Allopathic medicine is a term used to describe most forms of conventional medicine. It is most commonly used by practitioners of alternative therapies to differentiate between the two types of treatment. It can also be referred to as conventional, mainstream, Western or orthodox medicine.
A l l o path ic Tr e atm e n ts Allopathy is a healthcare system in which licensed medical practitioners – such as doctors, surgeons, nurses, pharmacists and other professionals – treat illness and injury. The methods they use include medication, surgery and radiation as well as some other forms of therapies. Allopathic doctors may prescribe prescription drugs or recommend over-the-counter remedies. They may also recommend preventative treatments such as vaccines or blood pressure medication.
