Drag’s Tom Motzko.
Both the narrow and short lever sets fit a range of FL Touring models, including 2024 models as well as FL Trikes. Additionally, the short lever set can fit 2015-2024 Softails (excluding hydraulic clutch models) to make them even more versatile.
Motzko also notes that “a wider, smoother lever offers better control and feel, and it’s easier to operate.” Drag Specialties has both wide blade lever sets and slotted wide blade sets available, and they are CNC-machined for a precision finish. This is a way to not just replace, but upgrade the OEM levers to get that improved operation and comfort for a rider’s hands.
The wide blade lever sets come in chrome and matte black, and they are available for older bikes as well as newer ones. In fact, there are a lot of Drag lever styles
that can be found in both the FatBook and OldBook. The choices range from the more sedate, like standard levers, to the bold, such as the skull levers. Comfort grip levers are designed with easy operation in mind, so they are ideal for riders who struggle with hand fatigue.
Whether a rider is looking to replace a broken or damaged lever, or they want to update the look of their V-Twin, Drag Specialties has a lever set to suit their style and their requirements. ■

A Trio of Battery Charger Options
TecMate has been manufacturing the Drag Specialties OptiMate battery chargers for the past 10 years. The range of chargers have the following key feature in common – they can be safely left connected to the battery to provide long worry-free 24/7 maintenance. Simply leave it connected whenever the motorcycle is not in use and the OptiMate 24/7 maintenance program will hourly test and deliver a float charge that ensures the battery remains fully charged and healthy.
The EASY option for battery maintenance is the Drag Specialties OptiMate 1 DUO that can charge and maintain both 12V lead-acid and 12.8V/13.2V Lithium (LFP) batteries. It delivers a maximum of 0.6 Amps.
The MORE option is the Drag Specialties OptiMate 2 DUO, which delivers 2 Amps of charge current, ideal for motorcycles that have a larger battery to maintain or may have a higher parasitic draw. The OptiMate 2 DUO can charge, test and maintain both 12V lead-acid and 12.8V/13.2V Lithium (LFP) batteries.
The Drag Specialties OptiMate 5 is the BEST option among the lineup for sealed 12V lead-acid batteries. Add in the EASY and MORE selections, and there’s a trio of options.
The BEST option for sealed (AGM/VRLA) 12V lead-acid batteries is the Drag Specialties OptiMate 5 which delivers 4 Amps of charge current. It can recharge a low volt 12V lead-acid battery quickly and then maintain it 24/7. Version 2 of the Drag Specialties OptiMate 5 is being released at the 2025 Louisville NVP, with an improved save mode able to recover a dead-flat battery from as low as 0.5 Volts, after which it will recharge, test and then maintain the battery. ■

TThe Statement Seat Standing Out From the
he list of stylish, comfortable seating options for newer-model Baggers is now longer thanks to the Outcast 2-Up and Outcast GT2 from LePera Motorcycle Seats. The Outcast 2-Up takes the popular design of the original Outcast seat but makes room for a passenger. Meanwhile, the Outcast GT2 is a nod to the GT racing stripes.
“We designed the Outcast for riders who prioritize comfort while embracing the solo experience,” explains Christine LePera. “The name ‘Outcast’ felt fitting, inspired by its definition: ‘A person who has been rejected by society or a social group.’”
However, it wasn’t long before riders wanted more choices. “After the Outcast’s success, riders expressed their love for its style but wanted the option to bring along a passenger,” LePera says. “That’s when we introduced the Outcast 2-Up – because now, the Outcaster doesn’t have to ride alone.”
The Outcast 2-Up seat has a sleek design paired with an ample 14-inch-wide driver seating area and 11-inch passenger seating area on top of LePera’s luxe Marathon foam.
The Outcast GT2 was designed as a full-size solo seat that easily accommodates a luggage rack, but its tapered de sign keeps it looking trim and stylish. The “GT2” part of the name comes from the contrast inlay along the 15-inchwide seat, which is inspired by GT racing stripes.
Both seat styles are available in Standard and Daddy Long Legs configurations. ■

Bluetooth Receiver for Powersports Applications
With so many options in the world of audio elec tronics, it seems there are products with either too many features or not enough functionality. Yet, KICKER has found that balance for your V-Twin and other powersports customers with the new KBTR Bluetooth receiver.
This receiver is small and versatile, designed with the control riders want without clutter they don’t need.
Volume control is handled by a traditional rotary knob, accompanied by oversized buttons for power, source, tracking, play/pause and subwoofer level that are easily navigated, even with gloves on. Each control is illuminated with three different options for easy use at night.
“This piece allows your customer to add an aftermarket system where they previously didn’t think they could,” says Lori Boyer, KICKER Regional Sales Manager. “On a

High-Quality Clutch Upgrades
All the engine power in the world won’t make you go any faster if it’s not getting to the rear wheel. This means that whether your customers keep it stock or add power, they should also be upgrading the clutch. Rekluse knows how to handle torque, and has various upgrades to match any Harley-Davidson rider and performance goal.
An immediate way to increase clutch durability is with a drop-in TorqDrive clutch pack. TorqDrive provides more disks in less space, providing up to 50 percent stronger clutch engagement without an increase in lever effort.
For more torque capacity and clutchless convenience, the RadiusX auto clutch package is a way to go. This setup combines TorqDrive technology with Rekluse’s flagship EXP disk. With this system, using the clutch lever is optional. The centrifugal EXP device engages the clutch as revs rise, yet the system allows you to retain full control of the clutch lever.

The UK-based company has used that friction know-how in designing its latest clutch replacement kits for Harleys. Employing an exclusive heat-resistant blend of carbon
and aramid fibers for fade-free performance, DP’s clutch friction plates require no oil soak prior to installation. They provide ultra-smooth power delivery with no fading and better durability than the stock plates.
DP’s steel clutch plates are precisionmanufactured from high-quality steel to exacting tolerances, and heat-treated for maximum service life. As with its brake pad selection, DP has a clutch kit to match your customer’s Harley model, old or new.
DP also has OEM replacement brake rotors for Harleys that are laser-cut from 410 stainless steel. The discs are Blanchard-ground for precise flatness and offer improved feel and stopping power over the standard discs. ■

Tech Talk Software Updates for Easier Service
These days, servicing and diagnosing problems on a motorcycle can require having one computer talk to another. The CanDo MOTO Pro and MOTO Mini diagnostic tools have more to talk about than ever thanks to an expansive software update for both.
The MOTO Pro is a comprehensive diagnostic tool for dealers who service a wide range of motorcycle and recreational vehicle brands. The MOTO Mini is available in three versions, including one for European powersports models, another for Asian models and a third for American machines. All versions of the tool allow service shops to easily diagnose trouble codes, run tests, view data and perform special functions.
With the latest software update, both the MOTO Pro and the MOTO Mini Americas are better equipped to service Harley-Davidsons.
“Updating to the latest Harley software version will add coverage for the 2024 model year, including Touring, Pan America and Sportster S models,” says CanDo’s Victor Rivilla. “Capabilities for TPMS, Speedometer Pairing, Key-

Maximum Performance New Ultra Series Pistons
Maximum power requires maximum strength, and JE’s Ultra Series pistons deliver. This special lineup of pistons boasts even greater tensile strength than standard forged pistons and is packed with performanceenhancing features. Now, JE has Ultra Series pistons for Harley-Davidson’s M8 engines in a variety of bore sizes and compression ratios.
JE’s Ultra Series pistons are packed with performance-enhancing feature, and are designed for tough use – a great match for big inch Milwaukee-Eight builds.
What sets Ultra Series pistons apart is JE’s proprietary Aligned Grain Flow technology. JE’s in-house forging operation has developed a process that maximizes the alignment of the aluminum’s grain structure, translating to high tensile strength.
In addition to the optimized material, the Ultra Series pistons for the M8 are internally and externally braced. This helps mitigate piston flex under heavy loads, adding to the pistons’ strength without adding unnecessary weight.
Ultra Series pistons have been proven in M8 builds with over 400 horsepower, so you know they’ll offer extreme durability for your customers’ builds.
Ultra Pistons also incorporate performance and durability enhancing features such as JE’s Thermal Barrier crown coating, Tuff Skirt coating, antidetonation grooves, lateral gas ports, an accumulator groove, and more. These are full-featured pistons that offer top-shelf, custom features in an off-the-shelf part.
These Ultra Series pistons are available in standard (4.250˝), 4.310˝ and 4.320˝ bore sizes, each with the option of a 10.25:1 or 11.25:1 compression ratio. Ultra Series M8 pistons are supplied in kits including two pistons, rings, wrist pins and locks. ■

Raked Clean Show-Quality Triple Trees
Dealers looking for a source to help their customers customize their rides with a stretched, more chopper-like look should consider Accutronix 41mm Raked Triple Trees.
These high-quality, drop-in-ready triple trees are a turnkey solution for Harley-Davidson FXST and FXWG owners looking to add rake angle to their ride. For those who may be unfamiliar with the brand, Accutronix has been crafting high-quality motorcycle components since 1985.
Each Raked Triple Tree set is machined from 6061 T-6 Billet Aluminum in the USA and engineered to add 5 degrees of rake to the front end of FX Softail and Wide Glide models. Power Pull
Easier Clutching for M8 Models
Hand fatigue can turn what should be a fun day of riding into a trip a rider would like to forget. Müller Motorcycle’s Power Clutch 2.0 for M8-model Harley-Davidsons is the latest in the company’s products that keep hands happy.
The Power Clutch 2.0 makes it easier to engage the clutch lever, and it’s a simple part that is completely hidden once installed. Plus, adjusting the cable tension is a simpler task, thanks in part to the Müller Motorcycle Clutch Control tool. Also available separately, this adjustable aluminum part replaces the original plastic part.
Fabian Müller. “This means that we reduce the idle travel of the lever, and therefore the clutch feels much more predictable when starting off or accelerating.”
Dealers who are heading to the Louisville NVP can experience the ease of pulling the lever on a bike equipped with the Power Clutch 2.0 by stopping in at the Müller Motorcycle booth. “You can see the Power Clutch for yourself and test it on site,” Müller notes. “Once you pull the Power Clutch, you will never want to ride with an original clutch again. You can also see our other products such as lowering kits and internal throttle cables.” ■
“With our Power Clutch 2.0 we not only reduce the force when pulling the clutch by a full 45 percent, we even achieve better performance when clutching,” explains
