LS Parish Council Little Somerford Parish Council The Parish Council held a meeting on August 4 via Zoom. Wiltshire Council Cllr Sturgis reported that further work is required to clear the drain under the railway bridge on the Great Somerford road. Roads through the village are currently being prepared for resurfacing work. (Hopefully this will have been completed by now). The Parish Council is waiting to receive an Agricultural Notice for the barn opposite Field View. Covid 19 Community Support Zoe Carruthers reported that support supply vastly outnumbered the help needed during the lockdown. A huge thank you to everyone who got in touch and offered their time. A big thank you to how quickly and easily people came together and helped when called upon. 34 people / families registered with us – either offering support or requesting it. We were aware of 6 families who were shielding, some of whom we supported. In addition we helped 5 individuals, mainly with picking up prescriptions or calling them for a chat. It should be noted that many people helped others or were supported and did so independently of the village support group. In light of a possible re-emergence of Covid-19, we would request that wherever possible, residents organise for repeat prescriptions to be delivered by post (via Boots or other suppliers). This is a free service. The support database will remain for the foreseeable future in case we need to request help on behalf of others. If you are on the list, and would like your name removed, please contact Zoe Carruthers via email: zoemcarruthers@hotmail.com or Rachel Nuttall on 01249 720978 The Parish Council would like to thank everyone who has offered and/or helped out, particular thanks are expressed to Zoe Carruthers and Nicky Butcher. It has also been brought to the Parish Council’s attention that 18

there is an anomaly in the ridge height on the plans and the planning consent conditions. Cllr Sturgis will be raising this with the planning officer as it was noted that approved plans and planning consent conditions must match. Footpaths and Rights of Way The Parish Council has completed it’s annual review of footpaths and is currently progressing the actions which arose from this review. Play Park The Parish Council was delighted to open the Play Park when Government guidelines allowed. Please respect the guidelines for use which are posted on the gate. Telephone Book Exchange This is a valuable and useful asset to the Village provided it is used properly. Please exchange a book, i.e. take a book and leave a book. No magazines should be left. If there is no room on the shelf, please do not leave any books, but take them to the charity shop. Unfortunately in recent weeks this amenity has been used as a dumping ground for old books and other items. Please help the Parish Council by not abusing this facility. Vacancy There is currently a vacancy on the Parish Council. If you are interested or would like more details please contact Cllr Cameron via the clerk’s email address.
