The Natural Wellness Cycle Dr. Carolyn Dean Understanding the natural wellness cycle of the body can be the first step towards recognizing what to do to maintain optimum health. There are three main processes to be aware of in the wellness cycle.

A c t i vati o n The activation process occurs when the body is working to create good health by ‘waking up’ various systems, cells and organs. Enzymes are activated and the body absorbs nutrients that make it feel more awake. Some people experience this phase with symptoms such as muscle twitches, pins and needles, random pains, or feeling jumpy or shaky. These are not signs of malfunction, however, but evidence of activation.

R es ti ng Feeling the need to rest is not a sign of failure or weakness. The body lets us know it needs to rest when it is ready to process various changes that need to be made and integrate them into the system.

Detoxi f i c ati o n Detoxification can cause symptoms such as a mild headache, a rash or diarrhea if toxins are being released faster than they are being excreted, but this is just the body beginning to create good health.
